Not activate the iPhone 4s because the server temporarily unavailable . . What can I do?
There are 3 possible causes for this message:
1] activation server is down. Very rare occurrence but does happen.
2] iPhone is jailbroken or hacked
3] computer on which the iTunes is trying to activate the iPhone has been
used to hack or jailbreak iOS devices.
In scenario 1], retry the activation. If the server were down, it would be up in short order.
In scenarios 2] & 3], you are on your own. Google may provide some direction. Terms of Use
for this forum prohibit discussion of hacked or jailbroken iPhones.

Hi i just tried to upgrade my 3GS to iOS 5 and after it restarted and I went through all the steps to activate my iphone. But it could not be activated because the servier is temporarily unavailable. I tried taking out the sim card and put it back again, i tried to restart my iphone and i tried everything and it still didn't work.
I think theres something about the iphone 3gs that does not work with the update because just today the same thing happened to me

Sometimes the activation server is just not available for a short time. Trying again usually corrects this problem. But as Peter Gillespie suggests, if the iPhone you are trying to activate has ever been jailbroken, or the computer you are using to activate the phone has been used to jailbreak an iOS device then you will get the Activation Server not Available message.

i bought an iphone 3g but not in a shop and when i turn it on it tells me your iphone could not be activated because the activation server is unavailable what can i do to just have it working legit ?? , please anyone that could help me out
Generally, that means the phone has been jailbroken (hacked). You can try restoring it as new using iTunes. Beyond that, there's really nothing we can advise as jailbroken phones can't be supported on these forums.

We are on holiday in Mexico. Our iPad2 has no problem connecting to the Internet through our hotel's subscription WiFi network. But, both of our macbookpros can not with the same password. What can we try?
We can join the network, but can not access the Internet. The password is correct. We have tried network assistant and diagnostics, restarting the laptops, re-joining the network. Our iPhone 4s also works all the time.
Same location. Signal strength is good.Since I couldn't figure out a way to edit our original post, here's another potential clue.
Our laptops, when in System Preferences>Network, say "WiFi has the self-assigned IP address of XXXXXXXXX and will not be able to connect to the Internet".
Strangely, my six year old MBP running OS 10.6.8 accessed the Internet straight away, just by opening Safari to my home page. My wife's six month old MBP running OS 10.7.2 could not. -

I uninstalled Firefox and not it will not install for me. I get a error that says, The item referred to by this shortcut cannot be accessed. You may not have the appropriate permissions. What can I do?

When emptying my trash, I get "The operation can't be completed because you don't have permission to access some of the items." (I always have a hard drive connected and have just found out that if I disconnect the hard drive, none of that trash shows in the trash can....so there has to be some correlation with the hard drive. I have had my mac for a year, and never had this problem before though with the hard drive hooked up and all the trash being able to empty completely.) How can I get rid of the trash. FYI - I do not have the time machine hooked up, so I know that is not an issue. Thanks for any ideas to try!

To change the application, click the one which is assigned to it already and then from the dropdown menu which appears, click the bottom option called "Use Other".
This will open a menu where you'll see another set of apps you can use to open the file with. If Microsoft Word is not in the list, click the "Browse" button and then navigate to the folder containing Word.exe. I don't have it on my system, but I believe you'll find it in C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Word -

Which file extension do those files get when you save them?
If they do not have a valid file extension for an image like .jpg or .png then try to rename the files and give them a .jpg file extension to see if that helps.<br />
If Windows is hiding the file extension then use quotes ("image.jpg") around the name.<br />
You can verify the file type via the right-click context menu > Properties. -

Some of my edits of contacts in the iCloud contacts will not save. Instead, I get the message that "Your changes to this contact could not be saved because of a server error". Other, similar, edits are saving and synching to other Apple devices.
Thanks for helpJeffeighmy - I had this same problem last week. I think it is an iCould issue. It resolved itself. Just frustrating. I had reinstalled iCloud Control Panel and it would not let me save contacts or calendars. Then it just happened after a couple of days of trying. My contacts on my iphone are now duplicated, not in Outlook. Then when I delete one on the iphone it deletes it up through icloud and my pc so I loose that contact. Go figure.
