I'm afraid I don't understand what you want. Adobe Reader is for viewing PDF files. When we say "ebooks" we usually mean files in the EPUB or Kindle format. Are you talking about reading a PDF file?

  • Mac Digital Editions not Downloading eBooks through Safari

I recently had problem with Adobe Digital Editions not downloading files from the MyMediaMall library website. It had worked initially, but developed a fault probably to do with Safari. I could download limited titles from the Adobe sample book web page but nothing from the library's site. To fix the problem it was necessary to remove Digital Editions from my computer and reinstall it. To remove digital Editions completely it is necessary to do the following.
To completely delete Adobe Digital Editions from an iMac with Snow Leopard OS 10 locate delete the following folders and files:
    1. Under, /Documents/Digital Editions, drag the Digital Editions folder to the trash
    2. Locate, /Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash Player/www.macromedia.com/bin/digitaleditions. Drag the digitaleditions1x5 folder to the Trash. Empty the Trash.
    3. Open the "Keychain" utility located in Applications/Utilities. In the left hand column under category click Passwords. Locate and click "Digital Editions" in the main window. Right click this file and click delete.
    4. With these files and folders deleted download and reinstall the Adobe Digital Editions software. It will be necessary to go through the authorization process again.
I hope this will save another Mac/Safari user some trouble in the future.

  • I can not download ebooks from local library onto ADE and my NOOK

After having updated windows to 8.1 suddenly I could not download books from library. Message came up with Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer? If I tap Yes it says set up has detected an existing version of ADE. Would you like to repair existing installation? Tap Yes.Tick box to agree to licence agreement. Goes through and closes but when I then try again it says that application can not be found.
I have tried uninstalling ADE, upgrading to ADE 4.0 but nothing helps. Any ideas of what I could do? Thankful for any clues.

    Hi,
Regarding your problem follow the instructions as given below.
    Solution 1)
                        1) Plugin your Reader to your computer.
                        5) There you will find a new drive created similar to C or D drive under My computer.
                        6) Open the Readers Drive and you will find a folder with name adobe.digital.editions.
                        7) Delete this folder and plug off and re plug in the Reader.
                        8) Authorize Reader.
    Solution 2)
        Click Start>>Run
Type "regedit" in the box and hit enter.
        Locate the following key HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Software>Adobe>Adept
Right click on it and select Delete.
Now connect your Reader and launch Digital Editions.
I hope this will help you

  • Digital Editions 1.7.1 does not download eBooks (ebx.etd)

I'm trying to use Adobe 1.7.1 to download an eBook but it's trying to download the ebx.etd. After a bit of research I found out that the latest version of Adobe Digital Editions no longer support the ebx.etd The only support Adobe gives is "go see the vendor".
According to Adobe, version 1.7.1 is not backwards compatible when purchasing eBooks. A bit strange in this industry to not be backwards compatible. Imagine Microsoft getting away with bringin out a new version of Word that would not open stuff from a previous version. What would you do with all of the old documents? Crazy!!!! The world would go into kaos and everyone would stop buying their product. Whilst i'm not a big fan of Microsoft, I can at least  feel comfortable that they wouldn't do that. I wouldn't recommend to anyone to install version 1.7.1.
Does anyone out there know where I can download Adobe Digital Edition version 1.6? At least this used to let me open eBooks.

Even if you were to install an earlier version of ADE (which would complain about being out of date) or Adobe Reader 7, then you would not be activate it for handling .etd file, because we have also shut down that server.
For the past 2 years, we have been telling all of the Content Server 3 operators that cared to listen that we would shutting down those servers, and removing the capability to fulfill .etd files from our software. We were very clear that if they wanted to continue using Adobe DRM they needed to updgrade to Content Server 4.
I would suggest that you talk to the vendor about getting a refund as there is no way for you to fulfill that .etd file to get the book you wanted, and they should have known that before selling it to you.

  • Adobe digital editions will not finish downloading ebook  even after double clicking on hard drive .

ADE will not download and open the ebook automatially. After locating the .ascm (ebook) file on the hard drive and double clicking on that, it still will not open in ADE.

I did all that and after I close the ADE and double click on the file, ADE opens right up and it looks like it is downloading (very fast), but nothing shows up in the ADE.
How do I only get emails from you and not all the other people on the discussion?

Right click on the ACSM file or option click and go to Open With and select Other.  You can then navigate to your Adobe Digital Editions and set the file to open with that. I would then recommend closing Digital Editions, if you have it open, and try double clicking the file.  If Adobe Digital Editions opens then the file association is still correct.  If you continue to have difficulties then I would recommend contacting the vendor you obtained the e-book from.

I installed ADE and when I try to download ebook it tries to open with Adobe reader and does not give option to open with ADE

It sounds as if you downloaded Adobe Acrobat Pro. If you did, uninstall it. Then repair Adobe Reader.
The free Acrobat account has no connection to any of this.

  • I have bought and ipad first generation and i would like to put my ebooks on how can I do this please the Ibook app will not download on this ipad

I have bought a apple ipad 1st generation and I would like to put my ebooks on how would I do this the ibook app will not download on this ipad many thanks for any help offered

Try downloading the current version of the iBooks app on your computer's iTunes so that the app is in your purchase history. Then on your iPad go to the Purchased tab in the App Store app and see if you can download an older compatible version of it.
If the ebooks aren't ibooks, then unless they are digital-rights-management free epubs then you probably won't be able to add them to your computer's iTunes library (File > Add To Library) and sync them to your iPad - in they do have DRM on them then does the store that you got them from have their own app in your computer's iTunes ? If they then you could try the above and see if they have an iOS 5 compatible version available.

  • ADE does not open when trying to download ebook

I have tried everything I know to try. I have used ADE for years and have not had any problems downloading ebooks from the library, until recently. I had downloaded the trial version of Adobe Photoshop CC and decided not to purchase the version at the end of the trial. I uninstalled the program and I think I mistakenly deleted some other files that may have been associated with ADE. Now, when I try to download an ebook from the library, it tries to open the file in Overdrive. I have gone to default programs to try to change the default program for ascm files, but ADE won't ever show up in the box...even though I browse for it and click on it...I was actually successful with getting one ebook in ADE, but I can't seem to make it happen again Any help that can be provided would be greatly appreciated. I even tried downloading version 3.0 but it still doesn't work.

  • Cannot download ebooks from public library. error "copy not authorized". not recognizing adobe account

Trouble downloading ebooks from public library. Have done it many times recent problem. Error "copy not allowed". Suspect that Nook is not recognizing the adobe account.

I've been downloading books from the New York Public Library to my PC and then I move the book into ADE and from ADE to my Nook without any problems.  I've also been able to return the books from ADE to the library although I have yet to learn how to delete them Nook.  You may want to recertify your computer for the ADE by selecting Library on the ADE b ar and moving down to "authorize computer"and click "finish" I also do that when I have the Nook connected and select device and once it has been confirmed as authorized I copy the book to the Nook.  I hope this helps.

  • I can not download Adobe digital in my ipad

I Want ti reader ebook but its not possibile without adobe digital edition but i can not download it Why.

    You're mixing up apps.
Adobe Reader for iPad ONLY reads PDF files. It does not read EPUB files. Adobe Digital Editions is NOT available for download on an iPad.
You should use Apple iBooks reader to read EPUB files (eBooks)

  • How to download ebooks form the Apple iBooks Store without wifi?

    Hello!
I have an iPad but my current Internet network is not wireless. This means I can not just download eBooks from the Apple iBooks Store into my iPad through the iBooks Apps. How can I access the iBooks store to download eBooks on my laptop, which I will then transfer to my iPad? It is possible from other stores to just download the book on the laptop in ePub and then drag it onto iTunes to read it on the iPad, but I can't find how to do the same with the Apple iBooks Store.
    Thank you for your help!

Good question. I am unsure about this, though. Being as iBooks is solely an app within the app store, thus transferred to your device via the app store or iTunes. I opened iTunes, went to the store and could not find a tab for the bookstore. Perhaps in the future Apple will implement this. For now, I think you can only get there via the iBooks app on the iPad/iPhone/iPod. You can buy wireless routers at fairly reasonable these days. Maybe your cable/satellite provider has a wireless option for you? Most do these days. Is the laptop wireless ready?
