Not all my PowerPoint slides import into Captivate 3

I am trying to import a 62-slide presentation in PowerPoint 2003 to Captivate 3, but only 10 slides will import. I am not sure what is causing the other 52 slides to not be recognized. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Jennifer

Jennifer,
Does it always stop on Slide 11?  The reason I am asking is that if this the case then look on that particular slide to see what is different from the rest.
Another suggestions, select all slides, then deselect slide 11 (assuming above applies) and try it, hopefully it will bring all 61 in then.  If not pick a bunch at a time and see where it fails - you are looking for a pattern of failures to pick the offending element.

I have Iphoto '09, version 8.1.2 (424). I am having an identical problem.  All my pictures are imported into Iphoto when I downloaded them from my camera.  Until recently, I thought that the pictures were actually saved in the library.  Since I need to crop my pictures for the web, and Iphoto doesn't do that, I purchased Photoshop Elements to do that.  To my surprise, when I try to get a picture from Iphoto to Photoshop, it can't be done. That was when I realized, after wasting a lot of time, that the photos are not in the Iphoto library.
I started naming the pictures on Iphoto so I had a recognizable file name to open on Photoshop. Couldn't find it.  I looked in the Backup folder and the Transfer software folder (I have a Nikon camera), and the names I entered in the Iphoto display, could not be found.
When I am trying to upload a photo to the web, I get the Finder folder showing  with an active folder called "Photos" under "Media", which only displays Iphoto and PhotoBooth.  This is a folder name that I cannot find in my HD anywhere when I look for it.  If I edit a picture with Photoshop, I am not going to save it back to Iphoto (not sure whether it will work properly).  How do I get my folder of edited photos to show when I want to upload a picture to the web?
Where (the name of the folder) do I find the pictures I see displayed on the Iphoto library, including any name changes, keywords added, and so on?

  • Import PowerPoint with animations into Captivate 4 ?

Can anyone let me know if it is possible to import a PowerPoint presentation into Captivate 4 AND keep all the PowerPoint animations exactly as created in the original PowerPoint ?
If this is not possible, what are the options ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Noel

    Hi Noel
I think the PowerPoint to Captivate conversion is a mixed bag. Mostly, I believe folks will be disappointed with the process.
Certain animations seem to survive the conversion and others seem to fail. But the bottom line here is that we are taking a file created by a Microsoft application, sucking it into an Adobe application and expecting the result to work without a hitch. And I'm not sure how often we will see this work flawlessly. I mean, it's not unlike removing an engine from a Fiat and expecting it to seamlessly bolt up and work in a Volvo. There will be stumbling blocks.
To be honest, I'm amazed it works as well as it does.
The only way I'm aware of to create a Captivate that behaves exactly as the PowerPoint behaves is to present the PowerPoint show in a window. Then use Captivate to surround the window and record it using FMR as the PowerPoint does its thing. Any other way is likely going to result in having to fudge things here and there and tweak them to make them work as desired. Possibly even re-creating things here and there in Captivate.

  • PP07 not importing into Captivate 4 as I need it to...HELP

In Captivate 3 when I import a PP slide it imports it into captivate as an object on the Captivae slide. However, in Captivate 4 it does not import it as an object on a slide, but the slide itself. I need it to import as it did in C3...suggestions?
    TIA,
    cgoebel

    Hi there
I'm thinking that even those steps won't solve your issue. You might first try to insert a Click Box object to pause the slide before it ends. Captivate 4 introduces a new wrinkle with this feature in that when a slide ends it seems to always do the fade out regardless of other settings. So the only way I've discovered to prevent that is to use something to pause the slide before the fade out occurs.

  • OTL Time Cards to PA Integration. - All Time cards are imported into One OU

    Hi,
At our site, we have implemented OTL to support PA. (No Payroll/HRMS).
We have created multiple selfservice Time Resp for each Operating Units. The MO Operating Unit for the responsibility is set to corresponding OU for each responsibility.
    The issue is that,
When the Time cards are approved and the PRC: Transaction Import is ran for each operating unit (again difft responsibility for each OU), it is not importing the time cards into the respective OU in PA. Rather When we run the PRC: Transaction Import in US operating unit, all the Timecards are imported in the US OU.
We found, For all the OTL time cards, the ATTRIBUTE1 for the "SECURITY" Attribute category is 84 (which is US OU) in hxc_time_attributes table.
which configruation controls this ? Why the MO: Operating Unit is not used to populate the value or is there any other profile which needs to be set to get the right OU?
Any help on this is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Chidambaram

Please check and confirm whether you have the profile 'HR:Business Group' set to corresponding BGs for the respective time entry responsibilities.

  • Rotated movs not staying rotated after being imported into iMovie

    Hi,
Used Quicktime to rotate some camera phone videos and saved them as .mov files.
They play fine but on importing to iMovie they have reverted to their unrotated state!
    How annoying!?

    Ouch!
QuickTime 7 has done away with the ability to freely rotate (or skew) video tracks and the link you've provided shows screen shots that do not appear in QT 7 Pro.
Version 7 allows rotation (90° increments) and "offset" (location of the track as a layer).
Since I don't own a camcorder I rarely run into this issue. Some people shoot in "Portrait" mode (turn the camera 90° and shoot) and then have issues importing to a DV app like iMovie. It wants to scale or squish of stretch your video capture to the DV dimensions (720x480).
So. What's a gal gonna do with portrait video?
QuickTime Pro 7 can fix it, too. Just not as easy as version 6 and with less visual "clues" as to what is happening while you edit.
QuickTime Pro can have up to 99 layers (tracks).
Make an image format file (.png if you need alpha channels) sized to the iMovie format size. NTSC is 720X480 pixels. The image will be all black (paint bucket tool) and saved as .png or even .pct. Don't use .jpg because it doesn't allow transparency and avoid .gif format because of the lack of colors.
Open this new 720X480 image using QT Pro. Select all (Command-A) and copy (Command-C). It's now stored on the Mac clipboard.
Open the video shot in portrait mode. Select all (Command-A) and choose "Add to Selection & Scale" from the Edit menu.
    Not done just yet.
Open the Movie Properties window and single click on your video track (the real video track). Click the Visual Settings tab where you can adjust its "offset" and "scaled size". Adjust these settings to what works best for your video track size.
Switch back to the Player window and test. Adjust as needed until you're happy with the file and the position of your video track against this black background image. If you don't even see your video track you'll need to set its "layer" number lower than your black background image. Negative values can be entered.
All happy now? Are you sure?
Two options for this new file. Save As (self-contained) to make a QuickTime movie you could use in a Web page. Had you used a color other than black for the image this is where you could "blend" it into the background of your page.
Export. To DV Stream. This helps "lock" your file and it will rapidly import into iMovie where you can edit it further.
What about the added B/W .png file? It only acts like a placeholder to force your portrait movie be served in landscape format. I'll bet it isn't 20KB's in file size.
Hope this helps other users. Lots of steps but great results (when done correctly).

  • Not all images from iPhoto came into Aperture

I ran an import from iPhoto and I think I am not seeing photos in some albums.
Is it possible this is due to my hiding the Album in iPhoto and if so can someone tell me if there is a good or a global way to unhide all Albums?
Also, can someone tell me if it is possible that I need to unhide all photos as well?
Are there other things I should make sure to do so that everything I can get to Aperture gets to Aperture?
Looking forward to working in this software but I have to get clear of iPhoto first.
    Thanks.

I've been importing referrenced images into Aperture since it was launched. I am also irritated when I set the sort order to Date and as soon as the import starts it changes to Manual.
Are you saying that I have to go back to my hundreds of albums and set each one to be sorted by Date in order for a new import into a new album to be imported already sorted by Date?
                                            Additional trivial complaints follow:
I never import from the camera or the SD card. I move my images onto an external HD where they are arranged by date. The files and the folders are set to sort by date on my HD. Why not follow that protocol when importing?
It was bad enough when v 2.0 came out and decided during the update and "conversion" that my method of sorting and displaying my images which were Year = Project, Month = Folder, Day = folder was incorrect.. Everything was sorted by date because the names of the Project - Folder - folder were all labeled by date : year - month - day. Everything was messed up when Aperture decided I was using the wrong order of storage. So Aperture, without asking, changed the way my images were stored and sorted. It took me weeks to convert them so they would sort & display the way I wanted.

  • UST12: not all entries moved during import

    Hi there,
Today I faced the issue below.
When comparing a single role from Dev with QAS system via SUIM it showed that role in QAS does not contain some auth objects whereas they existed in PFCG/AGR_1251 (after transport was imported into QA). As far as I know SUIM uses UST* tables for reporting. I checked UST12 table (the only UST* table the transport consisted of) and found that indeed some objects were missing for certain profiles.
transport logs for Import phase into QA showed entries like that:
    3 entries for UST12 imported (100V_VBAK_AATT-ED78820508A*).#
    0 d /   0 i /   0 u /   4 = 100% ucf UST12 #
    4 entries for UST12 imported (100V_VBAK_VKOT-ED78820508A*).#
    3 entries from UST12 (100V_VBRK_FKAT-ED78820500A%) deleted.#
    0 entries from UST12 (100V_VBRK_FKAT-ED78820500A%) deleted.#
    0 d /   0 i /   0 u /   3 = 100% ucf UST12 #
    3 entries for UST12 imported (100V_VBRK_FKAT-ED78820512A*).#
    3 entries from UST12 (100V_VBRK_VKOT-ED78820500A%) deleted.#
    0 entries from UST12 (100V_VBRK_VKOT-ED78820500A%) deleted.#
    0 d /   0 i /   0 u /   3 = 100% ucf UST12 #
    3 entries for UST12 imported (100V_VBUK_FRET-ED78820510A*).#
    8 entries from UST12 (100ZERU_BUKRST-ED78820500A%) deleted.#
    0 entries from UST12 (100ZERU_BUKRST-ED78820500A%) deleted.#
Newer transport that changed other objects of this role did not contain "deleted" entries in transport log for UST12 table, only "imported' ones. After moving this to QA, UST12 was "synced" with AGR* and SUIM comparison report works as expected.
What is a reason for TMS to not import all entries for UST12 but to delete some?
I tend to think this could happen again and confuse those people using SUIM for security changes controls in our organization.
I checked recent notes regarding SUIM reports but it looks like they have been implemented already.
    Thanks in advance,
    Igor

Only after you have finished your changes and generated the profile you should insert the role into a transport

    > As far as I understand during transport release it takes current "snapshot" of the tables for Roles/profiles, so any changes made to the role after transport was created but until released   would be put into that request, right? This seems proved to be true as PFCG/AGR_1251 contained correct values in QAS. So, the problem is that during release of transport not all needed tables related to user/role management are "pictured" and put into the request i.e. some tables (UST*) are "pictured" only when role is being put into request, correct?.
    This is a common rumor......

Ther exists already 1 discussion about this fact in this forum....

Well only, if you use the procedure mentioned above.
US*-table content is only created when generating the profile. So if you have more data in AGr-tables, the profiles are not actual.

  • Powerpoint presentation - import into Elements

I have a video of a 60th birthday.  I also put together  Power Point presentation for the function.  I wish to combine the video using a clip within clip concept using the Power Point slides.
Can some-one suggest what format the PowerPoint presentation be converted to, to enable it to be imported into Elements.  I have tried PDF but it doesn't work.
    Tony

A workaround would be to use an application that can record screen activity to record a PowerPoint slideshow as a movie to then import into your project. For example Magix Movies on DVD allows you to define and record an area of the screen to a file in resolutions up to 1920 x 1080. The examples shown below are for MPEG encoding. Magix also have their own proprietary high quality codec so if you record the screen activity to the timeline you can then export in a variety of formats (e.g. DV-AVI).

Have you tried using the project manager to re-copy all elements and timeline etc into a totally new directory. I'm just curious to see if that would make a difference. I'd be intrested to see if when making a new project in this manor if it would because as you have stated the normal save methods haven't.

  • Animations imported into Captivate 5.5 not playing correctly.

This issue started when I tried to open a Cp 5 project in Cp 5.5.  The animations don't play at all if the "Synchronize with Project" option is On and the anmiation starts at 0 sec on the timeline. Also, there is a visible "blink" between animations on the same slide and between slides.
I've been using Cp 5 for about a year and have worked out my issues with it so these are the things that AREN'T wrong:  The transitions for slides and swfs are set to "No Transitions," there is no space between swfs on the timeline that would be making the "blink," there are no blank frames at the end of the timeline in the swf files(inside of Flash), the swfs are AS3, they are only as long as their original timeline, my Preferences are set to no fades on Start and End slides, and my timelines do not extend beyond their content to show white space.
The files work fine in Cp 5.  The file animation links are also randomly missing/broken when brought into Cp 5.5 and even after I re-establish them, they periodically turn red (not up to date).
So I figured, "Maybe I can't work with previous version files.  I'll just start a new blank project in Cp 5.5." Right? . . . Not right.  Swfs still aren't visible when published if they are set to "Synchronize with Project" AND start at the 0 sec mark.  They still "blink" between swfs and slides.  So maybe I can't use Flash 5 files in Cp 5.5 either.  If that is the case, this upgrade was a waste of time and money and should not have been released until these MAJOR issues were resolved.
Someone from support is looking into it, but so far the only advice that I got was "Turn the Sync option off and fade into your next animations."  What?! The sync option is very important because that keeps your animations playing correctly when people scrub the playhead.  If Cp 5.5 is programmed to do that automatically, then why keep the option button?  If not, do you really expect me to NOT want my animations to play consistently when people drag around the playhead?  As for the fading, maybe fading out after every animation swf is not an option for me, maybe I need it to be seamless.  And to that I was told, "Put all your animations together in one Flash file." Duh, but that was how this needing Cp to assemble my separate swfs started in the first place. If any of you have tried importing 3D rendered pngs into Flash, you know that you can only have so many frames before the program can't handle the load and crashes.  I can only support aoubt 250-300 frames of optimized pngs before Flash crashes on me and thats WITH 16GB of ram on a new 64 bit operating system.
If anyone has had this issue and found a fix or some kind of pending patch, please let me know, because by now, I'm wanting a refund.

Captivate 5 was a total rewrite from the Captivate 4 software architecture and it introduced a subtle but fundamental change in the way that Flash animations were handled in Captivate published content.
Basically the change means that if your animation was built down a level or two inside a symbol rather than on the main timeline at the top level, then you will find that Captivate 5 or 5.5 loads and executes the animation on the first slide of the movie. This means that by the time you get to the actual slide where you WANTED the animation to perform it's magic, it's already run and finished.
In Captivate 4 this did not happen.  The animation was not really loaded until later in the movie timeline so as to be ready for the slide where it was required.  It didn't matter if the animation was buried inside a symbol or not.
    You have two choices:
Revamp your animation so that it all happens on the main timeline in the Flash FLA file that generates it.
Get your Flash programmer to add some ActionScript code to the animation so that it does NOT play completely when first loaded at the beginning of the project at runtime.
I agree that Captivate would have been regarded as less of a beast if this change had NOT been made, as users only find out about it AFTER upgrading projects with animations built as symbols.  However, I have to trust that if the change was introduced, there must have been a very good reason.

  • MP3 files not maintaining integrity when being imported into CP

I am imported MP3 voices files into my Captivate slides and
strange things are happening. I need your help! Some of the MP3s
will import properly into a CP file, but some sound like a machine
gun when played while others import no sound whatsoever. I have
tried a variety of ways to import and I have tried to alter the
properties of the imported MP3. But nothing seems to fix it. When I
listen to the MP3 prior to importing it, it sounds fine. The
problem is happening during the import.
Additionally, many of the MP3s slow down and play the voice
too slowly after being imported. Again, they sound fine before the
import but become distorted once I have imported them.
Please let me know if there is a work-around or solution for
    this problem! Thank you!!!

Drag the folder to the word Playlist in iTunes and it will create a new playlist nmaed after that folder with the songs in that folder.
