Not Enough Disk Space In Target Folder PLEASE HELP!

I've produced a project with 10 menus and 21 tracks totaling 3.1 gigs and I can not burn it. Each time I get the remark "Not Enough Disk Space In Target Folder." I have 8.8 gigs on my internal harddrive and various externals.
PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP. I fear I will seriously threaten my job if I can't get this done tomorrow.

Hi
Select just Build and check the destination location and set a drive with enough space. Then you can burn using that build.
I have 8.8 gigs on my internal harddrive and various externals.
How big is that drive?
Hope that helps !

Sharing to DVD I get the following alert " There was an error burning your disc.  Not enough Disk Space in Target Folder"  I have 700GB   free.  Where is this target folder located?  How can I fix this problem? This is definitely not a space problem.
Since starting with FCP X, there has been tons of issues, now that the product actually works with the exception above, makes it impossible to share the production.  Has Apple fixed this problem.  is there a knowledge base article on this?
On another note, One reason I have not purchased support on FCP X is because you sold a product that never worked for almost an entire year or more.   Now I can finally finish my project,  I cannot share it.....Really.  This has to be fixed now, I am loosing money as I typed this.

Just curious, why would repairing permissions, rebooting ( rebooted 2 times already today) or creating a new user possibly fix this.
I cannot create a new user, that is way too much work.  I will repair permissions again,  I repaired permissions just a few days ago. Then I will reboot, login and turn off App Nap and rerun the Share DVD.
There must be something seriously wrong with the OS if your are suggesting creating another user.   WOW!

  • Not enough disk space in target folder?

I am trying to burn a 3.7GB project on a dvd that holds 4.7 GB. The log says there's not enough disk space in the target folder. I've never had this problem before - what's going on and how do I fix it?
    PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

not enough disk space in the target folder.
This refers to the hard disk where DVD SP does the build. 'The target' is usually set to a folder called something like 'DVDStudioProDisc' somewhere on your main internal hard-drive. You need to have at least (say) 5GB free space on your working drive for the build. How much disk space do you have left?
BTW it is possible to change the build drive & folder location in settings.

Thanks.  Unfortunately, I need to make a master DVD that can then be duplicated in bulk as a single layer disc.  This surprises me because I tried burning a different DVD project that has worked in the past which is also 4.5 GB and now I could not burn that either.  I also reencoded some material to get the new project down to 4.4 GB but it still would not burn.  Any ideas are appreciated.

  • Not enough disk space for event folder

    Hello
So, i've been facing this problem for quite a while now (3 hours of constant raging ;D)
Something went wrong with FCP X and I lost my entire project (which is not the point)
I cleared everything from FCP X to start over again (all the event files, projects,...). Now that I am trying to get every file back in my event folder (via import files, it's about 41gigs of files) it says that I haven't got enough disk space. But I do, I have 830gigs of free space on my internal HD.
I have no idea what the problem is or how to solve it.
    Your ideas are very welcome
    Thanks beforehand, a young editor.

First tried it without removing them from the trash (if that is what you mean). then emptied the trash and tried it again.
and yes I have there is currently 862,13 GB available

  • Encore 1.5 Transcoding could not start not enough disk space

    Dear all,
I have a relative new raid 0 with four Hitachi (HDS721075KLA330) disks. At the moment I've got 2794.54 GB capacity (quite enough) and 1825.83 GB of free space. When finishing a Encore 1.5 project for making a DVD folder there is the error message: "Transcoding could not start there is not enough disk space available. 0 is available on E:\, 237.55 is required. Please free up disk space." Also messages during saving: "No disk space".
The weird thing is I've hadn't had this error before using the same raid disks, but since a few days I am stuck.
My OS is Windows CP Professional (SP2), 2 GB RAM, Radeon X1650 video card, Matrox RT.X100 video editing card. Thanks for your help.
    Hans Hermans

If I remember correctly, this is a bug caused by the sheer size of your target array. In the olden days when 1.5 was the released version, Terabyte drives were uncommon, and the package could not actually see it as this large, and will throw this error.
The workaround was to partition the target array into smaller sizes (less than 1 Terabyte) and you should be able to return back to normal.

  • Project/Library will not relink due to "not enough disk space"

I have a large library/project that was copied from one drive to another so I could take it to a different site/computer. When I open the project, I need to re-link the footage. FCP finds and verifies all the footage, but when I select "re-link", I get the following error: "There is not enough disk space available at the selected destination. Please choose another one or clear some space."
I've checked the project properties and they appear to be looking at the right event. The library and all the footage is on a huge drive with almost a terabyte free.
I'm not sure why I should even need additional space just to re-link to existing footage.
Thanks in advance for any guidance in this matter.

You should do this from inside FCP. Only copy libraries from one drive to another in the Finder if you're using managed media, which it doesn't sound as if you are. I'm kind of guessing a little here because I'm not clear on exactly what you did for the media.
In FCP make a new library on the drive you want to copy to. Select the project and in the inspector assign a location for the media, either managed media or external media in a folder. I like to use managed media for this, because I can always consolidate the media into a separate folder very quickly. Once you've made the new library, inside FCP copy the contents of one library into the new library. When that's done confirm that the media has been copied to the correct location. If necessary run the consolidate function to make sure all the media is correctly located.

  • Not enough disk space for asset ecoding

    Hi all,
I have a dvdsp project with:
    a feature: 3.3 gb
    dvd extra: 289
    menu assets: 65mb
and shows that it is 3.8 mb all together, but when i try to build/format it stops the build at the menu and gives the error message: Not enough disk space for asset encoding. I was running a test build when this happened. i have yet to add the audio for the extra thinking i still had some room on here to work with.
I have burned dvd's up 4.5 without any issues. any ideas why this is happening?
    thanks,
    Mark

I'm having the same problem. Except I have tried to switch locations for the Current Build and each time it says Not enough disk space for asset encoding. I have a 500GB raid with almost 400GB free and then another 500GB raid with about 130GB free. I really need help on this pronto!
Another message it now brings up after it starts Encoding Assets: Insufficient disk space for encoding. Please free up disk space on your encoding target drive. Please Help!!

  • Windows Easy Transfer, not enough disk space

I am trying to transfer my files and settings from old WinXP to new Win7 PC, using Windows 7 Easy Transfer. I am using the network transfer option on my home network. The wizard is pretty straightforward and all went well until I clicked Transfer. I got
an error message that said not enough disk space. (It did not say which PC.) The transfer size is 32 GB, but I have 550 GB available on Win7. The XP PC has only 10 GB free, but why should that matter?
And yes, the Win7 PC is marked as the "new" computer.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

    Hi,
May I know how many drives you transferred?
Windows Easy Transfer maps the old computer drives to the new computer drives while transferring data. In other words, information on each drive on your old computer
will be transferred to the respective drives on your new computer. Therefore, if the size on the other partition doesn't have enough disk space then we come across the error: "Not enough hard drive space available"
I recommend the following two suggestions.
    1. Click on Advanced when transferring files from the old computer and select the only files and settings that you want to transfer, if other partitions are selected
make sure to uncheck them if it’s not required for you to transfer.
    2. Try to transfer one partition data at a time and check.
Once the transfer process is successful or failure, you can anytime view Windows Easy Transfer Reports to know the details about the transfer.

  • There is not enough disk space to download new messages. How can I backup my old emails onto my hard drive to create room for new message?

When trying to download new email messages I receive an error "There is not enough disk space to download new messages. Try deleting old mail, emptying the Trash folder, and compacting your mail folders, and then try again." I have emptied my trash, removed all the junk, deleted about 1gig worth of email and im still having problems.
I have a ton of folders that I store all of my emails in, so that I can easily find older emails. This email has been working fine for me for about the pass 5-6 years and now I have problems. I would like to be able to back up my emails onto my hard drive so that I have them on hand. What is the best way to go about this? Because of my file structure I am not able to see all of my messages on one screen. Is there a way to select emails from a certain year?
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

''Try deleting old mail, emptying the Trash folder, and'' '''compacting your mail folders'''
If you did not compact the folders after marking the messages for deletion, you have not deleted anything.

thanks for your suggestion.  that is the same advice that i got from the geek squad at the local apple store.
i did what he instructed but it did not work.  i have since called apple support twice regarding the problem.  they had me start the computer in safe mode, going into the library and deleting a phlist file (i think) do a repair disk permissions, do a repair disk, empty the cache, and finally the last guy told me to unplug the computer from the wall socket and restart.
when i mentioned the advice you and the apple store guy gave me they sort of poo pooed it saying that was done when they did all this other stuff.
i am now waiting for the download to be completed to see if unplugging the computer had any effect.
thanks again for your kindness in answering my concern.

  • Not enough disk space to restore from time capsule

I have a macbook pro, and I think time capsule backed up any eternal drive attached to it.
The macbook would not boot/? mark, so I repaired/verified disk, got to time capsule and retore, but there is not enough disk space on the macbook to repair (again as I think time capsule backed up external drive which I don't need backed up).
Is there a way to enter time capsule from the macbook, and "check" something to not restore back onto the macbook, the external drive.
    Thank you
    jonathan golab

    You will have to open the Time Machine HDD and find the file where the external HDD information resides and delete it.  Note for which date you delete the file and use that date for the restore.  Review this extract from the Pondini website;
    http://pondini.org/TM/12.html
When you enter the Time Machine HDD, you can open the folder like this example.  Probably the best date to choose is the latest one.
    Ciao.

  • Not enough disk space on imovie?

i have imovie from the ilife '09 package. i make a lot of videos and upload them to youtube all of the time, but just recently i went to upload a 50 second video to youtube and it said "The operation could not be completed because there is not enough disk space. Try again after making more disk space available." This has never happened to be before, so my first instinct was to delete a few videos i don't need to "free up space", but it didn't help and imovie still won't let me upload to youtube! I don't exactly know how much space i have left (i don't know where to look to find how much space i have left either) but i don't really have many videos and such on imovie either. so i don't really know what the problem is! i need all the help i can get! please help!!

  • Not enough disk space message occurs by installation or CD/DVD burning

    Hi,
When i want to install a game or burn a movie then i will get the message that there is not enough disk space which is not true because the disk space on my laptop is about 55 Gb and on my external hard drive i have still about 95 GB left.
Why do i have this problem and what is the solution?
    Greets

As far as I know some burning applications uses a temporary data folder to copy the files form the CD on the HDD and after successful burning procedure this files will be deleted.
Mostly such temporary data folder is placed on system partition C.
I assume you have partitioned you HDD and the space on the C is not enough.
    Change it.
