Not allowing burning of videos or TV segments to DVD or VCD.

I think it is wrong not to be able to burn a disc from a downloaded TV show. I paid $1.99 and should be able to burn my Dragnet episode to VCD or DVD and watch it at work or on my TV set. I'm glad I only downloaded one segment.
I will not pay Apple another cent for music or anything else until this is allowed.

  • Quicktime does not allow to change video position from streamed video

I just wanted to watch the newest Apple event stream. For many ears I have watched them typically from Mac as they works from there perfectly.
Now I installed quicktime for Windows (without iTunes) and I watched 34 minutes from the event. Then suddenly the sound went off from the quicktime. I tought the system sound went and I checked the volume and other player and they worked fine.
Then I tought it was about streaming problem and I allowed it to continue to 39 minutes. Then I tought I could scroll backward to position where the sound went off. But I couldn't at all. I can drag the position slider somewhere, but it always jump back to the place where it is streaming. When I stop mouse, it jumps back to current position. So if I keep mouse cursor moving and dragging same time the slider, it moves.
Neither I can not start a video (any video, was they a trailers or Apple event videos) and jump to the known position to continue watching.
So to me if I would now like to watch the latest presentation, I should watch first 40 minutes again. As I am not allowed to rewind to wanted position.
I tried this on my laptop as well and I got exactly the same problem (the scrolling).
Is it really so that Windows Quicktime does not allow rewind/forward functions at all on quicktime videos?
Is there tweaks to get that possibility as I do not want to watch 40 minutes and be sharp when it comes so I can continue where I left and not miss the position and never could rewind back?

QuickTime Pro does not allow to make video capture from desktop - only from camera. How can i solve this problem?
Use the QT X.1 Player to capture desktop video. QT 7 Pro does not  and never has had this feature which was first introduced in the QT X.0 Player.

Imovie is limited to its import formats and does not allow for storing video in any rawformat.  Which means all videos will contain lossy compression applied to the video….with no way to edit full format video.  Is this statement true? Does iMovie support HD 1080p @ 60 fps?

    yes and no!
using the intended Import from Camera routines, iM converts automatically in its very own AppleIntermediateCodec. so, answer is yes.
    but …
    a) Apple claims , aic is non-lossy intermediate codec. working with proRes in FCPX taught me, there are even less non-lossy-ness codecs
    b) iM offers an Archive feature, which is basically a simple Finder/copy operation which 'clones' your SDcards content into some folder on your harddrive; e.g. you can later use these untouched  'raws' in another editor such as FCPX. so, answer is no.
    c) when you 'override' the import routines by manually re-wrapping mts into a mov container, iM handles the 'native' h264s ... so, answer is no.
    d) adding any effect, transition etc. reduces any interlaced source to 540p. (if you're working with 720p source, res is kept) … so, answer is yes. or, in 720p case, no.
    < Johnny Depp's voice >… savvy?
Does iMovie support HD 1080p @ 60 fps?
    via Import from Camera? No.
via re-wrapped mts>>mov? I was told yes, some say no.
one thing to be kept in mind when talking about these 'issues':
iM, this 12€, is meant as a CONSUMER toy tool.
    it supports AVCHD vers1 (=no 1080/60p, no >24Mbps, no 3D).
fingers crossed, we'll see soon some iM/QT/FCPX update for support of AVCHD v2 ........
the main consumer devices are within the specs, iM supports.
using professional equipments makes usage of professional software (FCPX, AP) optional.
    sorry for lengthy answer.

  • Why does adobe reader 11 not allow you tube videos to be viewed on my MAC?

Adobe reader does not allow me to view you tube videos on my MAC.  Why?

Every time I install the newest version, for whatever reason, if I want to watch a video, I get a missing plug in message.  I don't get the usual "allow or deny" message with it, it just won't allow me to view the video.  I watch a lot of art lessons on line and participate in blogs and this becomes very frustrating.  The odd thing, is that when I un-install Adobe 11, I can view the videos but, of course, then I can't download PDF files.  The weird thing is, other people in my neighborhood are having the same issue and don't know what to do about it.  I may just download an earlier version of Adobe because I didn't have this issue until I updated it some months back.  Maybe my 6 year old MAC can't handle the technology even though I am running on the latest Safari version?

  • Messages and ichat is not allowing me to video chat or download/upload files.

I have installed and reinstall the latest version of ichat and had downloaded messages beta, but neither will not alllow me to video chat or download/share files. Anytime I initiate the video chat, and the person on the other end accepts, I will either get a message saying that my invite has been declined, or I will receive a communication error message. When the other person on the other end initiates the video chat, the quality is very poor. It cannot be because of internet speed because this also occurs over my schools network. When a person tries to send me a file and I click to download it, it always give the message "Disconnected". My current operating system is Lion with all the software updates, my firewall is off, my internet speed is good, I have mentioned that I have installed the latest version of both (i downloaded messages beta because I thought it would solve my ichat problem, to no avail) and I am able to do these on other programs,(e.g skype and gchat). Help anyone?

    Hi,
Exactly what is your Upload and Download Internet speeds ?
"Good" for where you live may not be adequate in the "Real World" scheme of things.
iChat requires at least 128kbps Upload to be able to Video Chat.
This is 128kbps of "free Speed" (Bandwidth) that is not being taken by sharing the connection with other computers or Wifi able devices such as iPads and iPhone (or other phones).
You can add to this that your computer also should not have another app eating into that bandwidth
As Downloads are generally faster than Uploads, I am only really worried about the Upload.
It would also help to know if you are using a Jabber ID (GoogleTalk, Facebook or other Jabber) or an AIM login (AIM, @mac.com or @me.com) and on what platform your Buddy is using.
I ask this as different people report different issues with File Transfers according to account type (and it is not consistent across the different types).
In whichever app you are using currently go to the app Menu > Preferences > Video Section and set the bandwidth Limit to 500kbps
This may help "Smooth out" any issues to do with your ISP varying the speed a lot.

  • Burn multiple video files to one single DVD

I am converting a ton of old home videos to digital format, and I want to store them on DVDs.  I'm using Elgato Video Capture to connect my VCR to my Mac which works fine for creating mp4s.  I can then "right-click" on the mp4 file name in Finder and one of the options is "Burn [filename] to Disc".  This is fine.  But my problem is that many of these videos are fairly short clips and I don't want to use one single DVD for each one.
Does anyone know any way that I can burn multiple mp4 files onto one single DVD?  Whenever I go to burn one of them to Disc, it seems to want a blank disc each time.
I suspect there is software out there that I could purchase, but I was hoping not to spend much money on this project.  Any way of doing this in the standard Mac software?  Or maybe a not too expensive DVD burner software I could buy which would allow this?
    Thanks!

A few quick things to check -
You are burning an SD Dvd and not an HD Dvd right?  (You can check to be sure in the Disc window/General/DVD Standard)  An HD Dvd will not play in a regular dvd player.
If you right click on the dvd on the desk top and select Get Info, How much space does it say is used?

  • Bug in which Premiere does not allow publishing of videos to YouTube over 15 minutes.

When I try to publish a video to YouTube over 15 minutes I get this error: "The video duration exceeds the maximum duration supported by the destination.  Please reduce the duration of video and try again."
Clearly YouTube's policies change over time - they allow videos much longer than this.  Shockingly, Premiere does not offer any option to override this limit which obviously should not be set in stone.  Please help.

    SteveNewYork
    No bug.
If you are using Premiere Elements 9, 10, 11, or 12, the upload to YouTube from within the project feature is stated and is
2.00 GB/15 minutes. So no bug. The YouTube dialog in the sharing section of 9, 10, 11, or 12 clearly state that. Now, if you have a version earlier than 9, you will run into limits of 2048.0 MB (aka 2 GB) and only 10 minutes. Those earlier versions were never updated to 15 minutes when Adobe extended the time for its YouTube feature from10 to 15 minutes going from version 8 to 9.
The YouTube limits for its upload at its site are governed by YouTube and not Adobe. In fact, I have been told that you can get extended upload times there with special accounts. I do not believe that YouTube has changed its basic time 15 minutes. Rather is offering "regular" 15 minutes  as well as an extended time for those who request it. See link at the end of the next paragraph.
If you have a Premiere Elements Timeline content that is greater than 2.0 GB/15 minutes, then your ONLY choice is to export that Timeline content to a file saved to your computer hard drive and then upload that file to YouTube at the YouTube web site after you make whatever arrangements so that you do not end up with just 15 minutes there. If you have not seen the following already, the following is YouTube information found online on getting more time for larger uploads
    https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/4523193?hl=en&rd=1
If you need help deciding on the settings for exporting a file saved to your hard drive for upload to YouTube at the YouTube web site, I would be glad to offer suggestions based on the properties of your Premiere Elements Timeline. More specific information will be offered once we know that information and what version of Premiere Elements you are using and on what computer operating system the program is running.
We are not Adobe. Just user to user. If you want to call this matter to Adobe's attention, you might be interested in filing an Adobe Feature/ Request Bug Report Form.

  • Stuck on finishing when burning a video made in lightroom to dvd

Help, I have an IMAC 27 inch, model 12,2  3.4 ghz intel core i7, 32 GB Ram, OS 10.8.5.  I am running CS6 and lightroom 5. I made a slide show in Light room, 10.28 minutes long. I exported it as a 1080 video to hard drive. this made a 1.16 GB MPEG-4 movie. This plays perfectly on the imac.  Placed a Sony DVD+RW 120 min/4.7 GB DVD in the drive. Then moved the file into it and clicked burn. It seems to work fine until it gets to the "State: Finishing..."  Where it stays stuck???  ANy ideas on how to deal with this?

Further to this, I have just sat and watched the whole final DVD on my TV and it would seem to be that the sound issues may be something to so with the transitions added in iMovie. Some of the sounds have even slipped in time! I get the sound from the next clip coming in early and then a blank patch of sound where it should be. All of this is always just before an iMovie transition.

  • My wife's e mac will not allow us to upgrade to tiger using Tiger dvd

Help please any suggestions on how I can get the Tiger family pack upgrade to up load to my E mac. I have tried several times. It starts going through the download process (20 min or so ) and then at the last minuet a prompt pops up saying there was a problem. Just to make sure disk worked I succesfully upgraded my powerbook no problem.

    Pato:
Thanks for posting back with updated information.
At 256 MB of RAM your computer barely meets the the minimum system requirements for Tiger. Although that should not necessarily cause the install issue you are experiencing, it could be a factor. Your eMac will accomodate 2 - PC2700 DDR333 184-pin SDRAM for a maximum of 1 GB total. I recommend that you put in at least one 512 MB module. If there are 2 128 modules, you will have to remove one. That will bring you up to 640 MB of RAM.
    In terms of installation,
What installation option are you using? e.g. erase and install, archive and install etc.
Do you have an up-to-date backup of your eMac?
Do you have a lot of data and/or third-party software to backup?
Please post back with information requested, as well as any other questions or comments.
    Good luck.

  • How do I burn raw video without themes?

I just need a video to start playing without the fancy themes (very dry technical video usage so nothing fancy)....how do I do that or with vanilla theme at worst?
    I have a macbook 10.4.8
    Thanks!

Just to add to OT's advice. There is only one way within iDvd'08 itself to make a DVD with no menu whatsoever...... that's a One Step DVD (See very last option below)
This type of DVD will always play in what is called a "Koisk Mode" .... little or no user interaction after inserting the DVD into a computer or set top DVD Player.
Adding a Menu (even a basic one as described above) adds stability to playback and is highly recommended.
Another option is Roxio Toast (third party app) which can also burn a dvd w/o a menu in Kiosk Mode and that will play all movies in succession.
Another approach I often use (w/o using iDvd) to burn raw video is a set top DVD Player Recorder with Digital /FW inputs which I then connection directly to a camcorder / camera (Sony Trv900) via FW/i.Link and the deck writes to DVD-R in real time with a very basic menu that looks like this:

  • Can I burn free video podcasts to DVD?

I'm trying to burn free video yoga podcasts to a DVD so I can play it in my DVD player. Can I do this?
I'm testing it out now, but it's taking hours to "Process Movies," encoding first the video and then the audio. I'm only working with about an hour's worth of video, but it's taking so long to convert the MPEG4 or whatever they are to whatever iDVD uses. I can't do yoga in my computer room, but want to use the DVD in my studio where I have lots of space.
    Thanks,
    Paul

podcasts aren't in a form that can be used by iDVD without conversion. You might have much better luck using something like Roxio's Toast Titanium.

  • How do I burn more than one file to a dvd in with compressor?

I'm needing to burn 2 video files to a single dvd, is it possible to do so in Compressor?

The easiest way  is to put them into a single sequence in FCP, separated by a gap and title, with a chapter marker set at that location for navigation. You could also use Quick Time Pro for this.
But Compressor cannot do multi-track DVD;s like a full fledged authoring program – such as  DVD Studio Pro. iDVD can also do this if you can locate a boxed copy of iLife…also Toast.
