Not picking up paper to scan to computer

Hi- this printer does not pick up the paper when scanning to a computer. It did until last Friday.
I can copy and it picks up the source paper and makes copies.
I can scan to USB and it picks up the papers and scans to USB.
But if I scan to computer, it does not pick up the paper, It sits in the tray. I hear some wheels rolling but evidently it is not the pick-up-the-paper-from-the-tray wheels. I can scan off the glass no problem...but that is just one sheet. paper is seated properly on teh tray- the screen acknowledges its presdense with "Document loaded"
Anything I can try before calling for service? I wiped clean all rollers and paper separators and I powered off and then back on the equipment. Let me know and thank you in advance.

Thanks X-23 for a quick reply ) I will try your suggest procedures on this Saturday when the MacBook and the printer are free-up from work. I will let you know the results.

Thank you for the clarification. Are you having problems with the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) or the regular tray?
For the ADF I would suggest trying the ADF Does not Pick up Paper article.
For the regular paper trays I would suggest trying the Out of Paper Error article. While you may not be getting that error the troubleshooting in that article may help resolve your issue.

HP Officejet Pro X47 not picking up paper

My warranty expired after one year exactly two weeks ago. Suddenly the printer has stopped printing, as it does not pick up the paper any longer. Help. The printer should still be in very good condition. The console is stuck displaying " Now Printing" with the blue circle just spinning and there is never any output.

HP 2600N Not picking up paper

Hi, i have just serviced a HP 2600N as the colours were fading on prints. I took the printer apart and cleaned the mirrors and plastic lenses and is something i have done on a few of these printers now. One printer refuses to pick up paper however, and the cause appears to be a solenoid which is activated to allow the pickup roller to rotate. The solenoid is located behind the right hand side cover (as looking from the front of the printer) and is covered in blue insulation on all 3 printers i have serviced. Does anyone know if this part can be replaced and if so where from?

I see that you are having issues with the paper not feeding. I will certainly do my best to help you.
You can try and clean the pick up roller, it is also a replaceable part. I have provided a document with the steps for doing this in Solution three: Clean the pickup roller. Printer Does Not Pick Up or Feed Paper.

HP P1606 not picking up paper

I work at a small library. We have two HP P1606dn printers that were purchased to print labels for our books and materials but neither will pick up anything from the pickup trays. At first they both everything but over time first one quit picking up labels, followed soon after by its refusal to pick up paper and then eventually the other joined suit. I did manage to coax one of them back into printing paper but have had no luck with the other. What fixes can anyone recommend? Is the "pick up roller" an easy part to change and is that even the part that is failing?

Computers not listed when I press Scan then Computer

Photosmart C310a. When I press Scan then Computer on the printer control panel only one of the three computers on my home network is listed. The computer that is listed is running XP Home SP3. The computers that are not listed are running XP Pro SP3 and Win7 Pro 64 bit with all updates installed. What would prevent the other two computers from appearing in the list? Thanks.

HP Officejet Pro X47 dw MFP not picking up paper

When sending print job, everything seems fine, but the Printin job status icon keeps spinning at the bottom of the printer console, and the paper is not being picked up. Tries turning on and off several times, nothing changed.

The HP software required for Scan to Computer could not be located on this computer.

No scanning from the HP front panel. Get this from the HP utilities "The HP software required for Scan to Computer could not be located on this computer. Please download and install the latest HP recommended software for your device from http://www.hp.com/support, and then try again." I've downloaded, deleted and downloaded the drivers and i tried to let my mac get drivers from the printer. I have to go to the web do scan my flat bed.

Welcome back to the HP Support Forums! I understand you are not able to use the Scan to Computer feature with your HP Officejet 8625. Please follow the steps listed below:
Scrub/ Uninstall
• Open the Applications folder > HP or Hewlett Packard folder > HP Uninstaller
• Click continue, click on one of the printers in the list.
• * Only do this step if you do not have any other HP Printers. Hold down Control, Option and Command, While holding the three buttons down,
• Click uninstall.
Reset Printing System
1. Click the Apple icon ( ), and then click System Preferences.
2. In the Hardware section, click Print & Fax/Scan. The Print & Fax/Scan dialog box opens.
3. Right-click (or Ctrl +click) in the left panel, and then click Reset printing system…
4. Click OK to confirm the reset.
5. Type the correct Name and Password.
6. Click OK to reset the printing system. The Print & Fax dialog box shows no printer selected
Note: This will remove all printers in the print and Fax/Scan, any printer removed can be re-added later by clicking the plus (+) symbol..
Repair Disk Permissions
1.On the Dock, click Applications, and then click Utilities.
2.Double-click Disk Utility.
3.Highlight your hard drive/partition on the left (by default this is "Macintosh HD").
4.Click the Repair Disk Permissions button at the bottom of the window.
5.Once the repair is complete, restart the computer.
Restart the printer. Now you can download and install the printer software. Click on the link below to begin the download and follow the on screen instructions:

Photosmart 6520 all in one.does not pick up small photo paper

New printer,it will print on a4 paper,but will not pick up small6x4,I have taken all other paper out,and tried shutting off and restarting it,I even cleaned the rollers as suggested,still no result,I have only had this three weeks,it did print one picture off when I first tried it,but not now,would be very happy if someone could resolve this for me.

I am sorry to read about the issue you are having with your new Photosmart 6520 not picking up 4x6 paper. I understand you have cleaned the rollers and that did not resolve the problem. I have researched this and have found a couple of documents that I recommend you look at to ensure all of the print settings are correct when printing on a 4x6 or any other size you wish to print on.
I am unsure if you have a Windows or a Mac computer, therefore I will post 2 different links for you to look at depending on which operating system you have.

Photosmart C4180 does not pick up 10x15 photopaper from the photo paper cassette

What can I do to get the printer to pick up 10x15 photo paper from the photo paper cassette? It wil only print when feeding one piece of photo paper at a time. This is tedious and annoying. No problems with ordinary paper.

Here's what I did:
First I tried the Winsock reset in the Command prompt. Nothing changed.
Next, I tried the instructions on http://http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4123. The only other program that came up on the 'Winsock Providers' tab on the program was 2 Windows Live applications, which I can do without. So I deleted all Windows Live Applications.
I did the Winsock reset in the Command Prompt again and rebooted my comp.
Unfortunately, nothing has changed. iTunes keeps freezing at various stages of the sync, then shows the candy cane-striped bar with either the words 'Finishing sync' or 'Cancelling sync', before showing the Apple logo.
Sometimes, iTunes gets to the syncing stage - "Copying # of ####" - where it will trudge through the first, second and third tracks before flashing "Copying 4 of ####" for a split second and I catch "Cancelling sync" briefly before the Apple logo appears.
Again, I've repeated the steps I mentioned in my previous post. Does ANYONE know when the new version of iTunes is set to be released?! This one is driving me INSANE, to say the least!!

HP Photosmart Plus B209 - will not print photos - tray is not picking up the paper

The printer will not grab the photo paper when I attempt to print a picture. It works just fine when printing other things, such as text from WORD or something from the internet. Photo paper says "single sheet feed" on it, so I place one sheet in the tray.
Any ideas? Am I doing something incorrectly? Thanks

New iMac (10.9.4) & now my HP Photosmart 6520 "scan to computer" function does not work

Recently upgraded to a new iMac running 10.9.4. Printing works well from this computer and all other devices (iPad, iPhone, etc.). However, the "scan to computer" function does not work. In the "Scan" section of HP Utility when I click on "Scan to Computer" the error message reads "Scan to Computer Cannot Be Enabled. The software required for Scan to Computer could not be located on this computer. Please download and install the latest HP recommended software for your device from http://www.hp.com/support, and then try again.
Of course I have done this... twice... still no luck. Also ran Software Update and there was an update, but it made no difference.

Yes, did all that... in order. It did not resolve the problem. However, I did find what appears to be the answer. After re-installing the driver software DO NOT immediately follow the prescribed steps. Instead, quit the installer, restart the Mac, and an Apple software update will appear after restart. Install that software update, and even though the computer and software do not call for it, restart the Mac again. Only then add the printer and follow the balance of the steps. It works! Thank you for your help.
