  • I want to gift iTunes to someone not living in the same country....how to do this?

BBuying iTunes gift for someone living in a different country!

You can't, you can only send gifts to people in the same country as yourself (and whose account is in the same country as yourself), you can't send them to other countries. You could send them money (but not an iTunes gift card, they are also country-specific).

  • Getting SkypeIn Hong Kong number while NOT living ...

    Hello,
I currently live in Japan however I would like to have a HK Skype-In number and I do not plan to live in HK. Is that technically okay?
I was wondering if I had a HK Skype-In number (while still living in JPN), that would lower my friend's telephone bill who live in HK when he places a call to me.
Are there any technical problems if I do this?
    Thank you for your time.
    Atsushi

I have 2 numbers in Hong Kong for many years and have had no issues.

  • IPod Touch 3G replacement battery not living up to what was promised

I have had my iPod touch for almost 4 years. The battery started to run down (loose charge more quickly or just not charge up all the way) about 3 to 6 months ago. I took it in to the Apple shop and they gave me a replacement iPod touch 3G after I paid the battery replacement fee. This gave me a 90 warranty on the fix.
I took the new iPod touch home and charged it up and set it up as a new iPod Touch. No restore. After doing this, I used it for about 30 minutes reading a book. Then it gave me a "20% battery remaining" message. After 30 minutes. So I killed the book software and loaded the battery monitoring software. It showed that, sure enough, I only had 20% battery remaining. But, as I watched, it jumped up to 25%. And then up again to 35%. So I went to plug it into the computer to charge. When I did, it jumped up to 80% charged as soon as I plugged it in. I unlocked it and, on the batter monitoring app, it stated I had an 85% charge. So I charged it back to full then unplugged it again. This time I restarted it, hoping this was just some boot error. It did the same thing repeatedly over the next few days. It would give me a "battery 20% charge" warning, then jumping up to between 35% and 70% as I watched. Then back down to 20% again like some drunk metronome.
I took it back to the apple store and told them my problem. Realizing that this is an old iPod Touch model and future replacements would be similar if not worse, I offered to pay the rest of the money needed to just purchase an iPod Touch 4G. As in, take the original amount paid for the repair, as I had not gotten a battery replacement that worked, and add to that to make up the difference to purchase the newer one with a good, working battery.
This was refused. Instead I was given another iPod Touch 3G to take home. And, again, this one is doing the same thing as the first replacement I received. If I had not been there to see that there were, in fact, two different iPod Touches involved, I would have thought that it was the same one. This newest one has the same drunk metronome battery as the last "new" one.
I have been an Apple customer for many years now and the offer is still open to just pay the rest of the difference to upgrade to an iPod Touch 4. Because I don't want to and cannot play iPod Touch roulette via mail returns for the next month until I finally get one that has a working battery. That and the fact that it costs money for me to get to the nearest Apple store every time I go. So going any more would eat up any money saved on getting that original battery replacement back. But Apple would keep that money and it wouldn't have done what they said they would do. Which is, replace the battery with a working one.

It would have been difficult to take up the problem with the manager of the Apple store as I live in Japan and the manager is Japanese and doesn't speak English.
I did go through many discharge cycles, yes.
That may true and the percentage indicators used in battery information apps may not be reporting the correct percentage. However, when the iPod Touch itself is giving me the 20% battery life remaining warning and then going back up to almost 50% then back down to 20% and displaying a warning 4 times in 10 minutes for two separate iPod Touches, I don't think it is the percentage indicator's that could be wrong on two consecutive iPod Touches. Especially given that the original iPod touch I had, even with the failing battery it had inside of it, did not bounce around that much... Or at all.

  • HT201210 Why cant I downgrade io6 to ios 5.1.1 as ios 6 is not living up to expectations

IOS 6 is Pants and I want my 5.1.1 back! NOW

Apple does not and never has supported downgrading from a newer installed version of iOS to an earlier version.  So I guess I would suggest learning to love and care for your new version of iOS, because you're going to have it for a while.
    Peace.
    Hope this helps

  • New XtnHD not living up to expectations

I bought a Maxtor Onetouch III 320GB online from Apple. Since my Macbook doesn't have an 800 Firewire port, the 'one touch' feature is irrelevant but Maxtor provides software to load a Maxtor Manager on my desktop port. This has four feature buttons - Backup, Restore, Settings and Sync Now - but after loading the software and connecting the hardware, it doesn't work, i.e. the four buttons on the Maxtor Onetouch Manager window are 'greyed out.' The XtnHD icon appears on the screen and its volume is recognised. It works with either Firewire 400 or USB but the Onetouch manager doesn't work. Does this mean it will only work with the Firewire 800 connection?

    Hi,
just wanted to add my personal experiences not only with the Maxtor but also with the Western Digital software, that were provided with the external drives.
For the uses I have with external drives (copying files for backup; using SuperDuper for bootable system backup) I don't use this software.
Out of curiosity i did install the Maxtor software once on a Windows PC and had quite some trouble with the drive afterwards.
So if you don't need this software, don't install it.
Maybe when you uninstall the Maxtor software, your drive will work.
    Regards

  • I'm not living in USA anymore and I want to keep my iphone. Can apple unlock it?

i want to keep all of my info... I dont to restar with a new iphone again.
I just hope you ppl can do it.
i heard something about a white list, hope is true.

Apple doesn't unlock iPhones. Only the carrier a phone is locked to can authorize the phone's official unlocking. None of the US iPhone carriers will authorize the unlocking of an iPhone for anyone for any reason.

I encode edits created on Premiere Pro CC 2014 to main profile H.264/12Mbps but they are not being turned around nearly as fast as I thought they would for a PC with my kind of specs, when observing the task manager during an encode I can see that the CPU utilization only goes up to a maximum of 64% (averaging at around 45-55%), meaning that a 30min sequence can take as long as 45mins to complete.
Is there a way of getting any more horse power from my computer?  I have invested in this solution as i need to turn around clips very quickly but at the moment the performance is not living up to my expectations.

  • QuickTime not found error when trying to run iTunes 64 bit on W7, QuickTime not found error when trying to run iTunes 64 bit on W7

I have quicktime installed on windows 7, 64 bit, and then installed the 64 bit version of iTunes. Install is successful, but when I try ot run iTunes, I get an error - "QuickTime was not found". Any suggestions?

I have the same problem, and while I can 'fix' it with the approach described here, I have to 'fix' it that way EVERY TIME I launch itunes.  I suppose the lousy support for mainstream computers is apple's way of saying, 'well of course you can't use your phone, you're not living in a (TM) apple home (TM) please sell your existing home and purchase one from apple if you want your phone to work.'  I never would have imagined that as a computer programmer it would be a multi-hour/failed installation process to get iTunes and the iPhone4 working properly.  What a joke.

  • How can I buy Lightroom 6, not Lightroom CC,  in Canada?

When I start Lightroom it says there is a new upgrade avaiable and gives me a link. But every time I go to the link all I get is a link to Lightroom CC. I am NOT a CC user. This has been going on for days! I need a working link or I need Adobe to change the message to something like "Not yet available in Canada".
Thanks Adobe, for wasting so much of my time.

    Follow this link:
    Products
then click on the Llightroom 6 directly on "Buy".
under this you have the option to choose between upgrade which have a lower price to full version.
Then click on Add to cart.
I am not living in Canada, but for the German region I still have an issue that the "Checkout" button don't do anything. Anyway as I still use the trial version I am not in a hurry to buy it now.
    I hope that helps.

  • Address Book on Mac not updating to iCloud

I have managed to successfully set up iCloud across my iPhone, iPad and iMac.  The issue I am having relates to the Address Book on the iMac which are not syncing to iCloud.  Items changed on other devices do not appear on iMac Address Book an likewise changes on iMac do not sync to iCloud and other devixces.  I have tested to make sure changes on other devices sync to iCloud and down to iPad/iPhone, and this works withou issues.
Any ideas for how to correct this.
    Thanks
    Sean

I have to say, the migration to iCloud is a nightmare.  This bug is the kind of stuff that will drive you nuts.
I made a change to a contact on my mac yesterday.  This person's mobile number had changed.  I just assumed iCloud was working as it should be.  Today, I was driving to an appointment and I needed to return this guy's call.  I looked him up on my iPhone and his new mobile number was not there.  It was clear the update I made yesterday never made it into iCloud and never pushed to my iDevices.  Darn it!!!  What good is iCloud if the thing won't work properly?  No good.
If it's necessary for everyone using a mac to delete and refresh their calendars and contacts then at least give us a heads up!  Better yet, fix the darn thing so it just works, as it should.
This is just stratching the surface of the difficulties I've been having with iClould over the past few days/weeks.  I'll spare everyone all of my stories.  Suffice to say I'm not a happy camper.
Apple is not living up to customer expectations when it comes to iCloud.  It looks like they might need to fire some folks and start over with someone who gives a ****.  When it comes to web services, you have to be perfect in your execution.  Dropbox is.  Apple's iCloud is just not there.
    My 2 cents.

  • Spotlight does not show Movies, Maps, Wikipedia or Websearches

    Hi,
I'm looking att all these nice features that Spotlight should have, but quite a few are not working for me.
    I'm running a Mac Mini on 10.10.1.
When looking at the spotlight preferences I have 22 categories to choose from. Maps, Wiki and Movies are not not listed amongst the categories.
I have no idea if they should be there, but the internetz seem do indicate that they should.
I can see why Movies do not appear as I'm not living in the US and I believe that those are fetched from Fandango. Perhaps this is also true for Maps
if this is in fact Yelp rather than Maps searches (not sure why that would be). But why no Wiki ? Wiki actually DO exist outside of the US, and
why not letting me use it just because I happen to live in another country ?
I've seen that Language & Region settings seems to be a candidate for this behaviour so does this mean I have to switch system language or region (and
screw up all time settings) just so that I can get Wiki to show up on Spotlight ? If that's the case I'd very much like Apple to fire someone.
Bing Searches is listed as a category, but when moved to the very top I still never get any web search results. Any ideas about that one ?
Same Language/Region issue ? If yes, than that is even more ridonkeylous than the wiki one. It basically means that there has to be a
line of code where it checks if language matches the region and actively remove the bing results rather than not just run that search.
All in all Spotlight just doesn't seem to be nearly as useful for actual users if you live outside Cupertino to be honest. Much disappoint.
    /Niklas

When you hover over a file in spotlight list (or select with up/down arrow) you can also hit command-R to open the folder where the file is located. Kind of like 'Show Original' for aliases.
But yeah, Apple really needs to just show the directory path on the hover pop-up by default. Obviously, when you do a search you'll most likely get several files with the same name - we need to see the locations to tell them apart. One of the main reasons to do a file search is to simply find out 'where the file is located' - not necessarily open the file. Seems pretty shortsighted to not show the file location in the search result.

  • My iMac does not start up after Mavericks upgrade

    Hi,
I have a 2010 27" iMac with OSX.6.8 (if I remember well). Yesterday, I made a backup on an external drive with Time Machine, I downloaded Mavericks, proceeded to installation and when it restarted it got stuck on the grey screen.
I've tried every procedure from the Apple support, nothing worked.
Please help. I'm not living close to an Apple store and I'd love to figure this out by myself.
    Philippe

    Hi Philippe,
Has this iMac gone without AC power for extented periods?
If so likely the PRAM Battery is dead.
    Couple of things to try...
Hold alt key at bootup, what boot options show up?
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
Have you done a PRAM reset, CMD+Option+p+r...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
In fact, do 3 in a row, takes a bit of time.
