Normalize sound Premiere Pro CS 4

Hi.
I have a lot of clips in my sequence, where the audio is too low or too high, how I normalize them at one step.?

I'm not a heavy Sound Booth user because I come from a pro audio background and tend to lean on those tools. That said, when I need to process audio for an entire track, typically what I do is export as audio only, bring it up in my audio app (Sound Booth would probably work just fine), clean it up, save it out, and then import the edited audio track back in.
By the way, when you're normalizing, you might first want to do a pass with a limiter to chop off the highest peaks. Since normalizing only scoots up stuff by the distance of the very highest peak to 0db (or whatever ceiling you set), one stray spike in volume can prevent the rest of the audio from being boosted.
If you look at your wave form, you'll doubtless see that most of the energy resides within a particular range, and then you have some thin spikes here and there. Let's say that the bulk of the energy resides from -6db down. If you run the limiter to make a 6db reduction, it snips off the errant peaks. Then, when you normalize, you'll get the 6db boost across the board.
Going too far in this direction with a limiter will start to give you some distortion, so it's best to experiment a couple of times on a copy until you've got the hang of it. The end result will be more consistent audio across the board as well as enhanced levels for you to work with once you're back in PPro.
If you have it, Adobe Audition is a great tool for this kind of work. If not, I'm reasonably sure you can accomplish it with Sound Booth.
Hope this helps,
Chris

  • .wma Files No Longer Have Sound (Premiere Pro CC)

Today when I was working on a project in Premiere Pro CC and imported a .mp3 file, all the .wma files' sound disappeared. I have no idea why or how, but I've tried everything that I could think of, but without any luck.
Has anybody experienced this problem before and/or have a solution?
    Thank you!

    Hello,
    If you are using the
MediaElement make sure to handle the
MediaFailed event. If MediaFailed is not getting called then you can handle the
CurrentStateChanged event to see what state the ME is in when it starts to hang.
    I hope this helps,

  • Premiere Pro CS6 does not recognize USB PnP Sound device connected  to iMac OSX even when activated in Audio MIDI setup. The iMac(i-7 processor,16 GB)   is working with this USB device without any problem

Premiere Pro CS6 does not recognize the USB PnP Sound device in order to produce a commentary sound track. The USB device has been activated on the iMac OSX by using the Audio-MIDI-setup and is working correctly with the iMac. When opening > presets >audio hardware I can only select between >standard >out  integrated > digital input integrated >microphone integrated. USB PnP is not indicated at this place.
With the built-in microphone of the iMac I can produce the commentary sound track, but I would prefer a stand alone version for better quality.
Your help is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Annemarie!

I'm using a Logitech Webcam Pro 9000 (which has a microphone on the side). I have several other devices plugged into separate USB slots: a keyboard, a mouse, my iPhone, and a Roland keyboard midi controller.
I've considered that maybe the webcam/mic combo is the culprit. If USB doesn't work at a constant speed, that could very well be causing the issue! The sound begins to lag badly sometimes when it's working properly, so that there's a multisecond delay between speaking and hearing my voice repeated back over the mic which is another sign that something is wrong. I've also caught it making a strange electronic sound during its "hang" time once it stops taking sound input correctly.
Maybe I should try to use line-in and forgo USB altogether then. I think I'd need a preamp and some sort of converter for that since the Mac Mini lacks a powered mic jack. I'm only a newbie musician so I've never set up such a system but it might be a better solution in the long run.
I'll check to see if it hangs before or after my computer enters suspend mode, that's a good suggestion too. Thank you for your help!

  • Premiere Pro 2.0 and Windows 7 - Direct Sound Input soundcard driver problem

My XP machine crashed, I reinstalled Premiere Pro 2.0 with Windows 7, and I got the following error: 'The Currently installed soundcard driver does not support Direct Sound Input. Recording audio is not possible.' The soundcard drivers are updated. Any ideas? Here's what I have: AMD Phenom II X4 965 Processor  3.40 GHz 8 GB, 64 bit. Thank you for looking.

Thanks! Though I upgraded to solve the problem, this is good to know.

VERY VERY VERY EASY (now, when I solved the problem, not before...!!!)
Insert Micropone or any jack in Micropone Input or Aux Input, on your sound card or motherboard !
AND NOW YOU CAN USE PREMIERE PRO 2.0
    Enjoy

    Please help!

    Hi,
    Thanks for reply.
Sound is definetly not muted. Other files playback fine.
I went to "Audio Hardware" and changed the settings as per advice page but nothing.
I since deleted the media cache and still nothing.
I removed adobe completly and then reinstalled it. Seems to be going OK now. Thank god. Gotta get this video edited.
    Thanks for input, much appreciated.

  • Premiere Pro will not open Audition to edit sound track - Why?

This was a problem in CS6 and was fixed in the first version of CC. Now that Premiere Pro has had an update, the right click link to "Edit in Adobe Audition" is broken. In CS6, it didn't even show as an active link. In CC it shows as active, and when clicked on, saves the audio track as "soundtrackname Audio_Extracted" then does nothing. I can't go back and forth when trying to fix the sound. Perhaps this is a bug that Adobe re-introduced in the program?

  • No sound from Premiere Pro

I was reviewing a video in the source tab when i realized that I couldn't hear any of the sound from Premiere Pro.
I can see the sound db raising in the sound value bar but I cannot hear anything from Premiere Pro.
I can hear everything outside of Premiere but nothing inside of it.

    A little more information:
I'm listening on my headphones when the sound didn't work.
I therefore tried to turn them off and listen over the computers and it worked over the computers speakers.
But it still doesn't work on my headphones. I can hear every other sound than the sound from Premiere on my headphones.
While I hear a song from for example Spotify while I edit in Premiere then I still can't hear anything from Premiere on my headphone(because it is on my computers speakers) but i can still hear everything from Spotify.

  • Can't open my video files from my camera/SD card with sound into premiere pro or any software. HELP!

I am on an OS X 10.7.5 and whenever I pug in either my Panasonic HC-V720 or the SD card I can't seem to find the private video file, I get folders like the picture bellow instead.
I have tried in a different computer running a newer version of OS X and the private file appears instead. I can't seem to get my videos up on premiere pro CS6 with the sound I only get the image/video by importing the .mts files.
Does anyone know what to do?

YYou should be asking these questions on the Adobe forums.

  • Premiere Pro CS6: No sound importing .mts files

    Hey,
    My Setup:
    - Adobe Premiere Pro CS6
    - Windows 7 x64
    My Problem:
I bought a DLSM (Panasonic Lumix G6H) and recorded five hours of footage using AVCHD 50p. I imported the .mts files into Premiere and got no sound at all. Whenever I open the .mts with VLC or WMP there is sound.
I spent numerous hours trying to find a solution for this problem, but unfortunately none of them worked for me.
At this point I'm quite frustrated, I NEVER create accounts to ask questions, because usually they are answered - but this time i couldnt manage to overcome this issue.
    I already tried:
    1) Copy the entire folder structure - didnt work
    2) Rename the .mts to .m2ts - didnt work
    3) Using the Media-Browser when importing the files - didnt work
    4) Rename it to .avi - didnt work
    5) Downloaded "Any Video Converter" as my last resort.. there is no option for 50p .m2ts (which might work) - not satisfying

  • Adobe After Effects importiert nicht in Adobe Premiere Pro durch Adobe Audition bearbeiteten Sound

    Hallo liebe Community,

  • Problems with Premiere Pro 2.0:  sound lost after clip pasting

To integrate small projects to one bigger Project, it used to work well with Premiere Pro 1.5 in the following way: import small projects into the main sequence of the new project and, in parallel, copy the clips from the timeline of the small projects and past them into the timeline of the new project. However, I am encountering the following problems while trying to do the same thing with Premiere Pro 2.0:
    ·        Video and sound of every pasted clip becomes unlinked.
    ·        Although the sound was there (also shows in the wave view) right after the pasting and it can be rendered, but the audio Information gets lost as soon as I exit the new project (saved beforehand). If I re-open this new project, although the timeline shows all the pasted sound clips, but there is information in them - no sound (the wave views show only straight lines).
    ·        As well, some of the video and audio effect settings get lost (e.g. cross fading), but the effects such as brightness and contrast settings always remain.
    ·        At least one thing seems to be sure: the imported files themselves are ok. Newly created clips in the timeline from those imported files (dragged into the timeline) are fine - no information lost.
All tips are great helps. Thanks in advance.

    I got it!
Though not described in the English HELP, but in the German HELP: I have to press the Shift and T Keys. It works in my case with the following steps:
    1.     Mark the corresponding audio and video tracks
    2.     Put CTI over the clip
    3.     Press shift + T
    4.     Double click the clip
    5.     Eventually I have to repeat and press the keys shift +T again.
Thanks a lot once more for all of the hints and the detailed explanations. It is indeed a great help. I really appreciate it very much.

  • Importing sound file in premiere pro

I am facing a problem with adobe premiere pro
CS5. When I  import a sound file ( in this case is an
MP3 file) using Media Browser and I place it on the timeline the file does not play. If I import it using File> import then it plays fine. I called Adobe and they told me that it is a windows permission issue. I was not satisfied with their answer so now they are checking on it to find a solution. I believe I should be able to import an audio file through the Media Browser without a problem. By the way I have windows 7 pro 64 bit system and I am the sole administrator. Also If I copy the file to my desktop and import it from media browser then it plays fine. I am confused. Could anyone help me with this? Thank you

As well as being "the sole administrator" are you RUNNING the program as Administrator? (this is NOT the same!)
Right click the program icon and select Run as Administrator from the options
If that works, go back to the program icon and check the "always do this" box (not named that, not at my editing computer) so every time you start PPro you are using the Run as Administrator option (and, do the same for Encore)
