Not getting notifications in iOS 8.1

I'm not getting Skype notifications on my iPhone. It happens most often after having the phone on airplane mode. I hope someone can help. I was having this issue with iOS 8 also, but found that if I went into skype settings and turned off Push Notifications, quit the app, restarted and turned on Push Notifications then I would get notifications again. Now no matter what I do I am getting maybe 1 in 10 notifications. Very frustrating. I have deleted Skype, reset my phone and reinstalled.I have wiped my phone and restored from back up.I have turned Skype off in the notification center, shut down phone then turned Skype on in the notification center. And it's still not working. Push notifications don't work at all. In all iOS versions. Not when the app is quited. Not when in the background. With some contacts you might get them, but with most never. Skype is just failing at making it work. Says it's 'beyond their control'. Or give non-working suggestions like uninstalling/reinstalling or turning of notifications and back on again. They even suggested at one point I should have my phone repaired! They don't seem to know a lot about making an app work. I never get push notifications. Meanwhile, every other messenger app (or all apps for that matter) have perfectly working push notifications. No matter what, with the app in the background or not, I always get push notifications. No problem at all. Apps like Whatsapp, Kik Messenger, Telegram, Line, WeChat. They all have perfect working push notifications. Maybe Skype should ask the tech teams from those messenger apps how to make push notifications work?

I seem to be having the same problem on my brand new iPhone 4S. Everything was working fine on the phone until I updated to iOS 5.1.1, but now I no longer receive push notifications for the native Mail app, Instagram, or the Facebook app. I still seem to be receiving SMS texts and iMessages via push, but the aforementioned apps need to be opened before I can receive missed notifications (having them open in the background seems to make no difference).

did you try notifications under settings? You can customize it as per your requirement, for each application.

Not getting notifications for push emails

I have an iPhone 5s with IOS 7.1.2 installed. I have a mail account set up pointing to my company's Exchange server. I will frequently not get notifications of new email until I open the email app on my phone. I won't get them when the email actually arrives in my mailbox (which is the purpose of push technology). Any ideas why I'm not getting these notifications? I have alerts turned on (banner, badge app icon, show in notification center, show preview), so ideally, I believe I have everything I need turned on. The account is also configured as 'Push' in the 'Fetch New Data' section of the menu.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like there is an issue with your iPhone receiving push notifications from your companies Exchange server. The article linked below has a lot of great information and suggestions which will resolve most issues like the one you described.

Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services.
Turn off SnapChat.
Go to Settings > Notification Center
Turn off SnapChat.
Restart the device.
Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services.
Turn on SnapChat.
Go to Settings > Notification Center
Turn on SnapChat.
Test the issue.

Not getting notification e-mail in case of time based publication

Hi,
We are working with subscription service.
We have one document subscribed by some users.
Users are getting notification mail whenever there is any modification in that particular document.
But when I am setting the lifetime property of the document.
Users are not getting notification e-mail when that document get published or get expired.
We checked in the Subscription Service.In the Allowed Admin Notification field we have to mention the proper event.
But we don't know which event name to mention.
It will be very helpful if any one let me know about it.
We are using EP 7.0.

Anyhow, what kind of subscription do you have chosen, immediate subscription or regular (daily, weekly, ...)?! If you are talking about an immediate subscription, try to alter this to a regular subscription. <i>Maybe</i> the change event which triggeres immediate subscriptions isn't thrown correctly by the TBP.
But even in this case, please open an OSS message, as this should be considered as a bug (or at least as a lack of documentation on help.sap.com).

If you are getting a network timeout error then try temporarily turning off all your firewall and antivirus software until the download has completed.

ICloud messages using rules do not get notifications

I use severall rules to redirect my iCloud mail messages to different folders and doing so i do not get notifications when I receive a message corresponding to a rule. Does anyone have the same problem and does anyone have an solution to this issue?

Slide up from the very bottom of your Home screen, this brings up "Control Center". Far top right is Orientation Lock...tap on/off.

How to get notification of ios update

Hi everyone
I'm an Apple newbie, having bought an iPad Mini a few weeks ago, and I'm still trying to understand some of iOS's quirks. Latest puzzle concerns updates to iOS, grateful if someone can advise how this is supposed to happen.
So I saw an article on the BBC News website saying there was an important security update. Looked at the iPad home screen - nothing there. Looked in the Notification Centre, nothing there. Drilled down into Settings>General>Updates, and there it was, so I installed it and I'm now up to 7.0.6. But I really don't want to have to go into this every couple of weeks just to see whether there's an update, I expect the device to notify me somehow. So my questions are:
1. I really want this to work like Windows Update, ie downloading and installing in the background. Can iOS be set to do this, if so how ?
2. If that really isn't possible, then I want to get a notification that an update is available. How can I get a message either in the Notification Centre or on the home screen to tell me ? NB I've seen references in other posts to getting a little red "badge" on the Settings icon, but I emphasise that I didn't get that. I know what it ought to look like because I've seen similar badges on the App Store icon, but I did not get that on the Settings icon. Do I have to turn that feature on in some way, if so how ?

Thanks King_Penguin, that's very helpful. Didn't know it had to be connected to power to even get a notification, that could well be why I didn't get the badge. Odd though; I can understand needing power in order to install an update (in fact I recall getting a prompt to do just that when I updated), but not just to discover whether an update is available. Have some helpful points on me !

Custom Afaria Client not getting installed on IOS devices

Hello,
I am using Afaria SP4 in my organization with no hotfix applied
I have created a custom Afaria Client App for IOS devices.
I am succesfully able to enroll my IOS devices and install the custom app during enrollment,when i am trying to hit the system tenant.
However,when i am trying to hit manually created tenants,enrollment is
done and also the device is under MDM control,but custom Afaria client app is not getting installed during enrollment.
I have attached the screenshot of the page where i have uploaded the ios afaria application in Afaria console.
The error that i can see in the icu logs while enrolling ios device in manually created tenant is as follows-
"The manifest for the app at

I'm quite sure you need to set this up per tenant. Have you tried to upload the custom client to each tenant ?

Not getting notifications on final WP 8.1 / Skype ...

On a brand new retail version of Nokia Lumia 630 (dual sim variant), after installing updates to all apps, I am not able to get notifications from Skype. It does not update the live tile, does not display them in the Action Center, does not display toast.
After clean boot, launching Skype, switching to start screen by either using Windows button or Back button, it does not work. It does not work when staying in the app and locking the phone by power button and no sounds are played even when in the app, visible on screen.
In the settings in the Skype app itself both options for notifications (Skype and Messenger) are set to ON. User visibility is set to "available" and I am able to send and receive messages. In the action center, the Skype is set to display notifications everywhere, play sound and vibrate. Skype app is allowed to show notifications on the lock screen as well, and it is allowed to run in background under battery saver.
I am a developer and know how to use the system and apps carefully to avoid as many bugs as possible, but I am unable to get this to work. It is a phone for my 60+ year old mom, and I really cannot imagine she would be able to figure it out .
The only thing I did at some point after getting the phone was that I moved skype app to SD card and then back to phone by using Intelligent Storage app.
Are you guys experience the same issue? Microsoft/Skype, please do something with this piece of sh*t, it is really horrible app since the WP7 and you were not able to improve it in 2 or 3 years? I would think that you can afford 2 or 3 good developers for building a client app on a platform nobody cares about .

Ipod Touch not getting detected after IOS upgrade.

I have recently upgraded the firmware of my Ipod Touch (1G) to IOS 3.0.1 and was successful in upgrading.
The issue i am facing is that my ipod touch is not getting detected after reconnecting and the ipod touch is not getting switched on...it is just showing the apple symbol and the progress bar.
Please let me know if anyone has faced similar type of issue.
Please also let me know the resolution for this.

Are you using a USB hub? Try connecting the iphone directly to the computer's USB port and see if that makes a difference.
Also, with the upgrade, this seems to happen a lot. Most of the time if it is not the USB issue above, it can be resolved by simply redownloading Itunes and installing it on top of your current installation.

I just went into my calendar, and clicked on a past birthday (which all got imported when I switched phones (used to get notifications on the iPhone)) and it seems I need to go into each contact that has a birthday listed and edit it...There MUST be an easier way! Just wondered if anybody can help me with couple of issues I have with my Iphone 5 after updating to iOS7.
1. My Facetime and iMessages will not activate with my apple Id it keeps showing and flases up the error 'Could not sgn in. Please check your Network connection and try again' yet my Connection is fine.
2. I have not been getting my push notifications everytime I open an app it tells me I need to connect to itunes to sort push notifications out but after uninstalling itunes on my laptop and reinstalling it wont let me sync my phone to it.
Would be very greatful for any help offered as im tempted to throw my phone at the wall lol

Since I upgraded to ios 7.1.1 I'm not getting notification alerts that require an action before proceeding?

For example in the notification center it says you can set an app up to trigger an alert that requires an action before proceeding and I'll get them if the screen is locked but if I'm using the phone then the only way I will know about a text msg etc is if I happen to see the badge icon with the red numbers. Any help would be much appreciated. And yes everything is set up to trigger those in the notification center. Thx!
