Norton warning after 7.3 install

When i upgraded to the latest itune software i got a norton pop up that said itunes was listening for other computers trying to connect. i set it to block any connections to this program. will this prevent the activation of the iphone?

While I know it exists, I don't know a lot about the new music sharing capabilities in iTunes. Did some new files get added to the iTunes installation package, regarding this?
Sometimes the machinery itself doesn't have to change for this to come to Norton's attention. With NIS 2004 and NIS 2006 (personal experience) and NIS 2005 (interpolation), a brand new set of rules is created for each new version of iTunes. So there's potential for NIS to get grumpy about a feature in a particular new itunes version, even though that feature hasn't really changed between versions.
NIS 2005 used to the worst offender in this regard.
(Actually, my NIS 2007 has been being ominously silent for me after every iTunes or QuickTime upgrade I've done with that in place ... i'm finding that that is making me more nervous than the relentless requests to confirm the new rules that i used to get with 2004 and 2006. I guess it all comes down to what you've grown used to over the years.)

I'm having exactly the same problem......I'm running an iMac with OS X 10.10.1. We have BT fibre optic business broadband. It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.
Delete the files extensions.* (e.g. extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini, extensions.cache) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.

I am wondering how to download Mountain Lion onto my second iMac, after the initial install. I understand the purchase is for multiple computers, but I have completed the install on my first iMac.

Once you’ve purchased Mountain Lion, find the installer on your Mac. It’s called Install OS X Mountain Lion.app and it should have been downloaded to your main Applications folder (/Applications).
Right-click (or Control+click) the installer, and choose Show Package Contents from the resulting contextual menu.

Help please, Win XP SP PC, Audigy just fine, then install SP2, access denied 50% of the way through, install does a rollback, warning that some things may not work so well, and its lost me my sound :angry:Tried registry fixes progs, Creative diagnostics say hardware not found, but PC is dual boot and under Win2K audigy works fine. No doubt some tick box or entry somewhere corrupted. I have tried reloading the software from the CD back on, tried also uninstalling from CD then reinstalling, tried uninstall from add/rem progs then new install. Have not removed card as working in win2K so not card seating problem.Ghost copied back on the copy I made of my boot dri've prior to messing about with fixes, then tried for a repair from CD. Hi John-CL,PC tailor made to my own specs, March 2004, Win XP home SP is PC, this was around then and I wanted everything ok for such. The Motherboard is an MSI 875P neo (lovely board great reviews) having come out circa that time, all latest for XP.Audigy 2 ZSDevice Manager also blank after that SP2 install failed, unable to fix that despite many forum postings by others with same problems usually resolved with permissions in registry.A lot of the XP issues seem to end up in there, permissions, admin etc.Don't suppose video card details matter here. Same issues here:
- When powering the MB on the battery, the MB can go off suddenly without warning, usually at about 20% but, since it started about 2 months ago, it occurred also at 7%, between 30 and 40% and even 70% once… It occurs every time when on batteries. And every time, if I start the computer again, it will shut down suddenly without warning after a few seconds/minutes. When back on mains, it can be powered on normally. It does not go to sleep, it's a complete and sudden power off without warning.
- The battery at about 173 cycles sees its capacity dwindling way too much (it's been dwindling since day one, but it's going down faster and faster, the graph since November 2007 in MiniBatteryLogger is edificatory). The capacity right now is between 2900 and 3460 depending of the feel of the day. It's been calibrated regularly since day one in July 2007. Note that the capacity dwindled from its original capacity but never went higher than this value even if along the way it recovered sometimes more capacity.
I have tried all the tricks from calibrating a little bit more often, reseted the SMC, even a complete system reinstall (that I wanted to do anyway as I had to get rid of the evil spotlight bug). All this to no avail.
So what? :-/

I have tried numerous times to download after effects but it just won't install. It says "Installation Failed". This is the error message I get.

I've uninstalled previous versions, and I don't know what to do now.

I originally had Adobe Photoshop Extended, then upgraded to the Production Suite. I ran the Adobe Cleaner, and that uninstalled most Adobe products, including my existing Adobe install, and then I re-installed everything with the same error code. Since CS4 came with CS5, I've installed AE CS4, but would really like to upgrade because I'm new to Creative Suite, and not sure how CS4 integrates with CS5...CS4 After Effects installed perfectly. I do have a 64 bit system, and installing to an OCZ Vertex 2....every other suite installs perfectly, except AE. And I think that is the coolest program in the Suite. I thank you all so much for taking the time to help, I really want to get AECS5 running...I did try to install after doing the recommended items Adobe suggests for Exit Codes 6 and 7, including turning off many startups...

Message about buying PAGES update after buying and installing

after buying and installing the 2014 update to PAGES, i am still getting a message to do that, in order to open older PAGES docs.

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5.2 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.2 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Older versions of Pages 5 can not open files from later versions of Pages 5.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud and opened in a newer version of Pages is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has removed almost 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

My Norton security expired, so I installed free McAfee Internet Security. Right after that, any volume indicators disappeared (up, down, mute). I don't know what could have done that?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall press on)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

I am not able to run after I've installed MF3.6. Now it will not let me uninstall the program.

Time Warner told me that because I was running 3 browsers I had a "conflict". I had Mozilla, Google Chrome, and Internet Explorer8. We had a poweroutage on cable: both tv and computer (Time Warner's problem). When power came back I could not open my Mozilla Firefox, the other browsers were working. This problem began approximately on Jan 28, 2011. I had the older version of Firefox on Jan. 28th. I was not able to uninstall this from my computer without the help from the tech at Time Warner. We then installed the newer version 3.6. Removed Google Chrome. Again I could not get 3.6 to open. Time Warner told me to contact the manufacturer because "something was afecting my registry".
I contacted ZT, through the Safe Mode we uninstalled 3.6 and installed 3.6. Again, it does not open . I tried to uninstall the progam again and the same message appears: that it is in the process of uninstalling or changing, but it does not start the process of uninstalling. ZT told me to contact Mozilla Firefox.
I have been using Mozilla Firefox for years and would like to continue-

Make sure you take package structure into account.
If you have say

After trying to install update on MacAir error message and then message saying panic (cpu caller 0xffffff800a859241): "Unable to find driver for this platform: \"ACPI\".... I'm worried as all of my work is on my computer and I'm afraid I will lose it all.

No good news I'm afraid. I have been through ALL the system caches and files that were updated at the time of said issue. Reset - rebuild and even gone back to my TimeMachine copy from earlier this AM. Nothing! Can only assume it is something deeper in the /usr or var or private folders.....
I have cloned the system and core files (/usr, /private) etc etc to an external HD and it still recreates the fault. I am afraid to say I have no more time at the minute to look at so have put my machine back to 2 hours prior via my TimeCapsule.
I the absense of anyone else or, indeed, Apple fixing in the next 12 hours, will get back onto it from the cloned copy I have kept and see if I can find the offending file/files...

I booted from my recovery partition, erased my HD, installed the same OS, (Lion, 10.7.5) then restored from my TM.
If it asks if i want to use TM, I say yes. When I chose the drive, it seems to want to start all over, instead of just picking up where I left off.
Is there any way of picking up where I left off?

You are sure you looking in your Library in /Users/YOUR_USERNAME/Library and not /Library at the top level of your harddrive?
When you open iCal what do you see? Are the calendars the two default Home and Work ones?

How can i gain access to my data on a Time Capsule after a fresh install of Mavericks? I can't access any backups through Time Machine... They appear purple/transparent, and I can't even select them to view their contents. PLEASE HELP!!!

So, I've got several thousand photos, and a decent amount of videos of my daughter, along with a lot of stuff for work stored on my Time Capsule, and now I can't access any of it. I did a fresh install of Mavericks on my MacBook Pro last week sometime, and haven't been able to figure out how to get my files back. Please Help!!! My daughter is 2 and a half, and every picture/video I have of her is locked on this thing. I was planning on making some photo/video projects fo my wife for Christmas, and now I'm definitely not going to be able to pull it off. Her birthday is at the end of January, though, so if I could have it by then, that would rule!
Basically, the bar on the right of the screen has some gray dates, which I can access (all backups after the Mavericks install), and purple dates that go all the way back to March (when I originally purchased and began using the TC) which deny me access/viewing. It's possible that I created a slightly different user name when I reset my MacBook, which I guess is most likely the cause, but I have no idea what to do now to correct it. Thanks for taking the time!

Try manually mounting the sparsebundle and extract the files you want.

We have avoided Mavericks you see knowing that it would cause these kinds of issues..
You never ever load a new OS without doing a disk image beforehand.. TM is not reliable enough or trustworthy to be depended on.
If none of the above work..
I would get a USB drive on the computer and install Mountain Lion or whatever OS you had before you unfortunately upgraded to Mavericks.. Then use TM from that decent installation but mount the sparsebundle and choose the backup from a date well before mavericks was installed.
Once you have extracted the files.. or even done a full restore you might be able to extract the files you want.
