Norton toolbar causing firefox 37 to crash on closing

norton toolbar 2014.7.127 causing firefox 37.0.1 to crash on closing. Its not really a crash because everything works fine but it showing on the crash report. When I disable the norton toolbar everything works fine. Any other sulitions

After a manual Norton LiveUpdate this morning, I applied a patch which updated Norton Toolbar to version 2014.7.12.23 with Firefox 38.0.5. So far, it appears to have addressed the Firefox crash-on-close issue on my Win 7 machine. Here's the Norton Update Announcement: http://community.norton.com/en/blogs/product-update-announcements/norton-toolbar-update-browser-improvement-patch

  • How do i get my norton toolbar with firefox 21, it has all my user names and passwords. I have downloaded every update from Norton. Can I go back to 20?

automatic update disables norton toolbar. it has all usernames and passwords saved in it. Every time Firefox updates it is not compatible with Norton Toolbar. When will this patch be available. If not in the next day, how do i go back to firefox 20 which is compatible

The problem with Firefox updates is that before Comcast or Norton get their ducks in a row and get the Norton Toolbar working, there's another update from Firefox and we're back in the same boat.
Why can't these people work together with every update? I realize the browser is free, but if you want us to use it, it would be nice to get everything ready to work properly with the Norton Toolbar prior to updates. Firefox is a great tool, as is the Norton Toolbar, but tools are no good if we don't have the right ones.

  • I can't use the Norton Toolbar on Firefox 4.0 because it says they're not compatable... how can i get them to work?

The Norton toolbar and the last Firefox i had worked fine together, however, when i updated Firefox, as the information was transferring, it told me that I could no longer use the Norton toolbar because they weren't compatible. It said this even though both of them are updated.

Sorry Tony but that is a chicken-*! response!
I just spent 2 hours getting my system back to 3.6 using your instructions. In the end I had to find the last download of 3.6 in my archived files to make it happen. No Firefox 3.6.x file could be found on the Mozilla or Firefox sites contrary to your instructions.
I deleted all the "extensions" like you suggested. It would have been very helpful if Firefox had stopped me before the installation of 4.0 proceeded to explain the "real" consequences of not having my Norton 4.0 toolbar.
I have been very happy with Firefox for the past 5-6 years but now you have given me a good reason to go research other browsers like Google Chrome.
IMHO it was * poor planning on Firefox's part for this launch!

  • I can't see the Norton Toolbar in Firefox 5

I updated to Firefox 5 and had the whole issue with the Norton Toolbar not showing up.
So I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox 5 and updated Norton and now the Norton Toolbar 5.6 is listed as being compatible but I still can't get the toolbar to show up.

Thanks for that, I'm actually trying to find a solution that doesn't involve reinstalling my Norton product.
Also I'm slightly confused - I'm not sure what you mean by 'the orange firefox button'.
I've been through the list of extensions in the Add ons manager - hence I know that the Norton Toolbar 5.6 is compatible and enabled but I'm just not able to get it to show up on the browser and integrate with my login manager.

  • How do I get Norton Toolbar into Firefox 12?

How do I get Firefox 12 to work with Norton 360. As advised, I've updated Norton using Liveupdate until it says no more updates available, restarted computer THEN tried to locate the Norton addon in Firefox to enable it. However, no Norton addons are listed.
    Help appreciated.thx

    Hi nuyaoh,
If you can't find the toolbar by following the Norton advice:
    [https://www-secure.symantec.com/norton-support/jsp/help-solutions.jsp?lg=english&ct=united+states&docid=v58055475_EndUserProfile_en_us&product=home&version=1&pvid=f-home]
Then it sounds like something has gone wrong with the Norton installation. If the toolbar is not in the add-ons list then I think that means it has not been installed. I would contact Norton Support.
If you can't get a response from them then the next thing I would try would be to completely uninstall Norton and install again from scratch. You would need to ensure that you store the product key or whatever so that you don't lose the time remaining on your licence. I am not a Norton support person or even a Norton user so I don't know what exactly would be involved in this process.
Norton Support should be your first port of call. I hope that helps.

  • Pandora is causing Firefox 21 to crash. All plug-ins are up to date.

When I use Pandora, while using Firefox 21, the browser crashes. I have all of my plug-ins up to date. Firefox has sent crash reports.

Pandora may work differently in Firefox 21, because sites now can use the built-in HTML5 audio player to decode MPEG media. Previously Firefox did not support that, so the stream was played using the Flash player plugin.
It is possible to disable MPEG support so that sites fall back to Flash. If you want to give it a try, you would follow the steps in this thread: [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/959992 How to disable the built-in media player in FFv21?]
It's easily reversed the same way. If you try it, please let us know whether it helps.

  • Shockwave flash causes Firefox 24 to crash

Mozilla needs to get ahead of this. There hundreds of reports of the same crashes and the current solutions don't seem to help. We need on detailed fix for this problem, right out in front on the web site.
Chrome seems to work fine with the plug-in, if you can't fix this problem, we'll have to go to Chrome.
    Using windows XP

    reset defaults
    un-install and re-install firefox<br />
    change settings in Chrome?<br />
Check Firefox for plug-in updates (under Help-troubleshooting, I think it was about:plug-ins)<br />
    delete and re-install shockwave<br />
    I can't remember them all.

  • SmartSheet causes Firefox 29 to crash

I use SmartSheet extensively at work, but since I upgraded to Firefox 29, my browser will crash periodically when working on a SmartSheet. This usually happens when saving a sheet, or while scrolling down a sheet. Does anyone out there have the same problem and can suggest a fix?

FYI, Firefox 30 is scheduled for release tomorrow morning.

  • Firefox 16.0.1 marks Norton Toolbar 2013.1.0.32 as incompatible, while Symantec insists it is compatible.

I have worked with Symantec floor manager and he insisted that Norton Toolbar 20131.0.32 is compatible with Firefox 16.0.1. Moreover, he had sent me screenshots to prove it. Yet, on my computer, Firefox 16.0.1 marks Norton Toolbar 20131.0.32 as incompatible. Even if I enable Norton Toolbar using checkCompatibility 1.3 extension, it still does not show.
I tried uninstalling and re-installing both Firefox and Norton, but to no avail. It seems to me as Firefox issue.
    Any suggestions?

Look carefully at the following page - http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Toolbar-Norton-Identity/Firefox-16-Support-for-Norton-Toolbar/m-p/821572#M4245
It shows a current (new) version of
*Norton Toolbar 2013.1.3.1 -- your image shows that you have version '''''2013.1.0.3''''' (not the latest version)
*That page states, in part -
**''If you are not seeing the Norton Toolbar in Firefox 16, check and make sure you're running NIS or N360 20.1.1.2. Please visit our Norton Update Center to receive the latest update.''
**'''''''<u>You may need to run LiveUpdate and reboot a few times before your product is completely updated to the latest version.</u>''''' It will appear in the LiveUpdate history as Norton Toolbar Add-on for Firefox.''
**The page also states that you may need to click the "Enable" button in Firefox Add-ons. <u>This will not work on your outdated version of Norton Toolbar</u>.
*Additionally, try running the LiveUpdate with Firefox closed.
If the Norton Live Updater is not working properly to install the correct Add-ons, then Norton will need to fix whatever is causing that problem.

  • Why can't I get the Norton Toolbar? In menu, add-ons,extensions, it says Norton toolbar is incompatible & disabled.

I can't get norton toolbar for firefox 36. Have run Norton live update repeatedly; it updated everything fine and applied a patch. When I go to firefox menu>add-ons>extensions, Norton toolbar is grayed out and says it is incompatible with with firefox 36, and is disabled. Help!! I need my Norton vault.

hi Cathie7372, [https://community.norton.com/en/blogs/product-update-announcements/firefox-36-support-norton-toolbar according to Norton] the latest version of the toolbar compatible with firefox 36 is 2014.7.10.26 - yours shows as 2014.7.10.'''16'''...
as norton distributes the updates themselves we probably aren't able to help much - please contact norton's support if you aren't receiving the latest update even after running liveupdate repeatedly. they should be able to help you getting their product up-to-date.

  • Norton Toolbar 5.5 shows as enabled but does not appear as toolbar. Norton Security 2011 has been re-installed w/o correcting problem. Toolbar shows on IE.

Norton Toolbar works on my netbook (Windows XP) but suddenly stopped appearing on Firefox on my desktop (Windows 7). Both are running Firefox V3.6.13. On the View/Toolbars the Norton toolbar does not appear as an option.
I rely on the Norton toolbar and will have to switch to IE (ughhhh!!!) if I cannot restore the toolbar to Firefox.

Tools > Addons > Extensions - does that Norton extension appear in that listing?
''' '' "... They also point to the fact that I can access the toolbar through IE 8 as proof that their product is not at fault. " '' ''' <br />
That answer from Norton wasn't accurate. IE uses a different version of the Norton toolbar than Firefox needs.

  • How can I stop Firefox 34 from crashing when I click a button on the NOrton 360 toolbar??

I have the latest Norton 360 and fully updated. Also have FF 34.05. After anywhere between an hour and 3 hours, clicking any of the Norton Toolbars buttons that open options and provide multiple log in options FF crashes and when I reopen it it brings up my old tabs and at the end it brings up the FF welcome screen. In the options, it changes my opening page to the Norton Welcome page and the option to open previous tabs which was there with open default site which now it the welcome screen. Need help as have tried several fixes from the net and none so far work. Have allowed FF to reinstall the pref file, have removed hardware acceleration as well as put flash into a non protected mode and none help.
Don't know if it is a FF or Norton issue but, it is a real issue. Please help.

Thanks for your quick turn around. I'd be surprised if corrupt files as I only got the machine last Thursday but, it was a refurb so perhaps issues from the previous owner.
Do have some questions as follows:
It is a Windows 8.1 64 machine so will the fix recommended work??
looking at the page, appears option 2 is my best bet but, won't start until I get the go for Win 8.2. Assuming this is a good fix and since I would be doing it with the system and not a program, no malware??
As far as drivers, do have a app from HP that updates drivers and I updated everything after I got it going so should have the latest drivers and I did try alone unclicking the machine acceleration and no change there but, with the scan, might help. I have run all of the Windows updates which were quite a few with a new computer and do have Windows set to perform automatic updates so don't think I need to worry about graphic drivers??
Your thoughts on my questions before running the scan at the elevated admin level. By the way, I am the admin so do I simply run as admin or is there a higher thing I need to do to run at High Administrator???
Also, if after I run the scan and repair, if OK on Win 8.1 should I send your results to Norton for them to look at since almost all of the problems are with Norton and perhaps they have a fix with those issues and having running the driver fix should help them?? Also will the scan and repair indicate what was fixed and what wasn't.
Sorry so many questions but, don't want to mess up my new machine.
    Thanks so much,
    Dave

  • I wish to uninstall firefox 6 update and go back to my original version so that my Norton toolbar will work. How do I do this?

I need the Norton toolbar, which was available until a few minutes ago when the latest update came in for firefox. Anyway, I would like the toolbar enabled or the means to undo the update. Help

The policy of totally ending support of the previous version seems incredibly unfriendly to users -- to the extent that this policy is likely to drive many long time users (like me) to other browsers. Although I can understand that EVENTUALLY support for very older versions cannot be justified; however, when a new version causes multiple and severe disruption incidents of web browsing, there really should be some way to revert back a version or two or three. As soon as I updated to version 6 a few days ago, I suddenly began experiencing "hangs" (freezes) on several web sites. The FireFox policy seems to be that everything else in the world needs to be "upgraded" to be compatible with FireFox's newest version. Well, sorry ... I dislike being forced to expend countless hours trying to "upgrade" not only add-ons but other software and perhaps hardware too ... because suddenly so much is incompatible to the newest FireFox! I had a long list of incompatible add-ons that will not work with the newest FireFox and not a single one had an update that would resolve the situation. Yet FireFox's published comments seem to deny that the problem is in their newest version -- FireFox is okay, everything else has a problem. Well, the simple solution to that is to junk FireFox and use a different browser!

  • Will my Norton security suite and Norton toolbar work with the new Firefox?

A previous version of Firefox eliminated my Norton toolbar and I had to reload an older version of Firefox to get it back. I have been reluctant to upgrade to newer versions of Firefox because of this issue. Are you now compatible with Norton?

It depends on which version on Norton you have: I have '''Norton Security Suite '''(not to be confused with '''Norton 360'''). Norton Security Suite is provided free to Comcast customers. [http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-360/Which-is-better-Comcast-free-Security-Suite-or-360/td-p/320970 The updates to Norton Security Suite seem to be a bit behind Norton 360]. Currently Norton states their Norton 360 product can be updated using [https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/kb20100720113635EN_EndUserProfile_en_us?q=Firefox+22 Live Update ] so the toolbar will work in Firefox 22, but this does not seem to fix the toolbar issue with Norton Security Suite. This is a highly frustrating issue that causes me not to want to update Firefox.
