"not a win32 application"???

I plugged my Classic iPod into my brand new Dell Inspiron laptop thinking it would trigger iTunes to come up so I could download and install it. My iPod froze up and nothing happened. So I went to iTunes website to download and install iTunes 9, and it goes through the motions of downloading, then when it was done, a box caqme up saying that "iTunes64Setup.exe is not a valid Win32 application". Help!! What does this mean? It just completely blocks iTunes from installing at all and I have no idea where to turn next. Any advise is appreciated.

Have you tried the following document with that, Erin?

While tring to download QuickTimeInstaller.exe, I get an error message that it is not a Win32 application. I do not know what that means. I am running Vista and Service Pack 2 is installed. I am trying to look at a math tutorial on CD that came with the textbook.

It suggests the installer is getting damaged during the download.
I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?

itunes wont open cause its not a win32 application? it opened yesterday and now it wont and my friend plugged her iphone in and now it wont work?

Doublechecking. When you did the complete uninstall, were you using the following document as a guide?
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
(If damaged program files are involved here, a standard install might not remove them, and a reinstall might not then replace them. So the Verify iTunes and related components are completely uninstalled section is an important step.)

  • Why all of a sudden is everything I try to download saying it is not a Win32 application?

After Firefox updated the other day my pages started stopping and saying a Script had stopped running. Then I tried to download something and couldn't. It acted like it did but it wasn't in the folder, and if I clicked on it in the Download window it did nothing. I went back to an older version of Firefox and now I can download but when I click on it and tell it to RUN the application, I get a warning window that says the application is not a Win32 application. I even tried to download Adobe Flash and it said the same thing.

I'm a bit unclear on what you're seeing with regard to these ads. Are you seeing ads that are normal for the page in question, or are you seeing ads where there shouldn't be any?
Regarding the browser crashes, that's not normal. It could be a result of visiting a malicious page. There is a long-standing bug where a maliciously-crafted (or just plain corrupt) image file can cause Safari on iOS to crash. It does nothing more than that, though, so I'd be surprised if you see that sort of thing with any regularity. If you're seeing it on more than one particular page, this is unlikely to be the cause.
Beyond that, you probably just have something wrong with the system on your iPad. First, try resetting your device. Press and hold both the home button and the sleep/wake button for about 10 seconds, until the screen turns off. Ignore the slider that will appear. Release the buttons, then press and hold the sleep/wake button until the Apple logo appears. This is the equivalent of a reboot, and should not affect your data or apps.
If that doesn't help, try restoring your device from backups, and if that doesn't help, restore it to factory settings (ie, do not restore a backup). See:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414
If none of that helps, the issue is caused by some kind of hardware problem, and the device will need to be repaired or (more likely) replaced.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

If you're running Windows try going to Start | Run and type in (w/o quotes) "%temp%".
That should open the temp directory where the software may be trying to install to. If the folder isn't empty delete it's contents and try again.

This problem may be resolved by using Detect and Repair on the Help enu. Unable to load.
You may be out of memory out of a system resources, or missing a .dll file.
and the error message i get when i try to run or download an application

[[Firefox is already running but is not responding]] has steps that you can try. It sounds like you may have something that is hanging your browser on exit (probably an extension or a locked profile) and the steps on that page should help clear it up.

  • "iTunesSetup.exe is not a Win32 application" error!

I have tried installing iTunes 7 onto my computer many times and I keep getting this error that says "iTunesSetup.exe is not a valid Win32 application". I have deleted all previous iTunes files from my computer (Windows XP) and I've restarted over and over again but it's still not working.

  • Itunes.exe not valid win32 application

i cannot install the new itunes update. because after i download the update my computer says that this is not a valid win32 application. how do i get rid of this and install the new update. i have tried all of the suggestions that are on the support site and still cannot get it to work.

This is a tricky error message...sigh...Let's try something first, besides the typical troubleshooting stuff.
Try setting up another User account thru XP with Full Admin Priveleges and see if iTunes and Quicktime will download and install on this account. Try saving the install to your hard drive and runnig it from there instead of running it over the 'Net.
Try completely removing Quicktime and iTunes on your current account. You may want to try Windows Installer Clean Up Utility to remove any remnants. Find out about that here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/
I would also download a free program called CCleaner. http://www.download.com/CCleaner/3000-2144_4-10315544.html
You can read about what it does from this page as well. It can help clear up some invalid Registry issues.

  • ITunesSetup[1].exe not valid Win32 application

i bought a fifth gen. on Feb 17, i try to download iTunes 7.0.2, after i click on either RUN or SAVE, the next box says "The publisher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to RUN/SAVE this software?" I keep going and then a warning box comes up that says "C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\658ZMLA5\iTunesSetup[1].exe is not a valid Win32 application."
Then my only option is to click OK, Apple thanks me for downloading iTunes7, and i'm back where I started.
i downloaded iTunes6 from a friends disk but everytime i open it, another warning box says that my ipod requires iTunes7 or newer, so...
    ...please help me.

You should follow the procedure for emptying your Windows Temp folder in this article(it's near the bottom of the page):
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976
After restarting your PC, Download iTunes again, do NOT press Run when downloading, you need to Save it and the run it from your PC after it has downloaded.
If that doesn't work there is other advice on the same link.

    Hi,
When i try to execute nQUDMLExec.exe(which is used to merge RPDs) in windows its throwing a error as that is not a valid win32 application.
However i could execute in another machine with the same installation.
    what could be the issue?
Do i need to set any specific env variables for this?
    Thanks,

When I click on setup icon for Firefox, I get 'this is not a valid Win32 application'. I don't have any other details I could give. It simply just doesn't load or open.

Oh, we are sorry for that. Download 7-Zip from(http://www.7-zip.org/). Install 7-Zip. Download Mozilla Firefox from (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/products/download.html?product=firefox-3.6.13&os=win&lang=en-US). Now instead of opening Firefox Setup, right-click it, click 7-Zip and then choose Extract to "Firefox Setup 3.6.13"\. A new folder with the name Firefox Setup 3.6.13 will be created. Double-click Setup.exe in the Firefox Setup 3.6.13 folder.
