Not accepting the Admin Password

Hi everyone,
My computer just asked for my Admin password. I typed it in and it said it was incorrect. I tried typing in my Master password and it also said this was incorrect. How worried should I be?
I clicked on the "?" button and it told me how to reset the password, but why won't it work? I would imagine some type of malware got a hold of it, but I haven't installed anything, and haven't even typed in my Admin password since I transferred everything from my old MacBook to this MacBook Pro.
Can anybody help?
Thanks,
Torea

What you can do, is to reboot with the OSX Snow Leopard disk inside:
1) insert disk, wait for it to show.
2) restart
3) IMMEDIATELY when the screen goes off (after restart command), hold down the "option" key ("alt") and KEEP holding it down until the whiteish screen appears. After a while, you will be presented with (at least one) your normal startup disk...
3a) you may release the "option" key now...
3b) ...wait for the OSX disk to show up and select that.
4) "Use English as the install language..." press and confirm
(don't worry, you are not installing anything at that moment)
5) wait till the simplified finder bar appears and from the the
Utilities/reset password
tool, you can now reset your password.
5a) Whilst you are there, you could also create a "firmware password"
(that way, no-one can access the option you accessed after Serial 3 as above,
unless your selected firmware password is entered)
6) quit the reset password tool and reboot.
It should now work. If not, try to REPAIR DISK PERMISSIONS.
Finally, you may have lost access to "root" (see *apple article* )

  • EA6350 not accept the default password "admin" no matter I reset the router device.

    Hello,
I just brought a new router EA6350 and it does not accept the 'admin' to login the router. I did reset the router and can ping 192.168.1.1. Also able to go into the login screen. But the default password: admin was not success to login.
    Please help
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    To isolate the issue:
    Disconnect everything from the EA6350
Connect your computer to the EA6350 LAN Port
Make sure your computer wireless is disconnected or disabled
Connect to the router using this link http://192.168.1.1
If the router was reset to factory default you should be present a setup screen instead of a login screen

    Hello farahani hairon nizar,
If your Apple ID was changed from your old account, you may have to change it back to your old account to be able to sign out and then change it back after that is done. Take a look at the article below for more information.
If you're asked for the password to your previous Apple ID when signing out of iCloud

What version of the Mac OS X are you running. Go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac and post the version.

Call Apple with the Serial and they will send you the ones that came with the Mac. Or search the Net.

If the user account is associated with an Apple ID, and you know the Apple ID password, then maybe the Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password.
Otherwise*, start up in Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities window appears, select
              Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar at the top of the screen—not from any of the items in the OS X Utilities window.
In the window that opens, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window opens. Close the Terminal window to get it out of the way.
Select your startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Follow the prompts to reset the password. It's safest to choose a password that includes only the characters a-z, A-Z, and 0-9.
    Select
               ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.
You should now be able to log in with the new password, but your Keychain will be reset (empty.) If you've forgotten the Keychain password (which is ordinarily the same as your login password), there's no way to recover it.
*Note: If you've activated FileVault, this procedure doesn't apply. Follow instead these instructions.

  • My Macbook Pro is powering on in Safe Boot and will not accept the correct password

My Macbook Pro is only powering on in Safe Boot and will not accept the correct password. What do I do to get it out of Safe Mode?

MBP = Macbook Pro  (My shorthand)
I think I now understand what you are describing.  This is the Apple support article on a Safe Boot:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1564
    Note this excerpt:
How are you starting your MBP.  Do you see a progress bar on startup?
    Ciao.

I just started my Macbook air the first time, connected it with my wlan and know it asks me for a password and it does not accept the only password I know, what can I do?

It needs the user password for the wireless router, that would have been set by whomever installed the router, if that was you then try to find the password. If you can not find the password reset the router to factory default and set it up again.

  • WET54G v3.1 Will not accept the default password for web setup

    The setup:
1 2WIRE wireless router for AT&T DSL connection
1 wireless laptop, online and good to go
1 desktop, too far from router to connect with an ethernet cable, this computer does not have wi-fi
1 new WET54G v3.1, trying to setup as a wireless-ethernet bridge to get the wired desktop on the network and online
I have set up the desktop with static IP: 192.168.1.1; Subnet 255.255.255.0; Gateway 192.168.1.226.  The WET54G is directly connected to the desktop.  I open Internet Explorer and go to 192.168.1.226.  After entering the password "admin" and leaving the username blank, the login prompt simply reappears as if the password is incorrect.  I have reset the WET54G to factory defaults numerous times (held the reset button for over 30 seconds).  It simply will not accept the password.
Any suggestions?  I tried live chat but the chat window was so slow and buggy that both times it seemed we were about to make progress the window would freeze up or refresh entirely and disconnect me.  Extremely frustrating to say the least.
    Thanks,
    Sean

    Hi brickmonkey,
Sorry for taking so long to get back on this.  We left for a long vacation and I got ridiculously busy when we got back.  ANyway I just spent some time working on this and wanted to report back.  Still didn't get it to work.
Got into the 2Wire and wrote down it's settings:
    Router Address: 192.168.1.254
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: (???) I did not see this under the summary page, but it was on the internet connection details page., it's a 151.x.x.x number, which the WET54G was not happy to accept as the default gateway.  It gave me the error "DUT and Gateway cannot locate in different subnet."  Also, on that internet connection details page, an additional subnet mask of 255.255.255.255 was listed, but I'm guessing 255.255.255.0 is the correct one to use, right?
Because it wouldn't accept that 151.x.x.x address, I can't get any farther.  I did notice when setting up the SSID and security to match that of the 2WIRE, the channel was fixed at 6 and the dropdown was disabled.  I changed the 2WIRE from 1 to 6 in case that was an issue.  The WET54G is in Infrastructure mode, as the guide you linked to indicated.
Any thoughts with this new info?
Thanks again for your help with this,
    Sean

  • Network diagnostics is not accepting the WEP password on my wireless router. I know the password is case sensitive and was very careful in entering it but it still gives me the "Unable to join Wi-Fi Network" error message.

I need help setting up the wireless router for my iMac. I did not know the WEP password when I first turned it on to set things up. Now that I know the WEP password I cant get Network Diagnostics to accept it. I know it is case sensitive and was very careful when I entered the password. What should I do?

Hi, unfortunately WEP is about as secure as a bar of gold lent to a Gang Den! It can be broken in under 30 seconds these days!
If the PW is ASCII, try enclosing it in qoute marks, if Hex try preceding it with the & or % sign.
Also, is the Router set to only allow connect ion to MAC addies of the Interface?

  • Iphone will not accept my gmail password

My phone and my mail was working fine until about 3am yesterday.  Now it suddenly says my name and password are wrong.  imap.gmail.com- says it is incorrect.
    1) I try to enter the password again, it still says it is wrong.
    2) I went on my computer to use gmail- it lets me in using my password.
    3) I updated the software to 5IOS, thinking there was a glitch-the phone was restored in the proceess.  After the update, it still does not accept my password.
    4) I changed my password on my computer.  Iphone still does not accept the new password.
    5) I deleted the account, then put it back in with the password, says it will not accept it- so now I have no email account on my phone.
    6) I turned off the phone and turned it on again.
None of these things worked, clearly.  What am I doing wrong and why did my iphone suddenly decide it did not like my password?

One possibility is that if you have Gmail 2-step verification enabled, you need to use an application-specific password in Mail: https://support.google.com/mail/answer/1173270?hl=en
