Not log out when in active

My new Air with 10.8.2 likes to log my account out when it's inactive for a few hours, which didn't happen on with 10.7 or .6 or .5 on my older MacBook. I'm fine with locking the screen and having to password back in but I would like to turn off the log out feature. I've looked in Security & Screen Saver & Account pref panes, and so far I can't find a control for this.
Can anyone tell me where to turn of the log out feature?
Thanks

Unlock the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences and click the Advanced button.

After Time Machine backs up my file vault files (after logging out), when I next log into the user account it beachballs permanently during log in.  The backup was successful, as I had to restore after this issue last time.  Hard resetting doesn't resolve the issue.  Is there a Time Machine setting that I should be aware of?
I have 2011 13" MBP, 10.6.8 and use an external hard drive connected via USB for my Time Machine backups.
    Thanks

I was able to get it to work.  Thanks for your help.  It's unfortunate the two applications do not work well together.  This is what I did:
    1) Safe boot and logged into the affected user (since the whole issue damaged the account's system settings).
    2) Turned off File Vault in System Preferences. I needed to make some space on the hard drive first since apparently the total free space on the hard drive has to equal or exceed the amount of data currently in the file vault.  I deleted some files and moved others to the Admin account.  This whole process took awhile.
    3) Finally, just restarted and logged in.  The next time machine backup seems to be a significant backup, I assume because it's backing up the user account in a different way now that File Vault is turned off.
    Thanks again!

  • Creative cloud keeps saying im logged out when i log in

evertime i try to log in creative cloud it keeps saying im logged out when i log in. but im not logged in

You will need to go to the folder where the database is stored on your computer (location is dependent on Mac or Windows system) and either delete two folders or rename them.
I am on a windows 7 computer so your file locations may be a bit different than mine especially if you are on a mac.
Close the manager. {this requires right clicking on the manager's icon in the taskbar} (Clicking the X in the upper right hand corner does not shut down the program, it only hides it)
In windows Explorer go to the following folder location: C:\Users\{Name goes here}\AppData\Local\Adobe
    Find the folders -
    AAMUpdater
    OOBE
    Rename them
    AAMUpdater.old
    OOBE.old
Start the manager, type in your username and password then OK the license agreement.
At this point you should be ready to go.

  • Why can i not log out of facebook

why can i not log out of facebookand everytime i go on the facebook websit it just restarts  and when i check my emails from my i phone i go on a website called badoo it does not let me read it any more i could read them before

That's just how it is. I've had Game Center logging me back into games since iOS6.  The closest I can come to anonimity on Game Center is to either not use Game Center games or create a generic ID for use in Game Center only.

Sounds like there is some sort of ddb file corruption. There are many causes, but the quickest fix I have found is usually a file-based deletion of the ddb file on both the source and target side of this partition. The attempt to create a partition on this database will cause a new ddb file to be created. Of course, this is dangerous. You can't have any other partitions on either the source or target side...or they will be deleted by this step. But the only purpose of the ddb file is for partition definitions, and it exists on both source and target.
I've found this happens if one side of a partition (one of the ddbs from source or target) gets the file deleted, or communication is down between the source database server and target database server.

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

  • Guest users in WLC are not logged out after pre defined time.

    Hi,
My customer wants to create guest users in wireless lan controller. We were successfully able to create that and it worked . But the problem is that to access the internet the users have to change the "proxy server" settings on the internet explorer. As a result the guest users are not logged out automatically after the pre defined amount of time. We enabled " by pass proxy server " settings in internet explorer also, unfortunately it didnt work too.
If we disable the proxy settings in internet explorer customers were logged out, but the problem is that once the customer log in he will change the proxy settings in internet explorer to browse net  but wont get disconnect unless and untill he manually change the proxy settings in the internet explorer.
Is there any other way to solve this issue? Can any one provide any alternative solution  if possible.
    Regards,
    Bibin

Can you explain how your proxy server has anything to do with your wireless access duration?
Does you proxy server have the logic that stops the internet access after a period of time? If so, I assume you turn proxy off in order to web-authenticate? If so, then you just need to tell the browser to not proxy for the virtual IP address of the WLC.   You'll never get redirected to the webauth page if you don't send a https request to it (as if, your browser is sending it the IP of your proxy server).

  • Logging out when closing lid

For some reason my MacBook has logged out when I closed the lid a couple of times instead of going to sleep. The battery was at about 50% charge the last time it happened. Anyone else have this happen?

Ok, I realized for it to log out I have to have my computer go to sleep. I usually only have the display go to sleep b/c I heard it is bad to have you computer set to go to sleep that often. So there is really no way for me to make someone have to log in without putting my computer to sleep, or logging off and closing all my apps. ??

  • Why can i not call out when in roaming but can recieve calls

why can i not call out when roaming and my data shuts off but i can recieve calls

        rhondahuffman1,
These are great question and we definitely want to help out! For starters, what model of device are we working with? Are you roaming outside of the country or is the device stating roaming within certain areas? What's your zip code? Happening in specific locations? Share some details, so that we may assist.

  • Firefox does not log out of Gmail/Facebook when window is closed

I have set each page to not 'keep signed in' for both Gmail and Facebook (have not tried others) and yet when I close firefox and re-open, my pages are still fully logged in.
I have taken steps to clear cookies and history, close browser, open browser, log into Gmail and Facebook in new sessions and made sure the options to remain logged in were not selected and then closed the browser only to re-open and have my accounts still open.
Additionally, beyond that I have enabled the clear history when firefox closes option for 'active logins', 'cookies', and 'cache'. Still the sessions persist. This should not be possible. None of the tabs are pinned currently.
A friend, having the same settings (we think) was finding that Facebook sessions would be logged out, but his Gmail session would still be active for his inbox but attempting to reach account settings would require him to log in. In my experience, I was able to get to the account settings page without having to log in.
What is going on? How do we get Firefox to behave like it used to (like it should)?

    it's in about:config, browser.sessionstore.privacy_level

  • Dual 1.25 with 10.4.11 automatically logging out when idle

I've had this problem for awhile where the computer will log itself out of my user's name and I'll have to log back in. It happens when I am away from the computer for an extended period of time (+10 mins), which shuts down anything I have running.
How do I get it to stop?
I did have another user and just deleted it and I haven't seen if that has stopped the auto log out or not.
Thanks in advance for you answers!

    Hi.
    Another thing to check:
    1. In System Preferences, go to Desktop & Screen Saver, click on the Screen Saver tab and look at the slider control for start screen saver. Unless it is set to Never, you will then need to go to Security (also in System Preferences) and make sure that the check box "Require password to wake this computer from sleep or screen saver" is NOT checked. If it is checked, it means you will have to enter your password once the screen saver has activated (or if the computer has entered sleep mode after the number of minutes set in the Sleep tab in Energy Saver). Sometimes this can appear to be the same as logging back in, because you are having to enter your password.

  • I changed my appleID and primary email and now I can not access anything. iphone shows my old appleID and I can't log in with my old password but I can not log out and log in with new ID. How do I get iphone to work with my updated ID?

My old nternet account was cancelled and with it my emails. I updated my apple id and password in all my devices (ipad, iphone, imac, except for my moms iphone. I am trying to log out from my old account and set her up with her own apple ID and iCloud etc but it does not let me log out. I have a notebook with all my passwords in it so I know for a fact the password for the old ID/ email is correct yet a window keeps popping up that it is incorrect. I have spent hours reading and trying to fix it myself and nothing is working, same window keeps popping up. Any ideas on what to do? I have an iphone 4S, all software up to date and I made sure my moms phone is also updated. Thank you, any help is greatly appreciated.

    Hi ccharat,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you did a good job editing your Apple ID and primary email address, but you didn’t sign out of iCloud on your iOS device before hand. What you may need to do in this situation is go back to the Apple ID website and edit your Apple ID and primary email address back to the email address that is signed in with iCloud (there is no need to verify the account after editing it back to the old account, just changing it back is enough). Once your Apple ID is back to the original account, delete the iCloud account from the iOS device and be sure to keep all info on the device when prompted. After you delete the iCloud account, go back to the website and edit your Apple ID and primary email address back to the new address. Once it is back to the account you would like, you can sign into the iCloud on the iOS device with that new account and merge all of the data when prompted. Please use the following article as a reference.
iOS 7: If you're asked for the password to your previous Apple ID when signing out of iCloud
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts5223
    Change your Apple ID temporarily
If signing out and back in to iMessage or FaceTime didn't help, try these steps:
Change your Apple ID to the Apple ID you used previously. You shouldn't need to verify the email address.
Go to Settings > iCloud. Complete these steps only if the Find My [Device] setting is turned on:
Scroll down and tap Delete Account, then tap Delete to confirm.
Tap “Keep on My [Device]” or “Delete from My [Device].” In either case, your data remains in iCloud and will be updated on your device when you sign in to iCloud again.
Enter the password for your previous Apple ID.
Change your Apple ID to the new email address that you want to use. You'll need to verify the email address.
Return to Settings > iCloud and sign in with your new Apple ID.
    I hope this helps,

  • How to stop MBP with Retina from logging out when HDMI plugged in?

When I plug in my TV to the new HDMI out port on the MBP +Retina, the screen turns blue (like it used to on my Mac Air), the resolution changes, but then when the sceen comes back I am at the login screen. Not only am I logged out, but all my apps that were open were crashed (not quit).
Anybody experience this? How do I fix it?
    Thanks!
    Daniel

You're not alone.  For me ther'es no HDMI in use, it happens when it's not connected to anything.  At first I had thought it was tied into VLC since it happened consistently there at first, but for the last week it's been happening anytime, no VLC running.  I'm trying to track it down as well so while I have no resolution yet, at least you know you're not alone.  VERY frustrating since I do a lot of file work and hate it when it does this part way through a 20GB file copy...

My Mac will not allow me to "log out". What should I do?

    Greetings,
What happens when you attempt to go to Apple Menu > Log out?
Assuming you are running Mac OS X 10.6.7:
    Backup your data: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1553
    SafeBoot your computer: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1455
Login to your normal Admin account while in SafeBoot
Download and install the 10.6.7 combo while in SafeBoot: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1361
Restart the computer as normal and then see if you can logout.
    Hope that helps.
