Not picking up wifi signal on one of three Macs
We recently moved our computers, modem and airport to another room in our house. After the move one of our two desktop iMacs has been have trouble accessing the wi-fi. In order to get it to receive the wi-fi signal you must go to system preferences, network, assist me, then diagnostic. The network diagnostic box shows that the first three network status indicators, Airport, Airport Settings, and Network Settings all have green dots beside them. But the ISP, Internet, and Server are red. When you continue the three red ones then turn green and wifi access is restored but quite slow. The next time you return to the computer you have to go through the same process to access wifi. The airport signal strength bars are always full, so the computer is reading the wifi signal, just not able to access it. We have rebooted, changed the network name and password and other things as per our phone apple support session, and still it's not fixed. Interestingly, the other two computers in the house are not having any of these troubles. I'm wondering if something happened to the computer internally when it was carried, on it's side, from one room to the other. Any thoughts?
Is there anyone with any suggestions? PLEASE!

The iphone works fine other wise i just really want it to go on wi fi. We just got new wi fi too and all of our other apple products go on the wi fi just fine. I dont know if its because its newer or what but my brothers 1st gen ipod goes on wi fi just fine.

Are you testing in the same room as the TC?
Power cycle the TC.. does it show up now?
Has it ever showed up .. ie is this a problem that just started from an existing setup, or has never worked?
Is the TC new? If old how old?
If you continue to have issues.. setup the TC from iMac and preferably using ethernet.
Change the wireless names to SMB compatible ones, short no spaces, pure alphanumeric.
Use WPA2 Personal security only.
Then set the wireless channels manually.. try 11, 6, 1 for 2.4ghz and try 36 or 40 at 5ghz.

Airport card not picking up any signals after IP configuration changed
Just had cable internet installed in my apartment, and in the course of setting up the IP configuration for the built-in ethernet connection, my airport card has stopped recognizing wireless networks in my building. Before I changed these settings, the card was working, and there are several networks in the building that it recognized. Now, it recognizes none. The menu appears in the top bar, and I can turn the airport on and off, but it simply is not picking up any signals whatsoever.
I have tried a handful of tactics, including changing the Airport TCP/IP configuration in several different ways, rebooting several times, and even removing and reinserting the Airport card.
For info: I'm using an iBook G3 with OS 10.2.8. (I know, pretty old, but it's still chugging along...)
Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated!Not sure. What's strange is that the very same computer was picking up signals (not accessing them b/c they were all password protected), recognizing networks in the area at least, before I played with the other IP configuration settings. Now it picks up none. It shows that there are none in the area, even though I know that there are.
Also, often, when I click on the Airport icon in the menu bar, the computer hangs for up to a minute before the menu actually pops up.
I have an Airport Express unit that I have hooked up to the cable modem, and my Airport card won't even recognize that signal. I'm just not sure what I changed that made it go haywire. I've been using this computer on wireless networks for the entire time I've owned it. Never had this problem before yesterday.

Try resseting the network settings in settings>general then go to reset a the bottom.
Then reset NETWORK settings. -
I just bought a used macbook pro, turned it on and it will not pick up wifi connection n my house that my old lap top has done very fast and easy wifi connection. What do i have to do to log on to internet with wifi with my macbook pro?
That could be the reason they were selling the old macBook Pro. Does the network utility even see any WIFI networks? If it doesn't, and you know they exist, something with the WIFI might have failed. Can you connect using the wired ethernet port?
You might have to take it to an Apple store or an AASP for a checkup. -
I have changed to AT&T U-verse, which has a new modem and router combined. Safari 5.1.10 will not recognize the wifi signal, but Foxfire will. What settings do I need to change on Safari?

The first thing I would check is to make sure that the router is using the recommended settings to get online. Another troubleshooting step is to create a new Network Location and then join your network to see if that changes things.

My ipod touch will not detect any wifi signals but others devices such as my laptops; do connect without a problem. I restored my ipod and updated it and still no wifi signals are being detected.
Go to your ipod touch wireless settings chose your network and right beside there is button looks like ">" click on that check the dhcp what IP are you getting? do you get any ip? if you do your ipod touch should work with wireless no problem. I have an older Power PC G5 desktop mac. It has 1GB DDR and SD Ram and Dual 1.8 GHz. The problem is there is no wifi signal. I think I need an airport card to insert in order for this model to pick up wifi. How do I know which airport card to use?
Your Power Mac G5 had an option to have an 802.11b/g AirPort Extreme Card. You basically have two choices: 1) Search the Internet for vendors that still provide this card, or 2) Get a wireless USB adapter that supports both 802.11b/g, but also the newer 802.11n standard. Newer mac laptops pick up wifi signal, why won't mine
I work upstairs from a shop that has public wifi, but my g4 ti powerbook won't pick up the signal while newer mac laptops sitting beside me will. What could be going on? I can get most signals elsewhere out and about.
I can walk out the door of my shop, sit on the stoop and receive a signal from a hot spot across the street. Walk around the corner and get another apple signal, I can use my powerbook at home perfectly with my extreme. And as I said before the shops signal is definitely not password protected. I have tried deleting com.apple...utility.plist in preferences. Kind of out of my expertise zone there. But found when i was having problems with mac help not opening it was a preference thing to be deleted that helped make it work.

IPhone 4 no longer picks up WiFi signal
Has anyone else experienced this?
My iPhone 4 which is less than 2 years old, no longer picks up WiFi unless it is right beside the router. This means I am having to rely on 3G signal in my own home! No other electronic devices in my home are struggling with this issue. This is still an issue when I am in other places with WiFi, the phone ocassionally recognizes that there is WiFi available but by the time it starts to connect all the WiFi signal has been lost again.
I have tried:
- turning my phone off and on.
- updating my phone
- turning on and off my router
- searching for a solution to this online, but it seems I am alone in this issue.
Help! Please! What should I do?I restored my iPhone and nothing has changed except I have lost several hours of my life trying to make sure everything is backed up and then trying to reset all my apps.
I restarted the iPhone as a new device, still no wifi connection or ability to recognize any wifi networks. -
IPad iMessage not recognizing my wifi signal
When I try to send a text message on my iPad using wifi, it asks me to sign in. I get a message saying "could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again". I'am able to use the wifi signal through my iPad for other functions.
Sounds like it's not an issue with your Internet connection; most likely something going on with either the account or the server. Is it asking you to sign in with your Apple ID? Are you able to sign into the Manage function at appleid.apple.com ?

*BOOT CAMP* Windows XP not picking up wireless signal on Lion
I just got a new iMac two days ago and was able to install Windows XP from my old Dell Latitude boot disk. Yes, I thought it was odd... But it worked. I do understand that Lion only provides Windows 7 drivers in Boot Camp Assistant, but I was able to install Boot Camp 3.0 and 3.1 drivers for XP, right from the Apple Support Boot Camp driver link.
Well... My main issue lies here... When I switch to the XP side, it wont pick up a wireless signal. That's all I need so that I can start updating Windows from the internet, but it is not picking anything up.
I'm assuming that I am just missing the driver, but like I said, I installed the drivers provided by Apple. This is very frustrating and am not sure what to do.
Can someone PLEASE point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.
