Not giving up. Need laptop for FCP

Well I posted last week about owning an old laptop without a firewire port.
I have decided to look for a used Macbook Pro to do my editing on this boat trip.
I will be shooting with a Sony HVRZ5U (HDV to cassette tapes) and editing on FCP 6.0.6.
I have started looking for a reasonable Macbook Pro. I want something somewhat current, but I
do not think that I need the latest and the greatest. Setting my budget around $800.00 or
so, but will spend more if necessary.
A lot of the used computers come with Mavericks. I would like to know if I would be OK
reformating and installing Snow Leopard. That is the operating system I am using on my
MacPro and all seems to be working well. Are there any newer laptops where this would
not be possible?
On the other hand, I probably should get the best laptop for future use when i upgraded to
more current editing software.
I kind of feel like I am in the middle somewhere between the past and the future. I am leaning
towards Premiere pro and a new HD camera in the near future.
Any suggestions or cautions would be much appreciated.

I just used the Pacifist method to install FCS2 into Snow Leopard Server running in Parallels in a test of virtualization, and the installation was very simple and straight forward.

Which laptop for FCP?

Sorting a mobile FCP kit out for a friend - think we'll go for a 15" Macbook Pro with an external screen to hook up when she's working at home.
BUT: should we get
a) 2.2GHz chip, 120GB hdd, 128MB video ram
or b) 2.4 GHz chip, 160GB hdd, 256MB video ram
I don't think anyone would spot the difference in clock speed without a stopwatch, I wouldn't be bothered about the hard disk size given that all the media will be on external drives, so it comes down to the video ram.
What practical difference will having the extra video ram make? And would it be worth the extra £300/$500?
any thoughts really welcome

as for the video ram, FCP is not GPU dependent so at this time FCP itself will see little direct benefit although it is beginning to use FxPlug's which can and do use the video card ( and that trend is likely to continue ). of course, the extra power will help drive her second monitor as and when that gets plugged in. also, if your friend has any intention of ever using Motion then she definitely wants the better video card as that app is very much GPU dependent ... and don't forget that later on, if she changes he goals, you can easily upgrade the RAM and (less easily) the HD, but you can't upgrade the video card at all.
elitist mode on: personally I wouldn't consider a 15" for any serious editing at all as the screen just doesn't have the real estate for FCP's interface... I'd go with the 17" MBP w/ 2GB RAM minimum (pref. 4GB) and the 256MB SDRAM video card option

If you haven’t enabled automatic downloads, it won’t show up there unless manually put on it, which can be done by transferring it from the iPad or redownloading it from the iTunes Store.

Quick Start Guide Info not working. Need info for Job Interview

I am brand spanking new to Java but I have a job interview next week and this is one of the topics I need to learn a little about. Here is my issue if someone would kind enough to help.
I downloaded and installed SDK and JDK I am going through the quick start guide I am using the Quick Start guide that comes with Application Server PE 9. The quick start guide requires you to download a "Tutorial Bundle" that comes with the Java EE 5 Tutorial.
The Quick start guide then tells you to access certain files that are in the Tutorial bundle. For example it wants me to go to /Samples/Quickstart directory in the tutorial bundle and look for the hello.war. Unfortunately that directory and file does not exist (there is an /examples/web/hello1 directory but no hello.war
Long story short is there anyway to find a Tutorial Bundle that actually works with the software that I downloaded? Thanks in advance for your help

CUIT is not giving name property value for VB combo boxes

We are testing simple Vb6 controls using CUIT. Using CUIT we can get name property value of Vb6 button control. But for simple Vb6 combo box, CUIT is not showing name property value.
I want to add CUIT assertion for combo box name property value. how can I add ?

It doesn't mean that we don't identify the control. Generally we use the unique property as the search property to find/capture the control.

BoP is not giving partial confirmation

Dear Experts,
I have three sales orders of 80 qty each. I have stock of 100 qty and a purchase requsition of 100 qty. During SO entry, I got partial confirmation. Now using BOP i am redistributing confirmaiton based on delivery priority. But system is not giving partial confirmation.
For SO 1, it is showing full confirmaiton.
For SO 2, full confirmation but on PR date.
For So 3, no confirmaiton.
Whereas, SO 3 can still get 40 qty. I tried all possible combination, somehow BOP is not giving partial confirmation. Please let me know what setting do I need to change? I am on SCM 7.0.

HI Rinju,
You need to change your customizing in R/3. Goto transaction OVZJ and change the check rule to "E" for the corresponding sales org. Afterwards you have to trigger a update in the sales order e.g. run a new ATP check in VA02 and save the order. Due to this update the database tables in APO will be updated so that BOP can work now with the new result mode - Delivery proposal. The next BOP should be able to confirm partial deliveries then.

HT4589 Automatic Update does not give me an update from FCP X 10.0 to FCP X 10.0.5. How do I update? I have version 10.0.0.

I have never received an update from my original FCP X 10.0. I recently upgrade to Mountain Lion, purchase additional plugins and FCP X cannot use them unless I upgrade to atleast FCP X 10.0.3. Automatic Update does not give me an update for FCP X. Version 10.0.5 does not show on the Apple Support Download page. I purchased Compressor at the same time and it has given an update. How do I down find the download? Any suggestion would be appreciated.

And if it does not come automatically, move your Final Cut.app out of the Applications folder, open App Store, click Purchaces, and Install it from there - it will download the latest 10.0.5 version.
If FICPX is not listed there, it's because you bought it with another AppleID!

8 GB may be sufficient for CAD but 16 would be a much better idea.
All the Macs I have ever owned were eventually upgraded to the maximum amount of memory they could use. Considering that as of now, the RAM you specify is all the RAM you will ever have, get as much as you can. That is the only way to maximize its economic life.
If Apple offered a 32 GB version I'd get it.

Please help!! Laptop is not working and needed for homework!!!

I have a Toshiba laptop. The model is Satellite A215-S5837. The problem I have is this. Starting this morning when I turned on my laptop it was black for 10 minutes and then it starts loaing files. After it is finished loaing it goes to the regular Windows Vistas is loading screen. Then it goes black again and after 10 more minutes the mouse cursor shows up an nothing else. It nevr gets to the welcome screen where I can log on. It just stays black with a mouse cursor that responds when I move it. Please help quickly because I have homework ue soon for my summer class and I need to finish it tommorrow else I fail.
P.S. Please don't tell me to restore my computer because I don't have my restore disk with me because I am currently studying abroad.

Hi,
Any help appreciated. My printer is Photosmart C7288 All-in-One Printer.
As of 2 days ago my printer has not been working. It comes up with several error messages after I switch it on. The first one is "Ink system failure: Ink system has failed. Unable to copy, recieve faxes or print. Refer to printer documentation. Error: 0xc18a0105. Turn power off then on again."
However when I turn power off then on again via the 'power' button, ".ink system failure Then the same original error message comes up (0xc18a0105). This is the most frequent error message and won't go away. Then I also keep getting a message saying "Photo Tray Problem: Lift output tray up, verify the photo tray is pushed in until it stops, lower output tray". Despite the fact that I have not used the photo tray in several months and it is in the correct position.
So far I have tried switching the printer on and off several times using the power button. I also switched the printer off at the plug last night (after it had been properly shut down) and switched it back on this morning. I have looked through the printer documentation but could not find any troubleshooting advice for this kind of problem. I have updated the HP driver using software update on my mac, and the problem is still there.
I'm getting desperate now, I rely on my printer/scanner/photocopier a lot!

You may need to try this More than Once... Be sure to Follow ALL the Steps...
Take your time... Pay particular attention to Steps 3 and 4.
After you have Recovered your Device...Re-Sync your Content
Note:
To remove a forgotten Restrictions passcode you will need to Restore the Device as New...
OR... From a Backup created Before the Restrictions Code was set....
