Not connecting to the blackberry internet service

hi, my blackberry has been working fine for weeks but for for the past week my internet service won't connect at all, in the top corner it just says GSM and ive tried everything i can think of, restarting the phone, turning the network on and off but nothing is working. it either says GSM or SOS. its supposed to say EDGE but its hasnt changed at all. what would any of you recommend? my network is tesco so if anyone knows a way to sort it out, please let me know - harry

Under the mobile network options, do you see a box that says "network selection mode?"
Can you change that to EDGE if possible?  If you can't change these, give your carrier a call

  • I paid for the blackberry internet service, but I still don't have it!

I've had a Blackberry Curve 8520 for almost a year now, I'm on pay as you go with Vodafone. My internet service recently ran out so I topped up £10 yesterday and paid my Blackberry internet service (The £5.30 for 30 days) with my calling credit. It has always taken an average 10 minutes to start working again but it has now almost been 24 hours since I topped up and it is still not working. Blackberry App World is working, and one app that I downloaded requires internet and that's working fine. However, Faceboook, Browser, BBM, and Email are all not connecting. When I try and connect to the browser it comes up: "Unable to connect to the internet, please try again later. If the problem persists please contact your service provider" - and yes, I have rebooted my blackberry by taking out the battery, about twenty times now and nothing has changed. I woke up this morning and blackberry app world was the only thing working. I have also tried "Registering Now" on the Host Routing Table, but nothing happens. What do I do?!

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
I suggest you follow the one instruction you have received but have yet to follow -- contact your wireless service provider. They are responsible for delivering all services to you. Think of it this way -- you are paying them for services that they are not delivering!
    Good luck!

  • Macbook pro not connecting to the wireless internet

    Hello All,
This is my very first mac (a macbook pro) and for some reason it sees my wireless router, and says connected, but when i open safari the pages doesn't load. I am a beginner with macs and I would appreciate any help. Thanks.
    -Jay

You probably connected but failed to get an IP address. If you have other network devices turn them off, restart the router and see if you can get access to the Internet then. Otherwise click on the network diagnostics button (or which ever appears in Safari's failure) and see if it'll give you clues.

  • Wifi on but not connecting to the internet

I've checked all the wifi settings on my Curve 8900 and it seems to be set up properly but when I try to access the internet i get a message saying"Unable to connect to the internet" and in "Manage Connections" alhough there are blue ticks in the left hand box for mobile network, wifi and bluetooth, in the right hand box there is only a green tick for mobile connections and a white line for the other two.  I've tried connecting at both home and work and neither works.  it used to work fine and I don't know what's changed.  Can you help please?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
With a strong carrier network signal (e.g., not merely WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
    2) Resend Service Books
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
    3) Reboot
With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should contact your mobile service provider for formal support.
    Good luck!

  • Blackberry Internet Service Failure

I am trying to setup the Blackberry Internet Service to access my email server to obviously forward those emails to my Blackberry. Using the web service, I attempt to add my email account, but it always fails with this error: "An error occurred while validating your login. Please check your user name and password." Now I know after numerous attempts that at least one of the times I had to enter that info correctly. This will be followed by an email from the Blackberry server to my email address containing the settings I used. I have my .Mac and ISP emails working with my Blackberry without a problem.
I'll admit I'm an amateur at this, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    UptimeJeff,
Thank you for the prompt reply. I will post my IMAP config tomorrow when I am home. As far as the authentication goes, it appears that BB is using RC4-MD5. Am I correct? There is no way to change that on the BB end as far as I know. Can the OS X mailserver use RC4-MD5? Currently I have only Kerberos and CRAM-MD5 enabled.

  • Blackberry Internet Service account

    Hi everyone,
well, despite trying, this newbie couldn't get on with her Blackberry so has returned it to the shop and gone back to using her sad little nokia. I wanted to ask one quick last question before saying goodbye.
When I first set up my Blackberry, I created a Blackberry Internet Sevice account online. For the life of me, I can't remember exactly why I did this, but anyway, I went to the Blackberry Internet Service login screen (in an attempt to delete the account now that I've returned my phone), but it didn't recognise either my username or my password. It's not a big deal, but I'm a tidy soul and would have liked to delete the account. My question is this: I wiped my Blackberry before returning it and have subsequently changed the passwords to my email accounts: if I do still have a BIS account somewhere, will Blackberry, in theory, still have a link to my email accounts? I'm hoping not.
A special thanks to JSanders who helped me out when I was having problems.
    Bye now,
    Eve
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello,
You have done almost everything necessary to keep things clean. Changing your actual email passwords will prevent BIS from accessing those accounts, even if a BIS account should still exist. To truly eliminate the BIS account, you need to contact the carrier through which you created it...the carriers manage BIS accounts for their customers. See this KB for all steps that need to be carried out when transferring a used BB:
KB05099Steps to take before selling or after buying a previously owned BlackBerry smartphone
As to why you first created a BIS account, see this FAQ:
    http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/What_do_I_need_a_Data_Plan_for%3F
The last account in the list is the BIS-level account...you need BIS to enable those services.
    Good luck!

    Hi melihlevent,
Port 25 is used for sending email.  POP uses port 110 for receiving email.  The BlackBerry Internet Services uses the incoming POP or IMAP ports to retrieve your email.
When sending from the BlackBerry, we use our own SMTP server so we don't need to use your SMTP to send email.
The acceptation to this is when you integrate using Outlook Web Access, in which case, your mail server is used to send the email message.
    Thanks

  • Migration from the Blackberry Internet Server

    Hello Blackberry support.
I'm currently using an OS7 Torch.  It's running on the Blackberry Internet Service and so the device has an email address something like [email protected]  Email arriving at that address can be filtered and then pushed out to the handheld.  Wonderful service and works great.
I understand that the OS10 devices can't play here, probably due to RIM wanting out of the server business.
I'm like thousands and thousands of small users, wondering what Blackberry is suggesting as a migration path off the BIS.

Do you know why there`s no response to this question from the blackberry support experts?  It`s because there`s no good answer.  There are 80 million blackberry users still getting their mail at [email protected] and there's no path off that.  Here's the options and none of them include retaining the email address.
1/  Buy a BES server and get it running.  Expensive and out of the reach of most BIS users
2/  Buy an Exchange server and get it running.  Epensive and out of the reach of most BIS users.
3/  Buy and run some kind of IMAP server.  Epensive and out of the reach of most BIS users.
4/  Sell your soul to one of the big email hosting outfits like gmail, outlook, yahoo, apple, etc. and let them paw through everything you have with them looking for advertising opportunities to sell stuff to you and your contacts. Get no tech or personal support.  Gmail is running 250m email accounts.  Think they have any way to deal with individuals with problems?
5/ Pay for a private and secure email hosting outfit running BES, IMAP or Exchange and migrate to them.
It seems that Blackberry is only interested in the users capable of the first three options, and these are large businesses usually.  The small consumer level blackberry fans are being pushed into the snow, there's no future here for them.
Android phones have eaten three quarters of those pushed out.  Any doubt why?

  • My ipad2  appears to be connected to the internet, but I cannot connect..I keep getting Safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the internet....I restarted the router and the ipad still no connection...my service is working properly

My ipad 2 appears to be connected to the internet(all bars are up in the left hand corner).....yet I cannot connect to the internet(Safari cannot connect open the page because it is not connected to the internet)
I unplugged my router for 30 seconds and restarted my ipad...still nothing
I really don't think it is my service because my laptop works fine...as I am using the internet right now
I only had this ipad for 2 days
Are there any suggestions that can help solve this problem?

Usually it's because you are not making internet connection via wifi.

Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

    Hi,

    Yes,
Through Bonjour, Apple's open source zero configuration networking.
    https://developer.apple.com/bonjour/
    http://flylib.com/books/en/2.434.1.105/1/
And you can't turn it off or your computer won't work, however saving grace is the hacker has to be pretty close to your machine to do it.

  • Every time my MacBook Pro is put to sleep, it will not connect to the internet when reopened unless diagnostic assistant is performed. Ridiculous!

Every time my MacBook Pro is put to sleep, it will not connect to the internet upon reopening unless I perform diagnostic assistant.

Test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Back up all data before making any changes.
    1. Make sure the network is on the preferred list by following these instructions. It's important to read the article carefully, as it's the starting point for any further efforts to solve the problem. If you skip any of the steps, the problem may not be solved. Make sure the box marked
Remember networks this computer has joined
    is checked.
    2. Follow the instructions in this support article under the heading
Symptom: After restarting or waking from sleep, my computer might not connect to the Internet
    3. Reset the PRAM.
    4. Make a note of all your settings for Wi-Fi in the Network preference pane, then delete the connection from the connection list and recreate it with the same settings. You do this by clicking the plus-sign icon below the connection list, and selecting Wi-Fi as the interface in the sheet that opens. Select Join other network from the Network Name menu, then select your network. Enter the password when prompted and save it in the keychain.
    5. From the Location menu at the top of the Network preference pane, select Edit Locations. A sheet will drop down. Click the plus-sign button to create a new location. Give it any name you want. In the new location, set up the Wi-Fi service with the same settings you used before. Click Apply and test.
    6. Launch the Keychain Access application. Search for and delete all AirPort network password items that refer to the network. Make a note of the password first.
    7. Repair permissions on the startup volume.
    8. Turn off Bluetooth and test.
    9. Reset the System Management Controller.
    10. Reinstall OS X.

Help my brand new imac and ipad2 will not connect to the internet with Windstream using an "2WIRE" DSL modem.  Windstream tech service is useless.  i can connect with the built in router through Ethernet or wireless, but still no connecting to internet, help!  windstream said everything is working on their end, yea right.  What i do know is that both the mac and ipad work at other places and can connect with wireless connected to the internet, so i know it's not the apple products.
these are brand new machines with lion.
This is my first mac, so I’m still new to how it works, which is not helping either so a detailed help would be great.  Please help before my wife losses it
    thanks

There is a 2701HG-B, and a 2701HG-D.  If not labelled on the modem, ask Windstream which one they presently supply or how to tell the difference.
By the way tell your wife it isn't that bad.  At least you have an ethernet DSL modem.  There were times where DSL modems had RJ-11, USB, and Ethernet, and all three were used to provide access.  At least now only the craziest DSL providers still use those modems.

  • ITunes could not contact the iPhone software update server because you are not connected to the internet...???

    Ok I’m completely lost here....
I’m running Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3 (Build 2600), I updated iTunes to 11.0.2.25 and some other updates for windows last night on my laptop. I try connecting to download the iOS 6.1.2 update for my iPhone 4 and my iPhone 5 via iTunes. I am getting this message for both "iTunes could not contact the iPhone software update server because you are not connected to the internet. Make sure your internet connection is active and try again." Everything was fine with connecting prior to running these updates because I downloaded the 6.1 update with no problems when it came out.
What I have done so far with which has made no difference:
    Checked my internet connection
    Changed my internet connection
Signed out of iTunes and then signed back in
Ran diagnostics via iTunes, comes back with: Network interfaces verified- Internet connection failed- Secure link to iTunes store verified
Connection attempt to Apple web site was successful.
Connection attempt to browsing iTunes Store was successful.
Connection attempt to purchasing from iTunes Store was successful.
Connection attempt to iPhone activation server was successful.
Connection attempt to firmware update server was successful.
Connection attempt to Gracenote server was successful.
Last successful iTunes Store access was 2013-02-20 20:40:48.
Disabled firewall, spy sweeper, virus scanner
    start>run>cmd> typed "netsh winsock reset"
    Rebooted
Checked the parental controls in iTunes
    Start>control panel>internet options>connections tab> lan settings> selected the "automatically detect settings"
    Deleted iTunes and reinstalled iTunes
When I would "ping gs.apple.com" it would come back with "request timed out" no matter what internet connection I was on, so I went into the hosts file  start>my computer>(C:)>WINDOWS>system32>drivers>ect>HOSTS and added  "#     127.0.0.1     gs.apple.com". Now it will ping gs.apple.com just fine but still comes up with the "iTunes could not contact the iPhone software update server because you are not connected to the internet" message in iTunes when i try to download the update.
If anyone can come up with any ideas that I haven’t tried, please let me know. This is keeping me back from updating both of my phones along with if anything should ever happen to them; restores as well.

im computer is connected i can go to the apple store through itunes but when i plug my phone in i keep getting that alert... i plugged my phone in to update it after the apple loaded the itunes icon and a usb showed up.
