Not a Valid Method Expression
Are conditionals allowed in action attributes?
I have the following in a navigationMenuItem tag:
action='#{userPasswordChangeBB.setupUser ? "" : "PASSWORD_CHANGE"}'
The error I get is:
Not a Valid Method Expression: #{userPasswordChangeBB.setupUser ? "" : "PASSWORD_CHANGE"}
setupUser calls a method isSetupUser() that returns a boolean.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Is this a runtime error or just a validation error coming from an IDE you're using? If the first, please mention which JSF implementation/version you're using. If the second, just configure the IDE preferences to make it a warning rather than an error.

Perhaps you should contact the iTunes store via expresslane. They can look at your account and provide the information you are looking for.
Expresslane.apple.com / select iTunes / iTunes Store / Purchases, Billing and Redemption / then unable to purchase from the iTunes store.
Try the article, and if that doesn't solve the issue, you can Email them, or there may be other options depending on when you access the page, and where you are located. -
I have tried installing SQL Server 2008 multiple times on my machine, and I always receive this error about 3/4 of the way through: '' is not a valid login or you do not have permission.
I have tried installing both SQL Server Express 2008 with Tools and SQL Server Express 2008 with Advanced Services, and they both fail the same way. I am trying to do a new stand-alone installation.
I'm running Windows XP Home Edition SP3.
Looking into the error, some forums say I have to install it from THE Administrator account, and not an account with administrator permissions; it also cannot be in Safe Mode, because then the Windows Installer won't work. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to login to the Administrator account. I can go to the home login screen, do ctrl+alt+del twice, and attempt to login to the Administrator account, but I receive this error: Unable to Log You on because of an Account Restriction.
Other forums say that in the Server Configuration section, all you have to do is provide the username and a strong password from an administrative account on the computer, and it doesn't have to be THE Administrator. Well, I did that, but for some reason it doesn't recognize my username and password, it says something like "The credentials you provided for the SQL Server Agent are invalid". BUT THOSE ARE THE CORRECT CREDENTIALS FOR MY ADMINISTRATIVE USER! So I'm forced to use one of the accounts without a password, like NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM. That's the only way I can get past this step.
Also, just FYI, on the next step, which is Database Engine Configuration, I am using Mixed Mode for the Security Mode. I AGAIN provide a password, and then add my current user (who IS an administrator on my machine!) to the SQL Server Administrators box.
But yet, it fails every single time.
This is pathetic and ridiculous. I must have tried to install this thing 15 times, that is not an exaggeration. I'm posting this on several other forums as well, maybe an MVP or Bill Gates himself can help me.
I have one of the log files from a failed installation. If someone would like to see it, I will post it.Papy Normand wrote:

PS : if you are talking about the Sql Server Agent Service, it is disabled for Sql Server Express. It is enabled only for the Workgroup/Standard/Dev and Entreprise Editions
Sorry, but I've tried the suggestion in that link, and it hasn't helped me.
For anyone wonder, the link is talking about the problem in Server Configuration where I enter my Windows user account and password (which is in the Administrative group), but it says the credentials are invalid. The link suggests that you need to either enter your Windows account (which I did, and it wouldn't let me go to the next step), or to use one of the built in accounts (which I also tried, but it gave me the " '' is not a valid login" error during the installation).
Any other ideas?
I haven't had any answers from any other forums either, so I'll just post my log file in case anyone wants to look at this:

Paypal not a valid payment method for family sharing
I have had paypal configured on my account for years. But now, for some reason while trying to set up Family Sharing on my iPad, it thinks Paypal is not a valid payment method. Should I be trying to set up Family Sharing from iTunes instead of my iPad?
I've read from others that at the preset time you have to use a credit card rather than a debit card. If you're using a debit card you might try entering a credit card instead, at least until the debit card option is restored.

The filter expression is on external data and could not be validated. It may not be supported in Web browser forms.
I am reciveing this error in my infopath 2010 browser form when I am trying to filter a drop down list from sharepoint.
I thought filters were available on infopath 2010 browser forms or are they only available from values inside the form?
I did have a look around the forums but only could find this error occuring during beta stage.
ThanksOk, so you shouldn't be filtering in the form, because that means it downloads the entire list first and then filters out the items. That's client-side filtering. What you want to do is server-side filtering by doing a parameterized query.
Set the data connection NOT to automatically download
Add Form Load rules that do the following:
First, "Set a Field's Value" and set the position query node of the data connection to the value of "manager" (whatever the exact syntax is)
Then query the data connection
Doind this should make it ONLY download items where position=manager instead of downloading all items and filtering. This is a much better practice and was not even available in 2007, so you should make full use of it in 2010. Even so, what you
were doing should have worked anyway, so I'm not sure what's going on there.
When you do the filtered dropdown, your Source field should be the repeating group of the data connection, not the property itself. The property should only be selected in Value and DisplayName. The group should be in the Source field, and THAT'S
where you apply the filter.

Method expression syntax error in jsp jsf 2.0 eclipse
hi i made a simple bean jsp project, n ussed el to call methods in backing bean n show some text on the basis of method called....
the project works perfectly fine, but theres a small issue, that eclipse jsp editor marks the expression as red n shows err.. the proj deploys fine on tomcat, n even works fine with expected results...
wat should i do to fix that err show by eclipse...
using eclipse helios with wtp 3.2, tomcat 7, jsf 2.0, el-api n el-impl 2.2 version jars in tomcat lib.... n latest jstl n standard jars...
eg of jsp call - <h:outputText value="#{myJsfBean.fetchCourseName(studentBean.courseId)}" />
backing bean fn -
public String fetchCourseName(Integer iCourseId){
String theCourseName="";
for(CourseBean aCourseBean:courseBeanList){
if(aCourseBean.getCourseId().equals(iCourseId)){
theCourseName=aCourseBean.getCourseName();
break;
return theCourseName;
jsp editor show err - Multiple annotations found at this line:
- Syntax error in EL
- Expression must be a value expression but is a method
expression
for "#{myJsfBean.fetchCourseName(studentBean.courseId)}" part of the expression
its a trivial issue i think but annoying,, tried to search alot cudnt fix it....
plz helpmy guess is that the project is not setup as being a JEE6 project and is being validated it as if it is a JEE5 application; the ability to be able to call methods with parameters through an EL expression is a new feature of JEE6 (or to be more precise: the el 2.2 API).
Perhaps you can specify in your project properties that this is in fact a JEE6 project? Eclipse Helios should support JSF 2.0 out of the box. -
Bug in Tabular form Not Exist Validation, fails when creating multiple rows
Hi,
I have a Not Exist validation created for a Tabular form:
select 1 from my_table where col1 = :col1 and col2 = :col2Execution State: For created and Modified Rows
which is working fine when a row already there in DB
and I am trying to enter a new row with same data.
but when there's no data and I enter two rows with same data, validation does not fire, first row should allowed to enter
but for second row it should give error that data already exists, which is not happening.
for example,
let's say I have a row in DB with: 1, 2, 3
when I try to add a new row with same data ie. 1, 2, 3 validation fires and showing error, which is fine.
but let's say there's no data in DB and I am entering two rows with:
1, 2, 3
1, 2, 3
validation is not working this time, it is allowing to enter both the rows.
do I need to create a manual validation for this or what?

>> Now I got it, I was under impression that it will validate one by one row before insertion,

Just to clear things up, the APEX engine works exactly as you describe, but this is your problem.
The APEX engine do check\validate all the rows first, one row at a time, and only if all the rows pass validation, the DML processes kick in. The DML processes work on the entire Tabular Form record set (per page view, of course).
In order for your type of validation to work (the one that queries the database), as you want it, the validation and DML actions have to run together, row by row. This is not how things work, because it’s less efficient/optimal, and may lead to a situation where a certain row can fail validation, but other row(s) already been inserted/updated/deleted into/from the database. This could be a very tricky situation.
Vikram has suggested to rely on a database constraint, and control the APEX error message. This is possible, although I’m not sure that in this case, the Tabular Form will retain all the user changes, in case of validation error. You should check it.
Another option, which Marc hinted on, is to manipulate the G_Fxx arrays. In your case, you should loop through the new rows, compute their MD5, and make sure that all the rows have different MD5 values. This is on top of the current validation, which makes sure that the new rows do not already exist in the database.

Arie.

2 errorsAccording to the book I'm reading, if you merely take
out the generic from the code, it should compile and
run in v1.4 (assuming, of course, that the class
exists in 1.4). I don't know what book you are reading but that's certainly incorrect or incomplete at least. I've manually retrofitted code to 1.4, and you'll be inserting casts as well as replacing type references with Object (or the erased type, to be more precise).
These interfaces do exist in 1.4, and
without the generics.Exactly. Which means compareTo takes an Object, and you should change your overriding method accordingly.
But this raises a new question: how does my 1.4
compiler know anything about generics? It doesn't and it can't. As the compiler is telling you, those interfaces expect Object. Think about it, you want to implement one interface which declares a method argument type of Object, in several classes, each with a different type. Obviously all of those are not valid overrides. -

Infopath 2013 SOAP Web Service Data Connection - Error: The file is not a valid XML file
Here are the steps to replicate the issue I’m having when adding lists.asmx or any other SharePoint web service in InfoPath 2013. This web service opens fine in the browser from my desktop. My account is a farm administrator and is added to the
web application’s User Policy. I can use these services just fine using Nintex 2013 Workflow.
Open InfoPath Designer 2013.
Select Blank Form and click Design Form button.
Click “Data” tab.
Click “From Web Service” and select “From SOAP Web Service”
Enter https://mysiteurl.com/_vti_bin/lists.asmx?WSDL for the web service definition.
Click Next.
Windows Security window pops up.
Enter a credential. I tried both my account and the farm account. My account is a farm admin and is added to the web application’s User Policy with Full Control.
Click OK. It prompts for credential multiple times.
I get below this error messages:
Sorry, we couldn't open https://mysiteurl.com/_vti_bin/lists.asmx?WSDL
InfoPath cannot find or cannot access the specified Web Service description.
The file is not a valid XML file.
Not enough storage is available to process this command.
We have a project that is in need of these services using InfoPath so any help is greatly appreciated.Hi Brian_TX,
For your issue, try to the following methods:
Change your service binding in web.config to:binding="basicHttpBinding". It seems in VS it defaults to wsHttpBinding.
Replace all instances of "parameters" from the web service wsdl with the name "parameter"

Oracle error "ORA-01843: not a valid month" when trying to run sqlldr
Hi all,
I'm trying to load some data into a staging database via a CSV file using sqlldr, and am running into an issue where it doesn't like the date format I'm using.
Here is my input data:
2012-01-09 16:28:12 -05:00Here is the entry in the .ctl file:
created TIMESTAMP WITH TIME ZONE 'yyyy-mm-dd HH24:MI:SS TZR'And finally, here is the entry in the .sql file:
created TIMESTAMP WITH TIME ZONEAfter I try to load, I get greeted with the dreaded error message: Record 1: Rejected - Error on table WTPART, column CREATED. ORA-01843: not a valid month
I'm really confused as to why it's blowing up on the date, because it seems to me that "01" is indeed a valid date in terms of the date format I'm using. Any ideas? Thanks!

How to force validator method instead of data type validation in af:table
This post will probably once again illustrate exactly how new I am to the Java/JDeveloper world so thanks in advance for any help! I have tried searching but couldn't find anything that seemed to mirror my problem.
I am using a modification of Frank's idea on how to individually color table cell backgrounds.
http://thepeninsulasedge.com/frank_nimphius/2008/04/10/adf-faces-conditionally-color-table-cell-background-2/
My intention was to use this along with custom validation to color cells with invalid values. It was a user request that it be done so as to quickly spot input errors (when updating records) if someone had missed the initial faces message and was no longer in the field that generated the error. It works fine for fields in my af:table based on VO attributes with varchar2 types but the 2 values with float and number types handle character input with a faces message "Not a number" and then do not seem to process the validator. The reason I (think I) need to use the validator in addition to Franks code is that in the validator code I use an addpartialtarget to the uicomponent that refreshes the background color if it changed in the backing bean.
FYI the project is based on ADF BC/JSF.
I tried gave the full use case as suggested so you understand what I am trying to accomplish and if you have a better way to accomplish this please let me know as well.
Thanks,
Rich

BengalGuyFrank (or anyone else who might offer some advice),
I thought that solved my issue as I could see the validator getting triggered, however something else is now happening. It seems to pass through the validator once for each of the values on my table with the invalid input I entered on one of the numbers, "a" in this case, and then once again through the color change backing bean but at that time the invalid input reverts to the original input and the change is rendered on the af:table as well. Any thoughts ? I put a print in the validator method, in the method that gets called from the validator (checks to see if value can be converted to float) , and then the color change bean (which also calls the float validation test) and pasted the output below.

External Content Typ: "Connection manager did not return valid connection."
Hi,
I created an external content typ in the sharepoint designer which takes my custom WCF Service as a data source. I sucessfully added all my required operations and created a new list based on the new content typ. At first I had a security issue which I got
resolved by editing my BDC configuration in the Central Administration. Now I face a new issue. When I open my external list the BDC Service gives me the following error message:
"Connection manager did not return valid connection."
Has someone a solution for this kind of message?
Thanks,
