Not clearable : 1 distinct types of ORA- errors have been found in the alert log.

( Correct me if I'm wrong.)
What could be the reason for the fact that the event "1 distinct types of ORA- errors have been found in the alert log." is not clearable?
Even if the problem is solved, the ORA- error will still be in the alert.log.
Therefore the event would eventually only disappear after 7 days.
Doesn't sound very logical to me.

- The event page showing a warning event for "Generic Alert Log Error Status" metric,
- "Generic Alert Log Error Status" event is a statefull metric,
- On each evaluation of the metric defined as 'Statefull', the Cloud Control Agent recalculates the severity,
- This means, EM Agent scans the alert log for ORA errors, "Generic Alert Log Error Status" will return the number of ORA error found,
- Whenever the returned number is grater than the assigned thresholds of "Generic Alert Log Error Status", an alert is raised on EM console,
- On the next scan of alert log file, this alert will be cleared ONLY if the collected value is less than the assigned threshold,
- By checking your system, the warning threshold of "Generic Alert Log Error Status" is 0, so whenever a single ORA error is found in alert log, a warning event will be raised and you will not be able to clear it manually as this is a stateful metric.
There are three cases where this alert can be cleared:
1. The agent found 0 ORA errors in Alert log, then the alert will be cleared automatically
2. Manual clear: By disabling/enabling the metric
3. Manual clear and further not receiving similar alerts frequently: By assigning higher thresholds values
So, I suggest to disable the metric, then, enable it after some time as follows as follows:
- Go to the problematic database home page >> open the 'Oracle Database' drop-down menu >> 'Monitoring' >> 'Metric and Collection Settings',
- Choose 'All metrics' from the 'View' drop-down list >> search for the 'Generic Alert Log Error Status' metric,
- Click the pencil icon under 'Edit' column opposite to the above metric >> remove the Warning Threshold (make it empty) >> 'Continue' >> 'OK'.
- Wait for the next collection schedule in order for the warning events to be cleared, then, enable the metric again with the same steps (setting Warning Threshold=0).

    Whenever I start iPhoto, I get an error that says:
    5 Photos have been found in the iPhoto Library folder that were not imported. Would you like to import them now?
    http://www.fredmccann.com/error.png
    If I say no, the dialog goes away but you get it the next time you start iphoto. If I say yes, then iphoto tries to import something (I don't know what) and hangs. I've let it run for two hours and nothing ever gets imported. What's worse is that every time I try to let it import, it increments the number of pictures it thinks is missing. The first time it said 3 photos. I let it attempt an import and it froze. The next start it claimed there were 4. It's up to 5 now and I've figured out that letting it try to import whatever it thinks is missing is a bad idea.
    Has anyone seen this problem before? Any suggestions?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. This Apple KB document may have the solution to your problem: Unimported photos found in Library when iPhoto is launched.
    Do you Twango?
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

    Whenever I try to open iPhoto, a message comes up saying that 148 photos have been found in the iPhoto Library that have not been imported. It asks me if I want to import them and I say NO but then it places them in a recovered photo folder. I keep deleting the empty recovered photo files but it just keeps asking me every time I go to open iPhoto! I'd love to just get rid of the "found" photos (I can't open them anyway!)
    How do I get rid of them so that I can just open iPhoto straight up without this?
    Linda

    Open your iPhoto Library package with the Finder.
    Click to view full size
    look for a folder titled Import or Importing and move it to the Desktop. Launch iPhoto to see if the message goes away.  If there is no message  check the contents of the Import folder to see if you want to keep any of those image files (usually they have not been imported into iPhoto). If you want to keep them then drag the folder into the open iPhoto window to import.

  • Photos  have been found in the iPhoto Library that were not imported

    Every time I open iPhoto 9 (version 8.0.3) I get the following message: "photos have been found in the iPhoto Library that were not imported. Would you like to import them?"
    Whether I click "yes" or "no" (it doesn't matter) a "recovered photo" folder is created that contains six documents with long names, such as "8E7471DB-A316-4640-A4EE-98293772E434-269-000002802B328A1B". And even when they are "recovered", the very next time I open iPhoto I have to go through the same thing over again.
    I can't find where the originals are or why iPhoto keeps wanting to import these documents.

    I tried to right click the photo album icon in my library
    Is that referred to in an earlier post?
    Seems to me that the suggestion is to
    Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.

  • 1293 photos have been found in the iPhoto library that are not a part of this photo library.

    In preparation for merging two iPhoto libraries with Aperture, I ran "repair database" as suggested above by léonie in this thread:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4998390?tstart=0
    After chugging for a while, iPhoto puts up a modal dialog box saying:
    1293 photos have been found in the iPhoto library that are not a part of this photo library.
    Would you like to import them?
    What does this mean?
    - nello

    I re-ran the the repair on a backup of my library and chose "yes" on the import of of the found pictures.
    Unfortunately, the saved pictures included both original and edited images and the import did not re-assemble them into just a single entry.
    For example, I have a two pictures of a portico ceiling, the original (with an ID of P1010071_2) and another (P1010071) which is the same except that iPhoto's "Enhance" Quick Fix has been applied.
    Is there any way rejoin the original  (P1010071_2) and fixed images(P1010071) into a single entry?

  • ORA-01033 Error cannot be traced in the alert log or v$views

    Hello There,
    I'm hoping you can shed some light on what seems a rather odd occurrence on our Production Oracle Instance.
    Before i elaborate on the nature of the problem, I must confess that i am not an Oracle DBA and have been compelled to post this query since i have no joy from the in house DBA community on the origins of this error.
    We've had an ORA-01033 error being issued by our ETL installation (deployed on a Linux machine) a couple of days ago whence trying to extract some data from the Oracle instance (during overnight DataWarehouse loads) which has consequently aborted the loads necessitating a cleanup.
    This event has already occurred twice before, the first time being a month ago when the event was captured in the v$instance (using the Startup time column where the timestamp corroborates to the first time we experienced this issue and also ackowledged by the DBA team) and also in the V$Dataguard_status.
    Since then, This error has been generated twice although there seems to be no evidence of this in either the Oracle alert log(as confirmed by DBA team) or in any of the v$views (as pointed out by Tom in an earlier post) such as DBA_LOGSTDBY_HISTORY, v$logstdby_state, $logstdby_stats, dba_logstdby_log, dba_logstdby_events,v$dataguard_status, v$dataguard_stats, v$dataguard_config,v$database,v$database_incarnation, v$managed_standby, v$standby_log, v$instance. I searched these views since i suspected a latency issue during a failover which could be the reason for the
    ORA-01033 but found nothing.
    The DBA team have pretty much disowned this issue since they claim to not have any actual evidence of this from the logs and this is the crux of the matter here.
    The Problem i have as the downstream "recepient" of this error is to prove to the DBA team that this is indeed a genuine issue with the Oracle instance affecting it's availability and concomittantly affecting the DW loads.
    FYI, The Oracle instance is in Failover mode, so it's swiftly back online after bombing out for a few seconds.
    Also, I don't have access to the Alert log as it's a Production environment and employs restricted access policy to the server.
    Having said that, Is there anything else besides the obvious ORA errors that should be looked for in the Alert log?
    Where else can ORA-01033 errors be traced/traced in the Dictionary besides the Alert Log?
    Thoughts??
    Regards

    Thank You John for that query, but i'm on V10.2 and this view is relevant for 11g and beyond i believe.
    Perhaps there is an equivalent for V10g?
    I am also a bit bemused by the comment earlier about no trace being left behind if the DBA's performed a manual restart, surely it doesn't matter how the DB is restarted, the event is captured in the dictionary?
    In the meantime, I've got a copy of the Alert log and have found redo log issues (DBWR/LGWR) very close to the time (a min after ORA-01033) of the shutdown event.
    ALTER SYSTEM ARCHIVE LOG
    Thread 1 cannot allocate new log, sequence 117732
    Checkpoint not complete
    I've looked into this a fair bit and this error apparently causes Oracle to suspend all processing on the database until the log switch is made.
    Is this the causal link for my issue?
    Does " suspend all processing on the database " actually translate into an actual ORA-01033 error (or some form of) when the ETL application is trying to connect to and extract data from the Oracle database at that time?

  • 14 fotos have been found in the iPhoto library that were not imported

    this default message I get every time i open iPhoto.
    iPhoto asks  "would you like to import them?"
    when I clic yes or no it doesn't make any differnece
    the next default message always says: "the photos have been placed in the folder x
    what is this and how can I get rid of it?
    Can I perhaps reset iphoto to his status before I started importing pics?

    Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
    Look there for a Folder called 'Import' or 'Importing'.
    Drag it to the Desktop. *Make no other changes*.
    Start iPhoto. Does that help?
    If it does then look inside that folder on your desktop. Does it contain anything you want? If not you can trash the folder.

  • 1 distinct type of ORA- errors - "How to get error message"

    How do I configure Grid Control to send the full error message on the "Generic Alert Log Error Status" alert instead of just having it tell me there has been an error found?

    You need to add the rule:
    Click
    Preferences
    Rules
    Database Availability and Critical States, Click Edit
    Metrics, Add.
    Select: Generic Alert Log Error
    Continue ... etc .etc
    Hope this helps
    Daryl
    PS. I remove the Generic Alert Log Error Status -- dont need that extra email -- its useless.
    Note too that you have to clear these alerts manually via the "Clear Alert" button or do a whole wack of them via the Alerts->Warnings tab, the select all, clear.

  • "6 photos have been found in the iPhoto Library that were not imported".

    Why do I get this message twice every time I open iPhoto? Whether I click yes or no, I get 2 folders of recovered photos that are empty. It is driving me crazy and I end up with hundreds of these folders containing nothing. I am new to Mac. Please can someone help?

    I also wanted to thank you for taking time to answer. I know sometimes people wonder if it worth taking the time, as others answer on other boards. But while I found basically the same answer on another board in this same discussion, that answer did not include the detail of how to "open package contents" which was key to opening the correct Import folder. It made all the difference, and finally cleared up the problem for me. I had accumulated 98 Recovered Photo folders, so it had become very frustrating. Thank you again!

  • Continue to get photos have been found in the iphoto library that were not imported

    were not imported.
    Has anyone run across this one?  No matter what I say...  YES or NO I get the same result and this error message always pops up every time I open IPHOTO.

    Quit iPhoto and to to the iPhoto library (by default in your pictures folder) - right click (control click) on it and select show package contents - find the folder named import (on importing) and drag it to the desktop - DO NOT MAKE ANY OTHER CHANGES - launch iPhoto and you will be fine.
    Open the import(ing) folder and if there is nothing in it that you need move it to the trash and empty the trash

  • 92 photos have been found in the iPhoto library that were not imported.

    Hi,
    Everytime I connect my iPhone or iPad to my MacBook Pro, the above message appears twice, followed by "Would you like to import them?".
    Also, everytime the phone is connected, it tells me there's a "new photo" to be imported, but it can't import it (an unrecognized format - "/Volumes/Music and Photos/iPhoto Library/Import/Masters/Roll 1_102/IMG_1276.MOV") - does anyone know how I can find that on my phone and delete it?
    For info, I recently moved my photo library to an external drive (maybe I did it wrong?) and have the latest iPhoto '11 software - version 9.3.2 (670.63)
    Many thanks.

    Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
    Look there for a Folder called 'Import'
    Inside you'll see a folder called
    Masters
    and within that
    /Roll 1_102/
    There you'll find the file in question: IMG_1276.MOV
    Drag it to the desktop and start iPhoto. All well?

  • "2 Photos have been found in the iPhoto Library that were not imported."

    Sorry for re-posting a problem that has been answered and appears to be easily solved. However, I for some reason, can't find my iPhoto Library nor an 'import' or 'importing' folder or file that resembles iPhoto (only something to do with AIM). The only folders that show up in my 'Pictures' folder that relate to iPhoto are the folders that are created each time I plug in my iPhone titles 'iPhoto Library photos recovered...' I feel like I'm doing something wrong, but I don't know what. I've also tried just doing a spotlight search of the entire computer and can't find these files either. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Disregard, I am a complete idiot

  • How to not allow someone to load text messages that have been deleted from the phone however apps are still able to reteive them

    Someone is trying to access the text messages that have been deleted off of my phone thru an app (unknown app)
    I do have somethings that I want to remain private in my phone and I either need help to delete them for good. Or block them

    Let me rephrase that. They can't unless they had physical possession of your phone and installed spyware on it.

  • Need to find the way to get the actual error message in the alert log.

    Hi,
    I have configured OEM 11G and monitoring target versions are from 9i to 11g. Now my problem is i have defined the metrics for monitoring the alert log contents and OEM is sending alert if there is any error in the alert log but it is not showing the actual error message just it is showing as below.
    ============================
    Target Name=IDMPRD
    Target type=Database Instance
    Host=oidmprd01.ho.abc.com
    Occurred At=Dec 21, 2011 12:05:21 AM GMT+03:00
    Message=1 distinct types of ORA- errors have been found in the alert log.
    Metric=Generic Alert Log Error Status
    Metric value=1
    Severity=Warning
    Acknowledged=No
    Notification Rule Name=RULE_4_PROD_DATABASES
    Notification Rule Owner=SYSMAN
    ============================
    Is there any way to get the complete error details in the OEM alert itself.
    Regards
    DBA.

    You need to look at the Alert Log error messages, not the "status" messages. See doc http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11857_01/em.111/e16285/oracle_database.htm#autoId2

  • How to be notified for all ORA- Errors recorded in the alert.log file

    based on Note:405396.1, I Changed the Matches Warning from the default value ORA-0*(600?|7445|4[0-9][0-9][0-9])[^0-9] to ORA-* in order to receive an warning alert for all ORA- errors.
    but I just recieved the alert like the following:
    Metric=Generic Alert Log Error
    Time/Line Number=Mon Feb 25 23:52:21 2008/21234
    Timestamp=Feb 26, 2008 12:06:03 AM EST
    Severity=Warning
    Message=ORA-error stack (1654, 1654, 1654) logged in /opt/oracle/admin/PRD/bdump/alert_PRD.log.
    Notification Rule Name=Alert Log Error
    Notification Rule Owner=SYSMAN
    as you can see, the message only indicate the ORA-1654, nothing else.
    How to set in 10g grid control to get the details alert that in the alert log like:
    "ORA-1654: unable to extend index ADM.RC_BP_STATUS by 1024 in tablespace PSINDEX"
    I can't believe Oracle 10g Grid control only provide the ORA- number without details

    Go to your database target.
    On the home tab, on the left hand side under Diagnostic Summary, you'll see a clickable date link next to where it says 'Alert Log'. Click on that.
    next click on Generic Alert Log Error Monitoring Configuration (its at the bottom)
    In the alert thresholds put:
    ORA-0*(600?|7445|4[0-9][0-9][0-9])[^0-9]
    I believe that will pick anything up but experiment, its only perl.
    If you want to test this use the DBMS_System.ksdwrt package but I would advise you only do so on a test database. If you've never heard of it, google it. Its a way of writing to your alert log.
    Make sure you have your emails sent to long format as well.
