Not happy having switched to BT re: usage limit

We have recently switched to BT with a phone & BB package - Broadband and weekend and evening calls £13 PM
Firstly I did not realise that there was a 10gb monthly limit and with our previous ISP it was unlimited. So we have received and email in our first month to say we have used 24 gb!!!!!
We were flumoxed as to how we have done this. It then occurred to me that it may be that I work from home and connect to my work network via VPN. Checked with Bt and this was indeed what was causing the high usage.
So we decided we would have to go up to More Broadband and Calls for £18pm. This gives us a 40 gb allowance, perfect.
My husband rang BT to get this changed and they said that we can't downgrade our call package so our only option would be to go for the £28 pm package, which is unlimited on everything.
This is ridiculous. We move to BT to try and save some money an it has backfired spectacularly!!
Any suggestions would be gratefully received. Our usage so far this month is over 10gb again and we'e going to be charged.

All packages are advertised with there download limits I cannot see how you did not know you had a 10gb limit i would suggest you phone again and say you want option 2 broadband with weekend and evening calls there should be no problem in them doing that

    1. If you are this unhappy with that phone, and the lost earbuds is the only thing stopping you from taking it back, why do not just buy some earbuds. That way you can get rid of that phone. It all depend upon how much you want to get rid of that phone.
    2. Yet if you are stuck with that iPhone, here is something might help you to control the data usage. By design, iPhones do turn off WiFi when they go dormant. So if a download is in progress and so forth when the phone goes dormant, it will switch to use cellular data, if this setting is left on. Therefore, from multi-sources I have learned that if you keep your iPhone connected to a power source, then it will stay connected to the available WiFi.

    No, Airport Utility, I do not want to switch wireless networks to get my Time Capsule mounting again. This is because if I switch wireless networks, the network will go spinning its little time wheel of nothingness forever and ultimately report that it cannot find the Time Capsule it switched for. On the other hand, if I choose not to switch, it insists that there's nothing to be done with the Time Capsule that's right up top, all by itself, in the Airport wireless devices in the network.
    All I want is for my Time Capsule to stop having these fits where it decides it won't join the network that already exists, that is already quite happy, and that it does not need to be the base station for. What is the problem that keeps making it go off into these fits where it won't join the network and won't let any network join it? And why does this keep happening? And what will stop it short of throwing the Time Capsule out the window?

    Due to logistics, I attempted to configure via wireless connection. The AirPort utility recognized the AirPort Express only after I pressed the reset button on the Express. It then showed up and I went through the setup dialogs regarding joining an existing network (my Airport Extreme) which it found. I configured the Airport Express using no security, as I was not sure which to choose and I was told there was an issue with my older Mac and working with the newer security protocol. The dialog box indicated that the configuration was complete, "The settings for this Airport Express have been successfully updated.. You can close the window or wait for the Airport Express to restart." I waited for about 5 minutes and it did not restart. I then closed and reopened the AirPort utility and it indicated that it could not locate any wireless devices, neither of the AirPort devices showed up. I tried relaunching the AirPort Utility several time with the same results. I then rebooted my machine and launched the AirPort Utility; it identified my Airport Extreme but not the AirPort Express.
    In order to connect via ethernet I would have to remove the AirPort Express from the location from which I intend to use it and connect it adjacent to my computer. What about losing or changing supposed retained settings by unplugging and moving each time? The ethernet connector currently runs between my cable modem and my AirPort extreme. This means getting a 2nd cable or disconnecting my AirPort Extreme to use the existing cable. Do I need to have this connected when trying to configure the AirPort Express? By turnoff the wireless I think you mean using the software to turn it off and not pulling the wireless card in my computer. I am a little confused why the AirPort Utility can only identify the AirPort Express only after I press the reset button on the Express.

I deleted all my mail, deleted the mail account, turned the phone off and back on, downloaded any remaining mail on the server to Outlook on my computer, and it still says it's using 661 mb. My ipad uses a fraction of that.
    Background: I recently (December) bought an ipad and set up icloud for contacts and calendar, but NOT mail. My email provider is Verizon. I use computer, iphone, and ipad to check my email; eventually I download it from the server using Outlook on the computer and then delete any remaining emails from the phone and ipad. I can't find info on this problem anywhere.

    It sounds like your iPad all of a sudden seems to be restarting out of no where. If you haven't called AppleCare yet, I would start with quitting either the app that seems to be causing the issue, or all the apps if a single doesn't seem to be the culprit. 
    iOS: Force an app to close
    Double-click the Home button.
    Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
    Swipe the app up to close it.
    When you have done that restart the device and test the issue again:
    iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    If the issue persists, backup your device to iTunes, then restore it as new and verify that it works. 
    How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups
    If it does, then restore your backup to either verify it still works and the software just needed reinstalled, or isolate the issue to the backup file itself.

  • Not happy with lack of attention to detail...

    Extremely disappointed in Verizon. I upgraded my phone and plan on Friday 2 May, at the end of the transaction I was told I would receive my phone 5 May around 8 pm I inquired on FB where my phone was, after 2.5 hours and several IM back and forth, I was told I was “missing" something on my application, news to me since I filled out everything that was asked. So I called the number given because apparently Brian was done talking to me. The customer service rep was very nice however it took her 20 minutes to figure out why my app said approved but there was no phone, come to find out that my SSN was needed , I gave my SSN 12 years ago when I opened my account. How can you not have it? Furthermore there was nothing on my account stating more info was needed, I have no email associated with my account for a reason. I do not check my personal email often. I could have received a text alert but nope there wasn’t one of those or even a message on my online profile, but again that didn’t happen. I finally got it straightened out and the Rep wanted to verify my email address I had on file???? It was my personal email address ( however was no email to me asking for any additional info) So let me get this straight you don’t have my SSN that I provided you but can get an email I have not provided?  An hour later I received a text message that I needed to accept the term and condition of my new contract!!!!! Really? That couldn’t be done before? **** poor service. I am now allegedly set to get my new phone Friday  a week after I ordered it , you had no issue with immediate changing me to my more expensive plan but make it difficult for me to receive my phone , I paying for service and having to spend an obnoxious amount of time trying to get Verizon to do their job! Not happy just give me my phone I should not have to wait it boggles my mind how overnight shipping can take an entire week!

    Asking for you SSN is simply a way to confirm that you are who you say you are. It is not unusual for an online/phone order to be held up for further identity confirmation. I see this same complaint on these forums to assume that it is not an unusual occurrence.
    You can remember that you have not given your email to Verizon within the last 12 years? I have a hard enough time remembering if I have given it out within the last month or so. They must have gotten it from somewhere. I don't think they go around spying on people to covertly acquire people's email addresses.
    Have you signed up for MyVerizon? I believe they ask for your email address during that signup.
    As to receiving the text to confirm, that is simply another safeguard to confirm the person in possession of the phone already on the account is the person actually placing the order.
    As Elector has stated, it is usually quicker to actually take possession of a phone in person.
    Many people actually prefer the safeguards in place in order to prevent others from ordering items on their account.

  • Since upgrade can surf past first tab can not back up after short time then whole program freezes not happy

    XP Pentium 4 since upgrade cant surf past first tab. finally cant backspace, finally freezes entire firefox. really not happy tried fixed in troubleshooting didnt work ran malware ran total virus scan no listed problem worked before upgrade although was beginning to get crash notices at closing on an increasing tempo. have used fox for years. this making me unhappy. dont want to have to switch. please come with and fix. cant seem to return to 6 whicxh had its own problems but worked

Hopefully it'll be fixed this time, otherwise I guess there's a fabrication error in these chips and we'll have to wait for Crucial to fix this (or we're going to have to look for another manufacturer).

    If you have a backup, it is very easy to revert back to your previous system setup.
    If you don't, then the downgrade is much harder to accomplish as it require a complete clean install of OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.
    Before going down that laborious road! maybe you tell us what issues you are having.

  • OS 10.3 Not Happy

    carrying on from another thread.
    auto update has always been switched off.
    noticed earlier that it was auto updating 10.3 which i didnt want as ive had major problems with every single update since ive had the phone which is about 16 months now.
    i did do a battery pull to try and stopp it downloading but that didnt help and it hasnt corrupted anything.
    well i still dont like it one bit.
    im blind in one eye so making the icons a bit smaller doesnt help.
    all my most used icons have now been moved all over the place and not on the first page.
    as soon as it booted i had a text message from my provider saying they see i have swapped my sim or changed my device and some of their services will not work. i need to update my device to continue using data services.
    whatever i open like text,or email the back arrow to return to the menue doesnt work.
    i have over 6000 messages on facebook from the day i bought the phone even they are deleted daily.
    the callender has everyone birthday from msn,hotmail and yahoo callender even though i had sync turned off so every day is filled with various coloured dots so no idea when all my meetings are as callender is also smaller.
    i could go on but i wont.
    all i would like to know is how i can roll back to previous OS loaded.
    and before you say connect to computer it has never worked properly and when i had a total wipe thanks to a glitch on the phone rim advised to delete the software off computer and not connect phone anymore.

    as mentione on other posts when you swipe phone to open it is zoomed in so looks like there are 4 icons per row but when you pinch screen there are actually 5 now so makes icons even smaller. i want 4 icons like before.
    swipe down from main screen to turn notifications from normal to phone calls only at night it now only gives the option to switch from normal to silent.
    ive set it up to tap the screen to switch to phone calls only which works once but when i tap it again it goes back to silent so no such thing as a quick setting anymore.
    even with the phone set to on for auto updates (even though i have always had mine set to off so no idea how it was switched on) shouldnt there be a way to stop the install as i did not agree to it as once the download started i could not stop it.
    phonebook. when swiped down to look for a number without putting a letter search on the old OS when closed and opened again it would be back at the top of the list. now it stays on the last contact searched and the only way to get back to the top is to keep scrolling up.
    i see on other posts that its not recommended to go back to an older OS, well thats my decission and i would like to switch back before monday as my phone is used for my hospital job and emergency calls and im not happy with this update so can someone advise on the procedure to roll back.

    reocurring alarm set in callender for every week.
    now at half volume even though volume is set on max and only lasts 2 seconds instead of continuous until i stop it.
    ive gone in and tested the alarm and it plays contiluously for roughly 20 seconds in the saved folder.
    i save the alarm tone to the calender again and do a test.
    it rings for 2 seconds and stops.
    this is getting to be a bit of a joke.

    EDIT:: i see what you mean by the borders removed but they still look smaller to me.
    there used to be 4 on a row and now there is 5
    im blind in one eye and cannot see them clearly now and i dont think a border would have made them stand out more.
    if i turn magnifyer on and pinch out screen so as 4 only show then i can read them exactly how i could yesterday before update and they are defo bigger.
    my main worry though is the ringtone and alarm problems.
    using phone in a very busy hospital for emergency calls i can hardly hear the phone in my pocket now and thats at home so im dreading monday.
    the callender alarm is also a big issue as i have times set up for meetings and the 20 second alarm which starts of low and gets louder only rings for 2 seconds now. its not just me as others reported the same issue.
    ive checked the ringtone in the folder on the phone and tested it and it rings continuously so its not a broken file. i save it to callender ringtone and set an alarm and once again it rings for 2 seconds.
    im old skool and like a real keyboard so am stuck with BB but im tempted to go out and buy a passport full price as my contract doesnt run out on my Q10 until november but im wondering if i did and turn the phone on would that auto update to 10.3 as well.

    So Apple really didn't fix the additional screen issues then, bummers.
    The price of this feature is the loss of the aforementioned nerd-impressing ability to have windows that span multiple displays.  In Mavericks, a window can span screens while being dragged, but it will appear partially transparent on the destination screen until the cursor touches the edge of the screen from which the window is being dragged, at which point the opaqueness will switch sides.  Releasing the window mid-drag leaves it visible only on the screen where it's opaque.

    I'm having same problem with my iPhone 4.  Even after restoring twice.   Simple tasks casue the phone to lock up and restart, which, thanks to iOS 7 takes much longer than with iOS 6. 
    I love my phone, but it is almost unsuable after update.

    Hello Rumenigue,
    It looks to me like you are using a console cable.  The reason you usually see them the other way around is because with a console cable the RJ-45 end goes into the device (an ethernet jack labeled console) whereas on this switch the console port is serial itself. 
    Usually the serial end of the cable you have plugs into a USB to serial adapter (because most computers today don't have serial ports anymore) and that USB connection goes into your PC, creating the virtual COM port you need in HyperTerminal.
    So if you get a USB to Serial adapter you could plug that from USB to the console port, or if you computer has a serial port of its own just connect a serial cable directly from the PC to the switch, then use HyperTerminal with the settings recommended above by Tom.

  • Tiger Crashing, PowerBook not waking up, Keychain not happy, etc.

    My PBk17 G4 1.67 has been behaving irradically since I set up a second user and enabled fast user switching, upgraded to 1GB of Apple RAM, and installed the software for my new HP PCS 1510 all in one. It is running must faster with the two users, now that I have more RAM, but- it will generally not wake up from sleep, has to be force-restarted, and on several occasions, and again twice this morning, after my force-restarting, I get this ominous gray floating warning telling me I have to force restart my computer (the message is also in a few other languages).
    Everytime I have to restart, it tells me that it cannot find Bonjour, then I have to put in my keychain password, and Keychain wants my mail password, and Virex cannot connect to the server for an e-update. It is generally not happy right now.
    I have done all of my software updates, repaired my preferences, and I don't know what to try next.
