Not converting to ipod format

Hi, have read all the discussions relating to reformatting videos. I have .mov file, tried to convert via Videora and PSPware and both have failed. We have tried to eliminate all possibilities, but cant tell why we can't transfer to ipod even just as .mov file. Is this an issue with the type of file or is there something I should be doing to transfer to ipod?

Have you seen this, it might help you;

  • Real Media .rm files Can they convert to ipod format somehow?

I have several .rm (real media) files that I cannot seem to get converted into an IPOD format with any software I have tried.
Any suggestions or am I just wasting money downloaded software that says it can conver .rm but doesn't?
    Please can anyone help!!!

Nope, not frustrated at all by the "media limitations" of the iPod.
I actually read the supporting media, website description, specs of the device.
I knew in advance it would not support windows media or real media(both bad and in real medias case all but dead).
Apple supported industry standardized, open non-proprietary codecs-just like they do in quicktime.

  • Videos converted to ipod format have no sound

I just got a new nano and I have some videos I'd like to synch to it. But when I have iTunes convert them to ipod format I lose the sound. How do I fix this??

I can't make a good recommendation since I avoid Windows like the plague.
As a Mac user, I can only relay info that I have read on these forums.
I believe users have had mixed results with Videora iPod Converter. Some people rave about it, some people hate it.
I'm not too sure what else is out there.
I'm sure a Windows user will post here soon with some other recommendations.
EDIT: Just noticed that MPEG Streamclip has a Windows version now. You might want to check that out.

  • Muxed Video Files, how to unmux and convert to iPod format?

    Hi,
I recently learned that all my music video files are muxed. I just bought Quicktime Pro learning from a support rep. that that program will do the job. Wrong, and a waste of 30.00, I think. I was wondering if there was anyway to unmux these files so i can convert them to an iPod format using Quicktime Pro? Any help and/or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,

No, QuickTime Pro won't work with muxed files. You'll have to use something like Videora to convert them to iPod format.

  • No sound after converting to ipod format with quicktime

quicktime plays the unconverted file with sound just fine. after converting the video is fine but no sound. any help?

QT will not export sound from mpeg-1 or mpeg-2 files. Check you video before converting to see what the format really is. Open the video in the Player and use MovieInfo in the Window menu to check the format.
This freeware may help if they are mpeg files:

  • Converting to ipod format takes forever..?

converting downloaded .avi movies to mpg4 or h264 for my ipod video seems to take hous and hours for films of less than 1 hour length.
is this normal? I work on an imac G5, so that can't be it.
I use quicktime pro 7 to do this
    annyone have an answer?
    thanks

The slow encoding of H264 has been noted many times in this group. You could try making a mpeg-4 video instead of H264 if you are willing to settle with a little less quality or somewhat larger files. These settings for the iPod have been posted a number of times:
H.264 video: up to 768 Kbps, 320x240, 30 frames per sec., Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3 with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats.
MPEG-4 video: up to 2.5 mbps, 480x480, 30 frames per sec., Simple Profile with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats<<

Can you provide a sample of one of your files or more specific target settings used? For instance, did you use the MPEG-4/AVC codec but forget to switch to the "x.264 (Baseline profile)" encoder or forget to lower the default video data rate, etc?

  • Trouble converting to ipod format

    I've got a 23 minute piece thats a DivX 3.11, 352 x 240, Millions
MPEG Layer 3, Stereo, 44.100 kHz
every time I run it through an export in quicktime to the ipod preset format I get the message in the progress window at the end of the export with "failed" in the bottom left corner of the window and the file that it made at the beginning of the export isn't there any more.
it also did this with a file that is MPEG1 Muxed, 320 x 240
    whats up with that??

Are you exporting in Quicktime with Quicktime Pro?

  • .csv files exported not converting to Tabular format jdev patch 6908968

After jdeveloper patch 6908968 on 12.0.6, the data is copied into an Excel .csv file but the entire data is copied to the single cell/column.
Developed an OAF page which has the standard Oracle Export Functionality for one of our requirements. When exporting from the OAF page, it is creating a .csv file(as expected) , but the data is not copied to individual cells. The whole data is going to one cell rather than into individual columns.
According to Bug 4699555 you can use one of the following workarounds :-
    a. change "List separator" value from ";" to "," in the Regional Options,
    b. in Excel, after opening the .csv file, go to "Data" -> "Text to Columns ...",
choose "comma" as the delimiter in the wizard.
    c. instead of Opening the file, Save it with .txt extension open MS Excel and open the saved file and specify delimited + comma as the delimiter during the text import process.
The workarounds work, however this is not acceptable as there are 380,000 users. This worked as expected with 11.5.10 and not with upgraded R12. 12.0.6 with jdeveloper patch '6908968' for developing the OAF page with jdeveloper export button option.
Is there a setup step missing or that changed for R12 and the column delimiter?

You MAY want to think about a product that will read the output from your DVD player and convert to DV AVI
Matt with Grass Valley Canopus in their tech support department stated that the model
110 will suffice for most hobbyist. If a person has a lot of tapes that were played
often the tape stretches and the magnetic coding diminishes. If your goal is to encode
tapes in good shape buy the 110, if you will be encoding old tapes of poor quality buy
    the model 300
Both the 110 and 300 are two way devices so you may output back to tape... if you don't
need that, look at the model 55

  • Audio problem when converting to ipod format

I'm trying to convert .mpg files into ipod video files using Quicktime Pro 7.0.4. I use the default options and the export goes great, but there is no audio in the exported file. Anyone have any ideas?

  • Convert Windows ipod to mac; Can I go back?

I read the following on Apple's knowledge info.
"You can convert an iPod formatted for Windows into an iPod for Mac by using the iPod for Mac Software Updater on the Apple website. Note that once it is reformatted, it will only work with Macs. You need Mac OS 9.2 or Mac OS X 10.1 or later to reformat an iPod for Windows into an iPod for Mac."
Now my question is if I convert a windows ipod to a mac ipod and then can I go back later and convert it from a mac ipod back to a pc ipod?
Has anyone done it successfully? I understand it isn't officially supported.

If I use my daughter's PC (with iTunes & iPod software) to configure the iPod to be formatted to accept the PC data, I need to "reset" the iPod.
You mean to restore the iPod. Restore and reset are quite different operations.
This will erase everything which is no problem as I have all the music on my Mac and can reinstall - or can I?
    Yes, you can.
When resetting the iPod on the PC does that operation make that PC the "master" and cause the iPod to want to be connected to it for updates of songs?
After you restore the iPod on the PC, it makes the PC the master.
Will that cause the iPod to think my Mac is not its "master" computer?
    Yes, it will.
To use an iPod between these 2 computers and allow the iPod to be readable by both the Mac and the PC, you should restore the iPod using the PC and set the iPod to manual update. Check this: Using iPod with multiple computers

  • Camera R A W WILL NOT CONVERT IMAGES TAKEN IN RAW IN A NIKON 5300D

I have the latest version of camera raw installed on my program (Elements 11)
I shooting in raw format on a Nikon d5300,but elements can not convert the
Nikon format to allow me to import into elements for development.
Some one with a suggestion, other than using a different program or dumping the new camera on e-bay.

    Hi,
The D5300 requires camera raw 8.3 which is not compatible with Photoshop Elements 11
    You can either
    1) Buy the latest version of Photoshop Elements
    2) Use the free Adobe DNG converter to take the NEF files and converts them to DNG files. The DNG files can then be processed by Photoshop Elements 11
