Not appearing under devices

When I connect my iPod Classic, it does not appear under devices.  I do have it on my iMac desktop, so I think the USB is working properly.  The iPod also will connect to my PC with no problem; I synced yesterday evening.  I have the latest iTunes on both computers.
Any ideas?

See here: iPod does not appear in iTunes or iPod updater in Mac OS X
And here as well if necessary: iPod not recognized in iTunes and Mac desktop
Did it ever show up previously? If so, what has changed then? Have you recently installed any third party software/plug-ins/etc.?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Navigate to Settings > Computers > Your Library on the Apple TV, you may be told you will lose all synced content, but you can't doing anything abouty this, you won't lose any purchased content that has yet to be transferred. Then select Settings > Computers > Connect To iTunes, note the passcode that appears on screen, click on the device in iTunes and enter the passcode when prompted.

  • My iPad does not appear under "devices" in iTunes

When I connect my iPad 2 to my PC (Windows 7), it does not appear under "Devices". I have tried all the steps described in "Trouble-shooting". It does, however, recognize and show my iPod nano, when I connect that through the same USB. I have already deleted and reloaded iTunes 10.4 three times. Incidentally, I had no problem when I was using  previous version of iTunes before I updated it 5 days back.

    Thanks Rudegar.
Finally what worked? I removed all the Apple software files from my PC. Rebooted my PC. Downloaded iTunes afresh, saved and run it. Ah..ah.. my iPad was under the devices this time and it synchronised well. I am happy. Thanks

  • Apps does not appear under devices in itunes., apps does not appear under devices in itunes.

I am trying to get my apps to appear under devices in itunes.  They appear in the general library but not under devices.

When you turn on your iPad, you will not be able to see your apps under iTunes - though there is an iTunes Store, which is a different thing. Ito get your apps to appear in iTunes, open iTunes on your main computer and attach the sync cable. Both the general library and devices will appear.
When you disconnect the cable, you won't be able to see Devices.

  • Adding photo's - 'photos' tab not appearing under device

I am trying to add some photos to my ipod touch in itunes. When my ipod appears under devices, I expand it but there is no photos tabe, just music, films etc. Any ideas?!

Yo need to select the iPod in iTunes then select the Photos tab across the top, not the folders on the left side of iTunes.

  • IPod does not appear under devices in Itunes

These problems started a couple weeks ago: When I connect my iPod classic to my Windows 7 laptop, it doesn't appear under devices in iTunes, but the iPod says its connected. Also, a little blue sheild appeared over the iTunes icon on my desktop. When I click on iTunes, a message comes up telling me to turn off compatability mode before I open iTunes for best results because it was running on an earlier version of iTunes. I've tried switching the compatability around and all of the troubleshooting options possible for iTunes but nothing has changed and my iPod still does not show up in devices. What sould I do?

The blue shield is Windows 7 telling you, to log in as Administrator, it need this higher priviledge to add devices like your iPod to the Machine.
Perhaps, you can go to Microsoft forum, for the how_to override. (must be install and run iTunes as Administrator)
    Have a nice day!

  • SD card does not appear under "Devices" as it used to - cannot import.

Helping to remotely troubleshoot an issue with my dad's iMac.  Basically, he has always put his SD card into the slot, iPhoto opens and it prompts to import. Something has changed (presumably he did not cause the change ) and now what happens is that iPhoto opens, however the card is not showing up under "Devices" - thus there's no prompt to import.  I TeamView'd into his computer to see for myself what was going on, and sure enough, the card does appear on the desktop (and in the Home window under "Devices") but there's no sign of if under the Devices list in iPhoto.
    Any thoughts?  Thanks in advance.

And for the future a good workflow is to import your photos keeping them on the SD card, properly dismounting the card and after at least one backup cycle has successfulluy completed reformat the card using the camera - this protects against lost photos due to problems and keeps the card format fresh to minimize problems

  • TS4006 My new iPad will not appear under devices.

I can't see it on my iPhones or other ipad.

  • How can I make my iPod touch 2G appear under "devices with removable storage"?

My ipod always appears under "portable devices" under "my computer". I use Windows 7. I want to know why it does not appear under "devices with removable storage". I manually manage its contents. Please give any suggestions that may help. Thanks!

    - Because via My Coputer yu can only access the the photos (DCIM folder) taken by or saved to the iPod. The iPod touch (and iPad and iPhone) do not have a disk mode like other iPods)
    - You need a third-party program like SharePod to access music w/o iTunes

    Hello popsicles,
This first article should be helpful in getting iTunes to recognize your iPad once more:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
If the device is still disabled once it's appeared in iTunes again, please reference this second article:

  • Ipod touch doesn't appear under devices.  message - file not found.

My ipod touch doesn't appear under devices when I plug it into the computer.  My mac tried to sync with the ipod touch and then gave me the message "ipod touch could not be synced.  File not found."  This just suddenly started.  What file? and what happened to it? help, please.

PROBLEM SOLVED - I did not know that in itunes under "devices" there is a "hide" and "show" if you mouse over the area to the right of the word "devices".  My ipod touch was somehow hidden.  I still do not know why I got the "file not found" message.

  • Apple TV (1st Gen) Not showing under devices in iTunes

I have a New iMac and I have used time machine to restore data from my old iMac. Everything other than iTunes is fine.
In iTunes (10.4) all of my library is fine, however, my 1st gen Apple TV fails to appear under Devices.
I've checked various support articles and they all say that "look for Apple TV's" option should be selected in preferences.
I don't have this option in preferences. I can use the Apple TV as remote speakers.
    Does anyone have any suggestions??

I assumed that by using time machine to import everything onto the new iMac that the new machine was effectively the "old machine". Maybe not. It was set to sync to the old mac, so will try setting up  the Apple TV again on it's computers tab.
Still worried that I can't find the "find Apple TV's" option in iTunes prefs though.

  • My I-pod shows up on my computer but is not recognized under devices in I-Tunes, any suggestions?

My I-pod shows up on my computer but is not recognized under devices in I-Tunes, any suggestions?

    Hey corky60,
I'd go ahead and give the following troubleshooting steps a shot:
    1. Try the iPod troubleshooting assistant:
    2. Restart the iPod Service
    3. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service
    4. Empty your Temp directory and restart
    5. Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed
    6. Change your iPod's drive letter
    7. Remove and reinstall iTunes
    8. Disable conflicting System Services and Startup Items
    9. Update, Reconfigure, Disable, or Remove Security Software
    10. Deleting damaged or incorrect registry keys
You can read more about each step in detail in this article:
iPod: Appears in Windows but not in iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1363
I'd start at the top and work through the steps until iTunes recognizes your iPod nano.
    Take care,
    David
