spent last two days downloading photoshop elements 11 onto MacBook Pro OS 10.7.4 multiple times with no luck opening and installing
popup reads: no default application specified to open the document PhotoshopElements _11_LS15-2.7z
other download reads as text only and says must open with Windows 32 - the rest is garbled encrypted and illegible
i am ready to get my money back and forget about this unless someone has an answer soon!

Every time I try to install either the 30 day trial or buy the monthly plan it tells me that the computer can't establish a secure connection and suggests that the url has changed. Mac OS X has a built-in disk diagnostic and repair program called fsck or file system consistency check. Here’s how to verify and repair your startup disk with fsck. As soon as you hear the startup tone, press and hold Command-S on the keyboard. Keep holding down those keys until you see a black screen with white lettering. This is called “booting into Single User Mode.” As the Mac boots in this mode, the screen reports each step of the process. The line should end in root#. Somehow, OS X doesn't detect Bluetooth in your computer. First, reset the PRAM and the SMC, and see if you can use Bluetooth then.
If not, hold Command and R keys while your computer is starting to start in OS X Recovery, and reinstall OS X. If, after reinstalling OS X, you can't use Bluetooth, there's a hardware issue with your Mac, so take your Mac to an Apple Store or reseller

Yes, I purchased the new photoshop elements 12 and did as I was told. Because it is an upgrade I entered the old serial nuimber (7-8 yrs old). This number is not accepted or recognized apparently8. I don't have a serial number on the new download, or at least, I am not able to find it, perhaps because it is not installed (because that requires the serial number!). Thanks.

Not able to install FCP 7 on MacBook bacause only 64 Mb VRAM?

I have a MacBook and am trying to install Final Cut pro 7. It tells me that I need 128 Mb of VRAM and I only have 64 Mb! What can I do about this to be able to install my FCP?

The MacBook, with its integrated Video Ram, is not supported for Final Cut. There is a hack (do a search) but you are on your own for whatever funky issues that come up.

I have downloaded it but when I try to install the message says 'Installation failed. The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Looks like you're looking at buying a full version of CS6 or subscribing to the cloud. :-/

Why not able to access Family Share on MacBook Pro?

I am supposed to be part of a Family Share account. I can access Family Share & other family member's purchases on my iPad but NOT on my MacBook Pro that is running Maverick OS. I log into iTunes, click on the drop down window at the top where my name is located but when the window drops down Family Share is not an option nor am I able to see the names of the other family members in the group. I have tried going to "System Preferences" to "iCloud" and then try to look for "Manage Family" but it is not there. Even if I then if after getting to "iCloud" & logging into "Account Details" there is not anything about "Manage Family" or "Family Share"
Can you not participate with Family Share using Maverick OS?
I would REALLY appreciate assistance with this issue.

System not booting after installing 2010-006 on MacBook Pro.

Today I've installed security update 2010-006 onto a current model, 13" MacBook Pro (the 2.4GHz one if that's relevant) and now it won't boot, just the spinning circle.
If I put it into verbose mode then I get "no suitable image found" and then "the system bootstrapper has crashed: trace/bpt trap".
If I try and boot from the Snow Leopard install DVD then it comes up with "you need to restart your computer" and I can't get any further (this is a working DVD as I've tried it in another machine, and I've also tried booting the installer from USB with the same error).
Is there anything I can do? The hard drive seems fine, and I can reinstall it if I must, but naturally want my data back, as though I have a backup, it's a few weeks old now.

Having a similar issue here on an Intel Core Duo iMac. Updated last night and system wouldn't boot. Some of the "offending" lines in verbose mode:

Booting from my Snow Leopard DVD caused a different kernel panic.
Booting in Safe mode (holding down shift) is possible (wouldn't be posting this otherwise lol), but I don't know how to update the offending kernel extension. Software Update updated correctly and there are no other pending updates.

Installing Photoshop C6C on MacBook Pro Retina

Hi, I have been trying to install Photoshop C6C on OSX Mountain lion for days now. 5 support calls lately but no help. Most consultants just take the call then go offline. Others come up with ridiculous suggestions. Given I have spent $1k on software for no benefit, is it possible to pay someone from Abobe to install it so that it works? I assume it is all a question of money?

I am not able to update iMovie to my macbook pro late 2011 which came bundled with it.

It shows that imovie update is available in the update tab, but it doesn't show in the purchased tab. iLife '11 came bundled with my Macbook Pro but when I try to update iMovie, it tells me to sign in with the apple id that I purchased it with. I have no other apple ID. Sometimes it tells me that I had to have purchased it from the app store first before I can update it. What's the solution to this problem, please. iPhoto updated with no problem. There was no update for Garage Band so I don't know if that will be a problem when an update is available. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply but that didn't work for me. The trouble was imovie wasn't showing up in my purchases even though it was saying I needed an update because it was installed on my computer. I finally contacted the itunes app store. I was told that the imovie app shows up as a purchase for my apple ID. I had to delete it from my applications folder, then repurchase it. That worked. Apple refunded the money to my card once I provided the order number to them. All is well, now.
