Pull down View > Show Sidebar. This will give you back the same functionality of iTunes 10.x.x.

I will try am explain what I see: I hooked up my I Pod Clicked on Music checked Sync Music 1909 Songs select Playlist, Artists, albums, and genres checked Include music videos Playlists checked 50's Music checked 70's Music checked 80's Music checked 90's Music checked 2000 Music checked 2010 Music These are songs that I downloaded onto my I Tunes. I bought me a new computer but when my data was transferred from old computer to new computer a lot of my songs on my hard drive were lost, but they were able to save all my songs on I tunes. My I Pod is still connected Clicked on "On this Ipod" Music 938 Songs 2.2 days So my question to you is if I have 1,909 songs on my ITunes how come only 938 transferred to my IPod. I checked my IPod and it shows only 938 songs transferred. This did not happen before until I Tunes asked me if I wanted to update to a newer version. This is more of a statement than a question but I can't stand iTunes. It is THE WORST application I've ever used.

The single worst application I've ever used. Period. I'll never buy another song or use it as a back up again. I'll pay $9.99 per month for Spotify and a cloud-based back up service instead of using this PoS software to backup my family's iPhones. I consider myself a loyal Apple user having owned at least two Apple computers since the early 1990's.

If you like crappy quality and remakes of songs from nobodys then use Spotify. If you can't use iTunes then maybe you need computer lessons. It doesn't get much easier than iTunes. Yes,they changed it and made it a bit clunky if you ask me, but for an all around video and music manager, CD burner,streamer and radio,it doesn't get much better.

You plug the phone into your computer and go to the Info Tab for the device in iTunes. Select what you want to sync. You should not attempt to sync with both iCloud and the local contacts on the Mac.
Are you having some kind of problem doing this?

I have purchased a Mac book pro and when I opened i tunes the songs that I previously purchased started to download. I closed it and went to bed only to wake up to no songs in my i tuners account. Can I please get these songs on my MAC back

So I was so stoked to get my songs, I had windows on my old pc and upgraded my life with mac book pro. When i got into my i tunes account it automatically startesd [pulling the songs I purchased. I was amazaed jumping around like a kid, I'm 39. I was working on a project and purchased a couple songs that night to use in my movie. I closed out everything and shut down the computer, Only to awaken to have it all taken away from me. Why? Can you please help me?

Your music will only be where you put it.
Copy it from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer.
If for some reason you have failed to backup and you do not have the old computer, not good, then you can redownload some itunes purchases in some countries.

check your account settings, possibly under advanced settings.
look for an option to check "remove messages from server" or similar.

Your past purchases are not on the computer. By choosing download all, those purchases will download to the computer.
Once authorized to your iTunes account you can control the computer.
When syncing the iPad the first time you will get the warning " this iPad is synced with another computer, syncing will erase all contents and replace with the contents of this computer"

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

If you have not already done so, now would be a good time to perform a complete network power cycle.......to give everything a fresh start.
Power off every device on the network.....computers, printers, hard drives, etc......in any order that you want
Wait a full minute
Start the modem, and let it run by itself for 2-3 minutes
Start the next device connected to the modem and let it run a full minute
Keep starting devices one at a time about a minute apart until the entire network is back up
Check the network
