Not mixing Exchange and personal mails

Hello,
I use my Mac at home (shared family computer), and Exchange at work.
I can create my Exchange account easily, and it works.
But then, my inbox mixes my personal e-mail adresses (I have 12) and my work e-mail.
I would like to separate both.
The inbox is good with my personal mails as my 12 pop accounts are retrieved and i can view them in one place. But when I had my Exchange account, I suddenly add 3000 mails mixed up with my personal mails.
I could try to create "smart mailboxes", Does anyone have an idea better than that?
Thanks in advance,
Guillaume

Smart Mailboxes is probably the best way. Or you could create a rule to filter Exchange emails into a separate mailbox

  • Nokia 5800 - 'Mail for Exchange' and 'Nokia mail'....

Ok may be a silly question but while looking through my 'installed apps' on my 5800, since i was thinking of 'clearing some stuff out' to make that little bit more memory on the phone (Currently I'm ~ 3/4 full)
I noticed that although MOST of them (games etc) are already on my memory card there's a few stuck on the phone.
Many I guess can't be removed (such as 'Symbian OS' stuff, 'OVI Maps' or other 'OVI Store' stuff) but what about programs that seem to be 'duplicates' (i.e. seem to do the same thing) ??
Why should I have 2 'Map' programs or 2 'Email' program etc ??
In particular - why should I need to have 'Mail for Exchange' AND 'Nokia Mail' installed at the same time. Both are ~ 1Mb each and both seem to be related to 'Getting Emails onto the phone'
Can't I just stick to one one them - say 'Nokia Mail' & remove 'Mail for Exchange' ??
Doinf so will only free up 1Mb of phone memory, but it'll help - or does one program rely on the other ??
    Thanks in advance
P.S. I've just noticed there's a couple of other programs 'In Phone memory' that seem suspicious.
One is called 'Chinese Lion (164Kb Supplier: QTEL) and the other is called 'Diamonds' (102kb Supplier: WANGP) - anyone know what these are ??
    Motto: Illegitimis non carborundum

Most users don't need both, but each has a different purpose which is why both are offered. Nokia Messaging is Nokia's in-house push mail service available for all consumers (currently it requires a certain type of operator subscription, but I understand that is about to change so that it is open to all). Mail for Exchange is primarily for business users whose company uses Microsoft Exchange for corporate mail.
Likewise, you don't need to Maps apps - GPS-equipped phones always have Nokia/Ovi Maps preisntalled, unless youe phone is an operator-variant from a network which has its own GPS service or you bought the phone second-hand from somebody else, I don't see why it would have another similar application.
For general memory management, this post which I made in reply to another user with memory issues may help:

  • Keep Work (ie Exchange) and Personal Calendars Separate?

Hello all. Loving my new iPhone 3G, have a quick question.
At work, we all use Exchange and Outlook for scheduling. All my work calendar info is on there, and has to be. And, all my coworkers have access to that work calendar.
This last point raises a privacy concern. I don't want my boss to be able to see every personal entry into my calendar. Is there a way to add new calendar events on the iPhone and designate it as personal, to be stored and synced with either iTunes or mobileMe, but not pushed up to Exchange? Basically, is there any way to have Exchange take over less than 100% of my calendar?
Thanks in advance, and apologies if this has already come up, I couldn't find an on point post.

I don't think that's correct... in fact I'm sure it's not. I use gmail, and my contact information does not sync, over the air or otherwise. If you go to the mail/contacts/calendars setup screen on the phone, you'll see that the gmail account says "Mail" underneath it, indicating that it syncs mail only.
Is it possible that you did something else first to sync gmail with your computer's address book? Perhaps a gmail/outlook sync utility?
As for your question: yes, you can group contacts in exchange. In Outlook 2008 (instructions for '03 should be very similar), open your contacts. Click the pop-up arrow next to the "New" toolbar button and choose "Folder." Make sure "Folder Contains:" is set to "Contact Items." This creates a separate contact group which shows up as a separate group on the phone as well.

    Hi Dhanush,
Select the option Suppress Multiple Alerts of This Rule in alert rule. Also select the option Max. No. of Dels as 1 in the alert category.
    It will help.

  • Mail is not deleting trashed and 'junk' mail - it keeps re-appearing!

    Hi,
Whew! this one's driving me crazy! I've received a bunch of spam over the last 24 hours that I can't get rid of. I've marked it as Junk. I've dragged it to the Junk folder. I've erased Junk mail. I've deleted the spam. I've erased deleted mail. I've quit and restarted mail. I've cleared my email server. I've restarted the machine many times.
Every time I open mail... the Junk mail is back in my inbox. After deleting it, going to another mailbox, and returning to my in box, the junk is back....
The un-erasable junk total is over 116 now, and counting.
Is this some virus? Is anyone else having this problem? The spam is all from someone spoofing my domain (posing as someone from my domain). All of it purports to be from various mail delivery systems (such as Barracuda Spam Filter), and is coming from all over the world, USA, Britain and Germany...
    Help!

    Hi RThomas.
What type of mail account is this (POP, IMAP, .Mac)? If POP, what are your Preferences > Accounts > Advanced > Remove copy from server settings?
You may be able to get rid of those messages in Mail doing Edit > Cut (⌘X) (for best results do it with only one or a few messages at a time), but you may need to remove them from the server first. Does this account allow web access?
You may find the Account Info window useful to solve this problem -- choose Get Info (⌘I) from the Action menu (gear icon) located below the mailboxes list in the main Mail window.

  • Microsoft exchange and BlackBerry mail

I have recently started at a new company, we use Microsoft Exchange, my company mailbox has been working fine up until the point at which I activated the account on my BlackBerry. The problem is that messages sent to my microsoft mail box are no longer reaching the desktop mailbox but seem to be re-routed to my phone. (there is no duplication)
Internal mails between colleges and I reach my desktop mailbox but not my phone....
Our network administrator is lacking knowledge in this field, is there any quick fix?
I have also tried deleting my account off my BlackBerry, the mails seem to sit somewhere (not going to my desktop mailbox) until I reactivate my account on my BlackBerry, then they doenload to the phone mailbox.
    Pleae help!

    Update:
after two weeks of boggling, it seems that this combination works:
    - install MailForExchange(2.7.0)_S60_3_0.SISX
    - remove MailForExchange(2.7.0)_S60_3_0.SISX
    - install S60PR2_BlackBerry(6.28.1)_2.SISX first
    - install MailForExchange(2.7.0)_S60_3_0.SISX
But this effectivly kills Blackberry as you only get a "RimAv" icon in the menu

  • Problem syncing iphone to exchange but not w/ exchange to mac mail

I have been able to sync my macbook to my work email exchange account. I'm also able to connect to outlook through Safari on my iphone. I have not been able to sync my iphone 4 with my exchange email though. Any suggestions? Could the server be blocking my iphone access?

Make sure your system software is up to date.
Click the Apple  menu (top left in your screen) then click:  Software Update ...
You may need to reset the sync services folder.

  • Use of Notes with iphone and Mac Mail

I create notes on my iphone 4.
They appear in my Mac Mail, Mac OS X 10.7.5
When I move the note from my inbox to a folder, it disappears.
    Any suggestions?

To get what you appear to want, you need to upgrade to 10.8 where notes is a separate application. If you decide to upgrade here is a list of supported computers:

  • Separate business and personal contacts/calendar on Exchange enabled phone?

I'm a new iPhone user (3gsi) with Exchange support enabled. What I would like to do is manage my business and personal contacts and calendar separately with work items syncing with Exchange and personal items with something else (like Google Calendar/Contacts). Is it possible to separate this way and possibly even manage it all together using the existing calendar and contact apps? I am not interested in the MobileMe service.
Example - I add a personal contact and I dont want it to sync with Exchange, but Google contacts would be nice. Or I add a calendar item that I want to sync with Google calendar instead of Exchange.
    Thx!

With an Exchange account syncing business contacts and calendar events over the air, you can also sync personal contacts and calender events direct with a supported application on your computer via the iTunes sync process. You can view business and personal contacts and calendar events combined or separately on the iPhone.
With Windows, this can be with Outlook 2003 or 2007. With a Mac, this can be with the Address Book and iCal.
Or you can sync personal contacts and calendar events over the air with a MobileMe account while doing the same for business contacts and calendar events with an Exchange account.
You can access a Gmail account as an Exchange account via ActiveSync with the iPhone's Mail client, which provides for syncing personal contacts and calendar events over the air, but you can't access two Exchange accounts via ActiveSync with the iPhone's Mail client. This is not supported with ActiveSync with a Windows Mobile device either.

  • Mixing ECC and NECC (Non-ECC) RAM Modules

    Hi,
I have a G5 Dual Core 2.0 with a pair of 512Mb Non-ECC (NECC) RAM installed and I want to upgrade to 3Gb. I'm thinking of getting 2Gb ECC modules and discarding the 1Mb NECC installed. But I came across a phrase in the Apple Manual of my G5 that states "DO NOT MIX ECC and NON-ECC Memory Modules WITHIN A PAIR." Does that mean I can mix ECC and NECC within Memory Banks and NOT within a PAIR? Because in that case I won't have to discard my NECC 1Gb and have a mixed 3Gb Memory!? I'm afraid to actually try it so I would appreciate your insights. Thanks much.
    G5 Dual Core 2.0   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Yes. You can mix ECC and nonECC as long as you don't pair the ECC with the nonECC. The computer will just treat all RAM as nonECC.
You can keep the original memory as long as the two 512MB DIMMs are always paired with each other.

  • Sync iPad Calendar to Both Exchange and Outlook on Two Windows 7 PCs

I would like to sync my Outlook 2010/Exchange calendar from my computer at work with my iPad, and then sync my iPad with Outlook 2007 on my home computer. I'd like for the result to be one sync'd up calendar on each device.
I have my iPad set to sync Over The Air with my Exchange calendar from work. It syncs perfectly. I would like to also sync that Exchange calendar, now on my iPad, with my home computer. My home computer is the one that I sync my iPad with via iTunes. That computer runs Windows 7 & Outlook 2007. My home computer does not run exchange and Outlook 2007 at home is simply running as a local .PST file.
My problem has been that the Exchange calendar on the iPad does not sync with Outlook 2007 on my home computer. I have iTunes on my home computer configured to sync my calendar with Outlook 2007 on my home computer, but iTunes has created a second calendar on my iPad called "Calendar" under the "From My PC" heading in the Calendar app. My Exchange calendar shows up on my iPad as "Calendar" under my work email address "[email protected]". The two calendars do not appear to play nicely with each other. The From My PC Calendar only syncs items from my calendar in Outlook 2007 on my Home PC. The "[email protected]" (Exchange) Calendar only syncs with my work PC.
I'm looking for a solution that doesn't involve installing anything on my work PC, as technically that machine is locked down and I cannot add any programs.

I had my home computer set up to sync to work's Exchange server. It worked well, but I didn't like seeing work email messages and other programs trying to sync with my default Outlook folder, which was then the Exchange (& work related) .ost file. I know there are various ways to manage those problems using filters, view, subfolders, etc., but it was a hassle for me. I think it could work well for many other folks.
For now, I have published my work calendar and subscribed to that calendar on my home computer. So I have view only access to my calendar on my home computer (and I can add/edit calendar items on my iPad (or Outlook Web Access) when away from work). This is not quite what I wanted, but it may work.
It almost makes me long for the days when I used my Windows Mobile Treo to sync back and forth between exchange at work and outlook at home (but had many sync conflicts as a result).

  • IPad and iPhone mail sent items does not synch with exchange 365

This has been a longish term issue that vue ignored till now but...
I run exchange 365 hosted service from Microsoft, own domain.
It synchs all no issues with iPad and iPhone mail, contacts calendars etc all except sent items on mail.
My last synced sent items mail is 2012.
It tries to synch ie connecting etc, then fails, locking up mail synch for about an hour then on all folders.
Just want to be able to see sent items stuff

This was a user issue. The webmail account I have stored the Mails other folders under personal folders and there I found that my sent mail had been getting sync'd.
The answer is on the server not the OS Mail

  • Exchange and Mail: Password suddenly not recognized by server

    Hello Everyone,
About one month ago my Exchange account stopped working with mail. I checked with my IT department and they told me that everything was normal on their end. Apple came out with a software update appr. 2 weeks ago I believe (10.9.1). After performing the update, my Exchange account worked again.
Fast forward to 3 days ago... again... for no apparent reason, my mail acccount starts asking me for my password again for the Exchange Account. When I enter it however, it doesn't work. I completely deleted the account and tried adding it again and got the following message:
"Internet accounts couldn't log in to the Exchange Server "email.xxx.com". Make sure the user name and password you entered are correct, then click continue."
I've tried time and time again with no luck. When I contacted my IT guy again this time, he told me that they had never done anything the first time to try to fix this issue!
I have an iPhone and an iPad and have absolutely no issues with Exchange and my portable devices.
    Can anyone help? Thanks!

I still haven't found a solution to this problem. I purchased Office for Mac with Outlook 2011 because my IT guy told me that there were lots of people using Macs and that they used this program. It worked for 3 days and then I encountered the exact same problem. See below.
Mail could not be received at this time
The server for account "xxxxx" returned the error "Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password." Your username/password or security settings may be incorrect. Would you like to try re-entering your password?
I've asked my IT department and they have no idea what's going on. Apparently my IP address doesn't even show up on their servers. Can someone please help me?
    Thanks.

  • My iPhone 4S with iOS7 has stopped sending mail.  I have deleted the account (Exchange) and readded it to no avail.  Not being able to send mail is detrimental to me.

I have read the tips and all I can find is to delete the account and readd.  I have done so to no avail.  What are the other alternatives to solve this problem?  Thanks.

    hjf71 wrote:
Yes all the account settings were approved.  I can receive email just fine.  My contacts and calendar are up to date.  I just can't send.  The email disappears.  It's not in the outbox or sent items.  It's hosted exchange and works fine on my other devices.  Server names is exch2010.esfi.net hosted by Electronic Storefronts.
That sounds like a server side problem. Contact the Exchange account administrator.

  • Calendar does not sync via ActiveSync. Mail and Contacts work fine.

I recently started using ActiveSync to connect to my corporate Exchange server. Mail and contacts synchronize properly, but calendar items are not downloaded from the server. The iPhone can write to the calendar by adding a new appointment of accepting a new meeting request. I can also see the full list of calendars in my Exchange mailbox when using the iPhone. Simply put, the calendar items are the only part that's missing.
My IT team has confirmed that calendar items will sync to Windows Mobile devices using ActiveSync.
Here are the steps I've taken to solve the problem:
    1. I enabled and disabled calendar using the On/Off slider.
    2. I removed and reconfigured the Exchange account on the iPhone
    3. I confirmed that all calendar items in Exchange had the Message Class set to "IPM.Appointment"
    4. I restored the iPhone to factory settings and used a new test Exchange account to confirm that corrupted calendar items were not an issue.
    5. Confirmed that the capitalization of my e-mail address in the Exchange Account Info on the iPhone matches the primary SMTP entry in the Exchange GAL.

Guys, I did a bit of research with my other iPhone/Exchange - buddies and this is what we found out:
    1. Friend sends me an calendar event from his PC / Exchange Account
    2. Calendar event displays as tentative on both my iPhone and on my PC / Exchange Account
    3. I accept the calendar event on my PC / Exchange Account
    4. Calendar event turns to "busy" on my PC / Exchange Account
    5. Calendar event disappears from my iPhone
    6. I double-click the event on my PC / Exchange Account and click "Accept" again
    7. Calendar event reappears on my iPhone
Funny enough, this does not happen with all events - it seems to depend on the Exchange server and/or Outlook version in use. For those affected: Is your Exchange Server 2003 or 2007, and what version is the Exchange Server of the person who sent you the event in the first place?
