Not a problem per say....

Okay well let me first start out by saying I am not a Mac newbie just been away for awhile. I got a great deal on a used iMac which I love by the way. Well my problem isn't with my Mac it is with my wireless router/cable modem (yes I have one of those that do both), well since the day I got it (was using a Vista Ultimate laptop at the time) it has been dropping when using the wireless connection to download large files. So fast forward 5 months I am using my iMac now, and have sold the laptop and the wireless connection on the router is still dropping. Well now the router resets itself. I call Linksys about the problem and you guys/gals know what they told me? They told me that they cannot help me what so ever because I am using a Mac and not Windows. So I asked is my warranty no good now, and was informed because they couldn't troubleshoot cause I am using a Mac that my warranty was more or less null and void. Just another way for the Windoze people to screw over Mac users.
Like I said I know that this isn't a problem per say with my computer, but I think it is wrong that because I choose to use a Mac instead of a Windows machine I can't get help/support or anything. Let alone use my warranty for an apparent defective piece of equipment that I paid a nice chunk of change for.
On a brighter note they did give me some settings I could change to see if it helps, and so far so good. Keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't drop out anymore. One last thing....I am so GLAD to be back in a Mac after 12 painful years using Windows.

I talked to one girl, and then her supervisor, and then her supervisor. They all told me the same thing. Guess the real test of if the settings the person I talked to online gave me will work will be when I get home from work tomorrow, and everyone is online. It seems to only happen here lately after like 6PM my time till around 10:30-11:00. So wish me luck I won't have anymore problems and won't have to take it all the way up the corporate ladder.
Still loving being back on a Mac either way. Went out last night and got the wireless keyboard (which is way better than the one they gave me when I bought the iMac) and a wireless Mighty Mouse. They mouse they gave me didn't even have a scroll wheel or anything. Talk about not know what to do till I got the new one. One thing I have noticed is that the wireless keyboard is more responsive than the wired one I had. I could be like typing and it took forever to register and show up. Anyways enough of my rant and praise to the keyboard and mice gods.

I just bought a new hp printer. the software has a feature called HP web smart printing. The feature works on explorer but not on Firefox. HP says this is not their problem and suggested I contact Mozilla. Is an add on available and if not will one be made available.
I am using v. 3.6.13. and the printer is HP Officejet 4500.

HP smart web printing is an application that only works with IE. In spite of what HP have told you, if they want their application to work with Firefox they will need to make a version for Firefox. It is not down to Mozilla to make a version of the HP software for Firefox.

I can not print a PDF from a HP Photosmart Plus B210A. HP says its is a Adobe problem and Adoble says it is not there problem

I am unable to print a PDF file from a HP Photosmart Plus B210a. I contacted HP and they say because the printer does print word docs etc. the printer cannot be the cause of the problem. This is from the Top Level Support team. When contacting Adobe, they say that not being able to print their PDF files is not there problem but HP's.
Another call to HP and they now say it is Apple's problem.
I am in the middle and still can't print a PDF file. When trying to do so, it doesn't print and I receive no error messages. Just nothing. My serial number is
W88110PFZE3 and my operating system is OSX 10.6.8.
Does anyone have a suggestion, or do I just throw out HP?

Try opening the PDF in Preview and see if it will print out of it.

You can go to icloud.com, open Mail, click on the gear shaped icon on the upper right and choose preferences, go to the Vacation tab and set up an auto response saying that the account is no longer in use. Then go to Settings>iCloud and turn Mail to Off on your device and stop using the account.
Incoming email to the account will receive your vacation auto response, and eventually the mailbox will fill up and no longer receive mail at all.

Ok, it sounds like you are getting to the final step. (i.e., Your on your iPhone, showing a good Wi-Fi connection, you are using the App Store and have selected the App you want. The small Icon for your App is showing a bar at the bottom that has an open "fill bar" that is going to track the download and installation of the App. But at this point you get an Error Message. The Error Message Says, "?????" Try again latter? What?
Just for fun, try downloading the App while you and your iPhone are as close to the Wi-Fi Router as possible. Lets see if you are just experiencing a weak Wi-Fi signal. This can cause App Downloads to fail.

Please test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved. Back up all data before making any changes.
Step 1
Take the applicable steps in this support article. The Wireless Diagnostics program generates a large file of information about your system, which would be used by Apple Engineering in case of a support incident. Don't post the contents here.
Step 2
Disconnect all USB 3 devices. If you don't know which are USB 3, disconnect all USB devices except keyboard and mouse.
Step 3
If you're not using a wireless keyboard or trackpad, disable Bluetooth by selecting Turn Bluetooth Off from the menu with the Bluetooth icon. If you don't have that menu, open the Bluetooth preference pane in System Preferences and check the box marked Show Bluetooth in menu bar. Test. If you find that Wi-Fi works better with Bluetooth disabled, you should use the 5 GHz Wi-Fi band. Your router may not support it; in that case, you need a new router.
Step 4
Open the Network pane in System Preferences and make a note of your settings in the Wi-Fi service. It may be helpful to take screenshots of the various tabs in the preference pane. Light Room 4 plugins will not work, problem validating.

I bought LR 3 on Ebay, apparently with a bad serial number, so I bought LR 4,per instruction in the plug in manager page. Problem is plug ins will not work, error msg says serial number is bad. Support says serial number is good but can not fix it.. Support sent me to a link to download latest LR 4, of course this would not work. Support says that is all they can do as they only support LR 5???
Any ideas, maybe registry edit, some hidden file in win 8.1 ????

Has anyone seen this. It seems to happen with ARD 3, have not seen this in ARD 2.
I go to the Install Packages on Target Computers, put in: 10.4.7 Combo (for the correct CPU, PPC or Intel), security updates, QT 7.1.2, etc.
Push it to Macs I can connect to, observe and control.
The progress bar copies the files (in some instances it does not) and then it just hangs there, bar does not move, Installs never finish, not good, very odd.

Is it the same clients that have the problem every time? Are those clients doing anything cpu intensive? Have you tried rebooting the affected clients?
Maybe try a smaller package on those clients.

My DVR security sofware that I access remotely uses a "dvr .ocx" file....when I try it in Firefox , either the latest non beta (3.6.1.5) or the new beta version (4.0 rc) it will NOT work as it says the plugin is missing... it works in IE 8,but not IE9...

My machine is Top of the range (my Company builds them so it had better be :) )
Amd 1100t , 8gb ram , Windows 7 64 bit etc, etc...
The is not a hardware problem , but a software problem with FF...Any help would be appreciated as I hate using IE 8 for anything at all :( but I have to keep it on my machines just to run my remote security cameras at my Computer shop ???

As I own a Computer company I am fairly computer literate but cannot find a plugin that allows this to work in Firefox.... but I would have expected it to work in the new Firefox :(

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
One thing is the memory, and another thing is the hard disk space. You are telling me that you have 200 GB of free space on the hard disk, but the App Store is telling you that you have to install 2 GB of memory or more on your Mac if you want to upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.
First of all, open  > About this Mac > More Info, and copy "Model Identifier" here, so we can know what Mac you have got and how much memory you can install.
We recommend to buy the memory in OWC or Crucial (Crucial is cheaper and offers the same compatibility warranty as OWC) because you won't probably have any problem with the memory you buy there

So, I too have this same old 'user did not respond' problem. I know there are lot of similar problems but this was the last thing left to do – post here. So, audio and video are not working.
