Not connecting to Wireless Network

Hi,
I made 2 profile on my Macbook. One for Administrator and one for normal usage.
Now if i try to connect to Internet (wireless network), Airport Express detects the network but its not able to log me in. The error msg shows "The server response from server not too strong", but for same scenerio the other account detects the wireless network. And after i log in and switch user to Administrator, it works fine....Any suggestions?

Have you installed the latest updates for Airport? If
yes, that could be your problem.
The latest update from Apple has caused problems in
MacBook's wireless connection -> At times I had to
restart up to three times before it randomly worked
fine again. Perhaps logging off/on does the same
thing.
I'm having this issue and it's become more than just a minor annoyance. Has Apple acknowledged this and have they said if they're working on a fix?

Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

  • Can not connect to wireless network any more, missing command

I can not connect to any wireless network. I have been having this problem for days. In desperation I installed 10.4 in a seperate HD. I clicked on the airport icon in the upper tool bar, selected my network name and clicked on "open internet connect" and I was connected, what?? I rebooted into 10.5 and tried the same thing again. But the panel that opens when you click on the airport icon has NO "open internet connect" command. A couple of weeks ago I reinstalled my OS. I have run diskwarrior and Techtool pro. Thinking back to the time I first installed 10.5 I don't remember ever seeing that command. Is Leopard compatible with the airport card? How do I get my "open internet connect" command back??

It sounds like a problem between hardware and software. When you select your network, does anything freeze or does nothing happen?
    Nothing happens.
Try this, open your Network Preference Pane, turn off airport off and delete the Airport connection by selecting "Airport" in the left pane and click the " - " button. Click on the "+" sign and create a new Airport connection. Hit Apply if it is available. Turn AirPort on and try to select your network and login if you can. The status should show Connected and an IP address should show up after of a couple of seconds.
I get "AirPort has a self-assigned IP address and may not be able to connect to the Internet". On a couple of occasions (over the last couple days) I got you are connected to the internet on IP 172.17.90.251. However when I tried to open a web page I got the banner you are not connected to the internet. Strange, the pref panet said I was the Safari said I was not. Certainly the IP address does not show up in a few seconds. I also have ComCast cable but I need to use the MetroFi-Free wireless so my wife has the bandwidth to do her company work using VPN.

  • HP LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M175nw does not connect to wireless network

I recently upgraded my wireless network router. I had my HP LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M175nw connected to the old wireless network router. The SSID is password protected (WPA2)
I need to connect the printer to the new wireless network router. However, neither the control panel nor blue wireless connection button provide any way for me to do this. The manual has not walked through a way to do this.
There really needs to be a simple, no-nonsense way to just connect the printer to the wireless network. How do I connect this printer to a new wireless network?

    Hi @shakayumi ,
I see that you are having issues configuring the printer on the new router. I would like to help.
    Restore the printer's network defaults.
    Touch the Setup button. (wrench)
    Select Network Setup Menu.
    Then select Restore Defaults.
Print out a configuration report to make sure the IP address is 0.0.0.0 and the SSID is cleared.
    Printing a Configuration Report.
Here are the directions for setting up the printer through the Wireless Direct to configure the printer over the network as Infrastructure.
Turn the Wireless Direct on the printer.
On the printer touch the setup button, (wrench) then select network setup menu, select wireless menu, select wireless direct and turn it on.
On the computer, in the bottom right corner click on the wireless icon and select the printer from the list to connect to. Then open Internet Explorer and type in the IP address (192.168.223.1) for the printer in the address bar.
This will load the embedded web server for the printer.
Select the networking tab, wireless on the left hand side.
Fill out all your network information, select infrastructure, select your network name, put in password and type of encryption. Apply settings.
Click on the wireless icon and connect back to your network name.
Print out a configuration report to make sure the IP address is valid. (192... or 10....)
Now create a new port, this will save you the time, instead of uninstalling and reinstalling the software.
Go to Start, Devices and Printers, right click the printer, go to Printer Properties, select the Ports tab.
Click Add Port, select Standard TCP/IP Port, then select New Port and follow the wizard.
Type in the proper IP address for the printer.
Make sure the printer is online.
    Test the printer.
If you are still having issues, then try this method:
If you have a Ethernet cable, connect it from the printer to the router.
Wait about a minute, print the configuration page to see if you get a IP address.
Then type the IP address into Internet Explorer's address bar to bring up the printer's web page.
Select the networking tab, wireless on the left hand side.
Fill out all your network information, select infrastructure, select your network name, put in password and type of encryption. Apply settings.
    Then disconnect the Ethernet cable.
Then wait a minute to see if you get a wireless light on the printer, print the configuration page and check the IP address again. Then type the IP address into Internet Explorer's address bar to bring up the printer's web page.
If the printer is back on the network, create a new port. Steps are listed above.
Make sure the printer is online.
    Try and print now.

  • HP Laserjet P1102W not connecting to wireless network

    Hi,
yesterday I tried to install my new Laserjet P1102W with wireless capabilities. The first setup went fine and I was able to print wireless from my pc. But when the printer went in sleep mode I had to redo the wireless setup to get it connected.
So I searched for a possible firmware update on the Ducth HP site, found the lastest firmware (20110826) and followed the instruction to upgrade it. But the upgrade took more than 20 minutes, and th lights on the printer didn't blink. So I pressed the power button again to wake it up, printed a selftest page and did see that the firmware was updated.
But then the problems started, the printer only gets a 169. ip address while I've setup the wireless correctly (tried manual and automatic setup) while I expect it to get a 192. address. And ofcourse I cannot print anymore via the wireless connection.
So I tried to find an older firmware to put back on the printer, but with no luck. Also tried to re-apply the latest firmware, but then I get the message that the printer is already up to date.
Is there a possiblility to force the firmware update to run again? Or can I get an older firmware from HP?
    Best regards
    Rob

I had the same problem, I was able to connect into my wireless network when I installed the printer (using the CD that came with it) and was able to print but when I turned off the printer and turned it back on  it won't connect to my computer
and my wireless network.  I did the same thing you did reinstall but get that 169 IP address.  Believe me I was on the phone with the Geek Squad tech for almost 2 hours and the problem was not solved so he told me to just keep the printer on so I don't lose connection.  Same thing with the 1st HP tech support who tried to help me.  He even changed something in my internet security but did not solve the problem at all.  The second HP tech support worked on it too and finally told me that it could be my router.  I have an old Linksys wireless G router so I decided to buy a new router and bought the Netgear N600 WNDR34000v2 and reinstall the printer and everything worked fine.  Also before you install the printer driver be sure to uninstall the printer program (go to Control Panel-Programs and Features) and also disable your firewall because it could also cause problems in the installation.  Now all my 5 computers in my network are using the printer and I can turn it on and off with no problems at all in printing.

  • Officejet pro 8600 will not connect to wireless network

I have an new Officejet Pro 8600 that I am trying to set up.  I have run the the wireless network setup wizard multiple times.  It recognizes the wireless network router asks for the WEP code and then thinks for about 5 minutes before returning a message: "Unable to connect to the network"
The wireless network test results suggestes that MAC address filtering may be the problem.  There is no MAC filtering function activated on our wireless router.
    The wireless router is a Verizon Actiontec MI424-WR    802.11 b & n
We have computers running both Windows XP and MAC OS X.
One of the reasons that we purchased this printer is for the wireless capabilities.  If it will not conect to the web then it may be going back.

    Hello,
Based on the provided details, I believe the issue have something to do with the wireless security settings of your router.
Please follow the steps below to access the Advanced Security Settings:
    http://www22.verizon.com/ResidentialHelp/FiOSInternet/Networking/Setup/ActiontecMI424/125511.htm
Below you will see the Network Authentication settings.
Select either Open System Authentication or Both.
Shared Key Authentication is not supported by the printer, and i believe this might be the cause for the connection failure.
Please let me know of any change,
    Shlomi

  • PC will not connect to wireless network

I have desktop P6620p with Windows 7. Until yesterday I was using mobile hotspot to connect to Internet via wireless connection. Yesterday evening I started having problems, I couldn't connect, the computer could not even find the wireless network there was nothing wrong with the mobile hot spot because the internet connection on my laptop woked just fine). Later, the computer completely crashed and our only option was to go back to "factory settings" (fun). Now, we have tried to start over but we still have the same problem with the wireless network, it won't connect because it won't even find the network.I tried to troubleshoot but it didn't help.  I am not computer specialist, we are out of warranty and we had that computer only little over 2 yrs. Anyone can help? Thanks.

    Hi ivanka4233,
I see that you are having problems connecting to your wireless hotspot, is that correct?
I have a few troubleshooting steps that you can try. Here is a link to those steps.
They will differ somewhat because you are using a hotspot and not a router.
Microsoft also has some helpful tips on connecting, here is that link.
If following those steps do not help then I would like for you to try the following:
Click Start, type command prompt in the Search Programs and files box, right-click Command Prompt and then click Run as administrator.
Type the following command:  netsh winsock reset
Let me know if this helps.

Hello. A few days ago i watched a tutorial on youtube on how to remove the red "x" problem over my internet icon, by deleting a file called "Config" in "Network" by opening"Regedit". I know see that I never should
have done that. I did that, and after that every time when I start up my computer it will not automatically connect to my wireless network as it did before i deleted that "Config" file.

    Hi,
Before we edit the registry, have we performed a backup of the registry files?  Do we have any backup available before the changes? If yes, please take use of the backups.
Besides, could you please have a share for which tutorial you have followed? Or please share with the full registry path?
Have you tried to reconfigure the wireless network settings with your laptop?

  • IMac G5 not connecting to wireless network (Airport Express)

Hello. I recently made a shift to working-from-home and I have my iMac G5 to replace an older iBook. My internet connection repeatedly gets cut off during the course of the day. I actually called my ISP and ask them to run some tests and they told me all is fine from their end. I have 2 iBooks who can access our network without any glitches. It just happens to be my iMac who is suffering from this pesky little problem. The admin computer is actually my husband's iBook G4, which he leaves in his home office. I already made updates and ensured that software is current. Please, help!

If his Mac is set up for Internet Sharing, then it might be possible that every time it goes into "sleep" mode is when you are losing the Internet connection.
I suggest that you double-check the settings on his Mac for Internet Sharing.
To setup for Internet Sharing (Wired to Wireless):
    Enable Software Firewall
System Preferences > Sharing > Firewall
    - Click Stop to start the software firewall
    Setup the Network
    Cable Modem > (Ethernet cable) > [Ethernet port] Mac_#1 > (wireless) > Mac_#2
    Setup Port Order
System Preferences > Network > Show > Network Port Configurations
    - Verify that "AirPort" and "Built-In Ethernet" are enabled.
    - Verify that "Built-In Ethernet" is at the top of the list, followed by "AirPort".
    - Click "Apply Now."
    Configure the Internet Connection
    System Preferences > Network > Show > Built-In Ethernet > TCP/IP
    - Configure IPv4: Using DHCP
    - Configure IPv6: Automatically or Off
    Enable Internet Sharing
System Preferences > Sharing > Internet
    - Share your connection from: Built-in Ethernet
    - To computers using: AirPort (checked) (Note: Uncheck all other entries in the list.)
    - AirPort Options
    -- Network Name: <anything you want>
    -- Channel: Automatic
-- Enable encryption (using WEP) (optional)
    -- Password: (optional)
    -- Confirm Password: (optional)
    -- WEP Key Length: (optional)
    -- Click OK
    - Click Start

  • Time Capsule not connecting to wireless network

Just bought shiny new iMac with shiny new Time Capsule (500G) and i'm ready to launch the whole lot out the window!!!
Despite my very best efforts i'm unable to connect my TC to my wireless network. Every time I use Airport Utility the TC recognises the wireless network, proceeds to change the settings normally, the TC then restarts and the bloody amber light flashes and the iMac cannot find the TC. I then have to reset the TC so the iMac can find it and the whole process starts all over again. I apologise if this topic has come up before but i'm at my wits end!!

Well, things in Paris, France a wee bit brighter but not much.
I managed initially to use TC via Ethernet connection (for my initial Mac system safeguard) as TC did not recognise or was not recognised by my Airport WiFi home network.
Now, after various attempts and properly configuring TC to "join" my existing network all lights are green and config seems "A" OK.
On the hour, wirelessly, TC starts doing its bit showing: under the Time Machine box's "Backing up" sub title: "Preparing" with a running blue/white bar..
A couple of hours later TC system stops advising me there was a "wireless connection interruption".
This has been going on for a few days now and, as far as I know, never has my Orange's LiveBox WiFi, ADSL, Router Modem suffered any interruption of service.
    What to do or change??

  • Can not connect to wireless network any more

I had been using MetroFi which is a city wide free network. The nearest transmitter/receiver is only 30 feet away. I had been getting 4 bars signal strength. Now when I open airport status, turn on airport and select MetroFi nothing happens. The window which shows that you are connected, signal strength, etc does not open. I have checked using TechTool Pro and the Apple hardware test CD and the airport card seems to be working. There is no special software for MetroFi. Any ideas?
    Bob

I tried rename but did not work. Actually, I can see several networks around the neighborhood. If I try the ones that require the window appears asking for password. If I try those not marked with a lock nothing happens. The window showing the signal strength and what you are connected to never opens. I even set up my old airport base station. It's name "home network" appeared but I could not connect. I am lost.

I have went to phone settings and connect to a network. The phone says known networks will be joined automatically. I clicked on my network, put in my passcode and it does nothing. I'm doing this to print pictures from my iphone 4 to my wireless printer.

I believe being able to print wirelessly is the best invention ever! With that being said, are you using the Air Print on the iPhone?

  • B209a will not connect to wireless network

    Hello,
I have a LAN at home where the B209a printer is connected wirelessly to a router which is itself connected vie ethernet over a powerline bridge to another wireless router which connects to the internet via DSL.  This configuration worked fine until the wireless router connected to the printer (a Belkin item) failed.
I replaced the failed router with a Netgear WNR2000v3 wireless router and, using the setup disk provided with the printer, connected it to the printer wirelessly.  Then the problems began....
Firstly, although computers connected wirelessly to the other router could 'see' the printer, it was not possible to print from them with 'printer offline' being reported.
To try to resolve this, I then changed the SSIDs on both routers to make them the same and tried to set up the printer again.
Now, however, I cannot connect the printer at all.  During the setup the printer 'sees' both networks.  When I try to connect, however, the setup procedure gets stuck at 'looking for network'.  The printer is connected to the iMac running 10.5.8 via USB as recommended in the setup instructions.  referring to a similar discussion elsewhere, I printed the config page from the printer which shows the printer Ip to be 0.0.0.0.
I would therefore appreciate advice to how first connect the printer back to the Netgear router and then how to print from it using a computer connected wirelessly to the other router on the LAN, which would restore the functionality in place until the Belkin router failed.
    Thanks in anticipation.

Following the advice in the article http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Networking-and-Wireless/photosmart-plus-b209a-won-t-connect-to-... I was able to conect the printer to the router.
However, the other problem remains: I cannot print from a computer connected to a different router in the LAN.
Any advice on this would be appreciated.
