Not deleting images from Sony DSC-W120

iPhoto imports pictures from the camera just fine, but does not delete them from the memory stick, even when told to delete originals?
Ideas? Camera side perhaps?
It works fine with an older Sony Cybershot dsc-s600.

Keith is absolutely right. There have been too many reports of incomplete uploads and complete deletions. It's not the camera but the situation, low battery, connection or power interruption, etc. that might trigger such a disaster. IMO it's just not worth the risk.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

    Cannot open camera RAW images from Sony DSC-RX100M3 camera.  Working on a Mac with Photoshop CS5 and Camera Raw 6.7?

    Bruce,
    When I made the transition to digital some 8 years ago, I had tremendous help from a number of well documented websites, among which:
    http://www.luminous-landscape.com
    I think a lot of stuff there to get you seriously going. Another one is:
    http://www.computer-darkroom.com
    I sold all my film based stuff, except a Nikon F3 and a handful of lenses and a Paterson developing tank.
    The Nikon suspiciously smells like foam mirror damping strips chemically decaying.
    I sold my enlarger over the internet. The word "enlarger" caused me to be on SpamCops blacklist for a while.
    I'm in this since the seventies, and I think you'll be as amazed as I was at the possibilities and control you have. And no more bags with $300 worth of film that's consumed in one shoot.
    Jump in both feet! you won't be sorry. And these forums are the best help you can get.
    Good luck,
    Rob

    Breezley,
    OnLocation CS3 used Direct Draw to create the video window.  In Vista, you may have noticed that OnLocation CS3 would disable 'Aero' themed desktops as they did not support Direct Draw.  Windows 7 does not have this functionality, so you must disable the Aero theme manually to see the video in OnLocation CS3.
    To do this, right click on open desktop and choose Personalize.
    This will display available Themes.
    Scroll down to the 'Basic and High Contrast Themes'.
    Choose any one of the basic or high contrast themes.
    Restart OnLocation CS3.
    This should bring your video back into view.

  • Transferring images from Sony DSC-F828

    Hi
    I'd like to buy the iPod 5G. I'm just not sure yet about 1 thing. I'd like to use it to transfer my images from my Sony DSC-F828 when I'm on the move. I've seen that compactibility list, quit short list I would say. There are a few Sony cameras on it, but not mines of course. I saw that some people have a camera that isn't on the list and they say it works perfectly. Can somebody tell me if my camera would work on it.
    I'm also planning to buy a canon EOS 400D or even higher. Does anyone have any experience with it and the iPod.
    If there is no compatibility, is there another way to transfer images to it.
    Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Photos not deleting images from mac

    Hi All,
    OK, so the issue is that I have taken some photos on my iPhone and these have synced to my Mac and iPad using iCloud Photo Library as expected.  However I then deleted these photos from iCloud Photo Library using my iPhone and they can no longer been seen in the iCloud Photo Library, or in Recently Deleted (as this has been emptied).  However they are still on my Mac's local hard drive.  If I try to import them on my Mac I get a message asking if I would like to import the duplicate photo(s), but I cannot find them anywhere in the library.
    Does anyone have any idea what I can do to get rid of these images from my Mac?
    Cheers
    Graham..

    They may be filed away in a Moment with an incorrect date - have you tried the search field to search for a part of the filename?
    You already tried to repair the Photos Library, right?
    Then it may be a problem of corrupted preferences files:
    The Photos.app stores the preference settings in a file in your hidden User Library.  If this file has become corrupted, you can see all kinds of problems with the graphical user interface - missing menu items, invisible photos, etc.
    To remove this file, do the following.
    Quit Photos, if it is running.
    Reveal your user library and delete this folder:  ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.Photos/
    To reveal the hidden User Library:
    Bring the Finder forward by clicking on the Desktop or the Finder icon in the Dock.
    Select your user/home folder (with the house icon in the Finder sidebar)
    With that Finder window as the front window, press the key combination ⌘J to bring up the View options.
    In the View options panel enable ’Show Library Folder’. That will make your user library folder visible in your Home folder.
    Open your Home folder, then the Library folder, then Containers.
    Move the complete folder com.apple.Photos to your desktop. Move the entire folder, not just the contents.

  • Aperture is not deleting images from 'camera'

    I eject the CF card from my camera and put in a USB reader and plug it into the USB cable (from back of iMac to female). Aperture dutifully imports the images into my library then asks if I want to delete the files and eject. I click on that option and it asks again if I'm sure. I click on delete and eject.
    Then Aperture ejects the CF without deleting the files.
    Is there something I'm doing wrong?
    Any advise?

    Sometimes the FAT table becomes corrupt and the card needs a reformat. If you just delete files from the card, a hidden problem may jump out and bite you when you least want it.
    It's always preferable to reformat in-camera than to delete files using computer software.

  • Open Camera Raw Images From Sony DSC-RX100II in PE12

    No joy.  Please help.

    What version of the Camera Raw plug-in do you have in PSE12?  Use Help / About Plug-in / Camera Raw in the PSE Editor to find out.
    According to this list of supported cameras, you need at least ACR 8.2 for the RX100 II:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
    Using Help / Updates in the PSE Editor is the usual way to update to the latest ACR; however, the most current ACR is only compatible with newer OSes, so another question is what operating system do you have on your computer that is running PSE12?

  • How can i delete images from iPhoto?

    I can not delete images from iphoto. When I try to move pictures to the trash they do not move, and if I try to delete them by pressing "right click> Trash" they do not move! pretty much the only way I can delete pictures from iphoto is to delete the library.
    Can anyone help me? I'm about to permanently delete iphoto from my macbook pro.
    it is nerve-wracking!

    Where are you trying to move these photos from?  The following are the key combinations for moving from different entities in the library:
    Deleting Photos from an iPhoto Library:
    1 - from the Event or Photos mode: select the photo(s) and use the Delete key to move the photos to the trash bin. Then empty the iPhoto Trash bin as follows:
    2 - from an album, smart album, book, slideshow, card, etc: select the photo(s) and use the key combination of Command+Option+Delete to move the photos to the trash bin.  Then empty the trash bin as above.
    If none of the above work try this:  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and check to see if the same problem persists. If the problem persists in the new library make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
    1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
    2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
    Click to view full size
    3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
    NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
    NOTE 2: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

  • How to delete images from folder which are not in the database

    I am created windows form
    i wont to delete images from the folder where i have stored images but i only want to delete those images which are not in the data base.
    i don't know how it is possible . i have written some code
    private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
    string connectionString = "Data Source";
    conn = new SqlConnection(connectionString);
    DataTable dt = new DataTable();
    cmd.Connection = conn;
    cmd.CommandText = "select * from tbl_pro";
    conn.Open();
    SqlDataAdapter da = new SqlDataAdapter(cmd);
    da.Fill(dt);
    int count = Convert.ToInt32( dt.Rows.Count);
    string[] image1 = new string[count];
    for (int i = 0; i < count; i++)
    image1[i] = dt.Rows[i]["Image1"].ToString();
    string[] image2 = new string[count];
    for (int i = 0; i < count; i++)
    image2[i] = dt.Rows[i]["Image2"].ToString();
    var arr = image1.Union(image2).ToArray();
    string[] arrays;
    String dirPath = "G:\\Proj\\";
    arrays = Directory.GetFiles(dirPath, "*", SearchOption.AllDirectories).Select(x => Path.GetFileName(x)).ToArray();
    int b= arrays.Count();
    for (int j = 1; j <= b; j++)
    if (arrays[j].ToString() != arr[j].ToString())
    var del = arrays[j].ToString();
    else
    foreach (var value in del) // ERROR DEL IS NOT IN THE CURRENT CONTEXT
    string filePath = "G:\\Projects\\Images\\"+value;
    File.Delete(filePath);
    here error coming "DEL IS NOT IN THE CURRENT CONTEXT"
    I have to change anything .Will It work alright?
    pls help me
    Sms

    Hi Fresherss,
    Your del is Local Variable, it can't be accessed out of the if statement. you need to declare it as global variable like below. And if you want to collect the string, you could use the List to collect, not a string.  the string will be split to chars
    one by one.
    List<string> del=new List<string>();
    for (int j = 1; j <= b; j++)
    if (arrays[j].ToString() != arr[j].ToString())
    del.Add(arrays[j].ToString());
    else
    foreach (var value in del)
    string filePath = "G:\\Projects\\Images\\" + value;
    File.Delete(filePath);
    If you have any other concern regarding this issue, please feel free to let me know.

  • Iphoto 7.1.1 slow to import from sony dsc-w80

    Anyone experience similar issues when importing pictures from sony dsc-w80 into iphoto? Sometimes it just spins and spins and spins. Is there any way to fix this?

    Yes, same problem here. I have a Sony DSC T50 that worked fine on IPhoto 6 and Tiger. Upgraded to Leopard and iPhoto 7.1.1 and it's unusable with a Sony DSC Camera and my PPC Mac. Takes 30 seconds per image to import. Takes forever to read the 900 images on the camera.
    Since the DSC worked fine with earlier versions of Apple OS and software, I have to blame Apple and not Sony for this problem.
    If you are having the problem too, please use the Send Feedback menu in iPhoto to report the bug to Apple.

  • Download and play .MTS (HD pix from Sony DSC-TX10)in my i-Mac

    Hi everyone!
    I got stuck with this one.
    Is there any apple app I can use to dowload HD (.MTS files from Sony DSC-TX10) so as to be able to visualize them on my i-Mac?
    Many thanks!
    Daniel

    ddominguezp, if you want to also edit the .mts videos you may need to 're-wrap' the raw .mts files to get back all the folders and other files that would have been on the memory card when you first recorded your HD video clips. A lot people attempt to pull the video clips out of all the folders surround them and that causes problems for iMovie. iMovie by itself will not recognize the .mts files but needs all the pieces that would have originally come with the .mts file to work. I'm providing a link below to a discussion started by Karsten Schlüter that covers all the bases trying to get a .mts file back into iMovie. What you are trying to do in the end is 're-wrap' the .mts files with all the folders and files that are now missing.

  • How do i delete images from camera after importing

    how do i delete images from camera, ipad, iphone after importing the files into aperture3?

    Image capture will allow you to delete from the device after import, but I believe it is by design that Aperture does not do this as it is recommended (in the case of a camera) to use a device's own delete function rather than a 3rd party like Aperture. This also allows time for a proper backup before everything is erased from the device?

  • IPhoto preferences - delete images from camera after upload???

    Is there a preference setting in iPhoto 6 to delete images from my camera's card after upload? Can't find it...

    Hi, buzzworms. Yes, it's there — but don't use it.
    Too many users of iPhoto have selected that option and then had an import go awry for some reason, only to discover afterward that even though the pictures weren't successfully imported, the card was erased and the pictures were gone.
    Much better to leave that option deselected, so the contents of your card aren't changed by your Mac whether or not they've been imported successfully. It's free insurance against the loss of your pictures. Erasing the card in your camera only takes a moment after you've confirmed that the pictures are safely stored in iPhoto's library.

  • Download images from Sony NEx 7 to lightroom

    Anyone familiar with downloading raw images from Sony NEX 7 to lightroom.

    This is the list of currently supported cameras
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5371?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
    The Nex5-R is not on the List and so that Raw format is not supported at this time.
    Note: The Raw from every model of camera is different. Note: that's every model not every brand. So, the NEF produced by a Nikon D40 is not the same as the NEF produced by a D60, the CR2 produced by a Canon 350 is not the same as the CR2 produced by a Canon 400.
    Therefore the Raw for every camera model needs to be added individually. If yours is not supported then let them know you want it:

  • Deleting Images from Photostream

    How do you delete images from Photostream?? Can you??
    Thanks
    Sky

    Seems from what I've read even the reset option in icloud.com doens't actually delete anything.  another forum mentioned that what it would do is this:
    Let's say you have an iPad with photostream off.  and with your iPhone photostream on, you take a picture, it uploads to the cloud.  Then if you do a reset to the cloud, then turn on your iPad, that photo you took on your phone won't download to the iPad.  So it's not like the photo really is ever deleted on the cloud (until 30 days). It's more like it's resetting the old versus the new with devices that enable the cloud.
    Another tip I saw was if you turn off wifi, then your photos won't auto upload to the photostream so gives you a chance to review before they go up so to speak.  I think someone put it best that it's not intended to store your photos forever.  It's intended to allow multiple devices to get to one photo and save it off.
    my 2 cents!
