Norton products stops BT Softphone from connecting...

Hi, i currently use BT Softphone to make phone calls from my computer and this program happily co-exsisted with my Norton product until quite recently when my copy of softphone started displaying a message saying 'Softphone cannot connect to the network. Please check your internet connection. If the problem continues, you are advised to wait ant try again later. [GW_10500].'. This problem has persisted despite giving the appropriate permission and exceptions! I recently had to re-install my XP-Pro operating system along with BT Softphone software. The Softphone progam continued working until i installed my Norton products, when this problem started all-over again! Also, when i removed my norton products using the Norton Removal tool, the problem remains despite re-installing BT-Softphone directly from the BT website! How can i get the two programs to start working together again?
Regards
Challenger

How do I stop my mac from connecting to a non-secure network in my area instead of my preferred secure network

Linc's answer is correct but I know it does not always work.
If security is critical use a wired ethernet connection preferably with a fixed IP and the router's DHCP server turned off.

  • Stop mobile devices from connecting via anyconnect

I have Anyconnect Essentials + the mobile license. I dont want mobile devices (like iPhones) connecting to my ASA just yet but may in the future. I know I can remove the mobile license but is there another way. (DAP will not work as I would need premium license)

You can solve that with DAP. The Essentials- and Mobile-license can be used to identify the mobile devices. You just can't identify the regular OS without the proper license (premium and hostscan).

    Hi.
I have found that having my WiFi on at the same time I try to pair with my Plantronics 925 prevents me from hooking up. If you have WiFi you may want to turn it off why you pair. Once paired you can then turn your WiFi back on with no problems.

  • How do I stop my iPhone from connecting to the WiFi connection that my laptop just used?

I have an iPhone (7.1.2) and MacBook Pro (10.9.4). When I connect to a WiFi connection on my laptop, my iPhone always connects to the same network, even though I've explicitly told my iPhone to forget about specific networks. This issue ends up disabling the internet on my iPhone, as I often connect to networks on my laptop that require VPN connections, logins, etc that I am unable or unwilling to do on my iPhone. How do I keep the two separate?

Let me give you an example. I'm at a United lounge at O'Hare Airport right now. They have WiFi here but it requires that you log on in order to connect to the internet. I connect to WiFi from my laptop. All good. Then, immediately, my iPhone connects to the same network. But because I haven't logged on from my iPhone, I can't get online. This kills the internet on my iPhone because I'm connected to a network with no internet access. If on my iPhone I "Forget this Network" and then come back next week, I'll find that it connects to the exact same network.
I travel a lot and almost all of the networks I use on a daily basis require a login of some sort.
I could turn off WiFi but then I have to remember to turn it on when I actually do want to connect to a network, like when I'm at home.
Any idea how to prevent the mirroring of WiFi connections? Or at a minimum make sure the "Forget this Network" option actually works?

  • How do I stop my internet from connecting to a certain network when I turn on my computer

  • Stop Wi Fi from connecting automatically

I got the ATT Uverse, but want to connect to my computer by wire. Any time I start it connect Wi Fi automatically. I do not want that, I want to have an option that I will connect when I want to connect. I know that I can do WiFi off, but that is not a solution. I want my Wi Fi on, but not to have the check mark next to the ATT router.
When I asked ATT, they said that they can checkk all muy files by accessing the computer throught the router and WiFi. Is that true? Can they access it and see all my files, its scary. What about the bank accounts?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
I've tried both of these, but it still doesn't work
When doing "Apple Menu / System Preferences / Users & Groups / Login Items ( you have to authenticate with your password)", I checked and there are no login items in my list.
By doing "Go to Safari / Preferences / General, Click on the third line where it says Safari opens with:  and select "A new window"., Instead of Safari automatically opening 2 tabs, It automatically opens 2 windows.
My fear is that it may be something with the pocket wifi from Vodafone I bought that made this problem.
Is there a way to re-install Safari instead? It may be the only solution I have left.
Else, I'll just bring it to the local apple store.

  • I am trying to stop my Xbox from connecting to my Airport extreme base station and only connect to my airport express extender.  Anyone have any ideas?

I have an aiport extreme base station in my living room and an airport express in my bedroom extending the network.  For some reason my xbox along with some other devices always connects to the extreme base station in the living room which has a very low signal.  Is there a way to setup a seperate network for my express extender so that I can connect only certain devices?  HELP

You would probably want your Express to join the network if an extender isn't required. Reset to factory settings and join the network.
If you do want your Express as an extender run an Ethernet cable between the Express and the Verizon router and set the Express up to be in bridge mode, with the same WiFi network name and password as your Verizon router.

  • Why does VPN in OS10.3.9 stop my browser from connecting to the Internet?

Seems like I should be able to VPN in to my office server (using OSX's built in VPN function) AND also be able to connect to the internet with my browser, at the same time. Is there a way to configure my system to enable me to do this?

Whatever the problem was, it disappeared.

  • Stop X3-02 from connecting to 3G automatically

Hello, I have researched a lot on this topic and I've been able to make my phone ask me if I want to connect to Wi-Fi or 3G whenever I open an application like Opera Mini, Communities, or chat. The problem is my phone still randomly connects to 3G when I'm out and about. There seem to be some background processes using data and thus making me waste money. I changed the communities and mail settings but it still connects to 3G randomly. Thanks in advance.

@dradel does 'Automatic' not eqate to 'Don't Ask' ??

  • Cannot stop E52 from connecting

Why is my E52 connecting to the internet, using my service provider, a couple of times an hour? The connections last 5-20 seconds and are costly.
I could not find an answer to precisely this question elsewhere on the forum.

Hi all, i am a user of NOKIA for many years... currently i have E52, E71, and N97 mini all in use.
Lets talk about E52 - I do use MfE to check my company email and that works fine. No problem. But when i try to add a new mailbox like gmail and yahoo account, i realise 2 things.... the GMAIL logo doesnt appear, but my phone is ALWAYS connected to data which annoyed me a lot. typically, only for my MfE i am configered to check email every 30 minutes, and after the phone pull the emails, the data connection will stops by itself, (this is great).
BUT, when i added a gmail or yahoo,.. i dont see any logo of the 2 mailboxes and thedata is always connecting. i was so puzzeled where i can go to stop the data from connecting, in the end, i have to do a *#7370# to reconfigure my mfe and i dare not add gmail and yahoo now...... I also do not understand why the hotmail mailbox is suddenly appears out of no-where. I dont get this problem in e71 and n97 mini.
ALL I WANT IS, when ever i need the data conneciton or require the phone to use data connection at a specific time, that it can auto disconnect after the required usage.... any advice?

  • How do I stop the Finder from seeing SMB (Windows) shares on the network?

I have the OPPOSITE problem most people have -- Windows Sharing works TOO WELL.
I've donated a refurbished eMac to the local homeless shelter. I figured I'd made the system secure, and prevented any monkey business. Turns out the windows machines on the network are COMPLETELY insecure (guest access to everything is enabled). The problem is that the Mac is TOO friendly -- it automatically connects to the server as a guest, and happily presents everything to the user.
I've tried a dozen different things (I've removed the 'Shared' section from the sidebar in the Finder windows (Go->Network is still there, Doh.), tried to turn off File Sharing, and even disabled the mount_smbfs command in the /sbin directory with "chmod 0 mount_smbfs".)
I've asked the folks there to call in a PC tech and fix their security problem -- but it's a good question to which I've found no suitable answer... How to I stop the Mac from connecting to SMB Shares on the local network?
    Thanks.
    -JD.

Same problem, keep getting a pop up with connection failed you do not have permission to access the server. The server is a windows 7 box, Starting happening after an up grade to windows 7. Nowhere can I find how to stop trying to connect. I am sure its at the unix level of samba but what to do is another question

  • Mail abruptly stopped being able to connect with my .mac account. It will download from other accounts.

A week or so ago while I was not at home Mail stopped being able to connect and download email from my .mac account. I can still use Mail to download email from my Gmail and Comcast accounts, however.  I can still download .mac email from my iPad and after installing Thunderbird I can download .mac email on my Mac. I downloaded PostOffice, but it won't download .mac email either. There has to be something that has gotten corrupted. Any ideas of what could be wrong and what I can do to get it corrected?
    Thanks.

    Make that "Postbox" not "PostOffice."

  • Is it okay to delete SymSecondaryLaunch from my Log in at startup Items in System Preferences?  I no longer use any Norton products.

Is it okay to delete SymSecondaryLaunch from my Log in at startup Items in System Preferences?  I no longer use any Norton products.  I have no clue what SymSecondaryLaunch does but it appears to be related to Symantec.

You are not required to have any login items so yes, you can safely remove. However some applications will continue to add it's self back until completely uninstalled. You might have to download an install to get an uninstaller.
