Not all artists showing up on the iPod

I just added the whole of my CD collection to iTunes, then synced it. Firstly, there were about 40 files less on the iPod than the computer, which I really don't know why 'cos they're all playable files.
But the main problem is that lots of the artists aren't showing up on the iPod and the only way to get to the song is by searching for it.
Why is this? How do I solve it?

For those songs whose artists are not showing up, right click and Get Info in Itunes and see if they're a part of a Compilation. If so, highlight all those songs, Get Info, lower left corner of the window, set Compilation to "No" (make sure there's a check mark on the left of the field).

Not all artists showing up in 60gb pod

not sure if this topic has been discussed, but i have a new 60gb pod, just loaded some music, updated my pod and not all the artists show up. If I go the album search, the albums are listed. The groups do show up on itunes, just not the pod. And all the artists with a greatest hits cd are jumbled into one list in the album search!?! I have tried deleting the albums from itunes, reupdating the pod, reloading the album to itunes, reupdating the pod - no change. Does anyone have a suggestion? Thanks

Sounds like you have "Compilations" switched on.
In Itunes look at "get info" for the missing artists and see if the part of a compilation box is checked.
On you iPod go to settings>compilations and toggle it to off
To get the artists to show up on the Ipod you only need to do step 2.
When you have the compiliations features switched on (in either iTunes or iPod) artists that only have albums that are compilations will not show up in the artist list.
As for your other problem you can sort the columns by clicking on the title bar at the top, to sort by artist or you can add something to the "Greatest Hits" album title to differentiate it - for example all my greatest hits albums are titled GH - Artist so I know which one is which

Provided the music plays in iTunes on the computer
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
- Reset all settings

All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

My "iPod Classic (60GB) Click Wheel" is not being recognised in iTunes although the iPod shows up in 'my computer'.

The problem started with an error message in iTunes saying "Could not complete sync as devise may have become corrupt" and suggested I restore the iPod to factory settings which I have done several times. I've carried out an error check in the iPod properties. I've completely removed iTunes and all related software components in the correct order and reinstalled version 10.5.3. I have been through the 5 R's numerous times but still the iPod is not being recognised in iTunes. I have Windows XP, I'm tearing my hair out now so any help or suggestions would be great

Try and force iPod into Recovery Mode:
1. Turn off iPad
2. Connect USB cable to computer; leave the other end alone
3. Press and hold the Home button down and connect the docking end of cable to iPad
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect To iTune" screen
5. Release the Home button
6. Open iTune
7. You should see "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode"
8. Use iTune to restore iPod
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad

Very simple. Turn off Find my iDevice, then Tap Settings, General, Erase, Erase all content and settings.

It sounds like there may be some confusion on your system about what application should be associated with PDF files. You can reset filename associations by following the steps in these articles (depending on your operating system):

First off, I would STRONGLY suggest that a external hard drive would make you life much easier by at least being able to back up your songs on the external drive for when you need them. Even if you don't want them in the iTunes library, you can have them all ready on the external to be re-added as needed. You can get 100's of gigs for under $100 shipped.
Anyway, since you used Yamipod, are all the songs back on the computer? If so, I would go ahead and restore the iPod, let iTunes then resync everything back to the iPod, then switch it back to manual and see if the restore and resync clears up the issue.

I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store because of the shock issue. I doubt it was caused by the update.

I was given the option to locate the file where the song is held. If so select "locate" and direct it to the folder / file where the song is and open it. itunes then will give you the option to use this process to update all of your library. OK that as this will do it automatically instead of doing them one by one. I hope this helps.

The iPod's screen indicates that the iPod is connected?
In Windows, the iPod will not appear as removable storage, unless it is set in iTunes to Enable disk use. By default, it is NOT set to Enable disk use.
In iTunes, if the sidebar (along left side of window) is hidden, from the iTunes menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar. When the iPod is connected, it should appear in the sidebar, under DEVICES. It does not appear there?

Not all characters showing up in "Import Settings" dialogue

On the "Import Settings" dialogue in preferences, not all characters are shown when you select an encoder and use a custom setting.
For example:
When you select AIFF encoder and click "Custom...", sample rate and channel is shown as "sample rat" and "channe".

Not all computers showing up in observe panel

I have selected 23 computers in my ARD panel and clicked Observe. However, only 20 computers are showing up in the window. When I try to scroll to the right, the remaining two computers are hidden to the side, but sometimes scrolling doesn't work for a reason I can't figure out.
In fact, no matter how many computers I have selected in the list, it always leaves 2 off.
I've already looked in the settings panel and set the # of computers per screen as high as it will go, and it still only shows a partial list.

Not all Albums show in Cover Flow

When I use Coverflow not all my albums appear on my iPod. They do appear in the Albums selection area in music on my iPod though and also appear in Coverflow in iTunes.
Any ideas?

Does the problem persist if you reset the iPod? Cover flow order is affected by the fields Sort Artist, Artist, Sort Album, Album with any leading "The" gerneally ignored. Maybe a combination of these values makes the albums you are looking for appear somewhere else in the Cover Flow.
