Publications not able to connect to SMTP Server
Hello,
One of our clients has a very strange behaviour with his Publications.
We are able to create and schedule publications, but we are not able to send the reports trough a Publication by mail.
We always get the following error message:
2009-09-15 20:30:07,843 ERROR [PublishingService:HandlerPool-97] BusinessObjects_PublicationAdminErrorLog_Instance_166797 - [Publication ID # 166797] - Distribution to destination CrystalEnterprise.Smtp (To: myname(at)myprovider.com) failed. Recipient: Administrator, Document Scope: MyTestReport : 166807 (Pdf) : (AND ). Kennwortfehler. [[CrystalEnterprise.Smtp] ([1]/[1])]: [] (FBE60013) [1 recipients processed.]
Btw: "Kennwortfehler" means password error;)
However, our SMTP Server is configured correctly and doesn't require authentication (therefore no password and username needed).
Sending reports by email using the AdaptiveJobServer or any other JobServer on the same system with the same SMTP settings works fine.
Also sending emails using the Publication feature with the same SMTP settings on another Server works fine.
I tried to disable/enable the destination and also deleted and recreated the publications server, but still get the same error.
The strange thing is, I also get this password error message, when I disable "Email" as a destination for publication. In this case, I would expect something like "destination not enabled"...
Trace-Log doesn't show anything really helpful.
System: BOE XI3.1 FP 1.6 running on Windows 2003
Does anyone of you have an idea?
I'm really stuck on this one...
regards and thanksPascal,
In the CMC, select the 'Servers' page. For all job servers in the system, right-click the job server, select 'Destination' and add Email as a destination option from the drop down list. Click on the item 'Email' and configure your Exchange or other email server settings. Save and exit.
Repeat the process for all job servers and restart when done.

dear friends,

zaheerHi,
you can use the SQLCMD tool:
Microsoft (R) SQL Server Command Line Tool

usage: Sqlcmd [-U login id] [-P password]

[-N Encrypt Connection][-C Trust Server Certificate]
[-d use database name] [-l login timeout] [-t query timeout]
[-h headers] [-s colseparator] [-w screen width]
[-a packetsize] [-e echo input] [-I Enable Quoted Identifiers]
[-c cmdend] [-L[c] list servers[clean output]]
[-q "cmdline query"] [-Q "cmdline query" and exit]
[-m errorlevel] [-V severitylevel] [-W remove trailing spaces]
[-u unicode output] [-r[0|1] msgs to stderr]
[-i inputfile] [-o outputfile] [-z new password]
[-f <codepage> | i:<codepage>[,o:<codepage>]] [-Z new password and exit]
[-k[1|2] remove[replace] control characters]
[-y variable length type display width]
[-Y fixed length type display width]
[-p[1] print statistics[colon format]]
[-R use client regional setting]
[-b On error batch abort]
[-v var = "value"...] [-A dedicated admin connection]
[-X[1] disable commands, startup script, enviroment variables [and exit]]
[-x disable variable substitution]
[-? show syntax summary]
You have to have the SQL Server tools installed on the box, to get sqlcmd.
You then can connect with SQL authentication
sqlcmd -S <Servername\Instancename> -U user -P password
or with windows authentication
sqlcmd -S <Servername\Instancename> -E

Project was not able to connect to project server
We have a user running Project 2007 who gets the following error when trying to open Project:
"Project was not able to connect to project server because of the following error: the credentials you used to login may not be correct."
The users PC had been disjoined and rejoined to our domain to fix a separate issue and since doing that she is getting this error when trying to open project. We have confirmed her network credentials are good and she is able to access other network resources
with no problem.
Thanks
Hank VareSorry for the abbreviation used, by PWA i mean Project Web Access, which is the other interface for Project server essentially the IE where you open the Project Web App
I asked this based on the assumption given the error "Project was not able to connect to project server "
Hence assuming you are trying to connect to project server and you have a project server environment, if that's not the case and you are working standalone then navigate to Start >> All programs >> Microsoft office >> Microsoft Office tools
>> Microsoft Project Server Accounts >> Select the computer and Set it as default

As of yesterday, I am receiving e-mails fine; however, unable to send. Everytime I try to send an e-mail, I get "Sending of message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to SMTP server (my mail address) timed out. Try again or contact your network administrator.
I received help from lunarpages (they host my domain); however, they were unable to resolve the issue. They suggested something is blocking IP, or need to update Thunderbird, or there's a firewall there...
Help!!!
My clients are waiting for responses to e-mails!
Thank you.To diagnose problems with Thunderbird, try one of the following:
*Restart Thunderbird with add-ons disabled (Thunderbird Safe Mode). On the Help menu, click on "Restart with Add-ons Disabled". If Thunderbird works like normal, there is an Add-on or Theme interfering with normal operations. You will need to re-enable add-ons one at a time until you locate the offender.
*Restart the operating system in '''[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Safe_mode safe mode with Networking]'''. This loads only the very basics needed to start your computer while enabling an Internet connection. Click on your operating system for instructions on how to start in safe mode: [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/windows-startup-settings-including-safe-mode Windows 8], [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/start-computer-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=windows-7 Windows 7], [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/start-computer-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=windows-vista Windows Vista], [http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/boot_failsafe.mspx?mfr=true" Windows XP], [http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1564 OSX]
; If safe mode for the operating system fixes the issue, there's other software in your computer that's causing problems. Possibilities include but not limited to: AV scanning, virus/malware, background downloads such as program updates. -

JMS adapter: JNDI not able to connect to TIBCO server.
Hi All,
We are facing a strange problem here related to JMS adapter. We are trying to connect to TIBCO using JMS adapter.
We have 3 different Business Services, all the three using JMS channels. All the JMS channels are connecting to the same server on same port 7222. We have every thing same in all the JMS channels except the Que Name and the queue/log on user.
All the channels under 1 particular services are working fine while under the other two are giving below error:
===========================================
Channel error occurred; detailed error description: com.sap.aii.adapter.jms.api.connector.ConnectorException: Error looking up connection factoryQueueConnectionFactory, for profile: ConnectionProfile of channel: <Interface name> on node: <server node> having object id:<Object ID>: javax.naming.ServiceUnavailableException: Failed to query JNDI: Failed to connect to any server at: tcp://<host1>:7222, tcp://<host2>:7222<br> at com.sap.aii.adapter.jms.core.connector.JndiConnectorImpl.createConnectionFactory(JndiConnectorImpl.java:135)<br>
=============================================
Below are the basic JMS configuration:
1. QueueConnectionFactory
2. com.tibco.tibjms.naming.TibjmsInitialContextFactory

My machine name is M1 and listener address is vakumarn12.
I have installed WL in machine2 and trying to connect admin server of machine1.
I have used connect() but still the same.
One more thing I am(Machine1) in VPN network and the system from which i am trying accessing admin server is in client location(Machine2).
In machine1 i have two network connections one is Ethernet adapter and other is PPP adapter - (Is this creating a problem)
dumpStack() is as below:

Borland C++ Delphi application is not able to connect to SQL Server as Non Admin user
Hi,
I am working on a Borland C++ and Delphi application. This application connects to SQL Server and returns database queries results. Once we migrated to windows Server 2003 we have started facing an issue.
1. IF we login to client application as admin user then this connects properly with SQL Server and returns database queries.But if we connect using Non- Admin users then application is not able to connect SQL Server.
SQL Server 2008
Windows Server 2003.
Can anybody help on this.
Thanks in Advance.
RakeshThis application is written in Borland C++ and Delphi running on Windows 2003 Server. This is a Windows GUI based small tool. Basic functionality of the tool is : 1) Once we invoke the tool it connects to DB(SQL Server 2005) and populates a list of
all the tables present in DB. 2) If we select any table from the list populated in step (1) and provide query parameters, this will return results from Database.
Issue: IF we login to the Windows machine as Administrator this application runs perfectly .This application populates the DB tables correctly and returns results from database when queries executed as in step (2)
But if we login as some other user (like hubapp) then this populates some different set of table which are not from the same database instance .Also the queries does not return any results. In the logs we get following error message : (TiltData is the instance
name for our Database)
Msg:Application Exception : Cannot locate or connect to SQL server.Unable to connect: SQL Server is unavailable or does not exist. Specified SQL
server not found.Alias:
TiltData1 occurred in main thread.
As for the connection string
'DATABASE NAME=tiltdata'
'SERVER NAME=SDV3'
'USER NAME=sa'
'OPEN MODE=READ ONLY'
'SCHEMA CACHE SIZE=8'
'BLOB EDIT LOGGING='
'LANGDRIVER='
'SQLQRYMODE=SERVER'
'SQLPASSTHRU MODE=NOT SHARED'
'DATE MODE=0'
'SCHEMA CACHE TIME=-1'
'MAX QUERY TIME=300'
'MAX ROWS=-1'
'BATCH COUNT=612'
'ENABLE SCHEMA CACHE=FALSE'
'SCHEMA CACHE DIR='
'HOST NAME='
'APPLICATION NAME=QueryTool'
'NATIONAL LANG NAME='
'ENABLE BCD=FALSE'
'TDS PACKET SIZE=65535'
'BLOBS TO CACHE=64'
'BLOB SIZE=32'
'PASSWORD=jstart')
Any help is appreciated. I have spent a lot of time on this issue with no results.

Not able to connect with Oracle server through VBScript without DSN
Hi
I have both Oracle9i and Oracle10g clients installed with local system.
I am able to connect to Oracle Database 11g Enterprise edition server though sqlplus through command prompt and also through AQT without any error.
As the server has lots of database ,whenever I connect to a particular database through sqlplus from command prompt,I connect as below
C:>sqlplus username/password@service_name
and it gets connected without any error.
When I am trying to connect the same database through VB Script,I am getting ORA-12560 TNS:Protocol Adaptor Error.
Below is the connection string I am using:
Database_String = "SERVER=xxxx.vvvn.Com;Driver={Oracle in OraHome92};DATABASE=service_name;user id=userid; password=passowrd"
I have installed a Oracle10g server in my local system and tried to connect the same way and I was successfully ,but its not working when the server is running remotely.
Does it make any difference with the version of driver being used ?Should I need to modify my connection string anyway.
Please help me as to identify the issue.Thank you very much in advance.
