Not creating a safety backup

Hi.
Everytime I connect my iPod Touch, iTunes creates a safety backup of my data. Is it possible to disable this function ?

Probably - have you asked in the iTouch forums? I don't have one of those.

    Backups of the JVM.CONFIG file are not created.
    CF10 > Server Settings > Java and JVM   in part says:
    Backups of the jvm.config file are created when you hit the submit button. You can use this backup to restore from a critical change.
    CF10 Help page indicates jvm.bak will be created:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/ColdFusion/10.0/Admin/WSc3ff6d0ea77859461172e0811cbf3638e6-7ff c.html#WSc3ff6d0ea77859461172e0811cbf3638e6-7feb
    Note Help indicates incorrectly JVM.CONFIG and BAK are in cf_root\runtime\bin where as JVM.CONFIG is located cf_root\instance\bin .
    Thanks in advance, Carl.

    I must have not had enough coffee - JVM.BAK is created in where JVM.CONFIG is found. Pardon me.

  • Configurator 1.4 will not create a backup

    Hi,
    After struggling with many of the issues seen in other posts about configurator 1.4, I have hit upon another problem in that I simply cannot get it to create a new backup of any device, supervised or unsupervised.
    I connect the device I want to backup - select devices - backup - I can see the clock icon for about 1 second, and then nothing. No backup has been created and no message either, basically nothing!
    I am at a loss of what to try next.

    Just a quick update, I tried refreshing one of our newer iPads (iPad2 2nd gen) and then backing this one up and that was sucessful, I was then able to apply the new backup to the older iPad (iPad2 1st gen) so I do now have a backup I am able to apply again.
    I have now run into an issue with the VPP though, and I still have to go through the initial set-up each time, so we are not out of the woods yet, but at least I have a working back-up!

  • "Could not create a backup" Apple Configurator issue

    I manage two carts of iPads (iOS 8.1.3) for my small junior high school. We use Apple configurator to supervise them and to Check out/Check in. I currently have four iPads that are in the setup assistant mode but the configurator still thinks they are checked out to students. When I attempt to check them in I get an error message that reads, "Could not create a backup. The device is showing the setup assistant" and when I show details it shows Code 4. Consequently, I cannot check out another device to these students as the Configurator thinks they have already been assigned a device.
    Any ideas for me?
    Thanks!

    The first thing I would check are permissions on directories that Apple Configurator read/writes. Maybe something there is preventing the backup.
    Also, I remember reading somewhere that the code 4 error sometimes happens if you don't turn off "Find My iPad."
    You could also try putting your iPad into recovery mode then unsupervising it in Configurator... then re-supervising it and try restoring the backup.
    Hope this helps!

  • Creating a Bootable Backup in ML

    I've been doing a bit a reading here, but I am still unsure of what I need to do.  I recetnly upgraded from Snow Leopard to ML, but I want to create a bootable (mirror)  backup on an external drive.  I have always used SuperDuper to do this.  Super Duper claims that it's latest version will create a bootable backup of ML. My backups in the past have been a bootable mirror of my drive and not the OS alone.  Am I better off just redownloading ML and creating a bootable thumb drive of ML or would I be ok mirroring my drive with ML on it as a bootable backup.  I hope this was clear...
    My backup system has been like this:
    Two 1tb bootable HDs (mirrored) that I swap out every week - the one not in use goes into a fire safe
    One 2tb for TM
    Cloud backup for important stuff.
    Thank you!!

    The Lion Recovery Disk Assistant is an app. When you Open it, you have the opportunity to create a Recovery HD on a thumb drive for whichever OS X you're currently booted into. Just the Recovery HD and not the entire installation of OS X. The Recovery HD is created and hidden when you install OS X. SuperDuper! doesn't clone this. Here is some reading for the Recovery HD in Mountain Lion. It's the same for Lion. If the Recovery HD isn't on your system, you won't have the ability to boot into it for recovery purposes. So the Recovery Disk Assistant gives you this ability via a thumb drive.
    The main difference between creating a Mountain Lion Recovery HD  and Lion Recovery HD is the Reinstall Mac OS X option in the Utilities menu. The Lion Recovery HD ONLY downloads and installs Lion. The Mountain Lion Recovery HD ONLY downloads and installs Mountain Lion.
    For example, if you create the thumb drive while in Mountain Lion, its Recovery HD is put on the thumb drive. And when you boot from that thumb drive, you get the Utilities menu of selections with the ability to download and install Mountain Lion. So, you can't use that thumb drive to download and install Lion. Hope this makes sense.

  • Creating a bootable backup for upgrade to Lion

    I've read some articles and watched some videos on how to create a disk of my drive from the disk utility. Is that a good way to create a bootable backup of my Mac Mini? I also want to have all my applications transferred over to Lion, though I know how to do that in the installation of the OS. But I want a fresh install over Snow Leopard and reinstall my apps from that bootable disk, again is that possible? If this can work, how can I know for sure if the backup works?

    Spinland wrote:
    Then what CSound1 said: use CCC to clone your drive to another disk for safekeeping, then install Lion and enjoy. All of your apps will still be there after the upgrade.
    Have you checked to make sure your apps are Lion compatible? This guide can help you find out:
    http://fairerplatform.com/2011/07/are-your-apps-lion-compatible-how-to-check/
    Hi Spinland
    That is not what I said exactly ......
    1 Clone the SL (internal) to the external.
    2 Boot from the external and install Lion on it.
    3 Run Lion from the clone until you know it works (and you can identify any incompatible apps).
    4 Clone the Lion external back to the internal.
    5 You're done.

  • MRP does not creates Shcedule Line

    I have a valid scheduling agreement LPA in place. Scheduling Agreement is approved and released status.
    I have source list also maintained for same scheduling agreement with long validity and MRP indicator as 2 - Create Schedule line automatically.
    I am running MRP using following parameters in MD02.
    Processing key          NETCH               Net Change in Total Horizon
    Create purchase req.    3                   Planned orders
    Delivery schedules      3                   Schedule lines
    Create MRP list         1                   MRP list
    Planning mode           3                   Delete and recreate planning data
    Scheduling              2                   Lead Time Scheduling and Capacity Planni
    Even schedule line and other parameters maintained properly, MRP creates planned order and does not creates Schedule Line automatically. Material Master is maintained MRP Type PD, Lot Size as Replenishment to maximum stock level, Safety stock, No strategy and availability on.
    What I am doing wrong? With same setting in other system it is working perfectly fine.
    Any feedback appreciated.
    Thanks
    PP

    Hi
    Check whether the Agreement Open Target value .
    If the target quantity was completed . so system will not create the Schedule lines for the material
    2. If you mainatian the open period in the smk.
    so system will create the planned order instead of schedule agreement. check

    Thanks Levi,
    I slightly modified your script to recatalog the backup pieces since they are note stored at the same location in PR and QA.
    No luck. The error message is different but the result is the same... it keeps failing.

  • How can I transfer my notes from an iTunes backup to iCloud?

    I dropped my iPhone in water and now the screen won't work. I need some of my notes, but I couldn't back them up to iCloud before because I didn't have enough space. I recently deleted my iCloud backup so I could back up my phone at some later time but didn't get around to it. I was able to connect my iPhone to iTunes and back it up that way, but I have not been able to get that data to iCloud.

    If the notes are now restored to your phone from your backup, you can only get them to iCloud by opening each note and copying and pasting the text into new notes created in the iCloud account.

  • Can I create a full backup on google drive by moving my user folders to Google Drive Folder?

    Can I create a full backup on google drive? Google suggested I simply move my folders (Pictures, Music, Downloads, Documents, etc) into the google drive folder. But these seem to be automated files involved with Mac's organization... will this create problems for my computer? Ie. if I import new photos, or download music, will my computer know where to put it if its in google drive?
    If this is a problem, how else could I possibly create a full backup of personal data on google drive (or any similar syncing service, for that matter).  iCloud is prohibitively expensive, and programs like crash plan and carbonate run so slowly and bog down my computer so much that they are not worth it. Google drive seems simplest and most competitive in price, but I am worried about moving my folders.
    Help?

    Google Drive also installs a client--a google drive folder on my hard drive that is programmed to sync changes automatically to the cloud--that allows me to drag and drop.  I suppose my original concern was about dragging files from my hard drive (such as "pictures" that would contain my iPhoto library, etc) into it.  Would that mess up Mac's internal organizational system? If I drag and drop my pictures folder, music folder, etc. into the google drive client folder in Finder, will those applications still function correctly?  Will my mac still be able to figure out where to put photos I import from my camera, etc?
    I am only as tech savvy as I have to be to survive professionally as a traveling teacher, so I am looking for something pretty straightforward that will free up some of my brain waves for other activities, rather than remembering which folders I have made changes in and need to sync.

  • I tried creating a startup backup via Disk Utility.  There wasn't enough space and now I have no internal disk space. How do I fix this?

    I used DIsk Utility to create a startup backup clone for the first time yesterday.  I cloned it to my internal drive on my Mac.  I let it run all night and when I woke up this morning it showed it as failed (not enough disk space).  Now when I boot up my Mac, it showed a warning at the login screen (not enough disk space at startup).  I do not have an external hard drive (which is why I chose to backup internally).  Do I need to purchase one?
    It still allows me to log in.  When I open Finder and look at my internal drive, it shows less than 100.00 MB space available.  I tried deleting a bunch of old files and stripped needless apps.  However, it keeps showing my computer as having less than 100 MB of storage.
    Is there a way to find the failed clone backup and delete it?  I tried looking in Spotlight for the backup clone (I named it 4-21-14.dmg).  I cannot find the file.  I was hoping to backup my files so I can install OS Mavericks on my computer (mid-2010 Macbook Pro), but I do not have enough free space.

    I solved the problem by deleting over 100 gb of files and apps.  I would have rather not gone that route, but having less than 100 MB of storage is an unacceptable headache to deal with.  Now I have to decide on whether to try again with the backup internally route or risk it and download/install Mavericks.

  • RMAN-05556: not all datafiles have backups that can be recovered to SCN

    Oracle 11.2.0.2 SE-One
    Oracle Linux 5.6 x86-64
    Weekly refresh of a test db from prod, using rman DUPLICATE DATABASE, failed with “RMAN-05556: not all datafiles have backups that can be recovered to SCN”
    Background Summary:
    Weekly inc 0 backup of production starts on Sunday at 0100, normally completes around 1050.  Includes backups of archivelogs
    Another backup of just archivelogs runs on Sunday at 1200, normally completes NLT 1201.
    On the test server, the refresh job starts on Sunday at 1325.  In the past this script used a set until time \"to_date('`date +%Y-%m-%d` 11:55:00','YYYY-MM-DD hh24:mi:ss')\"; -- hard-coded for ‘today at 11:55’.
    For a variety of reasons I decided to replace this semi-hard coding of the UNTIL with a value determined by querying the rman catalog, getting the completion time of the inc 0 backup.  This tested out just fine in my vbox lab, even when I deliberately drove some updates and log switches during the period the backup was running.  But the first time to go live I got the above reported error.
    Details:
    The key part of the inc 0 backup is this (run from a shell script)
    export BACKUP_LOC=/u01/backup/dbprod
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/rman target=/ catalog rman/***@rmcat<<EOF
    configure backup optimization on;
    configure default device type to disk;
    configure retention policy to recovery window of 2 days;
    crosscheck backup;
    crosscheck archivelog all;
    delete noprompt force obsolete;
    delete noprompt force expired backup;
    delete noprompt force expired archivelog all;
    configure controlfile autobackup on;
    configure controlfile autobackup format for device type disk to '$BACKUP_LOC/%d_%F_ctl.backup';
    CONFIGURE CHANNEL DEVICE TYPE DISK FORMAT   '$BACKUP_LOC/%U.rman' MAXPIECESIZE 4096 M;
    sql "alter system archive log current";
    show all;
    backup as compressed backupset archivelog all delete all input format "$BACKUP_LOC/%U.alog";
    backup as compressed backupset incremental level 0 database tag tag_dbprod;
    sql "alter system archive log current";
    backup as compressed backupset archivelog all delete all input format "$BACKUP_LOC/%U.alog";
    list recoverable backup;
    EOF
    The archivelog-only backup (runs at noon) looks like this:
    export BACKUP_LOC=/u01/backup/dbprod
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/rman target=/ catalog rman/***@rmcat<<EOF
    configure backup optimization on;
    configure default device type to disk;
    configure retention policy to recovery window of 2 days;
    crosscheck backup;
    crosscheck archivelog all;
    delete noprompt force obsolete;
    delete noprompt force expired backup;
    delete noprompt force expired archivelog all;
    configure controlfile autobackup on;
    configure controlfile autobackup format for device type disk to '$BACKUP_LOC/%d_%F_ctl.backup';
    CONFIGURE CHANNEL DEVICE TYPE DISK FORMAT   '$BACKUP_LOC/%U.rman' MAXPIECESIZE 4096 M;
    sql "alter system archive log current";
    show all;
    backup as compressed backupset archivelog all delete all input format "$BACKUP_LOC/%U.alog";
    list recoverable backup;
    EOF
    And the original refresh looked like this:
    >> a step to ftp the backups from the prod server to the test server, and some other housekeeping  <<, then
    cd /backup/dbtest
    echo "connect catalog rman/***@rmcat" >  /backup/dbtest/dbtest_refresh.rman
    echo "connect target sys/*******@dbprod" >> /backup/dbtest/dbtest_refresh.rman
    echo "connect auxiliary /"             >> /backup/dbtest/dbtest_refresh.rman
    echo "run {"                           >> /backup/dbtest/dbtest_refresh.rman
    echo "set until time \"to_date('`date +%Y-%m-%d` 11:55:00','YYYY-MM-DD hh24:mi:ss')\";"  >> /backup/dbtest/dbtest_refresh.rman
    echo "duplicate target database to DBTEST;"  >> /backup/dbtest/dbtest_refresh.rman
    echo "}" >> /backup/dbtest/dbtest_refresh.rman
    So, my mod to the refresh was
    bkup_point=`sqlplus -s rman/***@rmcat <<EOF1
    set echo off verify off feedback off head off pages 0 trimsp on
    select to_char(max(completion_time),'yyyy-mm-dd hh24:mi:ss')
    from rc_backup_set_details
    where db_name='DBPROD'
    and backup_type='D'
    and incremental_level=0
    exit
    EOF1`
    cd /backup/dbtest
    echo "connect catalog rman/***@rmcat"     > /backup/dbtest/dbtest_refresh.rman
    echo "connect target sys/*******@dbprod"    >> /backup/dbtest/dbtest_refresh.rman
    echo "connect auxiliary /"                >> /backup/dbtest/dbtest_refresh.rman
    echo "run {"                              >> /backup/dbtest/dbtest_refresh.rman
    echo "set until time \"to_date('${bkup_point}','YYYY-MM-DD hh24:mi:ss')\";"  >> /backup/dbtest/dbtest_refresh.rman
    echo "duplicate target database to DBTEST;" >> /backup/dbtest/dbtest_refresh.rman
    echo "}"                                  >> /backup/dbtest/dbtest_refresh.rman
    Now the fun begins.
    First, an echo in the refresh script confirmed the ‘bkup_point’:

    Investigation of the ftp portion of the refresh script confirmed that all backup pieces were copied from the prod server.
    So what am I overlooking?  Having reverted back to the original script to get the refresh completed,

    So, technically, you only need the database and archivelogs backed up by the database script and not the noon run of the archivelog backup.
    backup as compressed backupset archivelog all delete all input format "$BACKUP_LOC/%U.alog";
    backup as compressed backupset incremental level 0 database tag tag_dbprod;
    sql "alter system archive log current";
    backup as compressed backupset archivelog all delete all input format "$BACKUP_LOC/%U.alog";
    Yet, why does backupset 5 of the noon archivelog backup show archivelogs from 10:30 to 10:40  if they had been deleted by the database backup script which has a delete input ?  It is as if the database backup script did NOT delete the archivelogs and the noon run was the one to backup the archivelogs (again ?)
    No, that is from the morning full backup.  Note the 'Completion Time" of 25-Aug-2013 10:54:53
    However, the error message seems to point to a datafile.  Why would reverting the recovery point to 11:55 make a difference, I wonder.
    As do I.
    Also puzzling to me are the times associated with the completion of the backups.  I don't recall ever having to scrutinize a backup listing this closely so I'm sure it's just a matter of filling in some gaps in my understanding, but I noticed this.  The backup report (list backup;) shows this for the inc 0 backup:

    I hope this posts in a readable, understandable manner.  I really struggeled with the 'enhanced editor', which I normally use.  When I pasted in blocks from the rman report, it kept trying to make some sort of table structure out of it .... guess I'll have to follow that up with a question in the Community forum ....

  • Create Full HD Backup to encrypted bootable external drive

    I have used SuperDuper to copy my internal HD to a bootable external drive configured with a 300 GB partition. Now I want to go one step further by creating that same backup but this time I want my external data to be encrypted for added security. I do not care if the OS and Applications files are encrypted as long as I can encrypt my home folder.
    1) Does SuperDuper have an encryption feature?
    If yes, how do you activate it?
    2) If not, can I accomplish what I want using a Macbook Pro utility e.g. Disk Utility and perhaps
    turn on FileVault?
    3) Can I simply just turn on FileVault encryption and use Finder to drag my internal HD to external?
    If yes, will my external drive now be bootable still?
    Thanks in advance.

    Turn on Filevault, then use SuperDuper.

  • DPM 2012 Install Fails, The Database was not Created ID 811

    Hi.
    I've tried installing DPM on a Standalone Server (SQL + DPM), and get the "Database was not Created" error. I initially tried DPM 2012 R2, and found that there is an issue with Disjoint Namespaces, so went to DPM 2012 SP1, but still getting
    the same error.
    The Install Account has full access rights (sysadmin) to the DPM SQL Instance, however cannot seem to get it right. The account using to do the install has full Enterprise admin, Domain Admin, Backup Operators & Administrators rights.
    When opeining SQL Managemet studio, I can see the database has been created but the setup fails and requires me to revert.Here is the last few lines of the Install Log File, please help I always mark as answer.

    You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.
    You can restore from a backup if you have one from BEFORE you set the restrictions passcode.
