Not "Freezing" - Just Turns Off! Anyone Else?
Only noticed it recently. The unit just goes black and shuts down! Happened once while surfing and a bunch of times when I've gone to use it when it was running the screen saver - just shuts off. I press the power button and it powers back up normally. Called Apple Care and the tech walked me through a bunce of stuff (unplugging, disk and HW checks, etc) and said all was fine!
I switched from Windows systems to get away from problems - this is very discouraging! Any ideas?

Seems you are the latest member of this frustrating issue. I am having the same problems despite doing all the Apple suggestions. It comes and goes and has no direct relation to any particular program or task. It is driving me NUTS!
I've had Apple products for at least twenty years and nothing has happened that couldn't be resolved with a phone call or two.
btw I also installed that SMC fan control and boosted speeds a little.

First go into your system preferences and click energy saver and then click on schedule to make sure it's not scheduled to shut down. If not then close that window, next click on the restore defaults button. If you are not going to be using the computer for more than 8 hours I would shut it down, it not put it to sleep. It's a personal choice on the screen saver issue I personally don't use it, my monitor is set to turn off after 10 minutes.
Note: if you system keeps on shutting down after all of that then run Apple Hardware Test on your system. -
My mac won't recognize an external monitor. The screen Goes Blue Once, then goes blue again and the second monitor just turns off. I am using an HDMI adapter to a visio TV. I also have my xbox on the tv. Can anyone Help??
Lol, figured out the first part. Just for those who may be searching, when you click on the Display Preferences, and click on the arraingment tab... it not only shows where your two screens will be displayed, but the WHITE BAR at the top of one screen is the dock/toolbar. Click and hold to grab this and just slide it over to the screen you'd like it to be on.
You have to release it IN the screen box, not on top of it... and it should pop right over to the new (or old) screen. At any rate, you can put the dock on either (or any) screen that you prefer.
I am thinking of ordering more of these. Lol. 3 monitor setup seems like it would be crazy good.
Still looking for the answer to keeping the new 16" screen on the right without switching between screen #s with that... not expose... Lion feature.

my iphone came up with that timing circle and just turned off and did not come back on ? even when i charge it now it still wont turn on ,do you know the problem?
If the battery was empty (and it may then take 10 to 15 minutes of charging before it will respond), then have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds, after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the equivalent of a reboot.

I have bought iphone 4s on July 12, 2012.in Zurich in offical Apple store (Glattzentrum) and after one and a half months it just turned off and not working since. I tried three charges and nothing (it detects that charger is on but it cannot be charged). So now I have a not working phone only two and something months after purchase. But the problem is that in Croatia we have two apple reseller stores and neither don't want to exchange it, although is under warranty!!!! The closest stores are 250 km from Zagreb...Of course I have contacted Apple store in Zurich but they told me to come in Switzerland or to send credit card data for receiving new iphone, the problem is I don't have credit card with 700 euro on it!!!! what to do?? who to call ??? where to get replacment device cause this is disaster???? I wanted to buy ipad but after all this I doubt to do so...I have not working Iphone payed around 700 chf or 800 usd and cannot change it in my country, is it possible for such vast organization like apple that this things can occur????? So much for customer support

my phone just turned off and will not go back on. my top lock button has been broken for over a year. Help! I have tried plugging it into wall unit and computer but my home button just doesnt do anything!
It seems that year long delay from having your lock button repaired has finally caught up to you. Sounds like you have some damage to your phone that requires repair/replacement. Take it to a Apple store or contact Apple Tech Support.

From what you're describing appears to be Activation Lock, a security measure provided by Apple that makes it harder for people to use a lost or stolen device. You will need to enter the password for the Apple ID the device is prompting you for.

My elderly mother has EXTREMELY limited vision and is a technophobe. I am considering an iPhone with Siri. Can I turn off everything else so she can use only the phone app and voice dialing or Siri and not accidentally open any other app and screw something up.
I'm asking, in all seriousness, why do you think your mother needs an iPhone? Honestly, if your mother is, as you described her, a technophobe, I would recommend against getting an iPhone or any other smartphone. I've spent a fair bit of time teaching older folks to use smartphones. If they are interested in learning, it's fine. If they have the phone because their kids or grandkids thought it was a good idea but they are afraid of the phone or not interested in its features, it doesn't go well at all.
Many basic phones have voice dialing. Obviously, it doesn't do all the things Siri does but it may be much less intimidating for your mom. Also, basic phones have hardware keys. Even someone with limited vision can learn the keyboard on such a phone. From the sound of your first post, all she will be doing is making phone calls.

Try a reset. Hold down the Sleep/Wake button + Home button for around 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears.

Do a manual Reset on IPOD--by selecting
Menu and Center simultaneously, for about 6 seconds.
You may have to do this several times.
re-try IPOD
Make sure your Windows software is up-to-date.
Make sure your running the correct software version for your IPOD.

i have an iphone 3gs the old battery was useless so i replaced it with a new battery but it wont hold a charge now it used to charge to old battery but would just turned off if disconnected to its not the dock connecter any advice

Compiz and weird window placement
