Not booting couldnt find answer in forum

The macbook I have will boot fine past the grey screen with the spinning gears/circle.
My problem is after this when the blue background comes up with a silver box in the center with the apple logo and a bar that fills blue. Under the bar it says " Starting Max OS X..."
The blue bar fills like it should, but hangs once it is full and will go no further if I let it sit. (1hr so far)
I have tried booting to disc and repairing using disc utility with no change.
any help appreciated
thanks

I have exactly the same problem with a used iBook of 2001 vintage (a G3). I can boot it up with a OS9.2 disc and by hooking a FireWire cable to my G5 iMac. I think I need to re-install the 10.4.11 OS but since I bought this iBook used I didn't get the disc(s). I hate to search for this older software needlessly, but that may be my next step. I also would like some advice.
Thanks, stantonsorehead

  • Why aint this working!!!couldnt find answer in forums

    Hi,
    I come accross a problem with comparing 2 strings. Well i got a program that reads a file and displays its contents on the screen. Well, as the contents of the file changes i wont the program to add new text but not txt that had been already inputted.
    My solution was to read the file and then compare it to the text already inputted. Below is what i have written but it doesnt work, its either displays the text or not.
    FileInputStream file = new
    FileInputStream ("send.txt");
    BufferedReader reader = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(file));
    String text = new String ("" + reader.readLine());
    if (text == oldtext) {
    System.out.println(text);
    oldtext = text;
    file.close();
    My Regards,

    And reader.readLine returns a string as it is - you're creating THREE Here:
    reader.readLine returns 1 string.
    ""+<reader.readLine result> creates another.
    new String() creates a third.

  • K7N2G ILSR not booting, unlike any other in forums! (I think!)

    I have a:
    K7N2G ILSR
    XP 2400+ cpu
    2 x 512mb (Onyx) PC2700
    old 10gig HDD
    When I boot it flashes past the award bios screen so fast I can hardly see it, then reports an error (to do with active flash or something?) and that there is no bios installed. This warning has something to do with "promise" at the top of the screen. This screen is only up for a second or less, so sorry about the vague info!
    After this, it changes to a screen where it lists the IRQs for everything, then comes up with a disk I/O error...
    Am I being a dumbass?
    Thanks in advance
    P

    thanks v much for the quick reply!!
    HDD is a Fujitsu I think (am at work right now!) about 4 or 5 years old, on IDE 1 (using 80 conductor cable that came with m/b), set as master with no slaves. Jumpered on back to be master.
    DVDrom is on IDE2 as master.
    no jumpers have been changed, so its set as 133 fsb, and sound is not redirected to front panels.
    cheers

  • CDBOOT: Couldnt Find BOOTMGR

    Alrite, So i have a Macbook pro early 2011... I have a SSD and a HDD... Running the Operating System on my SSD, and i Partitioned 150 GB For Windows, I burned my windows iso onto my DVD Using a USB Optical Drive which i just purchased cause the USB Stick wasnt working to get boot camp running.... I Try to run windows and at first i was just getting the blinking cursor with the black screen restarted and tryed getting it to work and now i get CD BOOT: Couldnt Find BOOTMGR, but BOOTMGR is on the disk, i have checked.... anyone got any ideas to help me get this working have been trying for weeks Thanks!

    OK, forgetting Boot Camp what you want to do may be possible, however it is unsupported so there are no directions to follow.
    There are some posts in other forums from users who have done it, with varying degrees of success, Google can help you find them.
    Deal with Boot Camp after you get this working first, and you will still have to remove the 2nd drive before BC will function correctly.
    You should also consider a new post in the appropriate forum for this task, in the Boot Camp forum you will not get much interest, post in the forum for your version of OSX.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions Dathanb
    You have posted in the Feedback About New Discussions forum.
    As you are a first time poster, you seem to have missed the text at the top of this forum that says:
    Please Read This Before Posting Here
    If your question concerns a hardware or software technical issue, please do not post in this forum
    Go to the main Apple Discussions page, select an appropriate product category and follow the links until you reach the correct forum for your post, then click the POST NEW TOPIC link. Because your post doesn't indicate was OS you are using on your iMac, I can't give you a link to the most appropriate forum.
    Basically, though, the version of TechTool on the AppleCare disks is not compatible with newer versions of OS X and/or Macs (I can't remember which). If you don't get a satisfactory response by posting in the appropriate iMac or OS X forum, I suggest you take your iMac to the geniuses at the Apple Store. You can set up an appointment time for the same day online before you leave home.

    - Reboot the computer
    - Try another USB port
    - Try another cable try another cable
    - Inspect the dock connector for bend or missing contacts, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    -  Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Windows 8.1 not booting : "Boot manager failed to find OS loader"

    Hello all,
    I know this question came up before, but I have being trying to fix this for many days now, without luck and I feel I need some new ideas...
    The short story:
    My Windows 8.1 is not booting, and gets trapped in cycle of Boot Manager until I tell the UEFI to boot from disk or USB
    I can boot up from external CD or USB Windows RE, from which I can get to prompt line
    In the log file in C:\Windows\System 32\LogFiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt I read:
    Boot manager failed to find OS loader
    Repair Action File Repair à Failed (err code 0x4001)
    Repair Action Boot Config Data Store Repair à Failed (err code 0x2)
       4. My disk is GPT partitioned, with UEFI Bios
       5. I tried the typical Bootrec commands: FixMbr, FixBoot, ScanOs, RebuildBCD but I always get the error:
    Identified Windows install:0
        6. I tried Bcdedit but I get:
    the boot configuration data (BCD) store could not be opened
        7. I tried to create a new BCD store in the FAT32 partition (temporarily named "v:\") with
    bcdboot c:\Windows  /l en-gb  /s  v: /f ALL
    but I get:
    Failure when attempted to copy boot files
        8. Finally, I noticed that in
      C:\Windows\System32\
    I DO NOT have the file  winload.efi
    while in: ESP\EFI\Microsoft\Boot\
    I DO have the file   Bootmgfw.efi
       One question I have is: Is it possible to copy a "healthy" winload.efi from somewhere in my PC into C:\Windows\System32\ ?
    Where (which path) could I find it?
    Any other ideas? Please help !!!!
    Many thanks!! This is literarily driving me crazy because I really don't want to reinstall windows....

    Hello Kermit_70,
    What is your current situation?
    Please try the suggestion as aw00t mentioned.
    Additionally, please try to use Automatic Repair to fix problems that keep Windows from loading.
    For more information, please take a look at the following article.

    I have inadvertently infringe copyright on facebook and they have subsequently barred me from uploading any more videos.
    The question I need answered is ( and not able to find the answer on any of you help pages).....
    Do the following have free copyright to publish on facebook and U Tube?
    1.Garage band sounds?
    2.Slide show...Sample music and Theme music?
    3.iMovie...iMovie sounds and iLife sounds ie.Medal Ceremony and Memorial etc?
    I note one can publish to shared net places directly from iMovie so one assumes these are copyright free for non-profit making and non-comercial use.
    It is impossible to contact apple direct.No email address.We put our selves at risk without this knowledge and like applemac, facebook will not communicate direct.Will applemac please take responsibility for copyright/the above that they are all too willing to sell to us but not support us with that knowledge.
    I have Mac OS X Snow Leopard version 10.6.2 (2009 bought in 2010)

    Thank you Klaus1.The large font, I copied and pasted from my mail box.I'm visually impaired...not to a huge degree but it helps to use the large font.I believe you are right about the copyright on the imac stuff but if facebook decide otherwise, you have to reply electronically to their challenge.If you can't provide a reference directly from the copyright owner then they remove the video.I believe this is a programmed response and no human is involved which now makes it impossible for me to get my video uploading restored.They detect added soundtrack automatically and then challenge.There are many others in the same boat and facebook will not communicate.They have various discussion sites on which I have left messages including Mark Zuckerbergs own facebook but I don't think anyone from facebook ever reads them.I intend to start a second facebook which I can use purely to get my videos uploaded as a lot of my friends enjoy them BUT don't want fall foul of their programming again.If only iMac would put something on the net to this effect.I think it is so unfair that with modern technology it is impossible to contact these large conglomerates personally and receive an email response.I tried emailing [email protected] but I got a failure notice.If you have any ideas on how to get verification from apple direct, I would be very grateful.Thank You.

  • A very strange boot problem not yet found in the User Forums

    Hi
    I know you guys are fed up with all the booting problems, but this one is the strangest one I've yet come across.
    I'm putting a PC together to function as an extra render for my 3D animations. Here is the specs as follows.
    865PE Neo2-P Mobo
    Intel Pentium 4 2.8GHz Processor
    2 x 256 DDR 400MHz Memory modules (two of the exact same make and model)
    300w PSU
    60GB HDD Maxdor
    nVidia nForce 5600
    here is the problem.
    It goes past the post, but then the system stops there. It does not go to boot at all.
    In the top of the screen below the memory testing and above the HDD and DVD Ram listings it displays as follows:
    DEL -> Bios, F12 - Boot Menu etc.
    when i press any of keys listed there, that line changes accordingly to the function I selected.
    I can get into the BIOS.
    But the Motherboard does not boot any further, it just stays there.
    I tried diffrent memory, CPU, Powersupply etc, but to no avail.
    (I disabled the QUICK BOOT options to see what problems it may give, but it lists none what so ever.)
    On the motherboard, where the DIMM2 starts and the MSI CoreCell chip, to above the IDE1 connector to the full length of the IDE connectors, it looks like the transistors/chips connections has a kind of plaque, it does not shine like the rest. Could that be the problem? How can I clean it?
    Please help, this is sort of urgent!!!!!!

    Disconnect hard & optical drives........
    Power up system.
    Do you still have freeze on post? (Start up)
    I would also concur with Bas, 300w psu no go.
    Intel P4 478 2.4 and above Northwood processors are very power hungry. You would be advise to look for PSU with at least 24amps on the +12V rail....... (Enermax 465 and some 365's or the new Corsair VX 450)
