Not connected to camera?

So when I try to use iChat with video the window says "There is no camera connected to this computer" which is a lie because it's built into the computer. So i don't know what to do.

  • Bridge not finding my camera, have reset comp and still no luck.

i'm on a macbook pro. operating on software 10.9.5 (not looking to update just yet) I normally connect my camera to my computer and upload my images through Bridge. for some reason today Bridge can't find my camera at all. i've already restarted the computer and re downloaded bridge. what do i do? i've never had this happen since having my new camera and comp and i'm ticked about it.

Could be a faulty card, a faulty cable connecting the card reader to your computer…
You are not connecting your camera  directly to your computer, are you?
This excerpt is from a long-gone post by author Bruce Fraser:
Bruce Fraser - 4:17pm Jun 14, 04 PST (#5 of 21) Opening files directly from the camera is a bad idea for a variety of reasons*, and it most certainly isn't faster than using a FireWire or USB2 card reader.         •
            • Drains the camera battery
            • Runs the risk of the software you're using to open the images writing to the card and destroying the format
            • Runs a small but significant risk of USB power frying the camera
            • Slowest method known to mankind of getting images off a CF or SD card

I am trying to connect my JVC Hard Disk Drive Camcorder to my IPAD 2 via the Apple camera kit. I am able to download photos, but video files not showing. Camera shows Mass Stoarge. How can I download videos please?

The file name only has 6 characters and I'm not sure what the .mod format is. So that's why they are not seen by the iPad.
Another way to transfer. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

  • When i connect my camera - it is not showing up in iPhoto

When I connect my camera to my Airbook - the camera does not show up in iPhoto.

Something is not working - you need to fix it
with no mind readers here it is important to have some information
    What version of iPhoto?
    What camera?
    Has it ever worked?
Does it work with image capture?
Have you tried a card reader?
    Any otther info?
Or would you like some random guesses

  • I connect video camera to mac mini, but not detected firewire

i have mac mini. I connect a video camera to my computer via firewire. i try capture video in fcp and imovi, but firewire not detected. when i open imovy and import video, then show the massage "camera not connected". please help me.

No, nothing will show on the desktop - that only happens with card-based cameras (which are usually connected via USB).
But, make sure your camera is turned on, and in playback mode. Do you have another Firewire cable you can test, in case that cable is bad? Try also the tips in this document:

  • My camera doesn't work, it says its not connected.

Hi, i got a macbook air, and its been a while since my camera doesnt work,
    its says its not connected.

What kind of external camera is this? I am assuming it is a USB camera? Make sure that you aren't using any USB hubs. Also try connecting it to another USB port. Have you installed the drivers from the camera manufacturer yet?
    Thanks,
    Sean

  • My camera is "not connected"

I am trying to use Face Time in my new MacBook Pro, but it says that the camera is not connected. Can anyone help?

    Hey Mate!
Try resetting the SMC of your Machine, In my experience this has solved this issue.
Also, to see whether your Camera is recognised by the Mac, go to  > About this Mac > More Info > USB > Check whether USB iSight Camera is listed there.
If it is, you can usually determine that the issue isn't Hardware Related, which means that it's Software, which means that it can definitely be fixed.
    Hope this helps,
    Regards,
    Zet.

  • Camera is not connected.

How can I make my camera connect for FaceTime and Photo Booth to work? It keeps telling me that the camera is not connected.

What Linc says.  If you're using OS X Mavericks (10.9.3), see http://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6431

  • I have a macbookpro. when I connect any camera to the mac it does not show as a device. How do I load my pictures to either iPhoto or Aperture? It worked before but just stopped working. Any suggestions?

I have a macbookpro. I use Aperture and Iphoto. When I connect any camera to the Mac it does not open it as a device in Iphoto, Aperture or in Finder. It use to work but just stopped. Any sugestions?

Here is the full story. It may be long so please bear with me. I take a lot of pictures and movies. Since I have over 30,000 pictures I decided to place the Iphoto library on an external drive to save space on my internal drive since ot was getting very full. After I did that it worked fine for a while. Then one day I could not open the Iphoto library. Since I was overseas at the time I brought it to the IStudio ( not an Istore) overseas. They said to rebuild the library and they would do that for me. It took all day since I had so many pictures. When they called me and told me it was ready, I went to pick it up. They started to show me the new library. It crashed again. Not knowing how to fix this at the ISudio, they installed Aperture and imported the Iphoto library. This worked fine for a short time. When back in the states, it crashed again just like Iphoto. I took it to the IStore. They did not know why the overseas Istudio did what they did what they did  and rebuilt my aperture library. Again it worked fine. Now that I am overseas again. It crashed again. However, I concluded that the reason for these crashes is becuase I have the file on an external drive that derives its power from the Mac and not by itself. When I use it and stop for a while the MAC will go to sleep and this cuases the external drive to shut down. This then causes the library to have inconsistancies. Therefore, when it happened this time I tried to repair the library and after 36 hours it would close down Aperture. Therefore I decided to rebuild the library. That did not work either. So I tried opening the Aperture library with Iphoto. That seemed like it was going to work but after importing half of the 30,000 plus pictures. I photo shut down. I then made a new aperture libary and erged the old library with it. This worked. I now have an aperture library that works. However, when I plug my camera into the MAC nothing happens. The camera does not show up in devices in either Aperture, I photo nor in Finder. The USB port and cord I use works fine becuase I can read my external hard drives fine. I checked as SIG suggested in this thread and everything is set to open aperture when the camera is connected.
I have the newest OS version 10. 7. 2 and the computer frequently updates all my programs. I have not installed any ne software lately. The problem happens both if I am on battery or plugged in. Just before I came overseas the IStore replaced the Battery.   I can go back to the IStudio  here overseas but the last time I was there and told them about the problem ( I did not have my computer with me) they did not impress me with their wisdom. I will be back in that city in a month and can go there if need be.  Thanks for all the help so far. God bless.

  • Problem In Camera Of Lenovo K3 Note "cannot connect to camera"

I bought K3 Note a week ago...it showing "cannot connect to camera" error...I also installed latest system update of 17 mb.What should i do?Plz,I need fix of it.

Yes fully agree... Even the FFC( front facing camera) has its problem. The major problem if you may have noticed is that all images captured appear as mirror images i.e. things on your left appear on your right...mole on your right cheek will be on the left.... Very annoying indeed.. Hope they fix this up too...

  • Thumbnails not showing when camera connected and ready to import

Whenever I connect my camera, iPhone, iPod, etc to my iMac - iPhoto recognizes the device, but all I see is dotted lines for the thumbnails when it is ready to import. I can import the photos no problem; iPhoto even recognizes duplicates. It is more of a nuisance than anything. What is the best way to resolve this problem? This just started a week ago.

I did solve the problem.  I deleted my iPod Photo cache and re-formatted my SD cards.  All work perfectly now.  Hopefully you already downloaded your photos from the card.  I have not had any problems with any of my SD cards or devices once I re-formatted.  Hope this helps.  Good luck!

  • Camera not working in Photobooth-in use by other application or not connect

Upon entering photobooth, the internal camera is reported to be either in use by another application or not connected. It doesn't appear to be working in other applications either. Any suggestions?

Does the camera have a setting for plain old DV output. (and 4.3 three if you don't want it Letter-boxed)
iChat tends not to see anything else from Firewire cameras.
Have you tried Shutting down the Computer and restarting ?
Do a full shut down and use the power Button to Restart (not the Restart Option)
If that does not work, then try the second part of this FAQ by Gulliver

It suggest running the CRon Scripts with OnyX or Cocktail (MacJanitor unfortunately does not work in Leopard) The others come as Trials and do other things.
