Not able to open a Word created doc in Pages

just installed iWork 09.
I tried a test and generated a document in Pages saving a copy as a Word document. Sent it to our PC laptop with Office. It opened just fine.
I did performed the opposite test of creating a new document in Word, sent it to our Mac, downloaded the file and drug the doc file over the Pages icon. It gives me a "document could not be opened prompt".
Is there a setting I need to make in Pages?

Sure it was a regular Word document, not a MsWorks document, a template or a passworded Word document?

Not Able to Open a workbook created by a User

Hi,
I am facing a lot of problems when trying to open a workbook created by userA. The Situation is as follows :
we have several workbooks which were created by a userA. This User Shared these workbooks to a responsibility. But recently this user left our company. Now we are trying to open his workbooks through the responsibility he shared but whenever i try to open it, it give me the following error :
Missing Item or Condition
The Main problem is, we dont even know what Business areas that workbook is using. Unfortunately there is no link between workbook and business areas from the back end (EUL Tables).
I dont have any clue , what should i do inorder to open those workbooks.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

You can change the CREATED_DATE to be a more recent date and then enter the name of the Workbook as the last variable.
You will also need to have run the EUL5.SQL script, again as the EUL Owner.

Staples was not able to print my document created in mac "Pages." How do I convert it to a publisher file?

The Staples store was unable to print my document flyer that I created in mac "Pages" that I saved on my flash drive. They said they couldn't convert it from mac and to go back and "save as" "publisher file." However, when I click file, save as does not come up as an option. How can I get my flyer printed?

On your Mac select print the document. Once in print pane select Save as PDF. The PDF they will recognize.

You need to take your machine to a local PC/Mac specialist and have them upgrade you to 10.6.8, create a backup plan etc.
iCloud is with 10.7+ only and for a 10.5 era machine I don't advise you to upgrade to 10.7, it's just going to have to pay a lot for all new versions of software on a older machine, some that are not even ready yet.

10.6 will run all your present software, 10.7 will not, perhaps a few.
10.6 freshly installed with upgraded versions of your software and your files returned will fix you up great until you can buy a new 10.8 machine likely released after this summer.
10.5 users like yourself haven't been getting security or stability updates from Apple since July 2011, so it's likely you have been infected with the latest malware or something we can't fix for you.

The way which i posted the question is not so clear.I want clarification in MS-Office word 2013.
I have opened the fresh word 2013 and working on the word to prepare some documents.
When i try to open the another saved word document it is overlapping one after another and the second word document showing blinking message and not able to open the second document.It is closing the second word document automatically.I can able to work
with only one opened document and not able to open multiple word documents at a same time.
The second question is How many word documents can be opened in a computer at a same time?Our work is based on word document only. some of the users are opening the different word documents in the same computer minimum six or seven word documents
and working on the same.
Suppose if we are opening and working with multiple word & excel file at a same time whether it will affect the system slow?

Addressing number that can be open at once...
This is a function of available RAM and hard drive space (although if you get into memory paging you really can slow down). It depends on the document size and also on processor speed. I have had 30 documents open at once. I often use Excel and Word at the
same time. The more you have open, the slower your system will be, although it may not be noticed until you push the limits.

Dowload the free 30 days trial iWork from :
http://www.apple.com/iwork/download-trial/
install it,
apply the updaters then test it during 30 days.
An other scheme which costs nothing is to download the free LibreOffice.

I was combining different types of files into a single PDF. Some of them were excel spreadsheets and I had set the print areas in each file. When I cleared the print area the problem stopped. So I am assuming that had something to do with it. Though I am not sure.
The strange thing was that I was able to open the excel source documents after creating the faulty PDF but some of the MS word source documents also had "access denied" status. I still cannot figure that part out.

Office 2004 Applications Won't Work in Lion
You must have Office 2004 which is a PPC-only suite and will not work in Lion. You need to upgrade to Office 2011 - Mactopia - or you can try the freeware suite, Libre Office, that is functionally similar to Office 2007 for Windows except it works on Lion.
You may want to consider as well:

The first thing you need to do is remove that software according to the developer's instructions. Never install it, or anything like it, again. Then see below.
If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
If you use FileVault 2, then before running the Installer you must launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the FileVault startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) It will be nested below another icon with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar and enter your login password when prompted. Then quit Disk Utility to be returned to the main Recovery screen.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode. All other data will be preserved.
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.9 ("Mavericks"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.

I'm working on CS5 and saving my AI files as PDF. This is all for print, I have created the outlines, and flattened transparency between an image I had placed in on the PDF. My CreativeCLoud AI is not able to open the PDF. It shows that it is missing links. How do I fix this?
