Not getting the speed I'm paying for

I've been a happy Fios customer for years and I've always upgraded to their latest and greatest the second it became available since Fios has, in the past, always outperformed whatever was promised. However things have changed. I upgraded to the 75/35 package, the highest level available in my area, but I've never achived that speed, but in the days after the upgrade it was close enough for me to be happy, around 70mb on the downloads. However in the months since then it was gotten slower and slower to now where I'm happy if I'm getting 50mb downloads. While that is still fast, that is what I got when I was on the cheaper 35/35 plan I had before I upgraded (as I said they used to overachive). All I want is what I'm paying for, if they could go over that be wonderful but it isn't required. What is required is that they come close to the numbers I'm paying for -- and those 50mb numbers are just getting to their local test servers, not even real world numbers which are slightly slower than that.
To answer ahead of time, I don't use bittorrent -- but I do download a ton of stuff via Netflix, YouTube and Steam. Then again I've always done that. There is no reason I would be being throttled.
So not to condem Fios since I've always been a happy customer, my router from them is I think about 4 years old -- in addition to the lack of speed I'm running into issues of having to reset it more often and the internet going dead if something is running at max download, like Steam. I'm thinking, hoping, that maybe just my router needs to be replaced. Since this is supposed to be a monitored forum how do I go about this without spending an hour on the phone doing what I've already done by myself 10 times before. For the record I was doing internet tech support as far back as 1996, I'm an extremely experienced user and have no interest in having someone tell me to reboot my router -- I know, I've done that.
Assuming that someone is reading this that can help please contact me with information on how to replace the router, just send me a new one in the mail, I'll be extremely happy with that.

Someone may chime in to help you out here. Otherwise, just stop by Live Chat or give Tech Support a call. Tell them you're having to reboot your router a lot and you believe it's going bad. Verizon's typically very good with sending you a new router without question.
Give your router a factory reset, though, and make sure it's not covered in dust. Just to give that a try
Also, if you use MoCa for WAN connectivity, consider checking your MoCa signal levels to see if your Coaxial connections are acting up. That can also cause your Internet to decrease in speed and drop out under high load. See: http://www.dslreports.com/faq/16569

    I spoke to a representative yesterday. My internet speed and tv service was to be upgraded. Over 24 hours later, nothing. How long does this take?     Unplug all your boxes when not recording anything (or else the recording will be messed up.) Plug the RG "modem" back in. Wait until the lights go solid. Plug the DVR back in and wait for normal operation. Plug the other set-top boxes back in and wait for normal option.
    Another idea -- Turn to a channel you should be receiving as part of the upgrade. Do you get the black screen or do you get an image? If you get an image with sound and don't see it in your guide, the channels are hidden. You'll have to press "menu" then select options, channel options, hide channels, then select each channel in that list that you want to appear on the guide. You'll have to do this individually for each box, but you can manually enter numbers on the remote to quickly go to that channel.
    If the channels are shown on the guide and you've reset everything and still no upgrade, send ATT Customer Care a PM using the link below. Include all relevant information, a link to this thread, a phone number with a good time to reach you and your real name and billing number.   • Getting 1/2 the speed I'm paying for & in too much pain to be on phone for hours--HELP

    My children do a Cyber school and have been getting disconnected from class for months now.  I'm also having losing the internet at random times on my desktop. A friend told me how to check my speed (since I know so little about computers) and I found out I'm only getting 1/2 the speeds I'm paying for!!!!  I've called Verizon customer service in WHATEVER COUNTRY 6 times now but I have to hang up after any longer than 35 minutes because of chronic pain!  Tech makes me turn off my router, check my speed, (when I know they can see the speed right in front of them, after 1 rep told me the speed without my asking) and computer share.   Nothing gets resolved, I NEVER GET THE CALL FROM A SUPERVISOR THAT WAS PROMISED, and Verizon closes out the problem after 72 hours!!  Seems  like EVERYONE ELSE HERE GETS THE SAME RUNAROUND AND LACK OF RESPECT!!  One billing person offered me a refund for the difference in speed for only 1 month and offered me to upgrade!!  I can't afford to upgrade and the Cyber will work if I would only get the speed I had when 1 started with Verizon in 2002!  I said UNACCEPTABLE and am having to call back once a week (because that's all I can handle)  to try to get a Supervisor!  Can anyone tell me how to get help without the exhaustion of being on the phone forever?! 
         All I know is I'm paying for 1.1-3 mbps but only getting .439-.864mbps download and 0.08-0.09 upload speeds and I have a Westfall 327W 8 year old modem.

    on 8/15 I had the slowest download speed yet of 0.17 mbps! I am paying for 1.1-3mbps.  My modem is 6 or 7 years old.  I'm not sure if I mentioned the last 2 sentences before.

  • Not getting The Speed That I am Paying For

    Greetings all FIOS Internet users.
    I had FIOS Internet installed at my house on March 8, 2014.  I bought the 50 MBPS download package.
    Unfortunately, my highest download speed is about 28 MBPS.  Because I'm a computer whiz, I immediately realized what my problem is.  It's my router setup. 
    The Verizon installers placed my router on a coffee table in my living room and then inserted a wireless USB card in to one of my computer's USB 2.0 ports.  However, my computer is located on the second floor of my house in my master bedroom and the router is located on the ground level of my house in my living room.
    Instead of running an Ethernet cable from the router to my computer, the Verizon installers opted to go with a wireless installation.  I can run an Ethernet cable from my router to my computer by using the coax cable outlets located in every room of my house.  Of course, this will require many hours of work by me because I will have to pull the coax cable out of each outlet and substitute Ethernet cable or-- I can run an Ethernet cable from my router to the outside of my house and then run this cable to my master bedroom by drilling a hole in my bedroom wall..  I've course I will have to weather proof this outside cable.
    If I do this, will my FIOS contract with Verizon be null & void?  I don't want to have any legal problems with Verizon but I sure as heck don't want to pay for 50 MBPS if I'm only getting 28 MBPS.

    I can't answer the question why the installer did what he did.  If you have a complaint about that it's best handled with Verizon Customer Service, rather than through this peer-to-peer forum.
    However, since you do have coax already running to the room where your computer is located, and if (this is important) your Actiontec is being fed by coax now, the amount of work involved in moving the router would be minimal.  Just disconnect it from it's present location and reconnect it in your master bedroom. 
    You may need a splitter for the coax in the bedroom but they're inexpensive and easy to obtain.
    If your Actiontec is currently connected to your ONT via Ethernet, moving the router would still be done the same way but you'd then have to call tech support and get them to change your ONT's provisioning from Ethernet output to coax.
    Once the router is moved, connect it to your PC via Cat 5/6 cable and in all likelihood you'll start getting the full speeds you're paying for.

    I've been on BT infinity option 2 for a couple of years now, and recently (A couple of months back) I started a new contract and upgraded my BT Hub (3) to BT Hub (5) and I recently noticed that I have been receiving shockingly slow internet compared to what I am paying for: I am currently getting around about 20-30 mb down and 5-9 up (according to bt speed checker and speedtest.net) when I should be recieving 70-80 mb down and 19-20 up. I called BT up and they said they'll send an engineer, but he didn't come and I really can not be bothered to call again, because this isn't the first time their engineers skipped the appointment. I still have faith in BT over Virgin and other providers. Does anybody know a way I can fix this?

  • FF is extremely slow so I tried other browsers and got the speed I'm paying for. I reinstalled a clean FF with no addons and new preferences. ???

    Did a clean install of FF and disables nonessential plugins. Still very slw. IE, chrome and safari are very fast but not user friendly

    Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?
    A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
    Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • Why am not getting the FILED LABLES in SM30 for my_Z_table?

    I created a Z table with 5 fileds, all are Z fileds. Initially, I created all 5 Z domains, corresponding all 5 Z data elements. Then, I assigned thses 5 data elements, to the fileds in the Z table. I have defined the SHORT, MEDIUM, LONG, HEADING fileds, while creating the DATA ELENETS.
    Then, I wanna, to populate some entries into this Z table, so, I opened the SM30 for this Z table, but, I did NOT see the FILED LABLES for the last 3 fileds(am getting the LABLES for first 2 fileds), instead am getting as "+" sign at the place of FILED LABLES.
    1 - So, pls. let me know that, Why am getting as + instaed of FILED LABELS?
    2 - How show up the FILED LABLES for the last 3 fileds.
    I guess, there is enough room. coz, length is only 15 CHAR.

    Go to the data elements SAVE and then activate it once more.Now generate the table maintance once again.It will work..

  • Not getting the create application in workspace for HFM

    I have the sample application called "Comma" which was created by me.Now when I go to open the comma application, nothing happens but I also do not get error.
    Dimension Library and other things open fine.
    Also I do not see the icon to create a new application any more when I go to consolidation administration through workspace.
    Navigate>Administer>Classic Application Administration>Consolidation Administration.
    I do not see the option to create application. I also do not get any error from workspace.
    please advise.......any help will be appreciated.

    If you can see "Tasks" and "Tips" you aren't in Consolidation Administration. Try again to go to Navigate > Administer > Classic Application Administration > Consolidation Administration.
    This should open a tab at the bottom-left of the screen that says Consolidation. Under the Navigate button, you should also see Browser View (or Project View). Make sure to select Browser View by clicking on the arrow if necessary.
    You should then see Tasks with a plus sign next to it. Ungroup Tasks to find Consolidation Administration. Click that to find Create Application.

I didn't realize I set my iPad up under another Apple ID until my phone was not syncing with my iPad so I erased all content and reset the device to put them both on the same Apple ID. The problem I'm having now is the apps that are supposed to be free like iPhoto and iMovie are saying I have to pay 4.99 for them how do I fix this problem. Cause I did have them installed when I had it set up under the other Apple ID name :(

  • "NOT solved" CO needs upgrading, can't provide the service I'm paying for.

    For the record, I accepted the solution to my original post as advised by support, in an effort to be able to unlock the original post but it didn't work.
    Please review the original post "CO needs upgrading, can't provide the service I'm paying for." for the beginning details of my issue.
    Here's the update and final word from Verizon....
    Worked on the issue in private support from 2/28/13 to 3/15/13. I was told my issue was submitted to the DSL escalation team & engineering group. I was told that it is a capacity issue at the CO, where upgrades are needed, so at the present time there is nothing more they can do until the upgrades are completed.
    Needless to say, I'm not happy. Now I'm currently looking into compensation in the form of some type of reduction in my monthly fee until the issue is resolved at the CO and I'm able to get the speed I'm provisioned. Wish me luck this is my last option.
    As I stated in my original post, I really have had a good relationship with Verizon up until now. Unfortunately, I'm not seeing a light at the end of the tunnel so I may have to make a change. I'll update this if anything changes

    This is probably my final update...
    I received a voice message in regards to my request for some compensation but there was nothing Verizon can do. The info given was that there was no estimated time for the upgrades to be completed. The offer was to down grade my plan to a lower provisioned speed & pay a lower rate. For both, it was not what I wanted to hear.
    I wanted to keep my plan & provisioned speeds. I am & have been happy with my service & speed(when it's where it should be), it just that I'm not getting what I pay for at all times. Since there is no estimated time for upgrades (so that I get those provisioned speeds) I was inquiring about a possible adjustment in my monthly fees(maybe a few bucks off per month) until the upgrades are done. So now as I understand Verizons stance, I need to continue to pay the full price & Verizon won't be providing my provisioned speed. That just doesn't sound like a fair deal.
    Unfortunately it appears that Verizon will now be loosing a long time customer, something I really wanted to avoid for the previously stated reasons. As I now look for an alternate ISP, I will continue to monitor my private support case in the hopes that something changes that will allow me to continue my relationship with Verizon as my ISP.
    I want to thank everyone for their assistance in trying to resolve my issue, you have all been professional, courteous & helpful(as much as you could have been) in our communications, Kudos to all.

    The above is what the bar says. It's been a while and wondered, maybe Apple changed the format for forums. Then got this nice big blank canvas to air my concerns. Went to school for Computer Science, BSEE, even worked at Analog Devices in Newton Massachusetts, where they make something for apple. 
    The bottom line is fast CPU = more FPU = more headroom and still can't figure out why the more cores= the slower it gets unless it's to get us in to a 6 core then come out with faster cores down the road or a newer Mac that uses the GPU. Also. Few. I'm the guy who said a few years ago Mac has an FCP that looks like iMovie on Steroids. Having said that I called the campus one day to ask them something and while I used to work for Apple, I think she thought I still did as she asked me, "HOW ARE THE 32 CORES/1DYE COMING ALONG? Not wanting to embarrass her I said fine, fine and then hung up.  Makes the most sense as I never quite got the 2,6,12 cores when for years everything from memory to CPU's have been, in sets of 2 to the 2nd power.  2,4,8,16,32,64,120,256,512, 1024, 2048,4196,8192, 72,768.  Wow. W-O-W and will be using whatever I get with Apollo Quad.

    If you do get 3G, you only use cellular when wifi is not available. You pay by the month for a 3/4G plan.
