Not printing: AEX + Win XP + HP LaserJET 1022

Hello all
I have received a great deal of information from browsing these forums before, but I'm a first-timer when it comes to questions.
I have two laptops connected to an Airport Express. The first is a Powerbook G4, the second is a Sony Vaio running Win XP Pro. I have a HP LaserJet 1022 connected via USB to the Airport Express. My problem, in short, is that I can't print to the HP 1022 from the Sony Vaio.
It may help if I tell you what does work (which is almost everything). Both computers talk to the AEX fine, and are connected to the internet through it fine. The Powerbook prints to the HP 1022 fine as well (both directly and when it is connected to the AEX). The Sony Vaio prints to the HP 1022 when it is directly connected, but not when it is connected to the AEX.
I have followed the instructions in the AEX handbook: creating a new port, adding a printer, etc. Creating the printer seems fine, but printing to it doesn't.
Is there anything that anyone can suggest pls?
Many thanks in advance,
AndrewL

  • HP ENVY 5530 will NOT print in win 8.1

New HP ENVY 5530 wireless printer bought 2 days ago. Will NOT print a single document in Windows 8.1. It's scanning perfectly, I can also print from my Android HP eprint App perfectly. The printer is showing as connected and working properly (as evidenced by printing ability from other device).
The printer acknowledges I'm trying to print a Word doc, the printer message box, when clicked, shows me the document has been sent to the printer yet it sits there for about 3 - 4 seconds then ...DISAPPEARS and no document comes out the printer.
I have done everything I can think of....And, looking at the printer properties, it seems to have created its own dedicated Port which shows as "WSD...long number etc" Please help. Thanks!

UPDATE: I am utterly discouraged, frustrated and pretty annoyed now. Windows 8 and 8.1 are obviously the cause ofserious issues with HP ENVY 5530 (and other HP printers!) I have been on the phone since 11/26/13 and spoken to no less than 6 different people, one of which was a supervisor (Jay) at the HP Total Care Tech Support dept. My issue has slowly been escalated to the Lead Stream Dept. which was of no concrete help! I just got off the phone with one of the engineers (name: Sanal, in India) and he could not resolve the issue ater uninstalling, reinstalling and cleaning up the registry, checking the spooler etc etc. His advice was to call my ISP Comcast and get them to change the 'channel' to 11 as the printer works best under channel 11....?!?! WHY? I am not about to include another party to add to my issue! I think I need to take this printer back and buy one that I have researched and know for a fact works perfectly under Win 8.1!!!! I am so angry at this minute! How is this in god's name possible not to have a patch for this APPARENTLY COMMON issue your HP newer model printers are having with win 8 and 8.1??? I was reassured each and every time the issue would be resolved during each and every call I made! No one can resolve the inability of the printer and laptop to communicate. It shows are connected, online, functioning, is set up and installed properly.... it will scan, copy and even print docs from my Android YET NOTHING will print not even a test page from my Acer Laptop which is less than 10 months old!! HP scan doctor cannot figure out what is wrong either. Its test page does not print, yet its INTERNAL test page printed just fine. SMH.....sigh.....

  • Hp LaserJet 4100 will not print in Win 7 with usb to parallel cable

Our church has recently upgraded all of the desktop computers with Dell Inspirons with Win 7 64 bit.  We have a Hp Laserjet 4100 that we have purchased a Tripp Lite U206-006 usb to parallel cable.  The driver for the cable appears to install and the port location for that usb printing support is Port_#002.Hub_#002.  It appears that the driver that is installed is from Microsoft and is Driver 6.1.760.16385.  I have also tried Hp's upd for both pcl 5 and pcl 6 and a couple of versions that appear after windows update has updated the drivers.  Nothing allows for printing.  When I delete/remove each of the manually installed drivers and have windows scan for hardware changes, the driver that is automatically installed is the HP LaserJet 4100 PcL6.  I have read most of the various posts in the forums that come up when googling the subject, but have yet to get any indication that there is any data being sent.  Have used the trouble shooter which reports fixing the problem with the usb to parallel driver and then the printer, but nothing seems to work.  Help

USB-Parallel converters can be problematic.  The models listed in posts flagged here have been verified by users to work with 64 bit Windows 7.

  • Photosmart c6150 not printing in Win 7

I am running WIndows 7 64 bit and I have installed the latest HP drivers for the Photosmart C6150 and it installs correctly. The HP print test page runs fine in wireless and USB. For some reason any windows based print job goes to the spooler and then diappears without printing. I can't even generate a test page from Printer Properties in Windows. The scan function works fine. Any ideas? I opened up all the TCP and UDP ports. Really strange.
    Thanks

    Hi @wa7dxq,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I noticed that your software always fail when using the HP Print and Scan Doctor, with your HP Photosmart c6180, running Windows 7. I am happy to help with this scanning issue!
For further assistance, I will need to know some more information:
If the printer is connected, Wireless, Ethernet, or USB.
If the printer is able to make copies.
If the power cable is plugged into a surge protector, or directly to the wall outlet. Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector. This applies to Inkjet printers as well.
In the meantime, I would suggest to try the following:
Uninstall the software. Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Clean boot the computer. How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Re-install using the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows.
Hope this helps and hope to hear from you soon!

  • Can't print from HP Win 7 64bit notebook to laserjet 1022 via wireless router

I've been able to always print from an XP notebook, but now I can't print from an HP Win 7 64 bit notebook to a Laserjet 1022 installed on an XP desktop via wireless router. Looking for a driver that I can't find anywhere. Followed all the forum help instructions that looked like it would work to no avail. Doesn't seem to be a Win 7 64 bit driver for the 1022 model, (not 1022n).

  • Printing Problem with HP LaserJet 1022 and OS 10.4

I am having a problem printing one page of a document on my HP LaserJet 1022 with OS 10.4. All other documents seem to be printing fine, but when I try to print one particular page of a 90 page WORD doc, that page consistently comes out with a big black streak across it and it does something to the printer because all the lights start flashing.
I have powered off, unplugged, reset the printer subsystem, reinstalled the printer driver, and even tried to print on my laptop, and the same thing keeps happening. The document printed for me fine a few weeks ago.
Any suggestions on a work-around for this or a permanent solution? I really need to print this page on my printer ASAP. Thank you.

The page looks perfect in preview and as a PDF. I can't print from the PDF, however, because it shrinks the text and expands the margins ...
Something's fishy. Save as PDF should result a file that looks exactly, precisely, like what you'd get if you printed directly to your printer.
I suspect your Word document has been corrupted by a few bytes of random data that is causing your printer to go nuts. Try cutting that portion out of the document, and pasting it in a new blank document so you can incrementally isolate the damage.
This isn't going to be as easy as it sounds, because when the PostScript printer driver encounters the errant code in the Word document, it's essentially telling the printer "now, go to the top of this page, print a nasty black smudge, and then crash." You might have to cut a whole page before and after the suspected corruption. If you're lucky you might be able to cut the portion then paste it right back as "unformatted text". Try that.

  • My HP LaserJet 1022 does not work with my new computer with Windows 7. Can you help?

I just purchased an HP p6803w CPU that runs on Windows 7.  When I try to connect my HP LaserJet 1022 it won't work.  Apparently, I need a compatible driver downloaded.  When I tried to download drivers from the HP website, it appears one of two did not install.  Help!  I am an online college student and desperately need my printer to work.

From your previous post, it sounds like at one point you are getting the pop up that says "installing device driver software," correct?
If you are not getting this pop up in the lower right hand corner of you screen then I need you to:
    1. Try a different USB port on your computer. Some computer USB ports are "touchy" and if you try a different one it will work. It all depends on the make of the computer.
    2. Try a different USB cable. You might have a bad USB cable. Also, be sure that the USB cable isn't longer than 3ft long.
    3. Go into your device manager and see what printers have been installed. They should be listed under "printers" or "other devices" You might have to go to view and check show hidden devices to see these on your computer. If there is a yellow triangle or question mark on this device then you have a conflict with your computer. This is something in your computer causing this and not the software download.
    Keep me  posted.

  • Networked HP Laserjet 1022 only prints one copy at a time!!

Hi, I am using a HP Laserjet 1022 printer connected to a Windows Network. Although the exact driver is not listed I get around using the closest driver in the list. Under Tiger everything was fine, after upgrading to Leopard I can only print one copy of a document at a time. When I put any number of copies in the box only one copy is printed.
    Thank you in advance.

read this thread here and my solutions about the 1020.
The driver is also for 1022.
Works great with leopard and 1020, needs to work perfect with leopard and 1022.

  • Can't install drivers from HP for laserjet 1022 printer on my new computer with Windows 7.

I have a laserjet 1022.  I can't install the HP drivers provided on the HP website onto my new computer.  When it asks me to connect the printer, the printer is recognized, however the message continues to say waiting for the connection.  I have tried all of the suggestions listed on the forum by both HP and other individuals, including down loading the drivers from other countries.  Other attempts when downloading the drivers ends up with a message saying that the download could not be completed.  I have tried other USB cables and that doesn't work.  I love HP products but I really need help on this one.  HELP!

    Hello DayTrader,
When you connect the printer and if the message continues to say "Waiting for Connection", please try the below step..
Go to Device Manager, ( to do so , Right click on Computer icon, Select Manage, from the left pance m click on Device Manager , which would display the Device Manager on right pane.)
There should be Yellow bang entries ( Yellow ! mark ) with printer name on it.
Right Click on each of them and select Update Driver.
Select "Browse my Computer for driver software "
Click on Browse button to point to the CD ( if you are using the CD to run the installation ) else copy the path where the drivers have been extracted if you had downloaded it. Usually it will be in folder with name starting 7z... under TEMP folder .
    Then Click Next button .

  • Printing interrupted (with HP LaserJet 1022)

    Hello,
I've recently upgraded to Snow Leopard. Since doing so, my printer (a HP LaserJet 1022, bought with my Mac from Apple) has been working only intermittently.
If I print a document, from any application, of more than one page, it'll only print the odd pages and will stop some way through printing those odd pages and the lights on the top of the printer will start flashing red. (I have checked the settings and they're set to print all pages, not just the odd ones.) The only way to move on is to switch the printer off and on again.
This means that 1) I can only print one page at a time and 2) that every few pages or so, I have to switch the printer off and back on.
Does anyone know what's going wrong or what I can do to fix the problem? I thought the SL installer updated my printer driver.
Thanks, in advance, for your help.
    Jonathan.

HP has simply abandoned the 1022 printer on Snow Leopard. For a time there was a HP software engineer posting here, gathering information from users, advising us that they were working on the 1022 driver. He even sent a beta driver to several people with specific problems. Then he suddenly disappeared and we haven't seen or heard from him since. My 1022 works fine with the Snow Leopard supplied driver, except for the manual duplex option which no longer exists. Others report that their 1022 only prints every other page or stops after a couple of pages. There is a very long thread here about the 1022 problems. The HP guy's name was Andrew but, as I said, he vanished. 1022 owners were starting to get testy and frustrated so maybe he just got tired of trying to help.
As for me, I will never buy an HP printer again because of this abandonment.

  • Hp laserjet 1022 driver not available

I am running 10.8.2 on a MacBookPro.  After the recent update of the OS my HP Laserjet 1022 stopped functioning.  In Mountain Lion, the HP drivers are meant to be installed by the OS. However all my attempts to update the driver software from within System Preferences, to to install a new printer have failed.  I always get an error message saying that the appropriate software was not available on the server. Anyone have any ideas on hwo to fix this, or where to get driver software that I can manually install?

Power cycle both devices and try by downloading manually necessary drivers:

After downloading software, try add your printer again.
    Acording to this:

    1. HP LaserJet 1022 Printer
    2. Windows 7 64-bit
    3. No Error Message
    4. The only changes made to the system are security upgrades from Windows Updater. This is a new computer and the old one was running XP.
I have tried removing the printer, downloading newer software (lj1020-HB-pnp-WIN64-en) and trying to install it, adding the printer through windows and still the printer will not work. The cd version will run until it asks you to plug in the printer and then nothing happens. I even tried leaving it running overnight to see if it would find it and install, but nothing happened. This printer is a workhorse for me and I would like to keep it running, any suggestions on getting this printer recognized and running again?
