Not Posting with X800XE PT

Please help.  This is very frustrating.  My hardware is posted in my signature, but to sum up, I have a Radeon X800XE PT(AGP not PCI express)(which I paid an arm and a leg for when it first came out) and I just bought a new motherboard...well, refurbished, but new to me...because I wanted to upgrade my processor from an older AMD 64 processor to the newer AMD 64 4000+.
My Problem is that upon system power-up, a long beep from my system speaker is being repeated with the corresponging message flashing in red across the top of my moniter "You have not connected a power cable to your video card.  Please see "Getting Started" in the user's manual for proper installation."  I assure you, the power cable is connected to the video card.  I have tried multiple configurations, directly from power supply with no other voltage draws, directly to power supply with HDD voltage draw before/after video card hookup, etc.
After what seems like an eternity wading through forums and tech support sites, I believe the solution to be BIOS related.  There have been updates to MSI's AMI BIOS that seem to fix ATI's 9600SE's recognization, similiar to my problem, so I think an updated BIOS from what I assume to be a version 1.0 on my motherboard at the moment will fix my problem as the mobo will correctly recognize my video card.
MSI's site only has BIOS updates for this motherboard starting with verson 3.0.  Is that going to work with my version 1.X that I have on my motherboard right now?  Also, how do I flash the BIOS without being able to boot-up?  I can't get past the flashing red error message that appears before anything else would after power-up.
Please, I'm at the mercy of the forum gurus.  Help!
-Thank you in advance for your time

Checked against a friend's motherboard and video card.  AGP slot is OK, bios posts with his card in same slot.  Card has same error message when installed in his computer.  Same error message even when using my power supply solely connected to my graphics card installed in his computer.  No excuse for not having enough power available to the card.  So, the motherboard is A-OK and ATI will be hearing from me again tomorrow.  Thank you, Dr, for your recommendation.  seems the card itself isn't recognizing power supplied to it via it's power supply hookup.  strange though, it worked just fine with my other motherboard...

  • MS-6580 (845PE Max VER 2.0) not POSTING with 2GB of DRAM -- POST with only 1GB

Ok I am currently fixing a client's PC, he wanted a RAM upgrade from 1GB to 2GB. I purchased a Komputerbay 2GB (2 X 1GB) DDR DIMM (184 PIN) 333Mhz DDR333 PC2700 kit, it was the cheapest I could find. The problem is, the system will not POST with the two 2GB modules installed, only with 1GB on either DIMM slot. I've tested them both RAM modules, and they work. Before, the PC had 2x 512MB DRAM installed, and it was working, so I don't think there is anything wrong with the DIMM slots.
When I start the system, I get two paused beeps, and some weird noise, not sure what is.
I've read the motherboard manual, and it says the maximum support is 2GB DDR 333mhz.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Does it post with only one 2GB dimm installed?
    I don't believe the board/chipset will support 4GB(2x2GB).
    http://eu.msi.com/product/mb/845PE-Max2.html#/?div=Detail
I don't know where you're getting 4GB, I never said anything about 4GB - I must have made a type but what I mean was: The motherboard wouldn't post with two 1GB modules (2GB) as specified to be the maximum according to the manual. It would only post with 1GB(1x1GB or 2x512MB) or 1.5GB(1x1GB + 1x512MB) of RAM.
No worries, the problem is resolved now.

  • Reports are not posting with report repository webserver configured for Sin

    Hi Everyone,
We have configured Single Signon on our Test environment (UADB1) using Sun Authentication Manager. Everything went well, we can login using our LDAP accounts except for one thing. The reports are not posting to the report repository.
Our setup goes like this. We have used only one webserver for login and for report repository purposes. SSL certificate was configured in the webserver and we are using https in the report node. Both URLs https://dv001.test.com:8450 and http://dv001.test.com:8400 were configured for Single Signon.

Below is the error I am getting. If I will use another webserver which is not the Single Signon configured as report repository the reports are posting. So, I am thinking this has something to do with the Single Signon setup and SSL. ANy idea? Thanks.

  • New H97 Gaming 3 will not POST with i5 4690 - Need an old CPU to reflash BIOS?

I just finished assembling my new computer with an i5 4690, H97 Gaming 3, 8GB Kingston DDR3 RAM, 600W PSU. I ordered everything from Amazon a week ago.
When I turn it on, it does not POST or beep, it just power cycles every few seconds. I don't know what BIOS version it has because nothing shows on the screen. I believe I an old version of the BIOS that is incompatible with the i5 4690 but I need the CPU to work to update the BIOS..
I'm not sure I am reading the compatibility list correctly. Are CPUs listed as "7918v10.zip" working on stock BIOS?
    msi.com/support/mb/H97-GAMING-3.html#support-cpu
I will install an old CPU, reflash BIOS with current version, and replace the CPU with my i5 4690.
I read on Tom's Hardware that the Pentium G3258 is compatible with stock BIOS. Is this true?

  • P43 Neo3-F will not post with Vertex SSD attached

Without my OCZ Vertex SSD attached, my rev. 1.1 P43 Neo3-F with bios v2.4 acts like a normal mainboard. As soon as attach my Vertex SSD, it freezes during POST. If I bring up the boot menu during POST and pick the SSD, I get a blinking cursor and no post. I tried several of the regular SATA (non-Jmicron) ports but the same result.
Do I have to change the SATA mode on the SATA ports for an SSD to work? I think I remember seeing that your port should be set to IDE mode for this SSD in the OCZ forums. Can someone tell me where in the bios I could find this option? I'm having a lot of trouble finding stuff in this bios.
If that is not the case... there is one newer bios I could flash too. I read the directions and it says don't flash from floppy - which I've already done. Do I really have to go throught that RAMDRIVE stuff it discusses or is flashing from floppy okay as long as the floppy is "good". I know of the USB stick method but won't be using that.
But I have trouble believing that a P43 mainboard would be incompatible with an SSD. What's odd is that I didn't have this problem until I installed WinXP on the SSD. I could see that interfering with booting but why would that interfere with POSTing?

I flashed the bios to the very latest for the 1.1 version... the 2.5 bios but no help. I now have WinXP installed and it loads but the BIOS chokes on the SSD and there is a 25 second wait followed by about 10 second black screen and then the desktop just magically appears - no XP progress bar ever seen. Whenever the SSD is attached to the board, it lets out a strange chirp sound after the good post beep.
I tried installing XP on the SSD on my DFI Blood Iron and it works perfectly. I tried changing every related bios option on the MSI board I could find but nothing helps.
Anybody here running a Vertex on this board?

  • MSI P67A-GD65 Not Posting, unsure of beep code meaning

Just swapped out my old K9A platinum for a P67A-GD65 and I can't seem to get it to post. I'm getting a beep code of five beeps (long ones maybe? google indicates "process error") but I'm not sure what that means. Pulled the video card, tried my two sticks of ram in slot 1 one at a time, disconnected every device but still getting the same code. Any ideas on what might be causing this?
Edit: Tried clearing the CMOS as well but no luck

    MSI R5770 Hawk Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 graphics card

It seems I'm not the only one having weird issues with this board. I have the exact same board, v1.8 BIOS and Gskill F3-17000CL9D-8GBXLD memory.
If I enable the XMP profile for this memory, this system will not post. It does not matter if I raise the DRAM voltage and I/O (memory controller) voltage to their acceptable limits, it does not matter if I manually enter in the timings of the memory specified on the box. XMP = no post.
So after disabling XMP I kept the memory at 1600mhz, which worked fine. I decided to try 1866mhz and a little more voltage. This seemed to work fine...for awhile. This morning my system would not post. I had to clear the CMOS (not use the jumper but literally remove the battery). Ever since then my system will BSOD after a few minutes on startup unless I manually enter in my memory timings (I tried two sticks from different vendors).
I know I don't have bad memory, and the fact is that this board will not post with vendor specified settings.
All I can suggest is to pull the CMOS battery and try one stick of memory.

  • 890FXA-GD70-Not Posting and Memory Issues

Purchased new 890FXA-GD70 board over the weekend and I am having problems after new build. Board will not post with 2 stick of Corsair DDR3 4GB PC1600 in slots 1 and 2. I removed one stick in slot 2 and board posted. I installed all drivers and Win 7 pro and added the second stick into slot 2 and will not post again. I moved the 2GB stick to slot 3 and the computer boots and seems to run fine. Should'nt DDR3 be run in slots 1 and 2?
    System
    CPU-AMD Phenom II x4 945

    Video Card-EVGA GTS250 512MB
Hard Drives-Western Digital Black Edition  500Gb
    OS-Windows 7 Professional
    Power Supply-Corsair 750

After checking the boards and google search, it appears that several other people are having the same issue. If the memory sticks are placed in dimm1 and dimm3 the board seems to post and runs fine. But that will not produce dual channel memory. Should I change memory to another brand? What is the best memory for this board. The computer has been running all day and seems to be stable but, just worried that memory is still incorrect and only have 10 days to return to Frys. I have also flashed the bios to 1.6! It appears that after reading several other post on this forum, they had to return the board, could I have a bad board?

  • Pure craziness: W530 will post with a DIMM in slot 1 **or** 3, but not both.

I've been going nuts here, so I apologize in advance if this email sounds a litted harried.
I have two identical W530s in front of me. Both of them are i7-3820QM and are intended to support up to 32GB of RAM. So I went and ordered 32GB of RAM from Crucial and it showed up this afternoon. I promptly installed it all in machine A because I was in the middle of doing some work on machine B. Everything was fine with machine A.
After I finished my work on machine B I decided to move the four DIMMs over there for various reasons; machine B will be there final destination. I stuck them in, making sure to seat them nicely. The machine refused to post. I pulled a couple out. The machine refused to post. I put them back in machine A. Machine A posted. Something fishy was up with machine B.
To make a long story short, read the title of this message. This is seriously one of the weirdest things I have ever encountered with a piece of hardware. If you have all four DIMMs installed, the machine does not post. If you remove **only** DIMM 1, the machine posts. If you remove **only** DIMM 3, the machine posts. Slots 2 and 4 work just fine; whether they are empty or full or partially full doesn't effect a **bleep** thing. I've also tried this with 4GB DIMMs instead of 8GB DIMMS; same deal.
Just to be ridiculously clear, here are he configurations that work and those that don't. "x" means that slot is empty.
    x x x x - fails, beeps (obviously)
    x x x 4 - works
    x x 3 x - works
    x x 3 4 - works
    x 2 x x - works
    x 2 x 4 - works
    x 2 3 x - works
    x 2 3 4 - works
    1 x x x - works
    1 x x 4 - works
    1 x 3 x - fails silently
    1 x 3 4 - fails silently
    1 2 x x - works
    1 2 x 4 - works
    1 2 3 x - fails silently
    1 2 3 4 - fails silently
**bleep** is going on here? The BIOS isn't even giving error beeps in the failure modes. If I'm somehow being a total moron, please let me know; that is so much more satisfying than the idea of a machine that can't use all its RAM slots because of some weird hardware bug.
    Thanks!

OK, so you've contacted service for repair on this system? I think that you've exhausted all user actions to correct.

    Hi,
Check the Credit Memo document whether G/L tab is there & whether any G/L account is entered ?
I think instead of cancelling the MIRO document they might have posted a vendor credit memo manually by specifying a consumption GL.
