Not Enough Free Storage???

I have 1.76 GB Free on my iPhone 5 but whenever I try to sync, I get a message saying it can't be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all fo the selected items (additional 1.18 GB required). How do I fix this issue so I can sync my phone? I have already update the phone to the latest update, so that's not the issue. Also wanted to note that I backup my stuff to my computer - not the cloud....

Hello ShrimpyMCB,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help in this situation. It contains helpful advice concerning capacity issues:

  • Blu-ray Error: "not enough fre storage". Code:"25", Note "Not enough space on media"

    I have a project a  Encore CS6 V6.0.1.013 for MAC.
I tryng export do Blu-ray Disc, but ireceved this error message
Blu-ray Error: "not enough fre storage". Code:"25", Note "Not enough space on media"
But at "Disc Info" i have 14.71mb free

My longer notes on this error:
The most common workaround for this is to build to a folder and burn with ImgBurn (for PC) or toast (for Mac).
Searches show that there has not been success in many situations. I do not believe that it is one problem.
I have generally believed that the error refers to temporary storage on the hard drive. And users underestimate the amount of temporary hard disk drive space used. For bluray it is about twice the disk or more.
Some users experience this error when they are creating dual layer BD disks, and a layer is more than 25G. Each video/layer must fit on one side.
And some users successfully burn their disk by re-encoding to a lower bitrate (a 25G BD disk does not hold 25G). Encore uses padding to predict the size on disk (e.g. add 10% to the amount of space it predicts that build will use), and it can be wrong.
Always good to "run as administrator, though I don't know that ever fixed this issue if someone wasn't.
For CS4 there was a required update for a Roxio component. I believed this was a temporary problem due to the combination of Win7 and Encore CS4, but users on newer OS and Encore have reported resolution of problems after installing the patch.

  • Not enough free storage space for ios update

My wife's iPad Air MD786LL/A with 32GB. Running iOS 8.0.2. I bought it for her last year for her birthday to replace her old iPad. She won't give up the old iPad. I keep her iPad Air up to date from time-to-time but when I tried to update the iOS, it said there was not enough free storage space (requires 2.4GB and the iPad Air only has 1.8GB). She also has a MacBook Air running Yosemite and an iPhone 4S on iOS 8.2. The old iPad runs iOS 7 and won't do the multi-device sync with MBA and iPhone (which is why I was trying move her to the  more modern iOS). I need to free up some space on iPad Air.
    Songs: 278
    Videos: 40
    Photos: 7,695
    Apps: 50
I note that Settings>General>About does not list Books in the list of things on the iPad Air. Why is this?
    Everything syncs to iCloud.
Q: can I delete photos on the iPad Air without removing them from her MacBook Air or iPhone?
I note that the iCloud Photos is still Beta. When I went to turn that on, it said that the 7,695 photos would be removed from the other devices. I did not proceed.
Q: How does one move a book back to the cloud after it has been read? This should free up space.

  • Blu-ray Error: "not enough free storage" - even though 800MB are free

I'm trying to burn a Blu-Ray, about 2h20min worth of VBR 2pass HD video exported therough Premier 5.5 via the "Queue" (Media Encoder). Using the Blu-ray mpeg preset with the target bitrate slightly reduced.
Anyway, point is that Disc Info in the Build tab says 24.18 GB used, 818.9 MB free, yet when I go to burn I get "Blu-ray Error: 'not enough free storage', Code '25', Note: 'Not enough disc space.'" I've had problems with dual layer DVDs in the past, but I have successfully burned blu-ray before (but with not as much content). So I tried doing my workaround for DLs, which is burning to a  folder with the intention of going through ImgBurn.  But when I try to do a Blu-ray folder I get 'Blu-ray Error: 'device not ready,' Code '3', Note: "File can not open.(F:\Encore Projects\Geprges and Julie Bluray\AuthorScriptHDMVSessions\Gerpges Julie export 1 bluray 2pass high.m2v.00_28_02_22.9.2011_UTC_04_00DST.ves.)- "
("Georges and Julie" is name of my file and project.)
Any ideas? For the record, yes I am running as administrator.

Well, this is a bug that has been running since, I think, CS5 and is still there in CS5.5
This error code 25 would come when you burn to the Blu-ray Image and not with Folder and Disc.
And regarding the error code 3 that came while burning to folder, this is because sometimes with multiple burning attempts of the same project causes the session files of the project go corrupt. So FIRST TAKE A BACK UP OF YOUR PROJECT (save as your project to some other place to retain a copy of it) and then clsoe the project and delete all the session files from the project folder. Delete the session files and Not the Sesson folder.
Reopen the project and build. This should work.

  • Not Enough Free Storage - Encore CS6

I've been making DVD images and Blu-ray images fine for months. Suddenly I get this error message: Blu-ray Error: "Not enough free storage", Code "25", Note: "Not enough hard drive space". I have 350 GB of free space on my system drive and 45 GB of free space on my data drive. What's up?

I have 45 GB of free space on my data drive.
Is that where your project, media and cache files are located?  If so, then this post from an Encore engineer may be relevant:
You can apply the 6.0.2 patch that is available (if you have not done so) because the patch has a fix around this issue.
There is a lot of space requirements for the dual layer BD project. Here is the list of almost all the things that would need space:
First the asset's indexed files would need space. For audio files, there might be conforming happening that again would need space.
Then when yoy build the project, the assets will be transcoded (if already not or they are not Don't Transcode). This would take a considerable amount of space as the transcoded assets are complete footage which would be huge.
Then while creating a image file, First all the files (muxed video streams) would be copied on the disc in a folder (generally named BDMV) and then at the final step, they would be copied from the BDMV folder to the iso file and finally the BDMV folder would get deleted. So this step would need almost double the size of your project. IF your project is say 35 GB, then this step alone would take more than 70GB.
So the space requirement for a 35 GB (Disc Info) project might go to almost 100 GB.
But again there is some bug in size estimation for Motion menus and slideshows. Encore says that they will occupy lesser space but actually they are going to occupy more space. So if your project has motion menus or slideshow, then the estimation might be incorrect. So if it showing 35 GB (for example) and your project has motion menu or slideshow, then actually it might be 37GB or more or anything greater than 35GB depending on the slideshow and motion menu duration in the project.
NB: His comments apply to single-layer BD projects as well.  The topic in which he answered asked specifically about dual-layer BD.

  • Blu-ray Error: "not enough free storage", Code: "25", Note: "Not enough space on media

Okay, I have been able to get around issues on making a number of BR images. But, this one makes no sense.
This is a 2 hour project.  I get the above error when it hits the end of the building discimage at 31.82 of 31.82.
The media choice is 50 gig.  My c drive has 250 gig free.  My project disc has 300 gig free.  My audio files are a few frames smaller
than the video. (Which had caused me issues in the past)
About the only thing different in this project is I have 6 slide shows.
Not sure what else to try.

    MAYBE SIMILAR PROBLEM ?
I might suffer from another consequence of (this) bug - I have experienced a very strange situation in EnNCORE CS5 - preparing three individual episodes as three individual Blu-ray images (around 8GB each) - combining these into a single Blu-ray  (50GB) media - the resulting image turns out to be around 33GB - 35% larger than the sum of the three individual episode disks - please refer to the table below:
    Episode   Transcoded(KB)      Estim.(GB)      Result(KB)
    1                       7.850.387     9,16               8.240.064
    2                       7.776.599     9,08               8.163.648
    3                       7.808.916     9,23               8.300.928
    Artihmetic sum 23.435.902     27,47             24.704.640
    ENCORE         23.435.902     27,40             33.305.300
What are these eight million KB used for ??? 8.600.660
All four disks were produced as IMAGES - source files transcoded by the H.264 Blu-ray preset in the Media Encoder - and all four Blu-rays without any menu-structure - plain "firstplay" setup. It seems to me that ENCORE adds up some huge amount of "garbage" - however the 33GB image did play OK.

5GB is typically not enough space to download a movie.  Often, movies take from 3 - 5 GB to begin with.  The only option you have is to delete more things from your iPad.  You can remove unused Apps, pictures, music, text message (messages with pictures can take up a lot of space), email messages, books, magazines etc.

  • WBAdmin BMR backup says "There is not enough free space on the backup storage location to back up the data."

We're doing nightly BMR backups of a small 2012 R2 Hyper-V host via wbadmin to 2TB USB disks, via
wbadmin start backup -backupTarget:z: -quiet -noverify -vssFull -include:e:,c: -allCritical
(where E: contains the sole VM).
We are using the same backup system on other similar Hyper-V hosts running 2008 R2 and 2012, with no problems. However, with this 2012 R2 host, after a few months of no problems the backups started failing with:
There is not enough free space on the backup storage location to back up the data.
This made no sense, and continues to make no sense:
The 2TB backup disks are only half full (>1TB free), with 600GB of unallocated shadowstorage.
There should be room for many more backups on these disks. Each currently contains 11 to 13 backups, with the initial full backup having required about 600GB and each subsequent backup only requiring another 20GB to 40GB.
There is over 40GB free on the C: drive and 300GB free on the E: drive; free space on the host volumes is not an issue.
Increasing the shadowstorage limit on the backup disks to unbounded doesn't resolve the issue.
This is not a problem of a RECOVERY partition that's too small, and SystemState backups always complete successfully.
The first workaround we found was to temporarily reduce (not increase) the shadowstorage allocation on the E: drive (containing the VM) and then increase it back (with the end result of deleting old shadow copies).
This worked reliably, but looking for a root cause led us to uninstall the Windows Updates installed mid-September (in particular the Aug 2014 and Sep 2014 roll-ups), which preceded the start of this problem. But instead of resolving the problem the uninstalls
made it worse, in that our workaround stopped working.
We reinstalled the Windows Updates, and then tried setting backup performance to normal, in case the problem was related to VSS on the host volumes, but the errors continued.
At this point the only way we've found to work around the error is to delete 1 or 2 of the oldest backups on the destination disk, via
      wbadmin delete backup -backupTarget:z: -deleteOldest
after which the new backup will succeed.
But, again, this makes no sense, as the destination disks are only half full, and even if space was an issue wbadmin should delete old backups as required. And this same system is working fine on 2008 R2 and 2012.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    John

    Hi John,
Please check run the command below to check if the space required to complete the backup causes the snapshot storage space to become less than 1/8 of the target size.
vssadmin list shadows /for=x: will list the shadow copies on x: and creation time.
WSB will not shrink the diff area to less than 1/8 of Target volume size as we do not want to lose all past backups just to accommodate this one.

I really need help because my ipod mini isnt working correctly my mom just gave it to me and The iPod “TAMI DUGARD’s iPod” cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the selected items (additional 146.5 MB required). it says this. Over and over when i try to sync it too my itunes what does this mean and its a 4gb

It means you try to sync an amount of content to your iPod Mini that exceeds for 4 GB, or the amount of space that is available on the iPod.  See this article for more details.

  • TS1702 When I try to reload The Sims FreePlay (sister deleted accidentally) from Apps Store I keep getting an error message "There is not enough avaiable storage to download "The Sims FreePlay". I check my settings and I do have enough available storage.

When i try to reload The Sims FreePlay (sister accidentally deleted) from App Store I keep getting error message. There is not enough available storage on my device but there actually is enought storage. Not sure why I cannot get App to reload. I have synced to my computer. Help!

To download/install an app directly to the iPod you need available storage equal to about three times the file download size. Syncing the app to the iPod requires a lot less. Thus you either have to free up more storage or sync the app from your computer.

  • Cannot copy export_full: not enough server storage is available to process

    Hello everyone!
We are mounting a 3node RAC on Windows 2003 x64.
The source database is 81741 on Windows 2000.
When we try to copy the dump file - around 56GB - it fails after some time with error:
"Cannot copy export_full: not enough server storage is available to process this command".
Some important details: destination drive is OCFS and has more than sufficient space.
Both 4 servers are in the same network, in the same building.
We copy this same dump file every night to a backup server, what makes us think the problem is in the OCFS drive.

We copy this same dump file every night to a backup server, what makes us think the problem is in the OCFS drive.Yes. Free space reported on a ocfs volume does not imply that all that space is usable. Part of the problem is how the ocfs file system has been configured (the defaults may not suffice for a large file system, or a file system that will contain many files).
A while back we had a similar problem and that was addressed in changing the ocfs defaults used for creating the file system. Suggest that you read up on ocfs2 block and cluster sizes and rethink the configuration of that ocfs volume (unfortunately one has to re-create the file system to apply block and cluster size changes). Details are in the [OCFS2 User Guide|http://oss.oracle.com/projects/ocfs2/dist/documentation/ocfs2_users_guide.pdf].

Why am I being told that my iPad cannot be backed up because there is not enough iCloud storage available when I have 18.1GB of storage available in my iCloud account?

You shouldn't be, but you would have to contact Apple support to find out what the issue is: http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact/.  If you are outside of your free support window there would normally be a charge for the call but under the circumstances you could plead your case that you should not be charged.

If you haven't changed your sync preferences, meaning that you are not trying to add more content from the last time that you synced with iTunes, try quitting iTunes, restart your computer and then try again.
If you are trying to add more content to the iPad than what you had before, you can only use so much of the available storage capacity that is left on the device. You probably need to leave about 10% of the space free so if you have a 16GB iPad, you might not have enough space left to sync that content that you are trying to sync.
