Not all iPhotos sync'ing issue

I recently discovered that my iPhoto library isn't completely syncing with my ATV. I have had the same setup for over a year.
My software is all up-to-date on all devices.
I have a NAS that my library is stored on, along with my iTunes library. No issues other than some quirks of having to sometimes resync photos on my ATV.
On the photo tab when the ATV is selected in iTunes it used to show me how many photos were in each album, etc. Now it just says 0 (zero), but it still sync's 3102 out of my 3673 photos. Basically it syncs up to our summer vacation in August. I cannot for the life of me resolve this...it is like either iTunes or iPhoto has a list somewhere and it is stuck and doesn't see the new photos. Same camera, same setup, but no go. This is what I have tried so far...
Rebooted ATV...no change.
Rebooted computer...no change.
Repaired computer permissions...no change.
Unchecked sync photos and applied changes, ATV deleted all photos, reapplied syncing photos...no change...still the 3102 photos.
Sync'd iTunes with other iPhoto library, it would sync and show me quantity of photos in photo tab, then selected original iPhoto library...no change still 3102 photos and back to not showing quantities of photos in photo tab.
Rebuilt iPhoto database plus repair permissions...no change.
Now I do not have any problem viewing all photos in iPhoto and I can edit them and all is well. There is just some link that is messed up between iTunes and iPhoto which is preventing it in seeing any new pictures.
I have searched for a solution and cannot find one that I haven't tried above.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Repairing permissions was a radio button in iPhoto when you open iPhoto with option-command.
I have solved the problem...though it is quite weird the way I did it.
I knew it had to be something corrupt within the iPhoto Library. I noted that I couldn't select any pictures from my Library in my desktop/screen saver settings...when I used to be able to.
Hmmm, couldn't understand what was up. Searched and searched for a solution but never came up with anything. Any suggestions didn't work. One thing that I did do before performing a rebuild function on my library was that I duplicated it. During one of my reads on a forum someone else had a different problem with the albumdata.xml file. They too duplicated before working on the library. Out of a whim, he opened up his copy of the library and everything worked fine.
I did this too and low and behold everything works. I have no idea why this would work since it is a duplicate of my original library. I will note that when I first duplicated the library it said it couldn't copy all files. I continued anyways and then checked all the files within each library package...everything looked the same with same sizes and such. When I performed the rebuild on my original library with the repair permissions enabled, I did get a statement saying that not all permissions were correct and if I wanted iPhoto to fix it. I answered yes. The second time I did the rebuild on the same library with that enabled it gave me that statement again, which I thought was weird. I also noted errors in the logs with regard to rebuilding of the thumbnails. All this and iPhoto seemed to be function fine. However, now my photo count is a bit lower but all my photos are there.
Again, I am no expert and don't understand why duplicating the library solves this issue, but it did for me. I renamed my duplicated library to the default iphoto library name and deleted my original library. Then moved the new library to the original location.
Wonder if is should rebuild the new duplicated library or just leave well enough alone?

  • Overclocking & Vertical sync'ing issue's

O.K. This post is strictly for braging rights.  I have reached 295mhz FSB with 1.7 voltage at a 5:4 ratio.  I must have had issue's before with vertical sync being disabled.  With memory running further than 220 mhz I would get serious fragmentation with Open GL mostly, but for some reason when vertical sync is enabled, the frag.'s only appear in UI's of Open GL games...  the rest of the game is fine (which I can live with).  Of course your limiting FPS with vertical sync enabled, but really is it all just an illusion past 30 fps anyway?  I can't run this board past 295mhz fsb, but still not bad an OC at all, at least by my standards.
I am finally satisfied with this boards overclocking abilities, but I do think this issue will also result from D.O.T. and should be addressed in a bios fix, or at least a mention in the motherboard manual.  The threshold for my ram is about 220 with minor artifacts and changing RAM and video cards still had same sync'ing issue's.  Relaxing timings and up'ing voltages had no effect also.  Performance mode becomes disabled at 5:4 so that wasn't a cause either.  Hope this helps.

Whooops... Ain't it getting steaming and stuffy with 295FSB folding for hours...   Give your CPU a beer for the hard work...

  • Not all iphoto pictures are available for sync with ipad2

    Hallo,
I am a new apple user. Have iTunes latest version on my MacMini. Want to sync all of my photos from iPhoto to my iPad2. Problem: not all Photos are available for sync.
Why doesn´t iTunes see all of my Photos?
    Thanks for answer.
    Iceman21

It is not a problem of iPad2 because I have the same problem with my iPhone.
e.g.: I can see the event in iTunes but with 0 photos. So iTunes find the events but not the content???

  • ITunes for Windows 7 64 bit, Windows Live Mail Contacts not (all?) syncing

I have researched this as much as I can but cannot find a solution.
I had my iPhone 4 synced to my Window Vista Home Premium PC using iTunes just fine until January when the PC motherboard crashed. No data was lost and all contacts have been restored to my new PC with is Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit). My contacts are in Windows Live Mail (Windows Contacts) and I'm syncing via iTunes with "Sync Contacts with: Windows Contacts" selected.
However, not all contacts are syncing with my iPhone. In fact, I'm not sure they are syncing at all, although the sync function goes through. It may be that the only ones that sync are those that existed before the new PC (i.e., the Windows Vista contacts which were in Windows Mail). I have created new contacts on both the PC using the new version Windows Live Mail and on the iPhone since the crash, and would like to get them synced up.
    Symptoms:
    1) Some specific contacts on PC are not on the iPhone after multiple sync attempts.
I have so far positively identified one contact that did not sync. It shows in Windows Live Mail under Contacts, however it does NOT show up in my Windows username/Contacts folder!
    2) One Contacts group on PC is not on the iPhone, although two others are (they probably were from before the crash).
I have so far positively identified one group that did not sync. It shows in Windows Live Mail under Contacts groups, however it does NOT show up in my Contacts folder as a .group file!
    3) The same group as #2 also does NOT show up in the iTunes group list under "Selected Groups" on iTunes, but the other two groups do. (I do not use "selected groups" because that disables "all contacts" syncing, but the groups are visible grayed out on the list.)
    4) As a test, I created a new contact on my iPhone, synced, and it shows up now in Windows Live Mail Contacts; it also shows up in my Windows username/Contacts folder.
    5) As a test, I created a new contact in Windows Live Mail and it does NOT show up in my username/Contacts folder. I synced the iPhone again and it does NOT show up on my iPhone contacts.
OK folks, where are these missing contacts going and how can I get them synced??  Thanks!
PS: I have the latest iTunes 10.5.3.3, no updates are available. However, Apple Support/iTunes seems to suggest Windows 7 64 bit either "does not use Windows Contacts" (which seemed quite wrong until I ran the tests above), and also that Windows 7 64 requires iTunes 10.4.1, which I cannot install because I have a later version installed. I would have assumed the correct version installed for my OS when I installed iTunes on the new PC. iTunes runs fine by itself and in coordination with my iPhone other than the above issue.
PPS: This site seems potentially relevant, however is highly technical: http://liveunplugged.wordpress.com/2011/02/04/windows-live-mail-contacts-databas e/
but doesn't help with this problem.

I didn't get any help on this from the forum, but from studying around and experimenting with different approaches, I have come up with the following conclusions:
Under Windows Vista, Windows Mail synced its contacts with Windows Contacts [which are in c:\users\username\contacts]. iPhone via iTunes synced with Windows Contacts. Changes to either Windows Mail Contacts or iPhone contacts would always update each other. Life was good.
Under Windows 7, Windows LIVE Mail (WLM) does NOT sync its contacts with Windows Contacts. It puts them into a hidden database. If you have prior Windows Contacts and brought them along for the ride, they are still there in the folder but they are not connected to the WLM contacts database
When you first set up Windows Live Mail, you can import your Windows Contacts and they appear to be synced. (In fact, they are, but only at that single point in time.)
If you change any Windows Live Mail contact or add a new one, it does NOT change in Windows Contacts. It only changes in the WLM contacts database. It therefore does NOT sync to your iPhone.
Similarly, if you change a contact on iPhone or add a new one, it will sync with Windows Contacts. However, this does NOT update your Windows Live Contacts.
So, from what I can tell, here is what this means: to maintain a steady state, you have two choices:
Whenever you update or add a contact, add it in either iPhone or Windows Contacts [the Windows Contacts folder has a "New Contact" button], and they will stay in sync with each other. Then manually update or add it in Windows Live Contacts to keep those up to date so you can use them for e-mail.  OR
Whenever you update or add a contact, add it in either iPhone or Windows Contacts, and they will stay in sync with each other. DO NOT manually update Windows Live Contacts, but realize they are not always up to date. If an address needed for an e-mail is not in there, manually retrieve it from your Windows Contacts or your iPhone and insert it into the e-mail. [Having done that, you can right click on the address in the e-mail and add it to your WLM contacts if you want.] Periodically, manually delete all of your Windows Live Mail Contacts and then re-import your Windows Contacts into Windows Live Mail and, voila, your contacts are in sync again! (Isn't that great, I mean really awful??)
NOTE: If you follow course #2, DO NOT import your Windows Contacts into Windows Live Mail contacts without deleting your existing Windows Live Mail contacts, or you will end up with a double set plus the new ones.
FURTHER NOTE: I obviously can't make any guarantee you won't lose data if you follow course #2. Be sure you have a complete backup before deleting your WLM contacts. However, I will say that after experiencing a double set of WLM contacts (by failing to understand the first NOTE above), it was impossible to pick out the new items [WLM will now show you the date of entry or modification of the contact, so you can't sort by date], so I deleted all of them and re-imported my Windows Contacts and had a complete set again.
AND ONE FINAL NOTE: I have not tested how any of this affects Windows Live Contacts used online outside of Windows Live Mail, because I do not use Windows Live online.
Please post further comments if you have any more information on this topic.

  • HT4235 not all songs syncing to ipod nano

Good day. I have noticed not all my songs are being synced to my ipod from laptop itunes. They are all checked and purchased. Any ideas ? Thanks

    Hey nanonano27,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are having issues syncing music to your iPod nano. The answer to your question will stem from how you have set up your iPod nano to sync: Automatically, Automatically with Selections, Manually, Autofill. I have included an article that outlines these options:

  • Not all iphoto photos showing up in My Pictures folder

I'm wondering why all of my photos that are in my iphoto don't show up in my My Pictures folder. When I back up with Time Machine, is it backing up my entire iphoto library, or just the ones in the My Pictures folder? When I look at my backups in Time Machine, not all of my pictures are there. Can anyone help?
    Thanks

Since iPhoto 7 (iLife 08) the old iPhoto Library Folder is a Package File. This is simply a folder that +looks+ like a file in the Finder. The change was made to the format of the iPhoto library because many users were inadvertently corrupting their library by browsing through it with other software or making changes in it themselves.
Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Standard Warning: Don't change anything in the iPhoto Library Folder via the Finder or any other application. iPhoto depends on the structure as well as the contents of this folder. Moving things, renaming things,, deleting them or otherwise making changes will prevent iPhoto from working and could even cause you to damage or lose your photos.

  • Not all photos synced to cloud

This is a question about a problem where not all my photos from my Photo library are syncing to the cloud.
I have 41.246 photos in my Photo app library. I enabled cloud sync and I have a 200Gb plan with 130Gb free storage.
Only 28.349 photo's are synced to the cloud.
I learned that only consolidated photos will be synced, but when I select all photos in my library and select Consolidate ... from the menu I get a message that all selected photos are already in the library.
    What am I missing?

    - If the photos were synced to the iPod they are gone
    - If they were taken by or saved to the iPod gp to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and look at the date/time of the iPod backup. If it is when you synced then restoring from backup should get the photos back.
    - If you had turned on Settings>iCloud>PhotoStream, then set up PhotoStream on the computer and get the last 30 days of photos from PhotoStream.  You should also be able to get them back by simply turning one Photostream on the restored iPod.

  • Not all playlists sync when i sync my nano.  3 or 4 are left out for some reason.  any suggestions?

Not all of my playlists sync to my nano (4th generation).  It always leaves out 3 or 4 playlists.  I checked them out and there is nothing different about them...very strange.  Any suggestions?

    Hey there,
How do you have your iPod configured to sync with your iTunes library?  Do you have your content automatically synced or do you manually do it?  What options do you have enabled from under your iPod's Summary and Music tabs?

  • 2 Recovered folders appears and not all photos syncing

Using iPhoto 9.4.1 on my MacBook Air running Mountain Lion V10.8.2. Syncing with iPhone 4S 32GB on iOS6. Syncing with latest iTunes version.
When I choose to sync ALL photos with my iPhone in iTunes it tells me there are 18894 photos to sync. There are actually 18,923 photos in my iPhoto library. And then when it syncs to my iPhone only about half of those go on there.
When I choose to select SOME albums to sync, two folders are listed titled "Recovered Folder" only one of them has one item in it. These folders do not exist in my iPhoto library and never have. No idea where they have come from.
Also when I choose to select SOME albums to sync, another folder called LastNMonths also appears.
In the end all I want is all my photos on my iPhone. Same amount thats in my iPhoto album.
I have deleted the iPod Photo Cache. I have removed all photos. I have restored the iPhone many times.

I am getting events for photostream months, but these don't include everything either.
Here's a basic scenario of what's happening. Let's say I have 5 photos (not videos) that I took on my iPhone. All of them get downloaded in the photostream category on iPhoto on my iMac. However, when I sync my iPhone, only 3 out of the 5 photos end up going into events. If I force import them to iPhoto, it asks if I want to replace the dupes, because they are in my photo stream.
I can't figure out what criteria is used to determine this- it really makes no sense to me.

  • ITunes and iPod show different song counts... not all songs sync

    Hi,
I've been having this problem for many many years.
I have more than 18,000 songs now, and the song count in iTunes is always 5 higher than on the iPod.  I have my iPod set to sync the entire library.  All songs in the library are checked for sync as well.  I get no error message during sync that something might be missing, incompatible, or corrupt  When I look at iPod music in iTunes it has the wrong count as well.
Every time a new version of iTunes comes out, I send feedback to Apple regarding this issue.  As expected, Apple ignores their feedback, and from what I can tell they ignore the community forums as well, and they have yet to address the issue in any way, or even contact me about it.
I'd like to find which songs are bad and remove/delete them from my library and collection or fix them.  Is there a sync log hidden somewhere that I can check to see which songs will or won't sync?  Why doesn't iTunes tell us whether or not it expects a song to sync or if it's iPod compatible?  Why does it say less songs will sync without giving a reason why?
I've heard that iPods don't sync duplicate files, but I've looked at my duplicates.. At some point, Apple screwed that up too, it shows songs that are from different compilations as duplicates now, instead of looking at the data proper to determine if it's a duplicate, it seems to just look at the Artist and Song Title and even that doesn't seem to be correct because I have more duplicate song titles listed and in some cases it lists songs from two different artists as being duplicates.  I have many more duplicates listed in itunes than the discrepancy in the song count would suggest... 3,835 more songs to be exact.
I've tried to select only checked songs and get the same results.  I've tried to restore the iPod and I get the same results.  I've tried clearing the library completely and reloading all songs and I still get the same results.  I've scanned through the library and all songs appear to have compatible settings.   All my songs are either mp3 or m4a(aac) formats.  I don't use playlists at all.
If anyone knows of a solution, please let me know.  I don't want to have to check every single file.
    Thanks!

So that you know, for the future, Apple makes it very clear (specifically so, when you submit Feedback) that they do not respond to the feedback directly. They do however, read the feedback and consider suggestions for improvements to iPods. They also look for - and act upon - bug reports etc. That's what the Feedback is for.
They also make it clear that they do not monitor or respond to these discussions. (That said, Apple employees are free to - and do look at - some of the posts and have been known to contact posters directly when looking for further information regarding bugs.)
As you have now found, this community (as Apple now prefers to call it) can often help sort out your problems, espcecially when skilled users such as tt2 (aka Steve) are let loose!

  • Moving many but not all iPhoto photos between users

My wife and I share an iMac with separate user accounts. We'd like to move lots of photos from iPhoto in one user account to another. But after we exported original images and video from one account to a shared drive, about a third of the exported images and video failed to import into the other iPhoto account. Is there a better way to do this? Thanks.

Thanks. The error message I get is "Unreadable files. The following files could not be imported. The files are in an unrecognized format." It's odd, because they are all jpg's, they are all photos taken by iPhone 5's, and they all exported from one user's iTunes library in original format. So I wouldn't expect problems.
We previously shared a library but for us it might be easier to manage the family photos if we each keep the set of photos that we take in our own user libraries.

  • Not all audiobooks sync, even ones from itunes store!

    Hello,
I have a pile of audio books, some from the itunes store, some as mp3's converted to m4b, and some from audible.
I have free space on my iphone, all music is set to be synced, and when i click sync it transfers files, however some audiobooks dont sync.
I have like 13 in itunes, and only 9 sync, 1 i bought from itunes store syncs, and another i bought from the itunes store does not sync, along with some audible and some converted ones.
I recieve no error, when i go to my audiobook section of my iphone they are simply not there.
I can plug my phone back in and click sync, sometimes it then shows me it is syncing one of the ones that it didnt sync before, but this time my iphone itunes sais "No Content", and i have to unsync and resink my whole freaking libary.
Now these files that dont sync, are real, they work, and they used to sync before.
Anyone have any ideas why itunes is not syncing everything.

Reggie, are these audiobooks you purchased from iTunes, or that you ripped from CDs?
If they're from CDs, you may find them in your music (use the book title as the album title) rather than in the audiobook section.
