Not playing playlists in order displayed.

When I pull up a playlist and select the first song in the playlist it plays normal, but after the song finishes instead of going to song 2 in the list it will jump around to a random song. As if shuffle was on. But with the iPhone you have the shuffle button up top to do that. Any ideas on a fix? I am using the latest firmware.

Actually there are TWO places to enable shuffle. When you look at a list it gives option as first entry which will pick a random song and enable shuffle mode. But once you do that once, shuffle mode is now toggled ON.
Go play any song. When playing tap center where the art is. Another toolbar will appear up top with progress and Shuffle and Repeat options. If blue, it is on, if white, it is off. If you ever tapped Shuffle from list before, you turned shuffle on thus it is still on.

  • Ipod doesn't play playlist in order

I got a new Ipod about 5 months ago and ever since I got it, the songs I put in playlists do not play in the order I put them. This also happens if I get new songs and add them to the playlist they are skipped over until the end (if they play at all.) Why does my ipod just randomly shuffle my playlists? I checked the settings and there is nothing I can figure out to do. Please help. I gave away my old ipod when I got this new one now i'm regretting it. Thanks!

Try deleting the songs off your ipod and then plugging it into itunes and re-syncing them to the device, whenever my ipod plays up with the music, thats what i do, but if in your case this doesn't work, and this feature is really necesary for you, restore/reset your ipod.

  • Shuffle does not play playlist in the order set in itunes, when play in order is selected

My new shuffle does not play the songs on a playlist in the correct order (as they appear in itunes), my previous shuffle allowed me to see tha tracks and swith the order.
Why won't this new shuffle play in the order I want (shuffle isn't selected)
Is there a way to see the tracks and order loaded onto the shuffle?
    Thanks
    Mark

I FINALLY GOT IT! after months of relentless synching/autofilling problems on my 4th generation i figured out the solution.
this is what i did: plugged in ipod on off mode~>manually deleting my ipod's songs~>restored factory settings~>unchecked automatic synch~>made a new playlist with exactly the songs & order i wanted for my ipod (just dragged old playlists into the new one)~>then autofilled that new playlist into my ipod. came out like a charm! (before u autofill UNCHECK random add songs)
my ipod always ended up autofilling/synching my customized playlists wrong or it would automatically do my music library (and that was way unorganized), so this worked.

  • Audiobooks not playing in proper order

I have an iPod Classic, 80GB, on up to date software (v 1.1.2, according to iTunes, which is on v 12.1.0.50). I have several audiobooks, some of which were loaded into iTunes from CDs rather than being downloaded from the iTunes Store. The iPod apparently syncs properly with the iMac, which is on Yosemite 10.10.2. (I don't think the issue is anything to do with the OS, since it was evident on the last two OSes as well.
The issue is that on the iPod under the Audiobooks menu the books are displayed and play in alphabetical order of the names of the tracks, not in the book order. Some of the track names are 'Track 1, Track 2', etc. This makes for interesting variety, but it's difficult to follow the plot!
I have tried resyncing after changing the sort order in iTunes, but nothing seems to make any difference. I have worked around the issue by creating playlists and merging tracks, but this is less than satisfactory.
Am I doing something wrong or is the iPod faulty? Thanks for any help offered.

Unchecked tracks are skipped during normal track to track playback and are usually excluded from syncing to devices. I use them for things like bonus interview tracks which I will keep in my library but don't want to play accidentally when listening to the album. There is a preference to hide the checkboxes if you don't have a use for them.

  • Shuffle will not play podcasts in order

I have downloaded a French Lesson podcast - which I found through iTunes. No matter how I import the lessons (i.e. directly from the library, or if I make a playlist for the lessons) the will NOT play in order on my iPod Shuffle. I DO have it switched to "play in order" - not shuffle songs. I have rearranged the lessons many times so that #1 on the playlist is Lesson 1, #2 is Lesson 2 and so on. But when I go to play them, the shuffle will start randomly on lesson 9 or 5 - even if I hold down the button to restart it at the beginning. So basically, I never know what lesson I'm in and it's very frustrating.
    Can anyone help?

Following is just a default description which applies to most. There are many differences in how it actually works on specific systems, and all sorts of ways to futz with the system to try to make it work differently. Keeping in mind that YMMV:
    a. Podcasts are one of the special classes in iTunes. The only sort possible with Podcasts in iTunes, as podcasts, is on release date. That's the only column you can click on to reorder things.
    b. All else being equal, podcasts will only play on the iPS in the same order that they are ranked in iTunes itself.
    c. By 'in iTunes' I mean in the Podcasts playlist. You can re-order things in pretty much whatever way you want to in playlists you create yourself, but that won't (in most cases) affect the play order.
    As for some other things:
    1) Podcasts won't play at all unless you're in the 'Play In Order' position. That doesn't have any actual meaning with its order or play, however.
    2) You don't hold any button down to restart it at the beginning. A quick triple-click of the Play button does that.

  • IPod no longer playing playlists in order

I'm encountering the weirdest problem with my iPod Touch. After several months of flawless operation, suddenly after a sync a couple of days ago, every playlist plays in shuffle mode. The songs are listed in the proper order, but it refuses to play them in order. No matter which song I press to start playing, it never plays the next one in the list. I did a full restore, and nothing changed. Does anyone have any insight into this behavior?
FWIW, I really never liked the "Shuffle" approach used in this iPod. The Nano and previous iPod models had a shuffle mode in the main menu. The Touch requires you to press the "Shuffle" button at the top of the playlist, but then you never get to see what order the shuffle will be, unless you go the very limited list view. It just shows you the songs as they play rather than showing the restructured list of songs. But whatever, I'm just really annoyed that now it won't play the songs in any order except shuffling them. This is bad, and I need to fix it, as I DJ social dance events every week using my iPod.

I solved the problem by doing a hard reset as a new iPod instead of restoring, giving the iPod a new name. Still annoyed that it happened at all, but playlists are now playing in the order the songs are listed.

  • My iPhone 4 is not playing songs in order even though shuffle is off. How do I stop this from happening?

I have the shuffle option off on my iPhone 4 but when I listen to an album it does not play the songs in order. How do I stop this from happening?

  • Concept albums do not play in correct order on ipod

Imported concept CD, Chicago 2 album, into iTunes and then put it on my 6th gen iPod Nano.  Shuffle is off and yet tracks do not play in order on iPod but they do play in order on iTunes.  Help--this is driving me crazy!

Looking in your iTunes library, do the songs have the *track number* field completed, are they correct and is the "total number of tracks on the album" also filled in?
There are various ways to see and change this information:
a.) *View/As list* (it's easier to see what you need at this time) and then *View/View options* and put a tick in the box named *Track No.* This will show you the track numbers in a column for each song and you can see which ones are missing.
If any songs or albums need changing:
    b.) select song, *File/Get info/Info>track number X*
    c.) select whole album *File/Get info/<yes>/>track number of X*
If that is not the problem, then it possibly the menu (on the iPod) that you've chosen to use to see the album. Which one have you used?

  • Remote App not playing Playlists

I can't use the Remote app to play playlists. I believe I was able to a few weeks ago, but I think this problem popped up after the 2.1 update (not sure, though). Every time I attempt to play an individual or shuffle a playlist, I receive this message:
"An unknown error occurred. Please check your library and try again."
I've reinstalled the app already but that didn't seem to change anything. Any suggestions?

  • Play List not playing playlist

I read one other post about this issue and hopefully you guys can help.
Recently one (only one) of my PlayLists quit working. I mean, I go into play list "A" and hit "play" but only one song will play. Other play lists work fine.
    I have rest my iPod.
I have renamed this play list.
I have copied file from this play list to a new one.
    But nothing seems to work.
The other post that I found about this was not an iPod video. It seems to have something to do with "shuffle" and the newest versions of software.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Sincerely,
    Paul in Arizona, USA

I am having similar problems ... before and after the new update (7.0.1). Playlists still are not playing. They show up, the items are in the playlist, but they do not play one after another. I have to click them each individually.
I did note that this occurs with playlists consisting of podcasts.

  • Why does my phone not play music in order

When I play music off my Iphone it always skips to different parts of the song, such as it will play the middle bit first, then the begining of the song, then the end. When I play the songs on my iTunes it works perfect, soon as i drag a song on to my phone it does not work, can anyone explain to me how i can fix this problem?

What's this "paying them in the" business? I don't "use an app". I go to a site. See a video I want to play. I select play. I am directed to update to the latest in Flash at Abobe. I go there, and I am told that Flash Videos will not play on th iPad. That's like having a stereo that won't play only classical music. Or a TV that censors certain channels. • Playlist is not playing songs in order

I recently synched my ITouch with my IMAC.  After the synch process, I noticed when playing a playlist on my ITouch that the songs were being played at random.  I did not press shuffle.  I did not have this issues when I synched the ITouch previously.

Make sure that Shake-to-Shuffle is turned of in Settings>Music
Confirm that the Shuffle is turn off ion the Now Playing screen. Tap the crossed arrows icon on the Now Playing screen until it is white for no Shuffle
    Next
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Itunes not playing songs in order

    Hi,
Ever since upgrading to 11.0 iTunes won't play an album. I doubleclick to play the first track of either an album or in a playlist and then after the song is done it doesn't move on to the next song. I have to go back and doubleclick again. Also, clicking the "next" button doesn't work either, it just stops the song. The shuffle is not on neither is the repeat icon.
Is this a bug that needs to be fixed? Because at this moment I cannot listen to an album in sequence on my computer and that seems like pretty standard stuff that a media player should be able to do.
When in my Music library, I click on a song and then click next and it takes me way down the alphabet, it will play that whole song and then it will go to another track further down my library. And then back up again to the second song it went to and then just loop between these 4 albums. I have 50 GB of songs in my library so howcome it's jumping bewteen only 4 of them??

Have you tried checking all the songs you wish to play? Normally the collumn for placing a check is the first on the left. This worked for me.

  • IPod does not play songs in order - iPod Shuffle 1GB

When I drag songs to the iPod it adds them to the end of the list and then I sort by song name. When I play them on the iPod they are played at the end. When I hook up the iPod they are listed in the right order but that's not how they are played.
Does anyone know why this is happening and how to get around it?
