NoRoutetoHostException on installing Java Security Config Assistant in 10G
Hi
I am trying to install the infrastructure for Oracle 10G AS 9.0.4 on Red Hat Linux 2.1 Advanced Server. The installation proceeds smoothly upto the time that I have to install the Java Security Configuration Assistant when it throws the No Route to Host Exception. No clue in logs either. Please hellllllllllllllppppppp!!!!
Hi Sayali!
Check if you network cfg is ok before you start the installation.
What works with me is:
a) Check /etc/hosts
first entry should be
- insert your ip address --
192.168.1.2 yourmachine.yourdomain.com machine
127.0.0.1 localhost
b) in /etc/sysctl.conf
kernel.domainname = yourdomain.com
execute as root sysctl -p
c) Set /etc/nsswitch.conf to use files for names resoultion
d) if you use dns make sure that you receive the right answer for your name and ip address
e) make sure that the firewall on the RH machine is off (iptables)

Java Security Configuration Assistant fails to install
Hello,
I have a problem because Oracle Application Server 10g for Windows doesnt install. I have tried several times on various systems, but every time I have the same error when the installer comes to the "Java Security Configuration Assistant"
The command being spawned is:
C:\oracle2\product\10.1.0\Db_1/jdk/bin/javaw -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true -classpath C:\oracle2\product\10.1.0\Db_1\dcm\lib\dcm.jar;C:\oracle2\product\10.1.0\Db_1\j2ee\home\jazn.jar;C:\oracle2\product\10.1.0\Db_1\j2ee\home\lib\jaas.jar;C:\oracle2\product\10.1.0\Db_1\j2ee\home\oc4j.jar;C:\oracle2\product\10.1.0\Db_1\jlib\ojmisc.jar -Doracle.security.jazn.config=C:\oracle2\product\10.1.0\Db_1\j2ee\home\jazn\install\jazn.xml oracle.security.jazn.util.JAZNInstallHelper -log C:\oracle2\product\10.1.0\Db_1\cfgtoollogs\jaznca.log -realm jazn.com -user admin -oldpwd welcome -newpwd 05f2d5c792fb24147255fbe8169f54594b -oh C:\oracle2\product\10.1.0\Db_1 -clearpwd false
Only the first parameter is interesting :
C:\oracle2\product\10.1.0\Db_1/jdk/bin/javaw
It has a mixture of slahes (/) and backslashes (\), the first half C:\oracle2\product\10.1.0\ is ok but the second half Db_1/jdk/bin/javaw is not compatible with windows (slahes are for unix path only), so it obviously doesnt work because this path with a mixture of / and \ is not correct. At this point, the installation of Oracle AS fails.
Does anybody know a cause for this, or a workaround to get AS installed ? ThanksThe mixture of slashes and backslashes isn't an issue for Windows. I have examined the failure of the assistant, but with the new release of AS10g (release 2), I would like to know if you still have the problem you describe.

Installation Problem --- Stuck at "Java Security Configuration Assistant"
When installing Oracle BI 10g, the procedure stuck at "Java Security Configuration Assistant"
Output generated from configuration assistant "Java Security Configuration Assistant":
Invoking command:C:\OraHome_1\dcm\bin\dcmctl.bat resyncInstance
OS: Windows 2003 Ent. (SP1)
Memory: 1G
Does anybody knows the reason? and solve
Thanks,Hello,
just to keep you inform.
I put that project on the side for a while... But this morning, I tried Branislav recommendation.
So, I completely uninstall my McAffe Firewall and reboot the computer.
After that, I completely re-install the application server and everything work fine. It only took around 2-3 seconds to do the resyncinstance and updateconfig, compare to 3 hours the last time just for the resyncinstance. Total time for the infrastructure installation was around 1 hour.
Like Branislav said, only stopping the McAfee Firewall was not enough.

OMS Config Assistant fails with OUI-25031
Hello,
I am trying to install OEM 10.2.0.1 GC on a Solaris 5.10 (Solaris 5.9 too) box, using an existing DB which is a 10.1.0.4 on HPUX Itanium 11.23.
It keeps failing with OUI-25031 at the OMS Config. Assistant.
I have tried all the suggestions:
- SUBSCRIBE_FOR_NODE_DOWN_EVENT_LISTENER=OFF
- setting the locale to C in the /etc/default/init file
- using IP instead of hostname
Has anyone found the solution to this?
Thanks,
GinaDamien,
Yes, during the install I entered the full path.
mnazim,
Here is the log. FYI: this is an HA env. The virtual host is vhoem. The physical host is phoem1.

DB Config Assistant Problem post install
I have downloaded Oracle 8i Personal Ed from Oracle Technet. I have gotten almost to the end of installation onto Win2K Professional. It has successfully configured Net8 Config Assistant and OMS NT Service, but the Oracle DB Config Assistant configuration fails. The dbSilentCreate.log file only says the following :
8i is an invalid command line argument.
Can you help me out please.
Thanks In Advance
Andrew
nullcan you be a bit more specific about which parameters you need help with?
defaults are (to my understanding):
Listener port number: 1521
Database SID: $ORACLE_SID
Service name: $ORACLE_SID
Email address for notification: [email protected], if left null no emails are sent
Email gateway for notification: localhost (if you have sentmail or postfix installed and configured)
Password for dbsnmp: secret?
Password for sysman: secret?
Password for sys: secret?
This should help you.
@andreas: giving the advice to run a script that jlopes needs help with, isn't the best advice in the world. Trying to get your postcount up? -
Alternative to set "java.security.auth.login.config" ?
In all examples of using JASS, it uses the following way.
System.setProperty("java.security.auth.login.config", fileName)
Is there a way I can specify the policies in code, not in a file? That way I don't have to worry about file permissions.
p.s. Thanks for Seema-1 who anwsered my last question.

maqiang9111Has anyone done the same thing for the java.security.krb5.conf setting? I tried setting it using the same form of URL that I use for java.security.auth.login.config, and I get this error when the kerberos code attempts to use it:
Could not load configuration file jar:file:\C:\dev\workspace\myapp\client-data.jar!\krb5.ini (The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect)
The corresponding login context conf file in the same jar loads fine. -
9iAS Install: Config Assistant, Randomize Password Failing
Am installing 9iAS Rel 2, on a windows 2000 SP 2.
The hardware is as P3 Xeon with 4 CPU's and 3 Gig of Ram.
Install is failing on multiple config assistants but the first one to fail is the Randomize password. The error on the screen says, "oracle.ias.repository.schema.SchemaException: Cannot connect to this database".
I looked in the InstallActions log and this is the error,

I bring up a command dos window and can connect to the database just fine. i.e.

Anybody have any ideas? Sure would be appreciated.
ThanksHi, we have exactly the same problems.
The Single Sign-On configuration assistent won't install either, as does the mod_osso.
Have you found a solution ?

Hi All,
I try to run an applet from Solaris 8 server on some client machine using IE5 and NetScape 6.2 ( I installed JRE 1.4, I also try other JRE versions) but I get the following errors again and agian,
I even try to use appletviewer on the Solaris Box itself to open the applet but it makes no difference same errors
could somebody please help or give me a hint how should I start tracing what the problem might be ?
this applet comes with Solaris Bandwidth Manager as a gui administration tool ( webbased ) it supposed to change the configurations remotly over the web. I asure there is no solaris permission problem exist.
I use Tomcat on the server side.Installed JDK 1.3 on Solaris 8 with all the default settings.
i suppose something should be done with java.policy or java.security files i know nothing about java security please at least give me some URL's to find out more about this matter i searched a lot but couldn't find good documents about java default security restrictions

mehmadI dont know, but It may be that an Applet can only access the local machine. ie. If you run the applet on computer A and you want to edit the config on computer B, I do not believe you can. The applet can only talk to Computer A. You would have to:
1) Run an application on computer A and the applet would tell the application what to change.
2)Maybe sign the applet in a JAR File
You will probably have to do #1.

Hello,
I am trying to install Java SE for Embedded 7 ARM v6/7 Linux Headless on my Pogoplug ARM v6 running Linux Arch.
For this I downloaded the .tar.gz file from Oracle's website ( version=7u4-armv6-eabi-k2.6.28-libc2.9-hflt-le), applied the tar command to decompress, moved the result to /opt/java, adapted the enironment variables by editing the /etc/profile file as follows:
PATH="/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/opt/java/bin"
export PATH
export JAVA_HOME="/opt/java"
export PATH="opt/java/bin:$PATH"
when running an application that needs JAVA, I get:
17015 Illegal instruction java -Declipse.ignoreApp=true -Dosgi.noShutdown=true -Djetty.port=8080 -Djetty.port.ssl=8443 -Djetty.home=. -Dlogback.configurationFile=logs/logback.xml -Dfelix.fileinstall.dir=addons -Djava.library.path=lib -Djava.security.auth.login.config=./etc/login.conf -Dorg.quartz.properties=./etc/quartz.properties -jar $cp $* -console
I assume Java is not installed correctly (it is the first time I install manually)?I see the same error for my ARM9 from Atmel. I think it's because my ARM9 AT91SAM9263 processor is ARMv5TEJ and ejre1.6.0 require ARMv6 or above. Don't mix up ARM9 and ARMv6. It's different thing.

AppServer8 - java.security.AccessControlException
Sorry this is a repost. I didn't see this forum originally. I have a web-app which uses jasperreports to build .pdf's. Its running on our newly installed app server - Sun Java System app server 8. When the app tries to load a jasper template file and create the pdf, the following exception is thrown. Can someone explain to me what this means and possibly how to resolve it? Thanks

You should be able to grant additional permissions to your application by editing the INSTALL_ROOT/domains/domain1/config/server.policy
An entry like this should do the trick --
grant {
permission java.lang.RuntimePermission "createClassLoader";
To secure the server more, you might want to grant this permission to a specific codebase.

Searching the internet for solutions to this and some discussion with Adobe.
Adobe say Photoshop does not use java so it should not be asking for a java runtime.
The question is how can I stop Photoshop asking to install java since Photoshop does not need or use Java to run?
Found various links that might be helpful:

Adobe's Installing Java SE 6However as I have Oracle Java SE 7 installed and SE 6 is deprecated and no longer supported for security reasons.
Apple is actually responsible for Java 6's security. They take Oracle's code and do whatever is needed to make it compatible with Apple's OS. Java 6 is still getting security updates from Apple. Versions 6 and 7 can also exist on the same drive. They won't interfere with each other.
Also I am assured in no uncertain terms by Chris Cox over at Adobe that Photoshop CS 5 does not use java at all and that the java error message and so called dependency is just an error on the part of Apple.
I did find a topic where Chris stated that for CS6, which I know is true. I've installed CS6 (and CC) on a newly formatted drive in Mountain Lion, and neither made any mention of requiring Java. Could have sworn CS5.5 and earlier did you Java for a few functions. Though I likely only assumed that since that version and earlier always causes a prompt to install Java if it isn't already on the drive.
So is there any way to run Photoshop with SE 7 only installed or even better with no java installed?
It doesn't really matter much if Java is installed. Java 6 should put an app in the Utilities folder by the name of Java Preferences. Open that, and you can completely disable it by undoing the check boxes.
Perhaps there is a way to make OS X stop thinking it needs java SE 6 to run Photoshop CS 5.
Apple would have to make a change to the OS itself. It's a not a user accessible setting. -
Because of the security issues with Java, I uninstalled Java 6 (using various terminal commands) and installed Java 7 from Oracle's website. Looking at /Library/Internet Plug-Ins, I can see that JavaAppletPlugin.plugin is there, and Get Info tells me that it is part of Java 7 Update 09.
However, when I use Safari to try out a Java test page, or use one of the Java-based programs that I need to run for work, I get a message that says, "To open “PluginProcess,” you need a Java SE 6 runtime. Would you like to install one now?" (PluginProcess is replaced by the program name if I am running a Java program.) If I click "Install", the Apple version of Java 6 gets installed.
This doesn't make sense to me. Why would Java 7 need the Apple Java 6 environment? And why doesn't Safari or other Java based programs recognize that the Java 7 JavaAppletPlugin.plugin is on my computer already?
Although I'm not really an IT person, I am pretty handy with the Terminal and command line operations, so if fixing this means using the command line, I'm good with that.
Thanks!I think I've found a solution to the problem that Java Applications doesn't use Java 7. This seems to work for me. Try it and please confirm if it works for you.
1.
Install Java SE Development Kit 7u9 from Oracle
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk7u9-downloads-1859576 .html
2.
Execute something that triggers the prompt to install Java SE 6. for example i web site using java applet. And follow through with the installation. (after this you will have three java versions: Java6 32-bit, Java6 64-bit, Java7 64-bit)
3.
Open a new terminal window and execute the following commands.
$ cd /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions
$ sudo rm CurrentJDK
Password: ********
$ sudo ln -s /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1.7.0_09.jdk/Contents/ CurrentJDK
$ sudo ln -s CurrentJDK 1.7
$ sudo ln -s CurrentJDK 1.7.0
Note: I don't know if the last two lines are necessary, but I just tried to follow the existing pattern.
