Not filling up screen

on my MBP when I am firefox or safari the window will not go all the way down to the bottom. there is a solid half an inch between the bottom of the internet window and the black trim on the screen. have to maximize and everything but that half an inch just will not go away. (only applications; itunes, pages etc.. fill up the screen just fine)
any ideas fellas??

Thanks for the screenshot. I too have noticed this, however I don't have my dock on "hide" most of the time, so it doesn't bother me too much.
But yes, mine does that too, but I wouldn't call that "a solid half an inch" but more like "a solid 10 pixels" which isn't much compared to the 890 other vertical pixels. on your 1440 x 900 pixel screen.
If you or anyone does know of a way to fix this, please let me know as I'd be interested in a solution too.
UPDATE: I found a way to fix it (kind of)
Move your dock to the left or right of the screen. You can then expand the window all the way vertically, however that 10 pixel gap will now be on the left or right side of the screen. Not a fix, but maybe a possible work around.
Dock on bottom hidden with window "maximized"
Dock on left hidden with window "maximized"

  • Apple TV Apps Not Filling The Screen

When watching ANY app (Netflix, Watch ESPN, etc.) through my Apple TV 3, the video does not fill the screen.  I have about 3 inches on the right and left of my video, even though the videos are in 1080p HD 16:9 aspect.  I understand there are issues of mirroring, but this is happening while watching directly through the Apple TV.  Is there a fix that I am missing?

It is not the TV, I assure you.  It is a feature of the new software update, along with zero connectivity and other issues described in several other posts.
"I have all the same issues.  Not enjoying the new update and hoping for a software solution soon.  Restarting every piece of equipment and changing cables to direct hard wiring doesn't help on my setup, so... Hoping for the best.   In fact, mine all say they can't connect to the internet even though every other device in our household is connected, either wirelessly or via hard wire, without issue.
I can't stream audio or video.  It's awesome.  But, I'm sure Apple will fix it.  It's definitely a software bug to have so many people working fine and then WHAM...
There appear to be many others with the same issue on here.  "

  • When I'm playing music from my laptop on my Apple TV, I'd like to shrink the album on the screen so it's in the bottom corner, not filling the screen.

When I'm playing music from my laptop on my Apple TV2, I'd like to shrink the album on the screen so it's in the bottom corner, not filling the screen.

I don't believe that's possible. It will either fill the screen, or will show a thumbnail when the screensaver is on (disappearing after a few seconds)

  • External display, image not filling entire screen.

I just bought a tv to use as a external monitor for my mac however when i boot into windows 7 the resolution (1080p) is fine but its not filling the screen completely, there is 1 inch of black on the top and bottom and about 1.5 inches of black on the left and right sides. it does not do this when i am booted into osx.
i think this could be because of how hdtv's are made and the resolution isn't exact (usually a little bit greater) so windows isn't "stretching" the image to fill the screen. i think osx does it automatically but windows doesn't. if this is the problem how do i get windows to stretch the image? i tried switching the screen mode on my tv's remote but that didn't work.
thanks for the help everybody and merry christmas!

exactly the same for me. fulla hd tv, no problem tv/mac ->full screen; but with bootcamp/win7 no way, even with the new 9.12 Ati driver...
thnks for help and happy new year

  • TS4085 the image does not fill entire screen of iPad, therefore not the entire TV screen.  Why?

When I try to mirror a video from my iPad to TV using Apple TV, the video does not fill entire screen of iPad nor the entire screen of my TV,  Is there a way to strech the image to fit screen(s)?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
There are two factors in play here. Firstly the iPad screen is 4:3, your TV is 16:9, so when mirroring the mirrored iPad screen is never going to fill the TV screen. If on top of that, whatever you are watching doesn't fill the iPad screen then that too will be reflected in what is seen in the mirrored image.
You cannot stretch this using the Apple TV or iPad controls, but your TV may have a setting you can use. Generally speaking though this will distort the image and you would likely be best leaving it alone.

  • Mobile version of website – not filling the screen

I'm building a mobile version of a website and I want the site to be 221 pixels wide to fit nicely into a mobile device's screen. However, when the site is viewed from a cell phone, it comes up tiny and I have to zoom in to get it to fill the screen.
Anyone know how to make it open zoomed in already?
    Here's a link to the site: http://www.lakesideinn.com/mobi/

This solution works great for iPhone but have noticed that it does not work for PC or Blackberry phones. The code I used to fit the page to the screen was "
    <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width; initial-scale=1.0; maximum-scale=1.0;">"
but it does not work on PC or Blackberry

  • Safari window not filling the screen when launched

I posted this question in the Safari forum and after a week of waiting and numerous bumps, it went unanswered and completely ignored so I thought I'd post it here. Basically what I am trying to do is have the Safari windows automatically fill the screen so that the scroll bar is at the *extreme* right side of the screen, but it always comes just short of that. The reason why this is important is I want to be able to make one quick swipe of my mouse to the right side of the screen and have the cursor end up over the Safari window's scroll bar. But the windows never open up like that, they open up just short of filling the screen so when I move my mouse to the side, it overshoots the scroll bar which is annoying because I have to drag it there manually every time. How do I fix this?

Here is how I want it. Notice the scroll bar with no space to its right.
But here is what it ends up doing. Notice there is now a tiny bit of space to the right of the scroll bar. This tiny space forces me to be careful with the mouse cursor and will not allow me to freely swipe the mouse cursor to the right or it will overshoot the scroll bar. Of course, I can drag the window back to the spot every time I open a new window, but that gets very annoying.

What is the project preset that you have selected for your Premiere Elements 13 project?
If you do not know, please see readings for Edit Menu/Project Settings/General and the readings for Editing Mode,
Timebase, Frame Size, and Pixel Aspect Ration.
What are the properties of your source media? Does your import fill the Edit area screen when imported?
What file size do you want to import to, 1920 x 1080? If so, is that because your export is not filling your player screen?
If you want to set frame size higher than 1920 x 1080, please see Publish+Share/Computer/XAVC-S and the Advanced Button/Video
Tab for customizing the preset. But a lot of details before we get to that.
Including, what is your player and have you looked at the player settings?

  • Apps not filling entire screen!

    Hey,
I am having a problem with OSX 10.6.8 regarding maximized windows. When I maximize a window (like Safari), it fills up the screen as usual, except that it leaves a strip of a few pixels at the bottom of the screen where I can see my wallpaper through the space. This only happens to maximized windows like Safari or Garageband, not fullscreen programs like games and movies.
I hope that made sense. Thank you in advance!
Here is a screen shot that will (hopefully) explain things better. Note that I have changed the wallpaper to a solid bright green so it is easy to see. (click on the picture to see it at a larger size)

    That's perfectly normal.
In fact in most applications, the green maximise button will cause the window to resize to fit the contents; not to fill the screen. That's the way OS X has always been.
For true full screen apps you need Lion.

  • 16:9 aspect ratio not "filling" TV screen

    Hi,
I guess this has been asked before, but after a quick search I couldn't find a reference to this query.
    Q. A movie recorded in 16:9 on dv camera and then edited in iM HD (letterboxed) and then the final edit burnt onto DVD does not fill the TV widescreen.
Is this normal or is there a way of solving this problem, other than using the zoom feature on the TV, of course?
    Thanks,
    TonyT

    Hi Klaus,
Very many thanks for your advice.
This was the first time I'd shot a movie using the 16:9 option on the camcorder.
I've spent ages editing the movie using the wrong settings... is there a way of "converting" this or would I have to re-import and re-edit the whole footage back into iMovie & start over?
    Thanks again,
    Best!!

  • Video image after compressor does not fill the screen

I am trying to convert some videos from DVD to Apple TV. Frame size is 720 x 480. In FCP 5.1.4 when I view the clip in the viewer it looks fine, widescreen with black bars at the top and the bottom, image touching both the right and left edges of the viewer. In the Canvas, however, with Fit to Window selected it shows as a very small box with a lot of black on all sides.
After conversion to mp4, it is even worse. In Quicktime player you can see the video window with grey space at the top and the bottom of the image. However, this is just a very small window in a sea of black. I would guestimate that this window is only using 1/9 of the total screen space.
How can I get the video to fill the screen?

The issue is the AppleTV setting. I've been working this issue for 4 months and can't figure it out.
    SO...
I just encode it myself... I use File - Export - QT Conversion - BROADBAND HIGH and set my size in the OPTIONS button to what I want.
Works great for me. And the AppleTV sees it fine.
