Not everyone is having Wifi problems

Just wanted to post this to let potential buyers know that not everyone is having WiFi issues.
I'm not saying there's not a problem, enough people have posted an issue to show that there definitely is an issue for some, but not all.
I've tried it at a few different locations on several different networks (both secured and not) and it's worked flawlessly so far.

Mine works flawlessly also with no issues at all except maybe to
go out and buy a screeen protector.
The only extra advice I see that causes it is playing with the brightness.
This is funny because BRIGHTNESS and the going to sleep features are also
problems on regular laptop computers that use ACPI.... When disabling power saving features on a regular laptop/pc then those issues went away.
The hisotry on this was on toshiba and dell laptops and perhaps others.
But in tthose regard either disabling those features or updating the BIOS fix the issues.

  • Hi, recently my Iphone 4S having wifi problem. I have try to restore it and accidentally get everything clear off. I have also notice that my phone is not USB recognized by my laptop before my wifi gone. Is there any ways to restore my contact?

    Hi,
My Iphone 4S having wifi problem. I also noticed that the USB is not longer recongnized by my laptop anymore.
I tried to upgrade my IOS6 into 7 hopefully it work...
Somehow, all data (contacts, sms, photo and etc) were gone after I did that.
Since my USB and wifi is not function, is there anyway to retrieve my lost contacts?
For Icloud, is the data retrieve via the phone sim? Phone mac ID? Apple ID? or everything?

Did you backup your iPhone 4S before to upgrade? If you did, you may recover your contacts from it.

Or you should use an iPhone recovery software to get your lost contacts back. Please follow the blog's tips to have a try.
For iCloud, it does not retrieve the phone sim data. It can only restore your backup data. And, if you want to find your Apple ID, you should read this:

iPad mini with retina still having wifi problems with iOS 8.0.2 - slow or none. Resetting temporarily fixes problem it very annoying. Please fix Apple! Not up to scratch.

I Have followed these steps, and tried others, such as resetting all my network settings. At best these only temporarily fix the problem - wifi still becomes slow or stops. I have other Apple devices connecting fine to my airport express. why is my iPad mini not working? Is it related to the fact it is 3G and I don't have a sim card installed? It is the current top of the range model with iOS 8.0.2. I paid over the odds for the best, and it is almost completely redundant.  Apple - I'm losing faith. You need to keep the public better informed and fix this problem fast, otherwise I will leave you for good.

  • Having Wifi Problems since Ios 6 (iphone 4)

    Hello all,
Since installing IOS6 (now at 6.0.1.) im having WIFI problems. It is an iphone problem because im tying this on the laptop and my iphone got problems. The problems show themself in the following ways:
    - Cant connect to whatsapp. I see that the iphone is 'thinking' while trying to connect but it wont.
    - Cant keep a signal while using facetime. It keeps disconnecting whilst im trying to call someone trough wifi and when connected i miss parts of text and after it disconnects again.
    - I cant use safari or other apps requiring WIFI/3G.
I did a reset on the iphone, i cleaned the network setting, i turned the iphone off etc etc. Ik kind of did all to prevent or fix the problems.
    What could be it?
What should be my next step?
Im trying another router in a week, but never had any problems before the update to 6...
    Yours Faithfully,
    Fissa.

If you have control of the router you should restart it.  Unplug the power, unplug the ethernet signal in cable, wait a few minutes, plug the power cord back in, plug the ethernet cable back in, wait for your router to stabalize itself (Could take a few minutes.)
I had similar problems with my iPhone 4S when upgrading to iOS 6.0.  Updating further to 6.0.1 seemed to help me.  The other thing I discovered was that I needed to set proxy to Auto.  Before I did this on the wifi net at work I had to really fight with my phone, i.e. all the things you mentioned in your post, just to connect. But when I went to Auto it made a huge difference and I can not auto connect again just by coming within range of the network.

  • Still on 10.6.5 but having wifi problems with Canon MP495

At least I think it is a wifi problem? Love this printer - worked brilliantly since I have had it and not had any issues with it at all once installed properly. However, over the past 3/4 weeks I keep getting communication problems and the wifi button/light flashes during printing and more often than not the printing stops and spits out the paper with only a few lines printed. I then have to pause the printer and resend several times - and I'd be lucky to get a complete print without error 1 out of 5 times. I have not changed position of the printer. The kids laptops with windows 7 did not appear to have this problem until first thing this morning when my daughter needed to print something for school on 'special paper' and guess what - it stopped and spat it out half way through! Any clues as to what to do wold be very much appreciated.

I have moved the printer as the signal was low - 38% and link 36%. It has increased slightly up to 48% but that is on the dining room table now Why would the signal change? It used to communicate without any problems at all - this is very disappointing.
There can be a number of reasons why the change has occurred but the most common is other wireless devices causing interference, and not just from your house. If a neighbour is using a wireless router on the same channel as yours then this can cause interference. A quick fix can sometimes come from turning off the wireless router for a minute and then back on. Many routers will check what wireless channels are being used and select one that is not being used by another router within range. If the router cannot do this automatically then a manual setting of a channel can help.
There are some utilities that can scan your premises for all wireless signals. This can assist with locating an unused channel. The following is an app that I have used for helping friends with wireless issues.
    http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/27740/airradar
Can I confirm that it is actually linking with the pc/mac that sends the print and not the router?
The printer should be linking to the wireless router and the computers should also link to the same router. The printer does not support a direct connection to it from a wireless computer.
I really do not want to have to move the printer every time I/the kids need to use it. I think I'll update to 10.6.6 just to see if that makes a difference and revert soon.
I don't believe the 10.6.6 will resolve this. And you also said that the Win7 computer also had problems so it would suggest there is more of a problem with the connection from the router to the printer.

I upgraded my old IPod Touch 3rd Generation to a 5th Generation yesterday. I've noticed however that for some reason the wi-fi connection on the 5th Generation drops off all of a sudden for no reason at all and I can't figure out why. Anyone else having similar problems? If so what did you do?

Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

  • Is anyone having wifi problems on their iPad after downloading iOS8?

My mother has downloaded iOS8 onto her iPad3 and is now unable to get wifi on it. It keeps asking her for the wireless key but when she inputs it, the wifi icon appears at the top of the screen as usual then just as quickly disappears. Has anyone else experienced this and been able to solve it?

This is great news that everyone's WiFi are having issues after an iOS update!!!
Let me explain, and I hope someone from Apple really really looks and responds to this issue effecting everyone.
I updated my iPad2 to iOS 7.1 a few months back, and then I stopped getting WiFi when I'm more than 10 yards from my router at home.  Tested in multiple WiFi networks, locations (in different countries even), and even went as far as changing the settings or shutting off any other airwave frequency devices at home (like 2.4 GHz handsfree phones, radios, tvs, PS3 wireless controllers, bluetooth signals).  I even had my iPhone4 (iOS6) and iPhone 5S (on iOS7.1.2) as comparison since they have no issues. What I found out was, my iPad2 on iOS7.1 performs weakly on 2.4 GHz signals.  5.0 GHz much better.  I don't mind replacing my old 2.4 GHz only router to one with 2.4 GHz + 5 GHz, but it won't solve the problem when I go to a network in the public (like airports where I frequent).
I went to the Apple Store 4 separate times (in 2 countries), to let them know about the situation.  They could not do a distance test at the Apple store, because they are on the 2.4/5.0 routers. They did a diagnostic twice with the hardware, and everything checked out fine.  So they began advising me to "Reset Network Settings" and even as far as "Reset All Settings"... basically started from a blank iPad2, nothing worked because I'm sure it was a iOS7.1 issue.  I don't think they have 2 different pieces of WiFi receiver on the iPad2, and I am certain it is a software issue.  Makes me think, did they purposely change settings to weaken the receiving of the 2.4 GHz signal?  (That's just a civil lawsuit waiting to happen...)
I downloaded iOS8.0 on to my iPad2 hoping they fixed this WiFi issue that has already been a hot topic in these forums since iOS7, but of course the update failed to correct the problem.  Right now, to me, it sounds more and more like an overlook iOS programming that maybe causing this WiFi issue, since it is also happening to people who upgraded to iOS8 and iOS8.0.1 for many different type of devices (even on brand new iPhone6).  An WiFi only iPad2 that can't receive WiFi is very close to being a brick.  Is not a good feeling bringing your iPad2 to the airport to find out it won't pick up a signal.
I'm no computer expert, but if you can tweak your router to broadcast stronger on one signal via software (b/n/g/ac, or 2.4 vs 5.0 GHz), I'm sure something can be done with the receiver?  Apple, if you are reading this, please do something!!!  This isn't just an iOS8 issue... it has been an issue since iOS7 but no one in the Apple world believes it is an issue.  And now I hope you can see from all these postings about WiFi issue, you have to believe that it may be a software/programming issue. If the software somehow created a hardware/firmware issue, then replace our hardware/firmware please.

  • Iphone 3g having wifi problems - app problem?

    Hi,
I just got given a iphone 3g as a hand me down, and I think im having problems with the wifi, but cant find anything sensible as fix (one video suggested put it in the oven)
when using safari, or internet apps (namely, facebook, kik, igotchat) and probably any other apps that need an internet connection, I get randomly "disconnected" for lack of a better word. on safari it says "no network is available, please connect to wifi" and kik says the same thing.  normally with safari i can just refresh the page a couple of times, and it will work, but when using the instant messenger apps, it just doesnt send or receive my messages, for hours,
the thing is, when all this is going on, i dont actully lose wifi, the signal symbol is there the whole time, I go into settings and my routers name is there, and also igotchat's wifi status always says its good.
So far ive tried changing my wireless channel on the router, and also trying to use it on a diferent internet connection, but the problem still persists (my home network is fine on all other devices)
i understand that im using "legacy" apps, and therefore not on the latest version, but im on the latest that ios 4.2.1 will allow, and im sure app developers/apple wouldnt just have people unable to use their old devices
so what im asking is there any fixes i can try, either with the phone, the router, or the apps, as currently its fairly unusable as an internet device
im pretty new to apple products (except my old ipod video) but im decent with technology so il try anything if it might help even slightly

    Hello monolith,
So, you are still having the disconnection after changing the protocol to G only.  Another tip some folks have used to help clear this up, is to set up a Static address for your phone.  This is something I do at work, so I took the practice home.
Not all routers, will let you reserve addresses for devices, but some do.  If your router is the DHCP for your network, look in the network settings for resevations.
If you can add a reservation, then add the one your phone is already using to see if this elimates the problem, at least on your network.
If you know how to set up a reservation, you can skip this part.
First write down the network settings that are on your phone under the blue > dot.  When you change from DHCP to Static, iOS will clear the settings, so write them down.
Tap on Static and fill in the information you just wrote down for the static address settings.
Now put the phone in airplane mode or turn off WiFi on your phone.
Assuming you can add a reservation to your router, you will need to know you phone's MAC address (Settings>About WiFi address) so you can find it in the address pool.
Your phone's address in the pool should be the same as what you wrote down already and revoke the address from the pool.
Now you can make the new reservation and type in the IP address, the MAC address and a description of your phone, typically.
Save the settings and the router will probably restart the network, so make sure anything already on the network is ready to go offline for a minute or so.
Take your phone off airplane mode and it should join the network.  If it doesn't, confirm the addresses are the same and make sure the MAC address is correct.
If your router can't take a reservation, then the only other suggestion I can make is to aquire an Apple router.  Check around ebay to see if you can't get an old AirPort Extreme Base Station (the ones that look like a space ship) and attach it to your nettwork as a subnet.  I just spotted some on ebay for under $10.  Also if your network is secure, just make sure the subnet is also secure.
If you're unfamilar with Apple routers, you set them up using software from Apple, so if you have a Windows PC you will need to download the AirPort Utility software http://support.apple.com/kb/DL524 and install it on your PC.
Beyond that I'm afraid I can't help, sorry.
    Best of luck,
    UG

  • Not everyone is having maps issues

I know and acknowledge that there are users in some areas being extremely vocal about thier dislike of the new Maps in iOS6. But not all of the users are having problems. I used the new Maps feature last weekend to get to a new bar in Granite City, Illinois that I had never been to before. I had my Garmin running, as well as Maps on my phone.
When I got to the final turn before the destination, the Garmin said to turn Left and that the destination was then 500 feet down the road. This was incorrect.
The Phone told me to turn right and the destination was .2 miles down the road. This was the correct direction to go.
And before anyone askes, yes, my Garmin maps are fully up to date. I even bought the Lifetime updates for it. I just wanted to share a success story to give those users who haven't tried the Maps turn-by-turn yet a little hope. It isn't all doom and gloom. And it will all get better as time goes by. The main thing is, use the report feature when you find an error. That will allow them to work on fixing things. How many GPS's do that?

The reason for a GPS is to get you somewhere.
Yes, and when that "somewhere" is not even on the map, or erroneously located miles from its true location, how does that help?
My home town, according to Apple Maps is located 1.5 miles north of where it should be. A local town 15 miles away (Shakespeare's birthplace) has been completely renamed. Other towns in the Midlands of the UK are located incorrectly. If I asked Apple Maps to take me to Dudley, West Midlands, I would end up 8 miles from where I wanted to be. How can I trust Apple Maps to get me anywhere, if there are so many errors? How do I know which map locations are correct, and which ones aren't? Businesses that closed down years ago are magically back in business again.
And yes, I have reported all of these errors (and more), starting on the very day iOS 6 was released, and a few times since. Not a single one has been corrected yet.
However, we - as users - shouldn't be the ones to correct Apple's mistakes. Apple should've waited to release this Maps "upgrade" until there was the same level of accuracy and trust in the data as people have become accustomed to with Google Maps. Or they should've left us the option to continue using the native Google Maps app while they were improving their data sources.
If the majority of people were having success with Apple Maps, why would Tim Cook publicly apologise for the state of their Maps app and actually recommend people try their competitors maps? Why would they post the link to this open letter on the home page of apple.com? Use your head! Such a prominent and public admission would not be made if most people had no issues.

  • Making a magic iMovie not magical. Having import problems

Everytime I start the import process of "making a magic iMovie", the import process will stop after inconsistent periods of time. Sometimes 5 minutes, sometimes 30 minutes. I've only had one 60 min tape import completely without interruption. I've changed firewire ports, opened Garageband and played a few notes, run mac sweeper. Nothing seems to work. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

I too am experiencing the same problem. I have never been able to import a complete 60 min tape.
Last time I tried I had roughly 20 minutes of footage with no gaps in the timecode and the import process stoppped after 4 minutes with a brief message "No Device Control". The camcorder kept on playing but the import process stopped and iMovie continued to makes titles and add transitions as if there were no more video.
Does anyone know what might corrupt or interrupt the firewire device control?
I'm using a Canon ZR40 camcorder. I have 3 firewire external hard drives daisy chained to one of the firewire ports. Footage is being captured to one of the external drives.
The other port is used to connect the camcorder.

  • Lenovo Yoga 13 WIFI Problem - making sense of the problem

    Hi Lenovo
For the past 3 days i have been doing some research and observations in order to try to make sense of this wifi issue and maybe someone will come up with a solution.
    Lets start
First of all i assume that when this laptop was being developed some form of testing was done before it was released, so the wifi must have worked well within lenovo offices.
Also not everyone is having this issue - some people claim no problems at all, whilst others whathever they try they can't seem to be able to fix it.  Some even send their laptop for repair, other even had it replaced, yet the problem still persisted.
So the problem seems to be related to one factor - the router people are using.
Some people have a router that works well with this laptop, and so have no issue.
Other have a router that is "not compatible" with the wifi card and so no matter how many lenovo yoga 13 machines they have it will still not work.
I also noticed in my situation that when i use my android phone or tablet as wifi hotspot i have no issues, yet when i use my home router its a nightmare.
    Also i noticed that chaging the way how the laptop connects to the router can make a difference;
1, At first i used a fixed IP with alternate configuration - this was horrible (continous disconnection, routers wifi crashing, takes ages to connect)
2, Then i used fixed ip in the general configuration - ths was better, yet still problems (yet disconnections were less, yet still took long to connect and at times router's wifi crashed)
3, Dynamic Ip - this is the best configuration - connects quickly, does not disconnect, yet internet connection slow and at times routers wifi crashes.
So i think its a question of compatablity with the wifi network you are using.
Also based on this i do not think this is a hardware issue - since hardware problems tend to be all or nothing - whilst in this case if one connects to a "compatable" router the connection is good.
So this is a driver issue and thus if lenovo puts some effort in this - it can be fixed - yet this doesn't seem to be the case unfortunately.
What can help from our side if everyone posts the routers and connection settings (e.g. static ip, dynamic ip etc) they are using and stating whether their wifi is working or not.
Maybe we can close down on the problem and find a fix asap.
Let me start with my configuration.
Samsung galaxy s2 and samsung note 10.1 - wifi tetharing - works fine
Belkin Pre-N router with dynamic ip and wpa2 password - problems
    Ken
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I had the same problem.  I came across someon that found a fix.  My Yoga is restoring right now (I tried windows 8.1, it didnt work outwell) so I can't tell you the exact steps but it goes something like this.
    1.) right click my computer
    2.) click properties
    3.) Device Manager
4.) open properties of WiFi device (under network adapter)
    5.) Go to Advance
6.) there is an option to use use either 20_40w or 20w under one of the energy/power related options in this list.
(This is part I can't remember off the top of my head) - Turn to 20w instead of the variable rate.
6.) Change the Bandwith option from 20_40w to 20w.
5.) OK out till your at your desktop (might require Reboot, I dont remember)
That is how I kept my WiFi from destroying my Wireless networking in my house.  I was rebooting my WiFi network hourly before.
