Not able to import protected AAC audio files
Can i do this? In the past I was able to import these purchased files, and then with an update, I no longer could. When I updated my system to 10.3.9, I was again able to use the music I purchased thru itunes. Now, again I cannot. What happen? Is this something Apple does on purpose, not letting us use music we purchased from them in their programs?
I am not sure what you mean by putting the G4 to sleep. I put it to sleep and had to wake it up, copied songs to cd, deleted songs from itunes and reimported them. Again, they came back as protected AAC audio files even though I selected AIFF files.
Reading a tourtorial on imovie it mentions you can get songs from the istore and import them to your movie. So, it is suppose to work.

When I try to import some songs I purchased from iTunes into GarageBand so I can create a customer ringtone a window pops open stating that I cannot import a rights-protected AAC audio file? I bought the song from iTunes and can play it on my iPhone iPod application. Does not make sense except from a mercenary perspective why I cannot create a custom ringtone from the song and play it on my iPhone when the phone rings. Is there a solution?
You cannot use DRM protected songs for this as they are drm protected to stop you from doing this.
Any itunes plus ( all itunes music sold over the past couple of years or so) can be used to make ringtones. -
My iPhone 4 (iOS 4.3.5) can't play my protected AAC Audio files
When i try playing an older song i have purchased in iTunes, of the "protected AAC audio file" type, my iPhone just skips it. And this is on both my new acount and my old acount. I made two playlist to test this issue, and the older "protected" files does not work, but all the new "purchased" files work fine.
I should think this is a software problem, and more people are experiencing this, but i couldn't find any ohter threads with this issue...
HELP! I want to listen to the Johnny Cash album i purchased in 2006...five computers... not devices!?

Upgrade protected aac audio file
I have many protected aac audio file on my Mac that I want to convert to MP3. Any suggestions? Most sites suggest right-click on song and select upgrade, but no such option appears when I follow those directions. Thanks.
iTunes Store: iTunes Plus Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1711 - extra tips at: https://discussions.apple.com/message/20001723
The policy where you used to be able to pay an upgrade charge on a per tune basis appears to no longer be available and you can only upgrade DRM music by subscribing to iTunes Match. If you only have one or two tracks you have to decide if it is worth the money.
iTunes Match - http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/ - see FAQ at end too
Remember, you can burn DRM music to CD (I think 7 times) which then behaves as a normal audio CD.

Can't download music in anything but protected AAC audio file.
When I download music it always comes as a protected AAC audio file. Previously I could download as AAC audio file and copy to a CD to play on Car Stereo. Can't seem to do that any more. All protected AAC audio files will only play on itunes and will not convert. Any ideas?
Sounds like you have your burn options set to "MP3 CD" Instead of "Audio CD" if its wanting to convert a file.
Goto edit>preferences>Advanced tab>Burn sub tab, set it to "Audio CD" and hit OK -
Protected AAC Audio Files Help
My own computer no longer has internet, where before it was connected to the main computer downstairs...
I recently formatted my C: drive and reinstall Windows XP Home Edition and had to reinstalled iTunes and added all my music to iTunes again.
Problem is I have to authorize all my Protected AAC Audio files but I don't have internet so I cant listen to them. I can only listen to them on my iPod.
Is there another way of authorizing my songs with the use of another computer w/ internet?
Many Thanks.
Home-Made Windows XP
Home-Made Windows XPSorry, no. An internet connection is required on any computer long enough to authorize that system.

Can,t sync purchased songs marked Protected AAC audio file to Blackberry Link. Songs marked just AAC audio file O.K. Repurchased one song now listed as AAC audio file and now works. Any simpler way to do this with existing protected song other than re-purchase all of them?
wow, very nice review Makes me want to get a vision for myself.

Add the ability to randomly select a new background from a pre selected group of photos every time the player is turned on or each day.
I would love that feature. I can't stand useing my computer with a single wall paper anymore (I have 500 anime pics that i rotate between every 2 mins ) If you could make the vision rotate background every x minutes or every time the player is turned on, it would be totally amazeningly sweet!!!! (i might have to go out and buy one then :P)
I just hope that creative has better firmware support with the vision than they have had with the touch.
Once again, great review -
Won't Sync Protected AAC Audio Files
We've got a 2nd gen shuffle that won't sync protected AAC audio files. The background story is that my hard drive fried and I had to rewrite it. I've reset the shuffle and now we're trying to put brand new music on it. It will sync the song that is labeled "purchased AAC audio file." Fact of the matter is, we purchased all of them!
Any ideas? Any help will be most appreciated.1. Try playing one of the songs that won't sync in iTunes then try to sync them again.
2. If that doesn't work, go to the Store menu at the top in iTunes, Deauthorize your computer then play one of the songs you purchased. When prompted enter your Apple ID and password, then Resync. -
Not able to import protected CD into iTunes on MacBook Pro
Hello,
Tried to import a protected CD and it failed. See Screen shots. Was able to import into Windows Media Player on a WinXP system but it added a licence folder to the location where the Music files are stored.
Have not tried to import using iTunes for windows.
Anyone can help? The more details you can provide the esier it will be for us to help you.
Is this the CD by Goyte? I see no reference of any kind online to it being protected and usually it be be one of the first things people would mention. Not many CDs have protection since this resulted in a very bad name when Sony tried it a while back. This is the original, store (or online) purchased plain audio CD? If it is of some other type such as something with original WMA files then those could quite well be from protected downloads which cannot be legally converted. Nor can they be played on a Mac (I don't think Flip4Mac plays protected WMA). -
Hi, I have shot few pictures on 31st December night in RAW mode using Nikon D800 and Sandisk extreme plus 32GB SDHC card. It looks like card got some memory errors so not able to transfer the files from Card to computer. However I am able to view the pics thru Lightroom ver 4.4 Library, but when I tried to import them, it gives me an error stating that file can't be read.
Is there a way to save the pics from Library window in lightroom overcoming the card read errors ?
Thanks in advanceHi SSPRENGEL,
Thank you for your response. Here is the error message I am receiving, I tried with various destination folders in the computer but it still gives the same error:. Just to let you know, I am able to import pictures into these folders from other memory cards.
I am able to finally at least extract the jpgs using the option suggested by elie-d -
ITunes will not play/allow import of any audio files
I have iTunes installed via Windows 7. Yesterday, iTunes stopped playing any audio files. I first noticed this problem after streaming music to my apple TV went bonkers. I tunes would play the first 3 seconds of a song and go onto the next one, even though all music played fine through iCloud on my apple TV. Afterwords all audio files just stopped playing with an error. Before this time everything worked fine.
I double click on them or right click on play and nothing happens, period. Of note, almost all the artwork that was associated with the audio files has also disappeared in itunes. I can still play video files with sound through itunes without any problem. I can play all music through quicktime, vlc, etc. without any issue. I can also link to my pc-itunes library and play the same music through iTunes installed on my mac without issue. I can play samples fine through itunes via the itunes store.
I tried I have tried unistalling iTunes, Quicktime, etc. (following Apple's recomendations for unistalling) with subsequent reinstalls now 3 times. I even paid good money for RegCure Pro to clean the registry - still the same problem.
I also cannot import audio files into itunes on my pc now either - dragging and dropping as well as, going through the menu - nothing works!
This has got to be the most frustrating issue that I have had to deal with on a computer!
Please help!I have now discovered the problem. The hard drive that I was using for iTunes was Dirty; meaning that something was corrupted. As a result I had to copy all file to a temp location and reformat the drive. This solved the problem. Of note, I had formatted the drive the first time using exFAT in hopes of being apple to use if needed with my mac mini.

Hi.... I am having IPod Nano 5th Generation. I can access music and video files (that are stored in Ipod memory) in Ipod. But when I connect the ipod to computer, I am not able to access/import these music and video files through computer. Also, I am not able to see any folders like DCIM, Contacts, etc... in the memory of IPod. Can any body help me out... ?
Search it up on google.com. There's a lot of apps that will help you do this. Check out this one:

You can also check out this video:

I tried the import software (trial version) and it was fine but I didn't want to pay for software. You can authorize up to 5 computers in the house to access your iTunes music and other iTunes purchases. Open iTunes, you can go under Store and select Authoize this computer.
Good luck! -
Purchased vs. protected AAC audio file
seems like all my "purchased" itunes songs are labeled under the Kind column as either purchased or protected. what's the diff?
iTunes sells songs, so they are all purchased, but not all of them are protected with DRM. So if you buy "Plus" songs from the iTunes store that are Plus songs and lack the DRM protection, then they are simply purchased but have not protection (which means you can can convert them directly to MP3s for example, which you can not do with protected tracks).

IMovie NOT able to import Sanyo HD1010 files ?
I want to know about what types of files format are supported by iMovie 09
Sanyo HD1010 Camcorder encoding format:
MPEG-4
1920x1080
H.264, AAC
That was shown in Info dialog in Mac OS X.
But iMovie seems not able to import.
I choose File > Import > Movie, and I select all movies I want to import.
Import Setting:
Large - 960x540
Copy files
And it goes to
Converting 1080i Movies
Processing Event: Christmas
||||||||||||||||||||||-------------
Time remaining: less than a minute
And it comes up nothing
It created a event at the bottom. But no movies was shown there.
iMovie not supporting that file format ?
What movie format it support ?
Is there any convertor that I can use ?In Streamclip, drag your clips into the window. Then select File/Export To QuickTIme.
For Compression, select Apple Intermediate Codec.
For frame size, use the same as the frame size of your camera.
You may want to deinterlace the video, but you can try it interlaced and deinterlaced and see which one you like the best. You can test this with a short clip.
To test, import the AIC into iMovie, and then drag the clip into a project. Share the project in the format or formats you want to use (for example, h.264 for web, iPhone, or iTunes. Use Share to iDVD to make a DVD. Then see which one looks the best.
(In Streamclip, you can easily make a short clip by using I to set the in point and O to set the out point. This is nondestructive to the original clip that you dragged in.) -
