NOT CRASHING BUT QUITTING??
Hey all I'm reposting this as my activation was not an issue. All of my products are registered and chat support didn't help at all. Before calling adobe I thought I'd turn to your collective genius.
Recently all of my creative suite apps have been crashing right as I open them. I'll click Photoshop (32 bit and 64 both have this issue) and everything loads except for the dialogue box that asks if this is a new project, opening recent projects, etc. Right then as it is trying to load those things, it simply crashes. It doesn't just crash though it seems like a force quit. Once I was able to open up a project before it closed and drew something on it. It then asked me if I wanted to save the changes made. The program stayed open until I saved the new project or clicked no. However immediately after saving the program would then close.
TL;DR The Creative suite apps are "force quitting" more so than crashing. If I open a project and manage to make a change before it auto quits itll ask if I want to save changes or not before photoshop quits. No other option, no cancel, no x in the box, I cant cntrl w close the dialogue its just yes or no.
System:
Asus 2013 Machine Windows 8 (not 8.2 or whatever the new one is that is constantly harassing me to upgrade in the window store)
i7 8gb ram
I have uninstalled and reinstalled MULTIPLE times as well as updated all my software. Ive done it via the uninstaller as well as from my control panel and nothing has worked. Can anyone help me?
Also as a side note I got these programs from my university (UC Berkeley)
This is all I could find

Sometimes when I quit Firefox, it makes my Mac screen display solid blue color. The computer does not crash, but I can't see anything. Opening programs, nor hitting any shortkey makes the display work again, so I have to shut down.
I am using Macbook pro, OS 10.6.8, 4 GB memory, 2 ghz intel processors i7. This has happened about 6 times in the last 3 months. Seems to be getting more frequent. Sometimes happens after using Netflix streaming video, sometimes after browsing sites that don't play video. I frequently use Pandora, but have Firefox set to dump cache, memory, etc. after each use.Have you tried a safe start by holding the shift key when you boot? If that works, and it can take a while to complete, see if a regular boot now works. If it does, you need to free up space on your hard drive.
If a safe boot doesn't work, you need to either boot from an OS X DVD or go into target disk mode to connect via firewire cable to another mac to free up space on your hard drive. You need 5GB min, with 10% to 15%, or more, better, for systems usage. If you have a backup, move some data files to it, erase them and empty the trash. -
Mail not crashing but not working
Today I noticed that I haven't received any emails in the past few days - hitting "Get Mail" does nothing other than a nice soft chime. I log on to Mobile Me - no recent mail. Then check my Ipad - nothing new.
I check "Connection Doctor" and everything is green. I repair permissions using Disk Utility - twice. I throw out the .plist file - nothing seems to work.
What else can I do? Should I reinstall Mail? I've backed my emails up so I'm not worried about losing anything.Hmmmm, the chime & checking WebMail would seem to indicate you have none, but have you tried eMailing yourself anything?
Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move this folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...

Move this file to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
Reboot.
If that doesn't do it and you can afford to redo all your Rules, try these & reboot...

I know there is a thread in the beta forum with a generic title "Safari acting strange" but I figured a more specific thread title might get more attention from those experiencing the same anomalies.
Here is my problem:
I'm using Safari 3.0.4 that came with the Leopard 10.5 disk I installed on my laptop. Safari was working fine for a good couple weeks and then suddenly it began acting strange indeed.
Now after an undetermined amount of time when I have a Safari browser window(s)/tab(s) open it will suddenly disappear off my screen without provocation (meaning I don't have to perform any action to do this. I can be sitting there not touching the laptop or typing anything; it will just disappear as if some unseen person with a remote control hits the Let's-mess-with-this-guy's-computer button). At first glance it seems that Safari has crashed.
However when I look to see what happened or perhaps relaunch I see that Safari is still up and running. The menu bars all work. It seems to be in perfect working order. Only problem is the browser windows have disappeared and nothing I do will bring them back. I can try to create new browser windows and Safar thinks it is creating them because I can check in Windows menu and see the fruits of my efforts stacking up more and more as I add new windows and tabs in an attempt to get the browser windows back. However where these windows live is a mystery to me. When I try to quit Safari I get an Alert message asking me if I really want to close the windows with the multiple tabs in them (further supporting the theory that Safari still thinks windows are open and seeable by me)
When I DO quit Safari and relaunch it, it remains in the same state. No browser window is seen yet looking in the Windows menu I can see that a new browser window is present. The only way to use my Safari again is to reboot my computer. Of course this fixes the problem for maybe 5 minutes until the browser windows disappear again. And that's when I switch to Firefox.
I've repaired permissions. I've checked for any Input Managers folder for culprits but seeing as this is a fairly new laptop and that I just did an Archive and Install of Leopard with a fresh Safari in toe I have not installed any 3rd party applications so no Input Managers folder exists anywhere on my laptop.
I have the standard Safari Plug-Ins that come with Quicktime.
I have Spaces turned off. I am not using dual monitors so the browser windows are not being shot off to a second screen somewhere.
I see nothing in the crashlog because I actually don't think Safari is treating this behavior as a crash. It's not quitting unexpectedly or anything.
So I am at a total loss. Any ideas?I had this problem as well.
First: In Safari go into preferences and select the "security" tab. Uncheck "Enable Plug-ins"
This fixed a lot of bugs for me !
Second: If that worked than you just need to go to Hard Drive/Library/Internet Plug-Ins
There should be a folder there that is called "Disabled Plug-Ins" I just put all of the plug-ins in that folder, went back and rechecked " Enable Plug-Ins" in Safari preferences, and then one by one added plug-ins back out of the disabled folder while reloading a web page that caused problems before. After some trial & error I think I have a setup that works for now. Hope this helps!! Also as of now I have installed all software updates. My mac has been doing this for a while. Logging out & back in reset safari back to where it was useable.
I have not had problems with any other programs. -
Some programs crash but not in safe mode or for guest user
Hoping that some talented and kind Mac wizard will help me solve a bizarre problem: Some but not all of my programs have started crashing immediately upon launch, but not in safe mode, nor when I log in as a guest user.
The problem began on February 5th, right after I installed an update to my OS (bringing it up to version 10.7.3), which included an update to the firmware for my computer, a Mac mini from mid-2010. The programs that began crashing upon launch *may* be those that were open at that time, but I can’t be sure. They include Adobe Reader, Picasa, Word for Mac, and a sweet little utility called uCalendarX.
Specifically what happens with, say, uCalendarX, is this: After I launch it, nothing appears on screen for a few seconds, and then comes a message that it is trying restore its windows, with a choice of whether to attempt restoring them or not. After a few more seconds comes the news that it has quit unexpectedly. The first several dozen lines of the crash log appear at the end of this posting.
So far my troubleshooting has revealed the following:
(a) When I reboot in safe mode, the programs that crash now work normally.
(b) When I boot the usual way but log on a guest user, the programs that crash now work normally.
(c) Fully emptying the trash made no difference.
(d) The problem was not solved by restoring my hard drive (via Time Machine) to its state the day before I downloaded that update to the OS and the firmware. (This was a drastic step, the intervention of last resort, and I was sure it would work. But no. Perhaps I did not go back far enough for the restoration.)
(e) Deleting the plist files and plist.lockfiles made no difference.
(f) Deleting the files for the app under Saved Application States made no difference.
(g) Disabing the user’s font cache (as happens in safe mode) made no difference.
(h) Uninstalling Adobe Reader, emptying the trash, downloading the latest version, and installing that made no difference – this latest version newly installed continues to crash (but not for a guest user, nor for me, the administrator, in safe mode).
(i ) Repairing permissions on the hard drive made no difference.
I will be mighty grateful for a solution to this perplexing, vexing problem!
B.t.w., I don’t know Unix but was able to do all those (fruitless) interventions listed above.

The programs don't crash when that account is running, just as they don't crash when the guest-user's account runs. So it seems that the problem is limited to the default user's account, which is the one that was running when I installed the updates to the OS and the firmware. Another clue is that the programs that crash as soon as they are launched are *probably* the ones that were open at that time in that account. Yet deleting Saved Application States does not keep the programs from crashing when next launched.
So the mystery continues, but these additional facts will help with the diagnosis, I hope.
Thanks again for your suggestion.

ToC in CS4 crashes but not in CS3
Hi, i'm new to CS4 and i'm having a huge problem with a ToC in a book, everytime i try to update it, InDesign crashes, without prompting any error message, it just quits and disappears. I thought it had something to do with my document, though i couldn't put my finger on it. But this morning i tried with an older CS3 document, opened it in CS4 and it crashes too. It does not crash in CS3. Even more strange, i did another new document to build another ToC (in case it was my document that was corrupt or something) and it was working fine... but all of a sudden it stopped working and started crashing, i didn't make any changes, just reupdated it
Is there something that changed drastically in how InDesign handles the ToC? Maybe i'm doing something wrong since i kind of just figured it would work the same as in CS3.
Or maybe it's because we're still using MAC OS 10.4 ??
Any help would be wonderful!
Thanks in advance.humm maybe my message was confusing, it's the native CS4 file that is crashing, in my book (book panel) in CS4.
The test i did was to take a native CS3 document, opened it in CS4 and it started crashing too, while the same document would not crash in CS3.
Therefore my problem is with eitheir native and/or converted file in CS4...
though you make me think, i'm gonna try to export my book in INX just for fun and open it in CS3 see if still crashes... though it will not be a long term solution because we noticed that converted INX files tend to have textbox lenght issues...
edit : after the test above, i now confirm that my problem is with CS4, because when i export my CS4 document into a CS3 (inx) one, my ToC works fine
and we cannot use CS3 for that document, it needs to be in CS4... -
As said above, after updating to 37.0.1, Firefox is OK but when I close it sometime (not always) a message says it crashed, but it never actually crashed.
Thanks & best regards

Milano ItalyI agree with you. adobe sometimes crashes(has been doing this as long as I can remember). But, i think it is another problem with firefox. This was not happening before 37.0.1

I meet a problem that firefox happens to crash, but i can not get the dump because it has been uploaded?
Is there any way I can get the dump(Not the raw dump)? This problem is not a pop-up. First of all the problem did not start until Yahoo changed their set up for ads in Yahoo Games.
Once it did start, the ads do not "pop-up", it is a vertical bar that is there all the time. You cannot get rid of it.
By the same token, it is not a Yahoo Problem since the problem does not exist using another server.
Yahoo says it has to do with some add-ons or plug-ins in Firefox that is causing the problem.
As you can see by the screen picture, one third of the game screen has a vertical ad area. I want to get rid of it. -
Ever since I downloaded the Acrobat Pro 11.0.09, the PDF Maker has not worked, but instead causes MS Word 2013 to crash. I cannot find the cause or the solution.
forumnotifierOK I will try to elaborate this time with pictures so it is clear what I am asking and what the issue I am facing is.
The specific option I want to be able to use from within the Adobe Acrobat Pro user interface is
File\Create\Batch Create Multiple Files
When I select that menu item a floating tool bar thing pops up that I can drag and drop files onto.
If I drag excel or powerpoint documents onto it and press OK it converts them fine. If I drag MS word documents into it the documents appear in the list but when I click OK it says no files processed.
In the process of troubleshooting I also tried using the Add Files button. That is when I discovered that MS word documents (*.doc, *.docx) are not showing up in the list of supported file types.
The same thing happens when I try converting a single file using the File\Create\Create PDF From File menu item. Just like above the MS word documents do not show up in the list of supported file types.
Looking in my registry entries as suggested by the article linked to by one of the posters above I can see both *.doc and *.docx types registered in the correct place.
Unless I can use the batch convert command as intended by the time my trial period runs out in 13 days I cannot justify buying this software. If converting the documents one at a time was acceptable I would just use Save As PDF from within MS Word which works just fine. I need the batch convert function so I can convert my whole library of word documents to PDF at once.
Any further assistance greatly appreciated!

Lately, I've been getting a blue screen in the midst of working and have to do a cold reboot to end it. Seems to happen when I'm closing windows or quitting applications. Not always, but sporadically. What causes this? I'm using 10.6.8 on early 2011 MBP. Thanks for any help/advice!
You have 10.6 on that machine, I suggest you stick with it for performance, third party hardware and software reasons as long as possible.
Consider 10.8 (not 10.7) when it's released, because 10.7 and 10.8 will require a new investment in software and newer third party hardware as it requires newer drivers the old machines won't have. (forced upgrade because of software, really nice of them)

Far as your Safari problem do these things until it's resolved:
1: Software Update fully under the Apple menu.
2: Check the status of your plug-ins and update (works for all browsers) also install Firefox and see if your problems continue. You should always have at least two browsers on the machine just in case one fails.

CS3 to CS4/CS5-- Book TOC crashes but not in chapters
Hi, i'm having a conversion problem again,
i'm working within a book (like always) and i have a main TOC, that regroups styles from all the documents, in CS3 i had no problem with it, but in CS4/CS5 it makes ID crash and i have no idea why. the thing that is even more strange is that every document inside the book has its own TOC (with more styles) included, and they do not crash my InDesign. It seems to be only the one that "reads" the styles across the book that do so.
Anybody has an idea why?
i get this error message :
Thanks in advance!
Message was edited by: korinsamaedit that needed a bump :
since my TOC in for the book differs from the TOC in each chapter, i tried importing the one from the chapters (the one that technically doesn't crash)
... but once in the book TOC when i check 'include book documents" ... well... it crashed... so i'm guessing it's not the TOC styles that have a problem but the fact that i'm trying to apply it to the whole book ..... which... is really problematic...
retested the original TOC, just unchecked the "include book documents" and it didn't crash..... i wish there was a detailed crash log so i could understand what's going on... it's kind of ridiculous that i can generate a single document TOC but not the exact same one applied to a book....
soooo the good news is, i can generate each chapter individually and copy/paste into the main TOC, which is good since in earlier version of INDD, copy/pasting TOC made it crash.. and it doesn't anymore

On my iPad Air Safari crashes and quits when I view a slideshow.
On my iPad Air , Safari crashes and quits when I view a slideshow on an internet site. Sometimes it doesn't crash but the slideshow is freezes. Any idea why?
Try clearing Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cookies And Data (Clear Cache on iOS 4) and also Clear History
If that doesn't work then try closing Safari completely and then re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot. -
Crash on quit when switching resolutions.
In case there are others out there needing to switch resolutions and have a full screen app running on the desktop with OS X 10.8 and Director 12.
I thought I would share this experience and offer a way of fixing it.
If you use BuddyAPI to change the screen resolution of your project and set the "Full Screen" option in the build settings for your projector. The projector will crash when you use the halt command.
This only happens on OS X 10.8 and you projector is built with Director 12. Director 11 will not have this problem. But as we all know custom fonts will not display properly on OS X 10.7 and 10.8 when the projector is built with Director 10, 11 or 11.5.
By the way it is also important not to use the older baSetDisplay as there will be color palette problems if you have used any art that have reduced palettes.
Rather use baSetMultiDisplay, it works like a charm.
if (the platform contains "Windows") then
isOK = baSetMultiDisplay( "primary", 800 , 600 , 32 , 60 , "temp" , 2 )
else
isOK = baSetMultiDisplay( "primary", 800 , 600 , 32 , 75 , "temp" , 2 )
end if
The fix for the crash is also with the help of BuddyAPI.
If you not set the projector options to "Full Screen" when you reset the monitor's resolution the menu bar will remain, so use BuddyAPI's baHideTaskBar(2) to get rid of it. Now it no longer crashes on Quit.
Hope this can save someone some grief.
Cheers!

32 D&D2_stub_SP_v1_2 0x00001c58 0x1000 + 3160Thank you everyone for your comments and help. We had to push the release back two weeks for many reasons, some of them this issue.
But I thought my solution would be good to know for people. For the record I was attempting to edit at 4k with imported RED files converted to optimized media. What I didn't realize is that some of those clips were actually shot at 5 or 6k. I think that was one problem in and of itself, so I converted my projects to 1080p. Still got memory errors though.
So I think what solved the issue was when I flushed the cache by moving it outside the library. I think FCP had crashed while doing background renders from choking on some of the odd clips. I believe that corrupted some of the cache system, and wasn't fixed even when regenerating the cache files.
So I went to project settings and set the project cache to be outside of my project file in a folder I created. When doing so you are prompted to decide whether or not to move your current cache. I didn't, and this forced it to re-reender all those clips (but not the original optimized or proxy media). This seemed to clear up every problem I was having with Final Cut Running Out of Memory problems. I bet it was the cache, but could have been related to the mixed resolutions.
So I thought this might helpful to others searching this forum, and thanks again for everyone's help!
