Norton identity safe with firefox 5 and windows 7 compatibility?

Will my Norton Identity Safe work with Firefox 5 and Windows 7?

This is an old thread and the question was asked in relation to Firefox 22.
We are now on Firefox 23.0.1
If anyone has a problem using Norton with Firefox 23.0.1 or Firefox 23 please start a new thread. Use [/questions/new]
mikeymack2002 says above
''1 temporarily disable Firefox auto update''
'' 2 download the new version of FIREFOX ...''
'' just simply that it doesn't like the new Firefox update at present,''
If I understand that correctly mikeymack2002 is saying Norton does not like the Firefox updater. If that is the case it is a separate problem. Please start a new thread.
I do not wish to go off topic and continue discussing Firefox 23 and Norton here but will just add some information before locking this old and solved thread.
With regard to Firefox 23 please note this Norton post about Norton <s>not</s> '''now''' being compatible with Firefox 23

  • How to go back to Firefox 3.6? I cannot use Norton Identity Safe on Firefox 4 and I need use it often.

I was using earlier version of Firefox and it worked perfectly. Then I changed over to the 4.0 version and now I can no longer use the Norton Identity Safe. This is no good for me. I am now having to use Internet Explorer instead of Firefox. I would prefer to use Firefox. How can I go back to the earlier 3.6 version which was just fine as it was. The 4.0 version is good also except for knocking out the use of Norton Security features.

I need to return to Firefox 3 because I do not have an Intel Mac. The Mozilla window telling me to upgrade kept showing up, so I upgraded. But now I can't find an earlier version of Firefox to download.

  • Can I use Norton toolbar and Identity Safe with Firefox ?

I currently use Chrome on my Windows 8.1 PC , and I am considering switching to Firefox following good reviews , but I would want to be sure I can use my Norton Identity Safe and toolbar .

Yes, Norton keeps their Firefox extensions up-to-date with the Firefox release schedule; the updates are usually available within hours (if not minutes) after Mozilla releases a new version of Firefox. Much, much better than other Security Suites that are currently available.
As already mentioned, all the user needs to do is to run a Norton Live Update after Firefox is updated, although sometimes the user may need to run the Live Update a few times to get all the updates to download and install.

  • Questions with macbook pro and "windows server compatibility"

I know this is prob not the area to be posting this but i need a quick answer. I am trying to get a mac book for work and the office techs are very anti mac. They say the only reason that i am not allowed a mac is because its "not compatible with the network". all that i uses is Microsoft Outlook for mail. Is there a way i can still access my email with Safari? If anyone could give me a detailed answer with the limited info i have provided it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Your techs at work are simply unknowledgable. "Incompatible with the network" is a ludicrous response to your request. A more responsible reply would be that they have limited expertise and that they would provide what help they can but cannot commit to anything other than basic support. That seems reasonable to me.
With regard to Outlook. They may or may not support Outlook Web Access. If they do, you can easily use it though it looks a little different on the Mac than PC it operates the same.
If they do not use OWA, you can still get a copy of Entourage for Mac OS X. It's Microsoft's "Outlook" for the Mac and is included in Microsoft Office for Mac (a new version due out later this year).
Then again, you could run Windows in a VM when needed for specific items until they implement an accomodation for you.
That said, it's not uncommon for a shop with dedicated Microsoft personnel to entirely eschew compatibility and standards in favor of just-Microsoft solutions. You might find yourself in situations where they implement various web-based tools or utilities that you can't use. They also may have in place protocols for backing up files and such that presume a Windows client. The staff may have some valid concerns that your support demands will incur extra work (if nothing else, extra thought) on them without any substantial return (to them) on that investment of time and effort.

  • Why doesn't the newest edition of Firefox allow my Norton Identity Safe program to work in conjunction with it

    Hello
I have been prompted to upgrade Firefox several times now and I actually did once but ended up performing an uninstall after finding out it doesn't work with my very expensive Norton Identity Safe/ Virus Software. Is there any way to remedy this issue as I won't abandon the software I have already purchased and would really like to continue using Firefox (definitely fewer issues than the internet browser that came pre-downloaded on my new laptop).
    Thank you for your time
    Ash

I have heard that Norton released an update patch for Firefox 5.0 on Tuesday 06-21 when Firefox 5.0 was released. ''(versus taking their normal six to eight weeks)'' Some Norton users have reported that the toolbar may not work if the Norton patch was installed before Firefox 5.0, instead if after Firefox 5.0 was already installed.

  • Can only load Norton Identity Safe in one Firefox window.

I can only load Norton Identity Safe in one Firefox window. I used to be able to open up my Identity Safe and log in on any open window. Now it only opens in the first Firefox window I open, but not in any others. Can I fix this problem ?

    Hi,
You can try deleting [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Localstore.rdf localstore.rdf] and [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Sessionstore.js sessionstore.*] files in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder profile folder] after exiting Firefox. To open the profile folder via Firefox: '''Help''' ('''Alt''' + '''H''') > '''Troubleshooting Information''' > '''Show Folder'''.
[http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder & Files]
Please note that deleting the sessionstore.* files would also forfeit the open tabs so you may want to bookmark them. You can '''Bookmark All Tabs''' by right-clicking on a tab. For the [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/what-are-app-tabs?s=tab+group&r=2&as=s App tabs] you would have to bookmark them individually.
If the problem persists, the [http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Toolbar-Norton-Identity/bd-p/Toolbar_IDSafe Norton support] would also be helpful regarding any new issues in the toolbar functionality.

  • Trouble w/Norton Identity Safe and Registration and Log In to Firefox Add-ons and Firefox Help pages

I don't understand it, but now it let me login that time to give more details. So, I don't know...this is very confusing to get an updated Version (8) and not have Norton Identity Safe. I've rebooted, run the Norton Live Update several times.
Then, the Firefox Help wouldn't let me log in to the page, said I already existed, but wouldn't let me have access to the page. Then, once I asked the question, it recognizes me. Very confusing stuff.
Could not sign in to the Firefox Add-on page, either.

  • Upgraded to Firefox 4.0, and Norton Identity Safe quit working. How do I fix?

Norton Identity Safe won't work with Firefox 4.0

I just got off chat with Norton Tech support. A hot fix by the end of the week or early next week is on the way! It will be in the auto update. I went back to the previous version just because of this topic.

  • Ever since I downloaded Firefox my Norton Identity Safe Logins and Cards disappeared from the toolbar and the logins don't autopopulate anymore. How do I get Identity Safe passwords to work again and appear in toolbar?

I have a lot of logon user id's and passwords created in Norton Identity Safe product. They are still there and I can view them in Norton, but they are no longer on my toolbar and no longer work automatically to fill in the website logons they were created for.

  • I recently upgraded to 4.0 and it does not recognise my norton identity safe. I was told by norton that it would be another month before ff 4.0 would recognise my identity safe

    ''locking as a duplicate - https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/804125''
I recently upgraded to FF4.0. after I upgraded I found out that 4.0 dose not recognize my Norton Identity tool bar, so I can't use my Norton identity safe, which I was able to use in FF3.6. I spoke to Norton and they told me it would be at least a month more before FF4.0 would recognize my Norton tool bar. How can I go back to FF3.6?

Symantec have released updates for Norton 360 and Norton Internet Security to make them compatible with Firefox 4, for details see http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Internet-Security-Norton/Firefox-4-compatibility-hotfix-is-now-available/td-p/428894

  • If I update to Firefox 4 will I lose all the entries in my Norton Identity Safe as happened on a previous update?

Previously when I upgraded to a new version of Firefox, I had lost all of the entries in the Norton Identity Safe which I use to store all my logins. I had to get help from Norton to get it set up again, so don't want to upgrade to Firefox 4 if this is likely to happen again.

Errors 3000-3999 (3004, 3013, 3014, 3018, 3164, 3194, and so on): Error codes in the 3000 range generally mean that iTunes cannot contact the update server (gs.apple.com) on ports 80 or 443.
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Verify the computer's date and time are accurate.
Check that your security or firewall software is not interfering with ports 80 or 443, or with the server gs.apple.com.
Follow Troubleshooting security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
An entry in your hosts file may be redirecting requests to gs.apple.com (see "Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com" above).
Internet proxy settings can cause this issue. If you are using a proxy, try without using one.
Test restoring while connected to a known-good network.

  • Will Firefox 6.0 support Norton Identity Safe now? If not now, when?

I lost Norton Identity Safe when I upgraded to Firefox 5.0. I don't want to upgrade to 6.0 until I know it will support this plug-in. I DO NOT like Last Pass plug-in; every time I use it I get the error message that I am not on line and I know I am.

If identity safe, part of Norton 360, doesn't work with the new version I do not want to waste my time with it.

  • Why is Norton Toolbar still disabled even with updated Norton Identity Safe Toolbar in FF 19.0.2?

I have FF 19.0.2 installed with Norton Internet Security 2013 at my office. Both the Norton Identity Safe Toolbar and Norton Toolbar are updated and working fine. At home, I am using the exact same FF 19.0.2 with the exact same Norton Internet Security 2013 but only the Norton Identity Safe Toolbar is enabled. The Norton Toolbar (shows older version of 1.0.32), however, is disabled. I have tried a Norton Live Update numerous times and have even uninstalled FF 19 and re-installed it. Nothing works. I cannot get the Norton Toolbar enabled. And until I get it enabled I cannot use Norton Identity Safe. This is very frustrating!
    Any help? Thanks in advance.

That's the problem. I should be using Norton Toolbar version 2013.3.1.3 but it is 2013.1.0.32. I see no way I can manually update it. I do a Live Update but the version doesn't update. I tried re-starting the system, uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox 19.02 (latest version) but nothing works. Extremely frustrating. I even tried going back to FF 18 and even that says that the installed Norton Toolbar 2013.1.0.32 is not compatible. :(
I do believe this IS a Firefox issue. The Toolbar is disabled and Norton support says I just need to click on Enable. Problem is, there is no Enable option. It's just disabled. VERY frustrating!

  • Does current version (6)work with Norton identity safe?

I don't want to upgrade to version 6 if it does not work with Norton 360 identity safe. I know there was a problem with one of the earlier upgrades.

Norton IDS works with Firefox 7, which was released this morning. See Norton support for details.
