Not enough memory to finish iDVD

I have a 19 GB iMovie I am trying to burn to a DVD. I need 6GB of memory to complete the burn and have ditched everything I wish to off my hard drive to come up with 4 GB left. I tried burning it and of course it didn't work. So I bought a 60GB external hardrive (SimpleTech) and hooked it up and began copying my iMovie file onto it. It gets anywhere from 1/3 to 3/4 of the way done and just stops. I left it going all night and it didn't finish copying to the new hardrive.
At this point I am getting frustrated. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I would suggest that you pose the question in the iDVD Forum.
Not many people with G3 iBooks are trying to burn DVD's, so not many people who post in this forum know very much about it.
Someone in the iDVD Forum should be able to help, though.
Good luck.
P.S. You should keep at least 5 GB of hard drive space free at all times, anyway, just for OS X 10.4.8 to run smoothly.

  • Saving raw in jpeg not enough memory (in Camera raw)

Hello I am using Camera raw with following config:
    AMD Athlon II x2 245 processor 2.90 GHz RAM:4,00 Go 32 bits
I know that it is not enough especially in Ram but I am not alone in this case. So very often I have to close Camera raw because I have got the message not enough memory to continue jpeg conversion (especially on photo with heavy modification :noise etc). It is also because I am saving in JPEG and using at the same time Camera raw to continue my work, some time to time I have 3 or 4 jpeg conversions at the same time. So I found a solution which gives a little bit better results:
I process all my photos with camera raw without saving in Jpeg . When my work is finished I reload each photos with camera raw and immediately without waiting I save it in Jpeg than I close camera raw and reload a new photo and so on. In that case I have less problèms. My suggestion would be or may be it is already possible : saving the the modified raw photo in jpeg directly from bridge without loading them in camera raw and if possible in batch process. a similar system would be good also for lightroom. Thanks for your comments

  • Elements 9 Error when creating panorama -  could not fill because there is not enough memory (RAM)

I have elements 9. I am making a panorama using about 10 images. Each time i click in the box to fill in the edges ( content aware fill) i get the error:  could not fill because there is not enough memory (RAM).
This is not possible, as i have a machine with 8gb of RAM, and i can clearly see that less than 5GB is utilized.
I tried converting the individual images to jpeg as this is considerably smaller than RAW but i get the same error.
In Photoshop preferences i have set the memory to the max amount it allows ( 3255mb in my case). why will it not let me assign more RAM to it?
I got PSE 9 for content aware fill as i do a lot of panoramas, and if this does not work, its been a waste of 100 euros.

Yes, this is very common. You can either up the amount of ram available to PSE in the editor preferences, or just let PSE finish the pano with unfilled edges. There is an action available in the forums at elementsvillage.com that will turn on the same kind of content aware patching that's in Photoshop and you can use that after leaving the pano creation feature.
EDIT I see you've already upped the memory. PSE is a 32 bit program and there's a limit to how much ram such programs can see.

  • AEGP Plugin MediaIO Plugin:MediaIO2 error:0x4 not enough memory to complete this encoding (5027::12)

I am working on a video project in After Effects CS4 (with Trapcode Particular preset) that's 2:12 minutes long on a Windows 7 operating
system. I'm finished editing for the most part, but everytime I put the video in Render Queue it renders the video for a few seconds (sometimes minutes) and then stops with this message appearing: "After Effects logged one error: AEGP Plugin Media IO Plugin: MediaIO2 error: 0x4 not enough memory to complete this encoding (5027::12)". After I closed this message I checked the part of the video that did render was where I saved it to be as a normal file on my Desktop. I made this video with 2 compositions: 1 for the actual importing and editing and the 2nd for the rendering and thinning it out (this is because when I import the footage from my camera it's always very wide in after effects) There is nothing particularly abnormal about the video, not very heavy or anything and most of it isn't animated, just film. The size of the source material for the video is about 4.0 to 8.7MB.
    Computer's Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU  T5500 @ 1.66GHz
    Computer's RAM: 2.00

First of all, CS4 does not work well with non-production codecs like MP4. Use the Adobe Media Encoder (or something similar) to convert your footage to a production codec (Cineform, DNxHD, Quicktime with the Photo JPEG codec or Quicktime with the PNG codec).
Second, you're running AE on a system with only 2 GB of RAM? Good heavens, man - no wonder it ran out of memory! Upgrade that to 4 if at all possible. (Upgrade to much more than that if you have a 64-bit OS and plan to upgrade AE ever. Although, on a machine as old and slow as that, you might be better off getting a new machine if you want to do anything serious in AE.)
Third, what's your exact version number of AE? You should be on 9.0.2 if I recall correctly.
Fourth, your video shouldn't be looking weird in AE. It's probably misinterpreting the pixel aspect ratio of your footage. Fix the interpretation and you shouldn't have to have a separate comp for changing its size.

  • Flash CS3 says"Error creating Flash movie...not enough memory available."have 100GB of virtual mem

With large .fla files I often can't get Flash to output .swf files.  Usually I get the message "Error creating Flash movie.  There was not enough memory available."  Sometimes though Flash looks as if it has finished publishing (although slightly too quickly to have really done it), and then there has not been a .swf file created.
Sometimes it's simply a matter of restarting Flash and trying again a few times until Flash decides to cooperate.  But now I have a file that just seems like it will never output.   My computer has 3 GB of RAM and 100 GB of virtual memory.  The .fla file is 152 MG and the .swf would probably be about 20-25 MB.
If there is a workaround in CS3, that would be great.  If not, I would upgrade to CS5, if I knew that it would not have the same problem.
I was told by at least two people at Adobe support that the problem has gone away with CS5, but I downloaded the CS5 trial version, and it will not output a .swf of my project.  In this case it doesn't give the error message, but just fails silently.

Has this memory limitation been fixed in CS4 or CS5?  I have to say, I'm geting really fed up with having to
spend hours coaxing Flash to output .swfs.  Is there a reason that it can't use the
3MB of Ram available to it?

  • N81 8gb Not enough memory available

Hello, today I installed n-gage first access >_
using Nseries pc suite, and choose memory card (8gb) as place for install
    then I did this:
"7. Start the N-Gage application on your device by clicking the N-Gage icon in the Applications Folder.
    8. Now you are ready to install the games. Double-click the N-Gage game file (the .n-gage file) on your PC, and follow the on-screen instructions.
    9. The on-screen instructions will remind you to have the N-Gage application installed, and prompt you to finish the installation on your device.
    10. With the N-Gage application running, install the games to your device's mass memory or memory card."
So why this on-screen INSTRUCTIONS dont suggest to choose a place for install and games didn't install.
"NOTE: If you encounter the error "Application can not be installed to the device. Not enough memory available." during PC Suite installation, this means you do not have enough free device memory to begin with. Please free up enough device memory to proceed"
Before this actions I have more than 10 megabytes of free phone memory, now I have only 8Mb, and there is nothing in my folders of phone memory. I lost 2Mb. AND HOW I CAN FREE PHONE MEMORY?
    N81 8GB

I had a few problems installing the games myself, so here's how I solved that:
    1. Run PC Suite
    2. Choose the application installer
    3. Make sure you've selected your memory card from the right list and not the phone's internal memory, then select and install a game
    4. Once installed, run the phone's built-in file explorer (I think you'll find it under Tools)
    5. Go to your memory card and look inside the n-gage directory
    6. The install file for the game which you just transfered should be there - execute it

  • TS3274 iPad 2 cannot be synced. There is not enough memory available....but 40Gb available!!

iPad 2 cannot be synced. There is not enough memory available....but 40Gb available!!.
I just finished copying my CD collection across to iTunes, sunced and all was fine.  I then changed some of the track names and it came up with this message. Help?

    just67 wrote:
Now taking into account that the body of the message also shows I had just synced the device with no problem and the only changes made thereafter were to the titles of a few songs, you can't be serious in telling me that it suddenly used 40Gb ?! ....or are you?
No .... But that should be a clue that changing the titles of the songs corrupted something .... Doesn't that make sense?
You also said that you "tried the troubleshooting stuff". So what does that leave to try?  The "non troubleshooting stuff"?
Did you try unsyncing all of the music and then try syncing it again? Or don't sync the songs that you changed the titles of and see if the message is still there.
If the sync is successful, slowly add those changed titled songs back to the iPad and when you get the message again, you might be able to assume that one of those songs is corrupt.

  • Illustrator CS3 - "Not enough memory to place the file."  Help!!!???

I have a new machine running XP Pro 64.  Intel i7 processor, 12 gb ram.
I am trying to place a fairly small Photoshop image (with layers) into Illustrator CS3.  I have done this countless times with XP 32 bit os.
But now, I cannot place even a small Photoshop image into Illustrator... I keep getting the error "Not enough memory to place the file."
I tried the suggestion of 'right-clicking' the Illy launch icon and going to properties/compatibility and then selecting "Run this program in compatibility mode for..."  and then I check marked Windows XP.
Someone else said this worked in Vista 64.....but it DID NOT work for XP 64.....dang it.
    Any suggestions???
    Thanks

Talk about flame bait -- You trying to start the platform wars again? ;-D
Can anyone tell me if they can place a Photoshop image from WINDOWS 7 64 bit OS into Illustrator without issue?  We're talking 'PLACE' .... not paste.
Don't know about Windoze 7; but that operation works in Vista x64. XP x64 is
quite flaky at times. It was never finished IMHO.
Sure would like to know.  I'd upgrade if it made the difference.

  • System 7.1 "not enough memory to open program"

Yes, I know this is not the corect place but it was the closest I could get.
I have a Macintosh LC II running System 7.1.
The machine has been working fine and I have not done anything new/installed.
I attepmted to open "Making The Grade" when I get an error "There is not enough memory to open "Making The Grade 8.0g" (2,250K Needed, 2,113K available)"
It has never done this before, When I go look at my "About This Macintosh" I see that I have 4,096K total and the Largest unused block: 2,107K. I have removed other programs and removed files from my machine and nothing helps.
So, my question would be what other Software/settings could I use/try to help with this issue.
Should I use the "Virtual Memory" setting and let it use disk space? I have 52M available on the drive.
I havealready turned my Cache size down to 32K, hoping to free up space. But still the same issue.
Also, if I do use the Virtual memory will this have a negative affect on anything else?
Message was edited by: How_weird, Added more information.

    Hi, How -
    Welcome to Apple's Discussions.
The issue probably stems from the fact that in order to open (run) a program, it needs sufficient contiguous memory be available for it to use, not just sufficient memory. A program can not use non-contiguous chunks of memory.
That is why "About This Macintosh" reports the largest unused block (a 'block' is a contiguous chunk) available, rather than the raw total of unused memory.
Often after opening some smaller programs the RAM will become fragmented. Quitting some of those apps may free up a lot of total memory, but not enough in a contiguous chunk for the needs of a large program.
Restarting the machine clears all RAM, which is why Niel suggested doing that. After the machine has finished restarting, all memory not then in use will effectively be contiguous and available for that program. If you have any programs set to be opened (run) automatically at startup, you may wish to disable that for the duration of your need for the larger program.
More info about fragmentation of memory (RAM) here -
Article #TA21681 - Minimizing Memory Fragmentation
I know this is not the corect place but it was the closest I could get.
It's not highly obvious. On the Discussions mainpage, scroll down until you can see and click the link named "Older software products". On the Category page to which that link takes you, you will find a link for OS 7 and earlier OS's -

  • Why does my Mac keep telling me that there is not enough memory when I need to open Excel?

I have Excel installed on my iMac.
I only use this rarely, mostly when I have grants to write for my students.
When I try to open Excel, to look at an old document, I get the message that there is not enough memory, even though my Mac right now has 74 GB available.
I really, really, really need to access these files, so am hoping for an answer to this puzzle!
    Thanks so much!!!

OK, so here's what I did.
First time, I reinstalled Office: 2008.  It must have sent the first one to the trash, because there were 9200+files in the trash once it was finished.  It looked for updates but didn't tell me that it needed any, so I tried to access Excel again, but got the same error message.
So, then I dragged the whole Microsoft Office 2008 to the trash (it is still sitting there----question about this, too).  I reinstalled the whole thing again, but this time, it identified 3 updates that also needed to be installed.  I did that, and now, I am able to open Excel!
Now my question about the trash:  if I empty the trash, am I going to lose all the files (especially worried about all the Word documents) that I had used the original one for, or, are all those documents, and the Excel files, still  there after the trash with the original Office 2008 is emptied; I wasn't able to only drag Excel to the trash so had to drag the whole thing.
Am thinking that somehow those updates were never applied, which is very puzzling, because the first time I reinstalled, it didn't say anything about needing updates, but the second time, it did.
    Thank you!

  • A FIX for error message: When I try to open Snood (it's a game) I get this message.  Not enough memory {Error # :: 0, in sound.cp@line 101  Can you help?

After years of playing Snood, w/o problems, I started getting this error message, on my iMac, OS 10.5.8,
with 4 GB of memory when opening Snood:  Not enough memory {Error # :: 0, in sound.cp@line 101
My MacBook Pro w. Mac OS 10.6.8 did not have this problem.
Initially I thought that Snood raised its minimum requirement to Mac OS 10.6.
I had several correspondences with Snood. Their tech support is great. Quick and thorough responses.
They thought the issue was in Mac's system preferences/ Sound. It was.
I didn't realize that my sound input and output devices were gone.
The fix was resetting the PRAM. I found this advice on MacFixIt.com.
    MacFixIt help with volume:   http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-10415659-263.html
Resetting the PRAM is on Apple support:   http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
My sound (music!) is back, along with Snood. So glad I reset the PRAM before reinstalling the OS software!
Thank you to Snood, MacFixIt and Apple.
    Happy new year all!

    Good work, nice post/tip, thanks!

  • Photoshop cs6 error "Could not complete command because there is not enough memory (RAM)"

Hi, I have a Macbook Pro and the Adobe Creative Suite 6, and all of my other adobe programs run smoothy with the exception of photoshop. For about the past year and a half now, I will very inconsistency receive the error message, "Could not complete ___ command because there is not enough memory (RAM)."  Sometimes this problem gets so bad that I am not even able to open my preferences.
My computer seems as though it should have plenty of space to run photoshop, and I have taken my computer to a number of differed tech supports, but they have only been able to temporarily make the problem less severe for short periods until it acts up again and completely prevents me from using Photoshop. I recently updated to Yosemite and deinstalled/reinstalled photoshop, hoping that would fix things, but I still get the message almost any time I try to complete a command.
Your help would be very much appreciated, thank you!

Hey! Don't knock my system, Trevor.Dennis: Processor speed: 3492 MHz,

3.5Mhz?  Do they even make processors that slow?
I'm trying to think back through Photoshop versions, but IIRC it became hungry for RAM with CS5, but it might even have been CS4.  But certainly from CS5 onwards a 32 bit system was going to be severely compromised with its 3.5Gb RAM limit, of which Photoshop could access only a bit over 2Gb.  You might remember the 4Gb switch that let you use a bit more of your 4Gb of installed RAM.  That worked OK with XP but was still flakey, and third party plugins used to fall over all the time through lack of RAM — at least Photoshop has a Scratch drive.
So nowadays you can forget trying to use Photoshop on 32bit hardware.  You need 64 bit and at least 8Gb RAM.  So like I said, the OP needs to look deeper into the 'apparent' over heating issue, and put that other 4Gb back in.  I can't even conceive of why a person would cripple their system by removing RAM. _Especially_ when it leaves just 4Gb

  • Help Needed REP-1800 Formatter error VGS-1701 Not enough memory

    Hi. Gents
    Help needed
I’m working on a Report, it gets some 2 million records and the report pages are approximately 52,000
It works fine if the pages are lesser then 48,000 or the data is less let say one and half a million, the problem occurs only after 48000 + pages formatted.
Report is generated successfully when trying to go to the last page it throw an error.
    REP-1800 Formatter error
    VGS-1701 Not enough memory
I have already gone through the metalink DOC Id 95505.1 as well as OTN
    But all in vain,
Any comments or help much appreciated.
    Details are:
Reports 6i (Clients/Server) on Windows platform
(Windows XP Professional with SP 2)
Database: Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.5.0
    Computer:
    Pentium(R) 4, CPU 3.00GHz, 1 GB of RAM
    Still 20 GB free space
    Thanks & Regards

I don't see the point in making a report with more than 48,000 pages, I think Al Gore will not be happy when you start printing it...
The problem might be caused by the fact that Reports needs to format all output at once, and then even 1GB of memory will probably be not enough. Formatting all pages at once is needed if you use pagination with displaying total number of pages. If you have this, try to get that out of the report definition and try again.
