Not Connecting - Little to no signal

Please help, I've run out of patience...
I have been utilizing the Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router with Speedbooster for the past year. It was fantastic and the Linksys Support system was terrific.
All of a sudden,.. for no apparent reason,.. I get a very low to no signal to any/all computers on the wireless network.
After extensive research, and attempting to try all suggestions that may alleviate this problem (unplugging wireless phones and any other electronic equipment that may interfere with the signal) the problem was not solved.
I even had a friend let me borrow his brand new Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router with Speedbooster before he even unpacked it to see if the problem was with the router itself.
Still the same results!
If it were only a problem with one computer receiving, I would suspect it was one computer adapter.. But low or no signal to all?.. Not likely.
I have scoured the form and internet looking for answers but nothing worked.
So, I have purchased the "Hawking Technology Hi-Gain 7dB Omni-Directional Antenna" figuring this would work.. No Success..
Has anyone come across a problem like this before?

After installing the "Hawking Technology Hi-Gain 7dB Omni-Directional Antenna" on to the WRT 54GS, I still receive cannot connect with my laptop which used the Intel Proset wireless card onboard or 2nd computer which has a Linksys adapter.. I have even brought the laptop right next to the "54GS" It shows "connecting" to the signal, but when I come back an hour later it still shows "connecting" but never connects! Please... Any suggestions? I'm throughly frustrated..

  • Will not connect despite adequate wifi signals...

I don't understand why my FaceTime will not connect. My boyfriend is in Europe right now and he is able to Facetime other people from his iPhone but we have had no luck connecting. The call goes through, but once answered, FaceTime takes a couple of minutes trying to connect and then fails.  Why? I am at home, with a strong wifi signal on my MacBook Pro. Thanks

  • Devices connecting to the weaker signal base station, not extended Airport Express

I have am successfully extending my network with a timecapsule as the base station in the front of the house (living room) and an airport express in the back of the house (bedroom).  The connection between the timecapsule and the AX is 'good' according to the airport utility on my iPad.
I'm connecting my iPad and laptop to the AX from the bedroom and the internet is fast.
I am also trying to connect a printer and a droid; both of these won't connec to the AX from the bedroom, and default to the timecapsule which they both can barely connect to.  The Internet is slow, and the printer won't work.
The printer is a canon mx860 and is b/g
The droid is a droid global 2 and is b/g/n
I had a similar problem with my home theatre pc in the bedroom, which wanted to connect to the timecapsule, but I installed a network sniffer and was able to manually connect to the AX, which clearly had a stronger signal.
Why are the phone and printer not connecting to the stronger signal??  I know I read somewhere that you can't configure this on the TC and AX.
    Thanks,
    Walker

Since you are using the Express to extend the network of your Time Capsule then the band that is being used by the Express is determined by which band you are using to connect to the Time Capsule.
On the Time Capsule, if you are using the simultaneous dual band feature you will have created at least two networks, one 2.4GHz and one that is 5GHz. Each Network should have a unique name so you can distinguish them. I append (5GHz) to the name of my 5GHz network to accomplish that.
When you set your Express to extend your Time Capsule network choose the 2.4GHz network as the network that is being extended. This will set the Express to use 2.4GHz.

  • Safari cant open the page because its not connected to the internet

iPhone 3g connected to my wifi at home just fine for first 3 weeks, now wont connect and getting error message "safari cant open the page because its not connected to the internet" Signal strength is excellent, other wireless devices are connecting fine.
Ive reset network settings, modem and router but still getting error messages.

Hey man, I have this same problem and it all started with 2.0.2. This is the worst update Apple could have given us. I love Apple products, and I loved my iPhone 3G until this update. I think 2.0.2 has caused more bugs than it claims to have fixed. Safari doesn't work anymore (3G or WI-FI) and I can barely pick up 3G unless I'm outside or near a window (whereas before 2.0.2 I could get 3G even in the underground tunnels of my university campus). My iPhone is no fun anymore and actually pointless, I might as well revert back to my original RAZR v.3, at least that thing worked as it was designed to.
I hope Apple issues a new update that just cancels out 2.0.2 and reverts back to 2.0.1....that one worked absolutely fine (at least I got no crashes of any kind with that version).

  • Airport will not connect to wifi (no IP address) router is working!

    Hi
I need help. I have had same router for 2 years now and recently my macbook pro has been unable to connect or stay connected to internet. It either states connection timeout or no IP address. I have just come bak form mac store where they reinstalled operating system.
Please help - I have also spoken with Netcomm (router company) who confirmed everuthing is ok on their end

    OP
A much easier advice that basically requires no thechnical skills, go to you nearest "Starbucks", neighbor, office or equivalent. Any place with a WiFi you can access. If you can connect there, the issue is most likely on the router-side of things.
    Shootist007
What does the region setting in Language & Text have to do with connecting to or not connecting to a WiFi signal/network?
Well, it should not affect anything. But there is one issue you probably have not seen. I could not get a stable WiFi connection for almost a year, and this solved my problem. According to others here in the forums, this has solved the issue for them as well. It is a software issue, if you change individuall settings in the language formate your region gets set to "Custom". So, if you check your logs while connecting to the router you get a "country code" called X1 to X5, a "spare" code available for non-registered regions. Some routers cannot handle this and the symptom will be that the connection times-out or you keep getting prompted for your password, over and over again. The region should not matter, as long as it is not set to custom "Custom" with an "incompatable" router. As you said, as long as you have a "real" region, there is no issue. While connected through ethernet cable this affects nothing, only WiFi.
    But thanks for your opinion...
And the Default IP for most routers on the market is not 192.168.0.x(xx). It is 192.168.1.x(xx). The only time I have seen it different was on Apple Airport products and that is 10.xxx.xxx.xxx.
Well, I don't know what your experience is, but in my book most personal users buy Linksys, Netgear or D-link, all of which has 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1, feel free to check manufacturer info on this. OP: Google manufactorer and/or model AND IP and you'll get the adress you need.
So please follow John Th's advice. Thanks
The last thing I would do is Assign a Static IP address to your WiFi connection. There is a Hardware problem that needs to be fixed. Whether it is on/in your Mac or your router I don't know.
Well, I guess manually accessing your router and re-writing system information is less dangerous than clicking "new" on you locations menu, and it sounds much less complicated... But I agree, if you region is not "Custom" and you can access any other public/available WiFi, listen to John Th. But why would a static IP be "the last thing you would do"? Especially if you add this as a "new location" which can be easily deleted and revert to automatic without issues...
    OP
Since I generally tend to take it personally when someone inferrs that I am incompetent, I'll leave this discussion here and stop following/commenting. I whish you the best of luck with solving your WiFi issues.

  • Original Ipad 1 will not connect to internet even though there is a strong signal displayed

Hi My iPad 1 was working fine but suddenly it will not connect to the internet, it shows a full wifi signal and I have tried reseting but it keeps failing to connect with the internet,,does this indicate a fault with the iPad, router or software. My Sony laptop works from the same BT router using wifi and has no problems.
Has anyone had similar connection issues, I am reluctant to send it to Apple in case its not a fault with the iPad so want to check all other options first..

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • Airport does not want to connect to a weaker signal

my airport has decided that it does not want to connect to a weaker signal. at home if i am next to the wireless source my computer connects just fine, but if i go downstairs to my room the signal strength starts dropping and then will disconnect all together and i am unable to connect again. the signal strength is strong enough to connect because my computer connected just fine before and i tried it with my brothers computer (he has a 15in macbook pro) and it connects just fine. any suggestions? thanks
    =)-SamIam-(=

yes everything connects to the same wireless internet. i did notice i had a harder time connecting around the time i upgraded to 10.5.6. (i cant remember for sure)
i don't think it matters but i am not connecting to a AP base station at home. We use our iMac for our wireless internet. but even if i am not at home i cant connect to any wireless signal while others around me are connecting to a free service in town. (i used to be able to connect to the same service in town to which i can not anymore)
i did notice that when i open my MBP and wake it form sleep i am able to connect for a couple of min, then the signal gets weaker and weaker until it disconnects and i am not able to connect again.
    thanks

  • I have a new comcast modem i have connected to Time Capsule with cable, TC in double NAT. As when I tried it in bridge mode I cannot use Sonos, the units will not connect to the wifi network? I thought Bridge mode would make the wifi signal better??

I have the TC connected to the comcast modem, with TC in Double NAT mode. I set up the sonos music players ok. But I read that to incresae the wifi signal the TC should be in Bridge mode. Then I cannot get any of the Sonos units to connect to the wifi network.
So two questions, does the Bridge mode give a better wifi signal then double NAT?
Why will sonos not connect to the network when in Bridge mode?

A PC can have more issues connecting than a Mac.
But it really should not matter.. so just try it in situ.. press and hold the reset.. once it starts up, it will return to default IP, 10.0.1.1 the PC should then be able to find it via the airport utility.
If not drag it over to the Mac and plug in there by ethernet.. or since it is a laptop, really should not be that difficult to drag the Laptop and plug it into the TC.
Important thing is to get access to the TC.
The Mac if it is running lion, then you MUST download and install 5.6 airport utility to do anything useful.

  • Retina MacBook Pro is not connecting with Airport Extreme 5 GHz signal

I believe I have done my due diligence to find the answer to my question here and other places but I must be missing it. I have a Retina MacBook Pro that as far as I know should select the 5 GHz signal from my Airport Extreme (Generation 1 with 7.6.4 firmware) which is literally 3 ft. from my computer. When I click on the Airport icon in the menu bar, it is indicating a 2.4 GHz connection. I have looked at discussions which say I can give separate names to to both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz signals. I can't seem to find that. I also read where you can reorder the order of signal preference. I can't seem to find that either. Interestingly, I have an Airport Express that is extending the network. When option clicking on its icon in airport utility, I can see both the 2.4 and 5 GHz information. I don't se that in the Airport Extreme. I am thinking about gettng the newest Airport Extreme but if I don't need to...
    Thanks for any help!

as far as I know should select the 5 GHz signal from my Airport Extreme (Generation 1 with 7.6.4 firmware) which is literally 3 ft. from my computer
A Generation 1 AirPort Extreme is not a simultaneous dual band wireless router. It can produce either a 2.4 GHz....or....a 5 GHz wireless network signal, but not both simultaneously.
If you want the Gen 1 Extreme to produce and deliver a 5 GHz wireless network, it can do so, but any 2.4 GHz devices that you have will not be able to connect to the 5 GHz signal.
A new simultaneous dual band AirPort Extreme will produce both a 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz signal simultaneously. Wireless devices will automatically connect to the best signal quality based on their capabilities and location in relation to the AirPort Extreme.

  • IPhone 5s: Intermittent wifi; wifi signal is full but phone not connected to internet

Hi all, I have a strange wifi connectivity problem.
    At home:
iPhone 5s connects normally to wifi, but after several minutes of usage (particularly browsing the internet), wifi signal remains full but safari states that phone is not connected to internet. Other apps like whatsapp also don't work. When I disable wifi then enable it again on my phone, I can connect to the internet temporarily again, but after a few seconds it disappears again. If I leave it for a while, it automatically connects again, but intermittently and unpredictably. All in all, unreliably.
At home, MacBook Air works fine with no connectivity issues.
At other wifi locations, the same iphone 5s has no problems at all with wifi connectivity.
    Also, I have already
    - reset phone
    - reset network settings on phone
    - reset router
    - unplugged and replugged modem and router to wall switch
    - previous iPhone 4 on iOS 7 had no issues with home wifi
Thus, I am uncertain if this is a phone or wifi issue. My best guess would be that it is a compatibility issue between the iPhone 5s and my home wifi?
Any suggestions as to where I could start solving this problem would be very appreciated! Thank you:)

If you are having WiFi problems it is necessary to isolate whether the problem is with your network or your iPhone. Note: Do NOT consider your network to be blameless if some other devices can connect to it.
First, test your iPhone on some other WiFi networks: a friends, Starbucks, Barnes & Noble, etc.
If it works well there then the problem is probably with your network. Try restarting your WiFi router by removing power for 30 seconds. If that does not help check for a firmware update for your router. If none exists which corrects the problem consider replacing the router.
If your iPhone does not function well on other networks it possibly has a hardware problem. You could try Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings to see if that corrects the problem. If not, contact Apple Support or visit an Apple store for evaluation. They can provide a replacement if your iPhone is bad.
If you need more help please give the make, model, and version of your WiFi router and how you have it configured.

  • Safari says I'm not connected to Internet-Airport says I am w/good signal

I've moved. I am using AT&T DSL as Internet Service Provider. My PC/Base station is running VIsta Home. The Base station router is LINKSYS Wireless-G Microsoft Broadband. It's all interfaced beautifully before with my iMac and MacBook Pro.
Since the move, However, I've had a problem. The "Internet Connect" on my MacBook Pro shows I am connected to Linksys. The signal strength has all bars lighted blue. The tool bar "fan" has also bars black. However, when I click on Safari the display reads 'Safari cannot open the page because you are not connected to the internet." The PC Base station (from which I am writing this note)is on the Internet using the AT&T DSL connection, and apparently the MacBook Pro reads the wireless signal, too. Never had this happen before to any wifi signal with my MacBook Pro...any ideas what is causing the conflicting reports? Thanks.

    Hi, a few ideas...
    Go to System Preferences
    Click Network
    Highlight AirPort and click Configure...
Choose “By default, join: Preferred networks”
Select your access point and Remove your access point with the minus button.
Launch your keychain access in Utilities and delete your access point keychain entry.
    Reboot
Go back to the “By default, join:” page and click the plus this time to add your access point. Enter the correct password, save, reboot.
Open System Preferences>Network>Configure>Proxies Tab, make sure none are set, like for HTTP & HTTPS.
Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106653
Another thing that has worked for many is to just copy/duplicate that Location in Network>Location>Edit Locations..., then use that one.
The Interface that connects to the Internet, needs to be drug to the top of Network>Show:>Network Port Configurations and checked ON.
Then... Try putting these numbers in Network>TCP/IP>DNS Servers, for the Interface you connect with...
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
    Then Apply
DNS Servers are a bit like Phone books where you look up a name and it gives you the phone number, in our case, you put in apple.com and it comes back with 17.149.160.49 behind the scenes.
These Servers have been patched to guard against DNS poisoning, and are faster/more reliable than most ISP's DNS Servers.
